Absolutely disgusting prices , we ordered two sandwiches one bacon and egg on normal bread and one bacon and sausage and was charged £19.68, we could have a bacon sandwich in the Ritz for this . After ordering the sandwich we were asked to stand outside on a very cold windy day. How rude after robbing us with the prices of a normal sandwich . This is daylight robbery and we will never ever eat here again .They also advertise a breakfast sandwich on ciabatta at £5.75 ?????? . Why was we robbed

I’d seen this place on Instagram a few times and thought the cakes and brunch looked really good. Location is good but maybe not quite what I expected on entering, but still looking forward to the food...I ordered 2 cappuccinos and 2 scrambled egg and smoked salmon on toast. Unfortunately the cappuccinos didn’t have any froth on them as the milk was effectively burnt. I didn’t send them back as I didn’t feel it would change the outcome. The smoked salmon was poor quality with a strange texture I’d not come across before and the sourdough was skinny and mostly burnt except for the bit that wasn’t toasted at all. I did eat the food but for £30 in total my expectations are higher and there are other venues that simply do it better.

Visited randomly for breakfast. Breakfast sandwich was ok at best sausage and bacon not that nice (ingredients issue rather than chef) and the ciabatta was so tough it couldn’t be eaten as a sandwich. Seemed to be an issue asking for things that were on the menu but separately (asked for smashed avocado on toast with an egg) I presume the dark haired lady is the manager/owner and she made it difficult even though the lady serving was lovely. She stopped the server mid order and made everyone uncomfortable she wanted to see if we were being charged correctly apparently. Looking at other reviews it seems she has an attitude a lot of the time. Cake was nice but expensive and same for the drinks. Overall would only come back if there were no other options.

Order grilled cheese sandwich and hot chocolate as post parkrun treat. Was warned they were busy on ordering, that was fair enough and to be expected. Waited not too long and my sandwich was brought over and was asked if i wanted any condiments. When the waitress brought back my ketchup i asked about my drink, she said it was on it's way. When i was two-thirds of the way through my sandwich i went up to the counter to ask if i could have my drink. I was beckoned over by (assuming) the owner/manager as she said she couldn't hear me. I asked where my drink was as i had nearly finished my breakfast - she rudely said they had all these orders to get through as everyone comes in at the same time. So i was faced with either letting my breakfast go cold whilst i waited for my drink or eat my breakfast dry whilst it was still hot. It would be common sense to not bring my sandwich over until the drink was ready, i was more than prepared to wait. I don't expext to spend £10 on these two items and to receive abuse when i ask politely for a second time about the drink i had paid for. No need for it at all.

We frequent a lot with our toddler and baby. However today we went and were immediately greeted with 'takeaway only' which was fine but when we said ok the waitress audibly sighed and stalked off. We get it was the end of a long day but we are polite and arrived well before closing time. We ordered two coffees to go some cake and some water. Ordinary latte, oat milk cappuccino with no chocolate (baby has a dairy allergy). Coffee and cake practically thrown at us outside and we were told ordinary cappuccino with chocolate , oat milk latte. Again, it was late in the day, benefit of the doubt we didn't correct out of being overly polite. It was only by the end of the cappinchio that we suspected that it was oat milk and the late was made with ordinary milk. Were some distance away by the time this occurred and we didn't want to go back when we were made to feel unwelcome and I'm sure we would have got short shrift being too close to closing time. Now we have a baby with an upset stomach. If we were listened to this would not have happened. If you or little ones have an allergy be very careful and do not take what you are told on trust. If you want to close early, close early. Rather than treat customers with contempt for being to close to closing time

Planned a rare morning cafe trip opportunity with family before an appointment. The white lodge in the park seems closed but having walked all the way down to the main cafe in the pavilion the signs said the white lodge was open. So back up the hill we trudged only to be rudely told 'you shouldn't be in here' upon gingerly opening the door. This was even though absolutely no signage outside the lodge indicated this and we were following the instructions left at the pavilion cafe. Finally served in the garden as takeaway only to be handed a tea with milk that had separated as though it was gone off. When mentioning this no fresh tea was offered but we were still forced to pay for this drink. Stay clear of this cafe chain. They don't care to foster any desire for repeat visits. It's a shame because we used to order their cakes for lots of occasions. Not anymore.

Having planned to go for brunch for the first time without our little one we were hoping it would be a lovely experience. Sadly, homemade did not live up to the expectations their Instagram portrays. Drinks were luke warm at best, the garlic mushrooms on sourdough were more like a garlic mushroom soup on soggy bread and the squash and feta quesedilla was dull. We won't be visiting again.

When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother sausage roll comes to me. In times of pandemic what better way of spicing up an otherwise anodyne epoch than the glory of sausage meat gently sleeping upon a bed of crisp delicious pastry. Sleeping comes easy to me but to those it does not I’d heartily recommend to lay upon a bed of millefeuille or rough puff and sleep the sleep of a beauty. I served mine with homemade chickpeas a la Heinz 58 and oh how I rejoiced in the gospel of moist meat perfect seasoning and flaky flavourful pastry. Being keen on pudding I shared a millionaire shortbread with my partner in crime. Rich smoky buttery biscuit base (no Gregg Wallace desist) dark chocolate promising jungle enigmas and freeze dried raspberries and pistachios the best colours to eat. Stay safe, order via hatches and staff are splendiferous.

! !De nadaRafee

Very dry cake. Such a shame as I have been so many times and previously given great reviews. However, twice now have had really dry cakes. Went today and thought the cake would be good as it was the first slice out of a raspberry and lemon cake so assumed fresh, at least, if not moist. However, it was very dry and not fresh at all. Husband had a scone which was also dry and stale. Child had pretzel millionaires slice which was good. Coffee arrived so much before cakes that it was gone by the time the cakes arrived about 10-15 mins later. Shame the cakes are so dry as it’s located in a great park, next to the playground so convenient with kids and they have board games for the children. Won’t go again for cake but hoping their meals haven’t gone downhill at such a rapid pace.

I like this place, but it is way too expensive. I think that's why it's usually empty. There needs to be some 'lunchtime offers' or 'coffee and cake' offers in order to make it vagualy accessible to most of the passing customers. It needs to cater for the wallets of Forest Fields' residents, not those of West Bridgford! For example, it's right next to a children's play area, but the cheapest ice cream is £2,75. Having cheaper options could potentially transform this place from being a middle-class oasis into a something that supports the local community. Surely, in such a location it's not just about making money?

Myself, my partner and our 2 year old visited here, we have visited the main cafe in Nottingham city centre before as a couple and enjoyed it but today found who I believed to be the manager unbelievably rude, so much so that we immediately left. I couldn't believe that when I asked to speak to a manager it was the member of staff who had treated us the way she had. My son is relatively well behaved and I am aware that not everybody wants tp be around children so I am considerate of others when we are out and about. The board outside advertised the cafe as family friendly and offered toys. He sat quietly putting the pieces in the game and taking them out again on the floor next to my chair as it was a sunny day and we were sat outside. He is 2. The pieces weren't in a neet pile but scattered only around him. Again He is 2. He was honestly playing beautifully. The 'manager' walked by and told us to pick them up because they were all over and left it with us because she was busy. I wouldn't tell my son to put his toys away like that so I don't expect to be treated like that either. We will not be returning to either branch as I am so annoyed and frustrated by this customer service. I have never felt so humiliated and didn't deserve to. They should not claim to be child friendly if they do not accept their toys being played with.

When placing our order, there were 2 staff sat behind the counter, one was brushing & plaiting the others waist length hair, right next to the food. We then went to sit down & couldn't find a clean table, the place was half empty & there were 4 staff on, sat talking around the counter so not as if they were rushed off their feet. Then a woman brought her wet dog in, let it wander all over, including to the toilet with her & then proceeded to let it put its paws on the table. The final straw was one of the staff repeatedly blowing her nose behind the counter & not washing her hands before handling the food. It was disgusting & I'm surprised they are even open. I will never visit there again, which is such a shame as the cake was so good.

Firstly the smell...wet dogs!!Secondly...dangerously greasy floor !!Thirdly...dirty greasy tables each containing a rusty tin from which you are supposed to take your utensils and napkins !!And to top it of the beautiful 'looking' cake was as dry as ghandi's flip flop !!Avoid...over priced and disappointing..Sorry

Love this place but so disappointed. Went along for a dog walk and Sunday morning breakfast out, arriving at 11:00 to be told they were only serving lunch and cakes. Even though they always serve breakfast. What's that all about?! Such a shame to be let down by one of our otherwise favourites.

Visited Homemade at the Pavilion today with my mum. It was clean, and the young gentleman who served us was polite and helpful and took the time to chat to us. The milkshakes we had were handmade and really yummy, and the fish finger sandwich I had was brilliant. All in all it was a great visit and can't wait to go back with my friends.

Spent a lovely Saturday afternoon with the family here to celebrate my nieces 1st birthday. Cake and a candle with the whole cafe singing happy birthday was fab, great food, sandwiches, sausage rolls, cakes and fizz perfect for everyone, overall a lovely warm, welcoming and clean cafe with quirky decor, different tables and chairs and bunting around the wall, overlooking the green! Family friendly with something for everyone (good range of gluten free and vegan treats) thank you for a lovely time!

Today my son and I took our dog for a walk and nipped in for hot drinks. Welcoming and friendly service from Jacob and Stephen, despite it being near closing nothing was too much trouble. They made a fuss of the dog and were happy to chat. The drinks ( hot choc and a latte) were delicious and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back for food!

Came here with my son for lunch, I ordered the bacon, Brie and cranberry sandwich, when it arrived I had to send it back as the bacon was that hard I couldn't chew it. They apologised and made me another, below is the picture of how fatty the bacon was on the second sandwich. Considering this was there second attempt I expected better. Will not be visiting again.

Having visited homemade in the city centre I thought I'd treat a friend to brunch at the pavilion on the forest recreation ground. On entering the cafe there was one other family about to leave, having never been before we took a seat and looked for a menu. The 5 staff didn't acknowledge us and continued chatting and loitering behind the counter. After 10 minutes I leant over to the table the family had been sat at and found 2 brunch menu's printed on brown paper with beans and fried egg splattered on them. We decided on 2x homemade 'works' breakfast at £7, a latte and hot chocolate. My friend approached the counter as it was clear table service was far from the 5 staffs remit. At the counter my friend was directed to a till to take the order, next to a staff member eating his breakfast (classy). After a few minutes a girl with green hair and food splattered clothes looking like she'd been sleeping rough, approached the table carrying 2 mugs of tepid drinks, (I believe trays may be available) After a few minutes our "breakfast" arrived. The plates were cold, the 2 slices of bacon had at some point seen a pan and had obviously been kept in a Bain Marie as had the 1 sausage which I was dubious to eat given its pink appearance in side, there was a small pot of beans and some sliced mushrooms, a tomato and slice of toast, but no butter. Overall it wasn't tasty or enjoyable and certainly not worth £7. No one checked to see if everything was OK or if we required anything else. We finished our meals and went to leave, no one noticed and didn't say goodbye or thanks. Overall the customer service was appalling, the meals were mediocre and the drinks were awful. I would not re visit which for someone who doesn't complain says a lot.

On a walk round Nottingham, we came across this place and thought we'd give it a try.To our surprise it was not a typical park café, but a casual bistro type café. Our food was good (pork belly and chorizo casserole, and a smoked haddock leek and potato pie), the cakes lovely, a good selection of soft drinks (including Fentiman's). The staff were very friendly, service was speedy (at around 2pm it was fairly quiet) and the background music good but not intrusive. Prices were of course higher than those of a "greasy spoon", but represented good value, on a par with pub lunches. Would certainly go back again.

My friends and I met with our children late on a Saturday afternoon. We asked if they minded if we pushed two tables together to accommodate us all, which they didn't mind but no help was offered, leaving us dragging tables and chairs across the floor which was not well received with the other diners.I then went to place my order. I stood at the counter where there were 2 assistants and not one of them looked up to acknowledge me. The cakes all looked amazing but not one of them were covered. The food came quite quickly and the cakes were lovely, but the cups are quite dated and not big enough for a decent cup of tea. The final thing was one of the assistants approaching our table and asking if we had booked online as they had had a big reservation which they had reserved tables for but they had not shown up. This was very poor and not done tastefully at all. Overall, really disappointing.

I visited Homemade several times while on maternity leave over the summer for coffee and cake or lunch. It has a quirky interior with lots of mismatched furniture. It's a good meeting place for mums as it is quite laid-back and baby (and breast-feeding) friendly. There are plenty of highchairs and usually quite a lot of space, particularly when the weather is nice and you can sit outdoors, as it was usually relatively quiet on weekday lunchtimes/afternoons. The food is quite good and there are several veggie options, although the menu tends to stay the same. The cakes looked really good but a lot of them aren't covered, perhaps this is why they didn't seem very fresh, which was a bit disappointing...

Fantastic food in such a relaxing, chilled environment. Can't fault it at all. Great service too. Everyone should try this, best roast dinner I've had in ages.

This was my first visit to the Pavillion and we decided to go as we had guests visiting and were keen to try their newly launched Sunday Roast. We chose here because they're dog friendly and were attracted to the idea of a proper roast on a Sunday. I usually do my own because it's hard to find a decent one. Usually it's a disappointing plate of dry meat and frozen tasteless veg. Wow were we pleased with this roast! 3 of us opted for the roast beef and one vegetarian option. The beef was succulent and pink and I'm told that the veggie stuffed mushroom was delicious. All of the accompanying veg was well seasoned and complimented the beef nicely. Gorgeous 'proper gravy' on the side. We also ordered the creamed leeks and pigs in blankets on the side. Both of which were yummy. Also fantastic roast potatoes and lovely homemade Yorkshire puds. Couldn't fault it in all honesty and I'm quite picky! I cook for a living and eat out alot so I know good quality. The service was wonderful and they made us feel very welcome with our two silly dogs. Also very attractive is that they offer a vegan option if preordered and as I have vegan friends this is a great idea. Anyway, all in all very impressed and I will definately be visiting again

I have been here 3 times. My most recent visit was last week when I came with 9 relatives for brunch. When ordering drinks we were warned the service may be slow because it was busy. Some drinks came within a reasonable amount of time, but others came 15 mins later. The food was lovely (I had the vegetarian breakfast) although I thought it was a bit odd that the menu only has £ signs on a few things, it is not next to all options, it just says 6 or 7, etc. It was quite noisy because it was busy so I think it would be better, and easier to converse, if the music was switched off during busy periods. This is a nice café, but it's not ideal for large groups as we had to put odd tables together and arrange them into an L shape. The café's walls are nicely decorated. We bought some cakes to take away and we all enjoyed those later that day.

We've been to all three Homemade cafes and this is our favourite. The food is excellent and the staff friendly. Love the vintage feel to it. My only criticism is the noise. The music is always way too loud and the sound of chatter is overly loud to compensate. I'm aware my husband and I are in a minority, but just sometimes enjoying a breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea would be so much nicer if not having to shout to be heard ......

Me and my family attended a football match at the Forest Recreation Park on Saturday 22nd August 2015, my wife was greeted by a young lady of staff who was very pleasant and cheerful. My wife bought take away drinks, so I could have a drink at pitchside, they were served with lids on them. My wife said that the cakes looked very nice and all reasonable priced. My son had a double scoop ice cream which he fully enjoyed. This cafe is a jewel in the park

Went here with some friends and our babies. It was fairly quiet midweek so plenty of space for buggies. They had lots of booster seats for little ones and clean, spacious changing facilities. The menu was varied and had a good choice of sandwiches, salads, soup and light lunches. I opted for a mozzarella, pesto and tomato sandwich and it was very nice. Some of the prices were a little high £7 or £8 for a lunch...but the location is nice so I guess it's worth paying a bit extra. Would definitely go back again. It's a good place to head for after a stroll through the park or arboretum.

Went today just to get a takeout drink. The cafe had limited supply of tea. The green tea was just medium quality. My friend had a milk shake. It was average. It was not that busy, a few people eating outside, no one eating inside. There was dirty plates all over the counter. This made it really unpleasant when you came up to get food. As I was passed my takeout cup I was not given a lid. That's how I found more nasty dirty plates. I learned over the counter to find more mess. The waitress did not even smile. This led to a further negative first impression. The cakes looked nice. Some were open, some under domes. That puts me off a little personally

This is a little cafe on forest recreation ground I often have a doggy date with my pup. They allow dogs inside, but they also have a nice outside seating area for nice days. The breakfasts are great here, and I love their toast and sausages. Unfortunately, when I asked for poached eggs, they told me they "don't do poached eggs". That was a little disappointing, but everything else was great. When it comes to lunch, I've only ever had the meatball sandwich. I wouldn't recommend ordering that. I only had one tiny meatball on the sandwich. I may try having lunch there again, but will order something different. Another nice thing about this cafe is that they serve beer and wine. I am planning to go there now that the weather is nicer, and having a glass of wine outside on the patio.Overall, breakfast is great, the staff is friendly and the food comes out quick and hot.

We discovered Homemade in February and have now visited four times! There is only a small choice of menu items but everything we have tried has been delicious (my favourite is the bacon, brie and cranberry sandwich). They also have some lovely looking cakes but we are always too full to try them... one day though!

We went there on our wedding anniversary as we had been recommended it, but in all honesty I think our friend might have been drunk when he ate there, because our food was nothing to shout out about. The starters were like something from the frozen section in Iceland. I had steak and chips while my wife had braised shin of beef and chips instead of mash. The chips were awful they had a really bad taste like they had been cooked a while, stored and then fried up again. My wife’s braised shin of beef came in a bowl and with what seemed to her like left over veg from the Sunday dinners menu…it was like a beef chunky soup. My wife had a desert from the menu but by this time I was completely done and was feeling a bit dodgy with the after taste of the chips. She said the desert was the best part of the meal. The lad behind the bar who served us was very pleasant tho and was no fault of his own. This would have got 1 star but the steak was nice and so was the birra morretti. It’s been an hour since the meal and we can still taste the horrible chips. We won’t be returning. Overpriced as well for what we got.
