Need to bake more white sandwich tins, always sold out before I can get there. Need to sell unseeded bread sandwiches. Far too many rules to take part in this review Why why why why why why

I went into Leigh on sea branch today to buy sandwiches for myself and husband, to my surprise it was not busy, 2 people serving people 2 young members of staff just stood taking! I asked one of the girls are you serving? She then served me, I had quite a few bits drinks crisps sandwiches, when she took my money I asked could I have a bag please she then said it’s 10p I wasn’t going to put 10p on my card! I thought she would have asked after seeing how much I had! I said leave it! She ten began to giggle with another girl it made me feel very uncomfortable as I knew she was laughing at me! Then she looked at me with her silly grin and said have a nice day as she kept laughing! I don’t expect to be treated like that!

Wow sausage roll hot was faberoo coffee was yumee cheese cake delish . This bakery is the best awesome selection and everything super fresh...... Carry on the great work 11/11

Whilst not an official corporate endorsement, as an organisation we were looking for a bakery local to a remote venue we were using to provide some breakfast treats. The help and service we received was brilliant, and the food was to match. the Bakery delivered to our remote location, at the time they promised and stayed in contact up the the event and accommodated our change in order. Brilliant service all round. just sorry I was too busy at the event so didn't get to eat more than three to replace lunch after we had done - could easily have polished a box off!

Amazing scrumpy cake. Nothing was to much to ask . Cake decorations were awesome. This is my third celebration cake from Home Made Bakery. Always a winner.

Went to the home made bakery the other day for a sandwich and was served by a very pleasant and helpful member of staff. Everytime i visit its always the same cheerful nothing is to much attitude. Highly recommended

Purchased a sausage roll that tasted nothing of pork but veg, on querying it, an extremely rude woman told me that, that is how they make them

I visited the bakery today 2nd September 2021 and I was waiting in the queue like everyone else. The gentleman in front of me said you could go in front of me as my brother is inside. I said thank-you and went inside. There was a woman with glasses who then went over to the window trying to get the attention of the gentleman who just allowed me to go in front of him. He just pushed in front of you. I replied I did not push in front the gentlemen allowed me to go in front. Moral of the story is never Assume, and on this occasion they failed miserably. I took my business elsewhere. Training staff is very important for customer retention, after all without the paying customer there is no business and no staff. For future reference ask questions first in stead of jumping to conclusions.

What a thrill to visit this bakery. The cakes are a wow and so diverse and the bread are so yummy. The staff are all young but so polite and helpful. Great Place and Will be going back at some stage.

They have been in Leigh for as long as I can remember. Frog cakes and interesting seasonal designs keep children peering through the window as they pass chanting "mummy, can we have some cakes!" I had them make me a custom wedding cake which was not only delicious but also handled professionally by them.

Well ok a little over the top on the heading, but it’s defo one of my absolute favourites, pretty much will go out of my way and also try to park to go when it’s heaving in that area, which it always is. Beats places like patisserie Valerie, they ain’t a patch on it. The deliciousness that comes out of here is amazing and the prices are beyond fantastic. Apple danish to die for and if I turn up and they’ve run out it’s complete devastation. Wonderful bakery.

Fantastic service given to me by all the staff,especially ETHAN , nothing is ever too much trouble, the bread rolls and cakes are delicious.

Good for bespoke celebration cakes but a little pricey, gorgeous fresh cream cakes and fruit loaf. Their rustic cob rolls are my favourite ever roll but sell out really early. The bread is good BUT it is not ,in my opinion, the best bread available in Leigh - that honour befalls Grouts which is just around the corner through the alley. So, I get my loaves from Grouts and everything else from the Home Made. One small criticism, quite often you will not get served in order of waiting and some staff like to talk between themselves rather than serve.

Literally the best bakers ever! With the best and most yummiest selection of cakes at amazing prices, Apple danish is my absolute favourite beating anyone else in taste, flavour and price, tried one from patisserie Valerie once, cost me a body part and wasn’t even half as nice. Great selection of bread and pastries also. Friendly staff great prices. Don’t change a thing!

My husband pops in every morning to pick up lunch and then buys up as my ch sour dough bread as he can on a Saturday, best bread ever.

Good home made bread and cakes. Sadly sourdough bread sells out too fast and a larger quantity would be an advantage

always buy my bread and cakes etc from here - their hot cross buns are the best in the world they are family owned and have a pride in their work

Have been going to this bakery since I was a kid (I am now 42!) The bread, especially the granary tin and the G I loaf are brilliant. Sausage rolls are fab and my kids adore the ginger bread and doughnuts!

Can't fault it everything is delicious, has been going for years and it shows. Custard tarts are the real deal, traditional and proper recipe. You won't get a better sausage roll anywhere.

There is a large variety of bread and pastries available for purchase and this is a very popular bakery. If you have anything specific in mind for purchase, then get there early! A lot of their delicacies are seasonal as well.

Mainly I go here for sandwiches and cake which always are full to the brim and good value. A family styled business which over the last 30 years has got better and better

Everything we ever had from here is real good, the seeded loaf usually lasts 4 days, and whats left we toast, the price is sometimes £1.50, and sometimes £1.55, a bit odd, suppose depends who serves you, service as you would expect in a bakers.

Every week I get sandwiches and bread from the premises and it is always of a high standard. They also will make up sandwiches to order. Lovely :)

Wow this place fits the bill eveytime. I would fully recommend the sausage rolls they taste amazing and there is no bakers that come close.

I like to buy my lunch here, then walk over to the library gardens to eat in peace and quiet. A great selection of sandwiches, French stick, soups, cakes, etc.

The window display is gorgeous! So are all of the items inside the shop. Everything is very scrummy indeed!

This is the bakers I always go to unless I have no other choice. It's range is amazing and so many tasty things to choose from all totally delicious. Fresh and well presented. My favourite being the apple Danish but I need to get there early or they all go and I will get there as soon as it opens Xmas eve just to get there mince pies! Yes I am a freak! Staff are lovely and I just can't rave about it enough. Yummy!

Easily the number 1 bakery in Leigh, been going here for over 30 years and everything they do is good.

This is an exceptional bakers, I have been going here for years and it doesn't compare with any other bakers. The standard of sandwiches and cakes are amazing. They have a wide variety of sandwiches, that beats any other bought sandwich shop.

Runs out of things if you get there late in day but otherwise a great bakery that should be supported. Also a nice shopping experience which assists with the decision to eschew supermarket alternatives...sorry mr kipling.

Sadly this is not the Home Made Bakery of old, having lived in Leigh-on-Sea for more than half of my life I looked forward to seeing my wife's 60th birthday cup cake she had ordered to be delivered to the Thorpe Bay Broadway shop to be collected on the morning of her birthday party last Saturday 23rd January. Having paid in full in advance of collection we were very disappointed to find that the cake was a top heavy left handed version of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The Thorpe Bay shop manageress rang through to the Leigh shop who offered £10.00 off. It was clear that the manageress at Thorpe Bay was very embarrassed as not only did the cake lean considerably to the left the writing on the silver mounting board was illegible! Considering that this was a part of a major birthday and life event one would have though that a phone call to inform us of the issue would have been considerate on Friday when the cake had been made but no we are left in a situation with two options leave the cake and have no birthday cake or make the best of it, as it was we had to take the latter option. After both my wife and I making numerous calls to the Leigh shop on Monday onwards we eventually spoke to a lady we believe to be the owner on Thursday. She said that they were "aware that the baker was not completely happy with the cake, but it can't have beeen that bad or you would not have taken it", my wife was then asked how we transported it to the venue trying to blame us for the state of the cake.

Have been here before when in the area. Great bread, sandwiches and cakes. Take away only. On site baking very fresh and tasty.

I was introduced to this bakers when I moved to Leigh a year ago as "the best in Leigh". Their buns are amazing - honestly - I love their child size rolls - in fact I like everything about it. Highly recommended.

We use our local branch all the time. Their bread, particularly the whole meal for us, is great. Just try to resist their cakes!

This bakery has been running for many years,with the same family at the helm. Food is very good,freshly made sandwiches,bread,pies and cakes to take home.

They serve great bread, made on the premiss. Cakes, sandwiches, snacks.

I (and my boyfriend and our two children) love the cakes & everything from here. We used to go a couple of times a week & buy a few but we're currently on diets (boo!) so trying to cut down! They also make a mean sandwich, I ordered sandwich platters for my sons birthday & everyone commented how lovely they were and asked where they were from. If you've not had one, buy a donut man! A favourite here!

I have never written a bad review before as I hate to be negative, however, I ordered a birthday cake for my son and daughters 2nd birthday. I requested a mini beast themed cake, bugs, worms, etc for approximately 20 people and specifically requested there be snails on it. I actually joked when ordering, commenting on how fascinated my daughter was with snails. There were no snails. It may seem a silly detail to complain about, however I paid £65 for a cake that was not made to the specifics requested and when I called back on the day of collection the man I spoke to remembered my request and could not understand why there were no snails. The manager never called as he said she would so I called a few days later and was put through to the manager Sam, who's response was sarcastic and impolite, knowing the birthday had past he said, "I can make you a snail if you want a snail, what else do you want me to do about it". I have used the bakers on many occasions, however I no longer will. Please be aware if you have a specific request for a special occasion, you may be disappointed.

I have been buying bread and cakes from here for 30 years and it is outstandingly good . It opens early too so if you are dropping kids at school , which is what I used to do, you can buy bread, sandwiches etc on the way to school.

Fabulous bakery with the helpful staff and the best bread in the area and also cheap than the chain bakery round the corner.

We usually get our loaves of bread from this bakery every other day. They also make great fresh sandwiches. Not so keen on the sweet stuff from here though.

Wonderful cakes, bread and pastries served by lovely staff and run by family. This makes all the difference and makes people want to go back. I get something from the Home Made Bakery everyone week. Sometimes bread, sometimes cakes. Either way everything is always fresh, yummy and served with a smile. What more can you ask. Sometimes a bit of traditional speaks volume.

Nice to have a traditional bakers selling variety of bread and cakes that isn't part of a big chain. They also have a good range of sandwiches, rolls and savouries made on the premises. The sandwiches are generously filled and they will make you up what you want if it's not already on display.

A great service and nice yummy cakes, sandwiches, pastry etc. We had some take away food and enjoyed it by the sea. All fresh and tasty.

Use this bakers every week GI loaf superb if they are not sold out. Granary is again wonderful, try their sausage rolls a cheap treat.

I love this bakery and have been going ever since I was a child but I do wish they would cover the food as on many occasions have seen a fly tucking into a bit of cake :(

I love this bakery, the cakes and bread are delicious, everything tastes so fresh. You must try their jam slices.. the pastry just melts in your mouth! There is always a queue but you wont be waiting more than a couple of minutes. Quick service.

we get all our bread here, its the best. and their cakes are delish...we love the belguim buns. whats also great its not even expensive. fresh baked bread is cheaper than most of the big brands pre packed. go on treat yourself. a nice fresh bloomer slice it butter it and add jam...mmm

The home made bakery is a fantastic bakery with delicious cakes, fresh baked breads, sandwiches, sausage rolls and pastries as well as hot and cold drinks.

I took a photo in of our family cat and they made a cake in the shape of the cat's head - it looked fantastic - everyone also said it was the best tasting cake they had eaten.

Bread, cakes and pastries just as they should be! Served by friendly and helpful staff! Always busy, which is a recommendation in itself.

We've been buying bread, cakes and sandwiches at the Home Made Bakery since we moved to this part of Leigh in 1998. It's a really busy shop, for a good reason - they have hit upon an excellent balance of product quality, price and staff friendliness. At lunchtime and on Saturdays there is bound to be a queue, with the people of Leigh on Sea politely letting each other into the shop and figuring out who will be served next by the team of people who work behind the counter.

This is bakers shop, you can take some hot food and sandwiches away, but there is no seating available. The sell the most yummy bread - the granary loaf in particular I think is the best and they have a large selection of cakes, which are all nice.

This BAKERY is always busy but that means that the food you get is always fresh. I usually pick up a sandwich (chicken & bacon OR cheese & spring onion) and a cake - but there are so many cakes to choose from. They also do made-to-order cakes for special occasions. Mostly locals eat from here which only goes to prove that you can trust their opinion. If you are coming to the Mountain Biking in Hadleigh in 2012 make the little journey to this bakery.
