Amazing food, staff were so polite and friendly, didn't try and rush us to order but didn't leave us too long either, didn't wait long for our food which was delicious, would highly recommend and will definitely be going back x

I had an excellence experience at the Hollybush Inn, the food and service was second to none. The staff were brilliant! Stunning Sunday lunch I would definitely recommend.

Yet again a fantastic mid week meal at the Hollybush. Dispute the management having some issues with the heating, although the fire was lit in the bar area. Staff were welcoming as always, food cooked to a high standard and plenty of it! Will be back 😊

Re-booked this venue as had such fabulous food and service the last time. But sorry won’t be going back in a hurry. The pub was cold - radiators not on at all. Service was very slow - and when we did order the waitress had to return twice as they were out of some of the meals ordered. When the meals arrived everyone at the table commented on the chips - they were a funny shape and looked like mini celery sticks (not very nice at all). We ordered desserts and again they were out of some of the items. I don’t know if this pub has changed hands since we were last there - but if it has - bring back the people who ran it before.

Came for lunch today 22/12. Party of 9. Food was stunning. Staff very friendly. Will definitely be back.

Party of fourteen had our lunch here today after our Christmas walk. The management and staff were particularly helpful in rearranging our seating arrangements, as a result of us bringing a couple of dogs with us. The food was good and plenty full. Service was quick. Staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend and would use again.

I'd never been to this pub before but my dining partner said we should go. The pub is only small with a small car park to the side. we were there early evening and there were a couple of people dining there already. We were given a warm welcome and ordered drinks, then sat at a table with the menus. It was so cold outside that I wanted a coffee to warm me through and was served a delicious Latte. The menu though not extensive was appetising and I chose Chilli with half and half and my partner had the Rump steak. These meals came quite quickly and were hot and well proportioned. My partners steak was excellent and not an ounce of fat on it! My Chilli was really nice and we ate the lot!! The service was brilliant and we will be back soon!! Thank you.

We visited the last weekend of March for Sunday Lunch. Tried to call to see if there was any availability but there was apparently trouble with the phones so was asked to book via messenger which I did. When we arrived they had no information of our booking which we had made and had been confirmed. Plenty of tables available anyway so not a problem. We sat down , and told there were no menus as they were being printed so server read out the options. ( menu could have been written on the empty blackboard in the dinning area). We both ordered the roast beef dinner. Extremely disappointed is an understatement. One small slice of very dried beef, a Yorkshire pud which contained a stuffing ball which I couldn’t even cut with my knife, veg was minimal and well over done. I dont expect Michelin level food but at least something decent for the above average price we paid . Probably the worst Sunday lunch I’ve experienced in the area and especially from this Inn. Certainly wont be going there again. Much better options in and around the area. Sorry but I have to be honest

Don’t like to leave bad reviews but want to be honest. We went for Sunday dinner as a family of 8. We were spilt onto a table of 6 and 2 which was disappointing and meant 2 people were on their own. We had the Sunday lunch. The vegetables were cooked lovey and plenty of them. Unfortunately the meat was over cooked, hard and tasteless. We were given 1 slice of meat and the dinners that said mixed meat had 2 slices. Very very poor for the cost of a meal which was between £9.00 -£12.95. Per dinner. The service wasn’t great either. The poor waitress kept coming back with plates of food that we hadn’t ordered insisting they were ours several times. Had to go up and ask for cutlery several times too. Pudding were ok, although a limited choice as they had run out of lots of them and one sticky toffee pudding needed to be reheated as cold in the middle. Not sure if this pub has been taken over by new management. Just disappointing as it’s expensive to eat out and the experience wasn’t great on this occasion.

There were four of us all with a different selection of meals, they were all excellent. We also had deserts which were really good. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting and although busy service was good.

Had lovely meal tonight. Landlord was lovely and bar lady. Had starters garlic mushrooms steak for mains with pepper sauce and apple pie and cream for dessert.

We visited the Hollybush on Sunday and my husband and I had a fabulous roast dinner. The portion size was perfect, the meat was beautiful and the deserts were so good that I will definitely be going back :-) Its a great pub, relaxed atmosphere and the staff were brilliant - friendly and efficient. The meal was excellent value for money. We will be going back next time we visit Wales.

Food was beautiful. And the waitresses were outstanding, polite, pleasant and nothing was to much trouble for them.

Me and my friend walked in to use the toilet and was told to buggar off by the barman, we were gonna order some drinks after but very unfriendly staff.

Had a meal with a friend on a Thursday evening. Portions were generous, service was very polite and beer was great. Good value for money, would happily return, top marks all round

Excellent pub really warm and cosy,staff very polite and courteous,had food here for a friend’s Birthday,I had a chicken bacon cheese panini with homemade chips and it was fantastic also the staff were very attentive and friendly,all in all a great pub with a brilliant atmosphere

Firstly I would like to appologise to the management about the soup.I was one who ordered soup but I asked the member who sorted out the menues to check what the soup was on the day so I knew whether it was suitable, other than that all starters were AOK but the soups served could have been a little warmer and not so thickAll main meals and childrens meals were lovely as most plates were cleared.I personally would return again obviously I cannot speak for everyone but I se no reason as to why they wouldn't.

1st visit to this establishment tonight but it definitely won't be my last. Wonderful welcome when we arrived and the food was out of this world(and I'm a fussy bugger lol). Kudos to the owners we will see you soon!

Visited the HOLLYBUSH with friends for Sunday lunch. I had the chicken friends had beef. The service and staff were excellent. The food was amazing best Sunday lunch I've had in ages. I will definitely be returning. Keep up the good standards! thank you

Visited here this afternoon was quite busy food, there wasnt much wait for the food, I had homemade lasagne and home made chips and they were absolutely stunning, my husband had chicken burger and chips and it was lovely, even the chef brought our meals out for us. 100% recomend I will be returning soon

Such a lovely welcome, popped in with my daughter, looking for a quick bite to eat. The staff are so nice and the food is gorgeous, especially the homemade chips! the pub is warm and welcoming and it’s great value. Had paninis of the light bites menu.

Visited Wednesday 15 January during the evening and had a very good Beef roast dinner. Lovely surprise to have this on offer as well as a good selection of food on the menu. Food well cooked and appetising friendly staff and good service.

Not been to this pub for some time so meet up with some friends for a meal there, it's a nice small pub and friendly people with a fair choice of beers, the starters were great pate and garlic mushrooms the main looked delicious, steak with real chips and the presentation was great sadly this was let down by the quality of all the 3 sirloin stakes being all grisly. I would change your supplier as this could have been a very nice meal with 5 star rating. Would we go back that would be A BIG NO FROM ME

Ate here with colleagues over the Christmas period. We had preordered but they still managed to mess up our orders and in fact didn’t have certain dishes as advertised even though we’d preordered? When the food was eventually served it was in stages. Some were finishing their meals as others were just starting. I had the garlic mushrooms to start which was simply mushrooms on soggy bread/toast. The presentation was awful. Those who ordered the steak found it tough and streaked with grisly fat. Bad cuts. There was an elder gent working behind the bar on his own and then serving the food when able too. The poor fella was blowing out of his a**** trying to keep up with the demand at the bar and serving food from the kitchen. Friends and family have since visited and had a similar experience. Will not return.

We went for a birthday meal on the weekend and it's had a facelift since I was there years ago, and inside is very cozy. We ordered rib-eye steaks, a pie and I had the lamb shank. The table next to us got served first and sent their food back, I saw it as it was arriving but don't like to point out bad things about others food, but the chips were so overdone, (not sure about anything else on the plate) and yep they got sent back, so the chef had to re-do their meal which delayed ours and even though he'd been pulled for overdone chips ours were then borderline when they came. My lamb shank came with mint gravy, unfortunately, it didn't come separate so I had a lamb meal where all I could taste was mint gravy as it overpowered the lamb and the lamb was certainly over too. By the time we left another table had their food and the chef had gone back to his old ways with their chips as well, it looks like they are being cooked twice they were that overdone. Service was fine, felt sorry for the girl having to deal with basic errors from the kitchen, but she handled it very well. One way around it is to order mashed or jacket potatoes I suppose, so not a great 1st impression food-wise, though I'd definitely go back for a drink as it's a nice pub and shows all the sport.

i have just left this pub after yet another fantastic meali was dining out with my sister brother and niecewe all had different meals ie welsh beef curry, lasagne, beer battered cod,and the horseshoe gammon and 2 of us had dessert.i have to say yet again we all Thoroughly enjoyed our meals.i must also give a mention to the chef who whilst passing out table checked that we were all happy(which we were extremely)but most of all i have to give a very special mention to the young lady who served us from start to finish what an absolute treasure checking in on us more than once to make sure we were happy and we had everything we needed and smiling from when we walked in through service and still very happy and bubbly when clearing our table at the end(nice tip left for you for your outstanding customer service thank you for making my birthday meal special) even the landlord came over to say hikeep it up guys you got it right 10/10 see you soon and thank you again for a very pleasurable dining experience

I recently visited here with some friends and found the service and meal far superior to my last visit. It is under new management and has been vastly improved with the service provided by Judith and the food cooked by Josh. The meal was piping hot and plenty of it with fantastic flavour in the cowboy pie and the dessert was so big you could share it if you were of a mind to. This is a place I can't wait to visit again because the variety of meals on the menu are huge

Went here after reading reviews. Won’t get in to the nitty gritty but Chips were burnt as was the main course, curry was bland. All meals were not good. And a long long wait. I would try again as they were obviously short staffed as barmaid was also serving the bar and serving the food. Fair play she wasn’t stressed but I could here other tables complaining also.

Nice friendly staff , enjoyable meal at fair price , visited pub many times over the years always a good welcome and toilets clean and generally always satisfied.

Cake here this evening with a friend for a catch up and food. My friend is on a strict slimming diet and the evening menu was very limited on anything healthy. She requested a jacket potato or something similar and was told due to it being quiet she could choose something from the lite bite menu which is normally for lunch time only. Her meal arrived and yes it was exactly what she wanted, chicken breast, jacket and salad. Have to say it looked amazing with a very large salad to boot! I had corned beef pie, chipset and gravy which was delicious! Proper chips were to die for. Excellent service and great food, I will return.

Stopped in for lunch on a horribly wet day in half term and left feeling quite warm and fuzzy after enjoying some really tasty home cooked food. We can recommend the corn beef pie, the steak and ale pie and the lasagne - all served with some delicious homemade chips! Just the right comfort food to combat the weather. We’ll be back rain or shine

not a bad little place, got there early, so the food was lh, ht, delicious and full of flavour. Hardly anyone about, which made it easier to get to the food quicker, made it a pleasant dining, lucky shot.

Pleasant friendly pub, had Sunday lunch, beef cooked to perfection and plentiful, came with stuffing balls, Yorkshire pud, roast pots, roast parsnip and boiled potatoes , separately in serve yourself dishes was peas and carrots, and a lush gravy bowl . Food was excellent. Little disappointed not to have cauliflower or cabbage but that’s just my opinion. Would I return, in a heartbeat, great friendly staff and excellent service. Definitely will be trying midweek meals soon.

Went Here Last Night there was a group of us all pre orderd food. I had orderd the beef burger and it looked nice when it arrived but all went down hill from there. It was cold and undercooked so was another member of the groups burger. Neither of us could eat it.. when we told the waitress who may I add needs a course on customer service she was so rude, she went to speak to her manager and because apparently she "table checked" us and we didn't say anything there was nothing she could be done. When I then told her she didn't table check us she said she did, she then storms off into the kitchen knocking a chair over and came back with an even worse attitude than before. We refused to pay for the two burgers as they were both undercooked, eventually she came back to table with no apology and said that we had 2 pay for the 1 burger and there was nothing else she could do . I'm sorry but the waitresses attitude was unacceptable. All in all its a very nice pub but the food and staff are horrible. Wont be back for food

Visited the Hollybush today last minute for Sunday dinner with my grandfather, what a mistake. We both ordered the beef dinner, beef was very tough and the waitress offered us a steak knife to cut the meat. Roast potatoes and the vegetables in general were cold. My grandfather and I sent the dinners back whereby I then chose the chicken and my grandfather chose the pork. My chicken was lovely but my grandfathers pork was really fatty and chewy. The roast potatoes, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding were frozen and I’m pretty sure the carrots and cabbage were too. I would not recommend the roast dinner. On a positive note the young female waitress was really polite.

I visited today with partner and parents, my partner and I both had beef and my parents had pork, the beef melted in your mouth, the vegetables were cooked to perfection and the gravy was absolutely stunning. Would definitely recommend the Sunday lunch and will be returning soon to try the main menu. Thanks again everyone at the Hollybush

Had a lovely evening at the Hollybush Inn with my sister. Our meals were delicious and very generous portions. Staff were very welcoming and a great atmosphere. Will definitely be returning.

Visited with friends on a weekend. Service was good and prices very reasonable. I had steak and ale pie with chips. The pie was small, like you get in a chip shop, but tasted nice. The chips were nice too, but they weren’t real chips. All chips in pubs are deep fried so why don’t they make them from fresh potatoes, it’s easy!

4 of went for a meal on a Saturday night. Nice clean place with easy access. Food was really nice it is good honest food. Prices are very reasonable . We are already planning to return

Wife and I went there for the 2nd time in about 3 weeks having been disappointed at our first visit. Again welcome was friendly and helpful. Shown to our table by very nice, helpful and attentive waitress. Starter and mains were excellent plent of food and quality was excellent. Met owner Jon who came to speak to us nice guy. He recommended the cheese cake. When I asked for it the waitress stated that they had not defrosted it so it was off the menu. No issues had the Eton Mess which was to die for. Glad we went back to give them a 2nd chance. Will visit there again. Thanks Jon.

This is a regular pub which I come for food, there is never no complaints the food is stunning, staff are really friendly and the atmosphere in the pub is brilliant too. Defo worth a try

We recently came here on the 5th of July for food and it was out of this world, me and my partner both had the garlic mushrooms to start they we delicious! I had the 10oz rump it was cooked and seasoned perfectly, my partner had the 8oz sirloin which was equally as good. The young chef walked passed and had a chat with us he was very friendly! Would 100% come back!!

Recommended by a friend I tried to book a table last minute for father’s day. From reservation to leaving the restaurant the staff couldn’t of been more accommodating. Lovely little restaurant with a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Staff were very helpful in setting up a Tab for a party of 8 and being patient with us during orders. Service was prompt with drink orders and courses. Homemade soup and beef roast dinner was delicious, portions were superb and we were offered more vegetables and service check backs were made throughout our meal! On requesting the bill we couldn’t believe how reasonable the price of three courses was especially as it was father’s Day and usually restaurants charge more. The whole experience was very relaxing and refreshing to enjoy a Sunday lunch with family out of the house! It was lovely to see the owner and manager taking time to talk to customers and support the team. Will definitely be returning to try the normal menu.

20 of my family ate at the hollybush tonite & everyone loved it the food was piping hot & the servuce was fantastic our waiter for the evening was rhys he was amazing,very polite & nothing was to much trouble for him outstanding customer service off him considering it was only his 2nd day in the job....will definatley be returning.

Myself and my partner stopped off for a bite to eat on saturday evening and fair to say everything was lovely. Our meals were cooked to a good standard and very good value for money. Vale was our waitress and she was very approachable and happy to help and the barmen were lovely guys too. All in all a great time and will definatley be returning soon.

We live locally & popped in on the off chance to have our tea. The value & quality of our meals was constantly faultless again. Our waitress Kayleigh was excellent in her customer service too! Great pub/restaurant was very cosy interior.

Having doing a lot of travelling with work i have tried many different pubs and i can fairly say this one was one of the best. When i visited the holly bush inn i ordered a panini which is filled with 3 choices which is plenty and very filling lots to choose from too! Myself and my work colleuge will be returning to this pub when we are back in the area.

We recently visited this pub and was welcomed by a gentle man on the bar, was a warm welcome. We ordered drinks and they were with us promptly. We sat down and ordered after 15 minutes.The waitress was very sluggish and laid back and not very lively at all. she came to take our order after 15 mins! when my sister in law mentioned we wanted to order she got up from a table that was surrounded by either family/friends and didn’t really care that we wanted to order. Anyway food came and it was all cooked to perfection and you could not fault it! Will be returning as the food was amazing and pub was cosy just hoping this lady isn’t our waitress. Also the hair colour didn’t suit this specific job either! Red !! And work clothes wouldn’t go a miss just like the other waitress who was smart and dressed in black.

on this visit Mia was our waitress and we were all delighted with the level of friendliness and professional service Mia gave us. The owner John offers an excellent pub menu of quality food very well cooked...and the welcome ( even for a Scotsman) was superb...felt like I was a local.

Well the bush is near to us,it's just had a refit through out and is a friendly pub.we had a pub lunch 2weeks ago all freshly cooked and reasonly priced.

Visited Yesterday lunch time to celebrate my dad's 93rd Birthday.

Disappointed would be fair comment as I expected better as per the reviews. I asked to be sat on arrival as we were not offered a table. The two red haired waitresses came across very laid back and sluggish if I’m honest. You had to prompt them to meet your needs. Eventually we ordered our food after being sat for roughly 25 mins. Three of the six chose the Welsh Beef Curry but were soon informed that only two portions were available? Frozen packaged I’m assuming? Disappointed at £11.95 per portion. Again the the reviews speak highly of this pub since it’s changed hands but I have been left disappointed. It’s genuinely no better than the average The Railway at the bottom of the road. It’s all good having a locally well known name as owner of the premises but if the food is crap, the food is crap.

Heard that the Holly Bush was reopened so thought we would try it there were a few people drinking by the bar and a few people eating the waitress told us there would be a bit of a wait which was fine, an hour later our food came by this time we were all hungry. Got to say it was not the best the presentation was bad you could see the griddle had not been cleaned which reflected on the meal, we ordered a 16 oz gammon when it came there were 2, 8oz gammon we said we wanted a 16 oz and she said ya you got a 16oz you got 2 8oz which was not the same my steak was medium to rare and I ordered medium to well but was so hungry did not want to send it back. Would we go back not for some time if at all sorry guys

Staff are friendly and efficient. Meals were well cooked, ample and nicely presented. Good value for money

We popped in for a drink and ended up staying because the food looked so lovely. We weren't disappointed, it was a lovely meal. We were treated very well by Vale and even spoke with the Chef who came to say hello. Highly recommend this establishment.

Recently visited with friends for lunch. Landlord an ex detective who's getting used Fo the business. The pub was very cold ( no heating on), so we had to keep our coats on. Food average, but piping hot. Staff friendly and warming surroundings.

New owners just in one week but very friendly and welcoming...husband and wife team producing great food and service It is a must to visit..I went with my daughter and grandson and had a superb well priced lunch.

I visited recently on the off chance for a meal with my family, OMG this place is stunning!! Even more amazing is that a couple have recently renovated the building and have only been open 9 days!! I honestly thought that I was visiting a branded chain pub. Amazing friendly table service with check backs, great choice of beers and lagers, to top it off, all our meals were to die for, and were trying each other’s! Will return very soon. Even though it is 30 mins from where we live, I think that we have found our ‘special’ place. Thank you for making it an amazing night!

We hadn’t booked anything and decided to go out for a meal and went to holy bush! It was a nice pub meal with a decent choice on menu but they had run out of steaks which was a little disappointing! Nice friendly staff but took a while to clear the table after the meal.

Phoned for a table as heard how good the food was, lucky to get a late booking. We had booked for 3 but arrived early, not a problem to the staff as they had reserved our table. Pork and beef on offer (roasted not braised ) tipical Sunday roast, meat cooked to perfection (no blood) vegetables were tasty and real home made gravy hot plates was a welcome addition. Not a lot to improve on or to comment on, just lest say we will be back. Service with a smile, you will have a warm welcome and a great friendly service here.

Ok , phoned on the off chance of a table , (fully booked) took our phone number in case of no show, luckily for us we got a table at 2.30. We had the beef dinner, normal roast, boiled taties!, Yorkshire puddings, roast parsnips, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and peas with a huge real gravy bowl. Massive amount of food, Tasty home made gravy dinner. Loved it, ( didn’t eat half of it as it’s a massive meal) will book earlier in future as the beef was cooked to perfection, Staff are friendly here, you enter as strangers and 2 hours later your friends. I have been here 3 times and the deal they have on 2 for £10 meals is superb. I have had the lasagne, hunters chicken and the curry. Quite a large plate and felt quite full. Defiinately returning.

3 of us arrived for late lunch, 1 had scampi, 1 had steak, 1 had hunter s chicken, the service with a smile is excellent and all the food served was cooked to perfection, hot and plentiful. We definitely will be returning. I do think it’s advisable to book. Little gem of a pub with great pub food

Me llamaron en la 3rd hacia Hollybush con mi marido anoche. Aunque hemos vivido en Nelson casi 30 años creo que sólo fuimos una vez hace mucho tiempo. Después de haber sufrido una restauración que estábamos interesados para ver lo que era. El chef la señora y el caballero en el bar era muy amable y nos dio la bienvenida. Nos sorprendió el tamaño de las porciones - mi marido tenía curry, arroz y patatas fritas y tuve, champiñones y jamón tortilla de tomate con patatas fritas y ensalada. Oh Dios mío, que no podía comer hasta la mitad! Yo estaba tan lleno.

Clean, nice staff & parking nearby. Good beer, Doom Bar. Basic menu but deliciously satisfying good portions all round for 3 of us. I wish i'd had that superb looking steak/ale pie & i will definitely return for that. The rhubarb crumble was home made (as was the pie i was told, & it did look so inviting!) & it was heavenly. Just under £29 mains, 3 desserts with side order garlic bread twice, bargain & delicious too. Thanks very much indeed.

We booked a table of 8 for Sunday the 7th of May 2017. We sat down and ordered our Sunday lunch didn't get asked if we wanted a starter so we all ordered lunch, I asked the young boy who was waitering what meats they done he said chicken, pork or beef I asked is there any crackling with the pork he said no!! So 6 of us ordered beef 1 ordered chicken and one ordered pork.. when the meals come out the waiter just slapped it down in front of us. I asked is there anymore roast potatoes please he went to check he come back to our table and said no we each had 2 tiny potatoes on our plates that were from the freezer. The veg was nice and quite abit of veg, the beef was so over cooked I couldn't eat it.. we finished with our main meal and ordered desserts a few of us ordered millionaire cheesecake and when it come round for me to order I asked if I could have one aswel he said there's no more left so I didn't have anything. When the desserts come out they came with the wrong things on then ie ice cream instead of cream.. so I asked to speak to the manager and raised my concerns.. also it says 2 different timings that they stop doing food.. as you walk in the pub it says 4 o'clock and on the board it says 3 o'clock.. I can understand table of 8 is quite alot but they should cater for people. We will not be going there again..

Friendly landlady, friendly chef. Basic but hearty menu. We all cleared our plates. It's a good honest pub and you get what you see. Good value for money

A group of us went here but all of us were disappointed. We feel that they have gone beyond the normal pub food of standard sized portions to meagre sizes and not meagre prices. We felt that they are playing at being something more upmarket but the surroundings do not put them in that category.

Food and service was very good new landlady and her some made a good team, good fresh and hit! Pub was modern clean and warm
