Popped in for lunch with a few friends and was greeted by a (understandably) grumpy waitress. Service was generally very poor. Gave us bottled water rather than a jug of tap. The atmosphere was absolutely dead, no music, no windows open, no vibe really. Food was middling but leagues better food is available within a 5 minute walk. Food was fairly priced but not impressively so. No mystery why they were dead of a lunch time considering the service. Overall I'd give the place a miss but if you're in a pinch, go somewhere else. Update: The steak lunch sandwich has 6 pieces of chicken nuggets sized steak in it for £18. Priced for the location not the food. Enjoy a pint in the garden and buy food elsewhere

Such a lovely pub! I walked past and thought no I’m going to go in. The food was great and priced reasonably for the quality and taste. I had the prawn starter and the pork and scallop main. Will most definitely be returning in the near future

A really lively bar and restaurant in a great location. Full of life and a lovely place to enjoy some food. We had lots of the starter plates and they were delicious and the service was excellent with a really friendly and polite waitress. Getting served at the bar can take a while as they are very busy but it wasn’t a negative. We had a really nice booth on the ground floor and there is a slightly more formally arrange restaurant upstairs. Definitely worth going to.

Would of been higher but three of us came in and everything we wanted wasn’t available, had to make 2nd and 3rd choices. Food that arrived was good though.

Stopped in here by chance looking for a place for lunch on my first visit to Bristol. Delicious food, friendly staff, and efficient service. A nice place to spend an afternoon, and well worth the price.

Just out for a drink, always stop off in here, when we travel down from Shrewsbury. Didn't have food on this occasion, but have in the past and always good.

Just been at the Hole In the Wall and had such a great time. Joe behind the bar really knows his cocktails and even made one tailored to my taste. Definitely ask for Joe when you come to visit.

The fish was mushy not crispy. It was very dark inside they could add some lighting at the table so help.

I went to the Hole in the Wall with my mum because I wanted her to try the Sunday Roast. The food was amazing. The place is also very nice and we felt very comfortable thanks to Mario who works there. He was very professional and friendly. He was telling us stories about the place and came to check if everything was ok a few times. We felt very comfortable and we were very happy with the food and service 😊

Lovely sunny beer garden with even lovelier staff! Liam was especially brilliant - recommended a lovely cocktail and specials. Couldn’t recommend enough!

I have literally never been to a worse place in my entire life.

The food was delicious, well-prepared, and full of flavor, but what truly stood out was the service. Irina went above and beyond to make our evening special—she was attentive, friendly, and very professional. Her warm hospitality made all the difference, and we couldn’t have asked for better service. Highly recommend this place, not just for the great food but for the outstanding service, thanks to Irina! Food was lovely but we were there for 3.5 hours on Mother’s Day due to incredibly slow service. I had to ask for things like a high chair and drinks multiple times. Mains came to us before we’d even had starters and the table hadn’t been properly laid out before we were seated meaning we had to ask for cutlery and glasses for the water. Multiple dishes weren’t available on the menu which was really disappointing. Seemed really badly planned and poorly staffed for such an important day. I don’t really understand the poor service especially since the majority of the time we were there it was empty. We were offered Prosecco on the house as an apology which was lovely but for a £200+ bill this doesn’t really make up for the whole experience.

Ended up here on my engagement anniversary whilst desperately trying to find a nice place to eat after a nearby restaurant was serving nothing but disappointment and MAN what a great turn of events Amazing place to have a pint with friends, staff is all absolutely LOVELY. The dude with glasses who says he dresses like a divorced librarian is fantastic, 10/10. Food is excellent, the scallops were crispy and Juicy. Their butternut squash, onion, and goat cheese tart was sublime. Have been again already and it'll be a regular haunt now

Popped in for a drink with friends, ended up staying for lots of amazing cocktails tailor made to our tastes by Joe, who was a sneaky upseller - well worth it, thanks Joe

Great Sunday lunch with a typical roast, very good. The staff was very friendly, and the service was excellent, especially Gabi's. It's best to book on Sundays.

This is my normal stop first day in town. Good selection of beer, pub food and a short walk to my hotel. I had fish and chips this time. They were decent, not the best I have ever had, but decent. The chips were well fried and a couple pints of cider and all was good for the night.

Always been a fan of this pub! Staff are always really friendly. On today’s visit with my two friends one staff member was lovely, really down to earth and helpful with suggesting drinks to try! Made the best Hugo, you need to try one. 🍹

Guy at the bar was a bit weird. Kept insisting the tables outside had table numbers on them and I assured him they didn’t, after he sent me back outside to get the table number another member of staff had to use a map of the tables to work it out as many of them are not numbered. The guy who sent me out for the table number just seemed to have an attitude about it even though another member of staff confirmed with me my table wasn’t numbered.

Came here recently with some family members and had a fantastic time - atmosphere is lovely and a great drinks selection. Hats off to the lovely staff, Jasmine was great in helping make some excellent cocktail reccomendations that were fantastic.

Good location but food very mediocre and therefor overpriced in my opinion. The £21 burger was hard / dry and with only a trace of cheese and the fish had that not so fresh smell...really disappointing as reviews seemed OK?

We stopped in for dinner and drinks around 6, the staff were friendly and made accommodations for food sensitivities. The cod and chips were incredible, great spot!

Had a great evening at The Hole in the Wall with some friends tonight. Food was great but the most outstanding part of our evening was our waitress, Irina. She was superb! Thank you for a great evening

Coor blimey, if you fancy a Sunday roast, get your ass down to hole in the wall. Food was divine, Tom and Ben scored a home run. Service was impeccable, Gaby knows her way around a roast. 11/10 would recommend.

Observed between 3:30-5:00pm on 23rd Feb a man, 50-65 years of age clearly intoxicated and in very poor state being served more alcohol on multiple occasions. His behaviour, which included unwanted attention towards various different tables was clearly evident for all to see. Intrusion of personal space and creeping up on people would have been very threatening to females in particular. Swearing, obscene language, shouting and singing made the atmosphere uncomfortable, and consequently several people including families left. When I asked the bar staff why they were still continuing to serve him they played ignorant, saying they weren’t aware he was drunk which beggared belief. No action was taken to remove the individual from the premises despite numerous requests from us and other groups. Whether this person was experiencing a mental health crisis or intoxicated is unknown but continuing to give him more alcohol was irresponsible. They have a duty of care towards this man. It was the complete lack of regard for this which I find unacceptable, in addition to uncomfortable atmosphere it created for other guests.

Been a few times and went for valentine’s day. Wasn’t too busy but service was quite slow however the food was nice even though it took a while. Was served by James, who was lovely.

Just had a very dried and overpriced beef burger here, zero value for money

The steak and duck breast were cooked and seasoned to perfection as well as potato chips and green vegetables. The only thing I did not like was rice noodles that were lacking texture and flavor. I would enjoy more having an udon or sweet potato starch noodles for some bite. Overall, I enjoyed it, and I'm thinking of coming back for a Sunday roast.

Lovely cosy pub by the water. Food was tasty and arrived after only 10 minutes. Starters we had crispy chicken and Halloumi Fries and mains the Dirty Burger and the 3 cheese and mushroom pizza 😋

Terrible burger - what a disaster and utter disrespect to customers. I paid £17 for what was advertised as a 'premium cheeseburger,' but what I received was far from it. The patty didn't even resemble real meat, it was more like a plastic, gooey mass with terrible texture. The taste was equally appalling, the overwhelming flavor was just salt and not even close to meat. I cannot think how anyone with respect for their customers could serve something like this. Absolutely shameful

Visited Bristol on a short notice whim. Stopped here on the recommendation of my daughter and i'm glad we did. The staff were very friendly, had a good choice of beer and as bonus we had a table by the fire. We tried the Dirty Burger and the Sea Bass with extra veg off the menu and they were pretty good. All in, food, a few beers and a G&T came to about £70. Would definitely visit again, in fact I intend to !

The experience was disappointing. The food was overly salty, and the dessert was too sweet. We weren’t informed that the kitchen was closed, which resulted in my dad only getting dessert and missing out on his main course. Despite the restaurant not being busy (there were only a couple of other diners besides us), it still took a long time for the food to arrive.

Sunday roast is amazing! Lovely country pub vibe. Visited before a rugby match, so didn't stay long but would happily wile away an afternoon here!

Really disappointing food for the money we paid. Both courses lacked flavour and were lukewarm/ cold.

Staff were absolutely lovely but everything was crazy expensive and for that price, the food was terrible. It is both a pub and a restaurant so we were expecting noise but a massive group were sat opposite our table, most very clearly drunk, knocking stuff over, laughing and cheering loudly and actually screaming. I get that this isnt the restaurants or staffs fault, but not the best atmosphere when trying to eat. Also, toilets were vile, only 1/4 could be used as others either; ran out of toilet roll, couldnt lock or literally had shit spread across the seat (apparently the males toilets were even worse).

Very spacious pub/restaurant with a great atmosphere. Have eaten here at least twice and the food is really good. There's seating outdoors and indoors on two floors, very clean, great service. Highly recommend this place for any occasion.

Christmas Party 2024 WOW - honestly the best Christmas meal we’ve had. The food was 10/10, there were plenty of options to choose from which accommodated everyone in our party. Everything came out fresh and it tasted delicious!! The service was amazing and we were well looked after. You could see how hard everyone was working and it paid off. It was nice to be seated upstairs, it didn’t feel cramped or too loud. It was lovely to have conversations with people and not have to shout even though the venue was super popular - it was a nice balance. Overall a really good experience and we have finally found the perfect place for a Christmas meal - keep up the good work and see you next year.

Not a very enjoyable experience. Cocktails was rushed and not made properly, all the tables were sticky and not clean and the kitchen closed before 9pm! Will not be returning
