Bought some beautifully grown bedding plants for a reasonable price. The hanging baskets were stunning. Very tempted.

Visited the Hollybush cafe on Sunday 12th Feb. They had just taken abatch of freshly baked cheese scones out of the oven. My hubby and I had one each with a coffee. The coffee was freshly made, and not stewed and the scones, well they were sheer delight with every bite. Glad we made the trip out from Hexham. Was well worth it :)

We came here on a sunny day, and sat outside with the most beautiful view of a valley beyond and a field with horses. The food was homemade and the cakes were especially good. The apple and raspberry pie with ice cream was delicious. The carrot cake was good, but I would suggest adding raisins and walnuts. Service was excellent, the waitress was polite and took great care with hygiene and coronavirus precautions.

Bacon, sausage and egg baps are excellent as are the cakes and pies. Have to agree with some of the other reviews re staff but once you get to know them they are mostly friendly. The plant selection is excellent and reasonably priced.

Good quality " home made food " a little bit overpriced , a slice of corned beef pie and a small portion of salad £5.50 , the café is away from the main roads so it will cost more . The reason for 3 out of 5 is because all of the staff were not at all friendly and looked miserable , not good . We may go back in the summer the view from the outdoor tables is very pleasant. .

the nursery was looking a bit run down with plants in pots needing a tidy up; but the cafe was clean and the home made carrot cake delicious. A more enthusiastic welcome would have been good, but cant fault the service and helpfulness thereafter.

I started going to Hollybush cafe when it first opened about 10 years ago and it was seriously good -reasonably priced, good food and drinks, and most importantly friendly staff. After a break of about 4 years sadly it has deteriorated considerably. To be fair the food and drink was good. However, it is overpriced and the attitude of the staff was to be frank deplorable. They were monosyllabic when talking to customers, they looked plain miserable, the young lass obviously didn't want to be there. The person in charge kept nipping out for a fag. While we were there they were bringing in extra tables and chairs using a crane with no thought to the customers. My disappointment is particularly complete as I have been extolling its virtues for years but no more. If you are happy with a service you will tell 10 people when you're not you tell the world. Tragic! Bring back Vera!

We stopped here by chance on the way to Slaley. The nursery has the most wonderful plants, so healthy. We had lunch, corned beef pie and jacket potato with tuna - both good. Service so friendly. Reclamation yard next door fab too.

We called in here to visit the Christmas fayre and thought we’d have food here as well. The queue for food was huge so didn’t bother with that. Didn’t like the way the fayre was run. You picked things up from the various stalls as you went around then paid for the lot at the checkouts. Needless to say the queues were huge so left the basket and didn’t buy anything.

Hollybush is one of those ‘treat’ places which combines well with ‘necessary and ‘different’. It is, for us, one the best places within a few miles of Hexham for a coffee and a piece of cake, a bacon sandwich, quiche with salad for a light lunch, plentiful choice of homemade soups always on the go, broth - thick, the way I like it and so much more. This is where we inevitably start. Situated about halfway between Hexham and Slaley it is a popular stop for motorists and cyclists alike and the views are to die for with plentiful tables outside to enjoy: the views far across the valley to the North, the nearby views of horses and meadows and woods and the adjacent views of the very colourful market garden which surrounds the place prompt contemplation and wallowing in the all-pervading countryside. Here there is a wide choice of plants and shrubs and they do orders to boot - Christmas wreaths are simply wonderful, but they do all manner of pots and containers. Aside from the market garden and the friendly café there is an adjacent ‘reclamation centre’ wherein all sorts of recycled items for yesteryear can be found. I bought a small tiled bird bath with cast iron birds round it. There is a bit of everything - yesterdays chimneys to seats to ornaments.

Had coffee with scone which was very good, and then returned for lunch on a different day which was also very good. Though limited to hot sandwhiches and quiche the food was very good and with a choice of coffees'. The breakfasts on the menu also looked very tempting. The views are also worth being there for, and the nursery flowers worth seeing when in full bloom.

It was ok but nothing to push the boat out for. My daughter wanted chicken tikka panini but apparently had no tikka, I asked for a sandwich on brown bread cake but they had no brown bread cakes left. Really?? And this was only just after noon. Nothing special about the ham sandwich which all in all tasted bland. The dog ate most of it.

Large chain, standard menu offerings, busy, noisy setting, but good sea views, nice outside area. Food came quickly once managed to order at the busy bar. Burger sauce was the best item. Small burger Pattie, creamy coleslaw, hubby had monkfish scampi, bit over battered. Both sets of chips under cooked, when we were asked how our meal was, our reply was just received with blank stare and no response before waiter cleared our plates and left! Buffet breakfast the following morning as we expected! Basic sausages, overcooked black pudding, the bacon, mushrooms and hash browns ok, had run out of baked beans, but at least you could order different eggs if didn’t fancy fried.

Cool bar with friendly clientele. Staff are smiley and attentive. Love the skiing theme and the Brewdog beer. Great having the ski videos on the big screen aswell. Just a thought, have you thought about showing the live skiing on Eurosport/Discovery+?
