Charming Cafe it is. The coffee is very good. The photos of table laid with cutlery and napkins and lovely decor enticed us drive out to Monsal Head where we know the views are wonderful to have a light lunch. BUT We sat at a table and although the place was empty ( very rainy outside ) the staff didn’t acknowledge us, say hello even or explain it is counter service only. If you are expecting food, think again. No meals, No sandwiches, No baked potatoes or anything substantial, just a few cakes, savoury pies and sausage rolls Most disappointing. Wasted journey. WILL NOT VISIT AGAIN. Hassop Station nearby saved the day fortunately.

Cute, quirky café run by a really lovely family. Barista coffees and THE most tempting cake counter. I love the eccentric decor of upcycled antiques and local art set against vibrant coloured walls. The views are just stunning (and even more so from their holiday let). Accessed via a separate entrance, there’s also an Enchanted Emporium selling Snugburys ice creams, pic n mix and more. I’ve always found staff to be really friendly and helpful.

Impressed by the reviews and came to see the viaduct, thought we’d grab a quick lunch. Asked to see the menu and the lady behind the counter just pointed to the small display of cakes. Very strange given the amazing reviews on here, thought we were in the wrong place! Disappointing when it’s such a beautiful spot, won’t return

What a great find, well located on the Monsal Trail over looking the valley. Atmospheric interior in the older part of the cafe and some more modern seating areas too. Good range of snacks and drinks and friendly service. Well worth a call if walking through the area but very popular so be prepared to wait for a table.

Visited yesterday with a large hiking group. The owners and staff were very friendly, welcoming and accomodating. The cafe is really warm and cosy and there is a good selection of pastries, cakes and hot food. I had a pot of tea and a scone with jam and clotted cream - the perfect end to our hike. Other people in the group had sandwiches and soup and it all came out promptly (paticularly given how many of us there were!) and it all looked delicious!

My partner and I stopped here for a drink earlier this week after finishing a decent walk in the area. We only wanted a little bite to eat and a drink so I had a hot chocolate and a sausage roll and my other half had a latte and a Chicken Tikka pasty. My hot chocolate was very tasty (although bizarrely it was not listed as a drink on the menu), the sausage roll however I could’ve done without to be honest; it may have been that it just wasn’t to my taste but I wasn’t a fan. My partner’s drink and food were very nice apparently so top marks there. Perfect location to stop at after a walk.

The dog and I were so happy to see this place after getting most of the way round on a huge, snowy trek. She had a sausage roll, I had a hot chocolate and both of them were absolutely beautiful (I let the speed of the sausage roll’s consumption be an indicator of the dog’s opinion). After a lunchtime visit back in the summer, I asked Kim if she would consider catering for a large gathering in a nearby holiday home. She was very accommodating and flexible. As they have a pizza oven, we settled on a selection of pizzas with accompanying salads and a choice of puddings. This was all delivered to us promptly for our Saturday evening meal. The food was superb and plentiful; communication was friendly and efficient and Nick even carried everything into the kitchen for us. We will definitely order again if available next year.

After visiting many times previously (up till covid times i think) we were so disappointed today in our visit. We had travelled a good way to get there and immediately could tell it was run differently. No gift shop, no hot food after 2. Latte was pipping hot ✔️ however it is definitely not a cafe a tea shop yes. We couldn't have hot food (as after 2) But waitress came out about 3 with a lovely sausage sandwich. Next customer asked for a scone was told there weren't any Next customer asked for a cold can and there were none out. We were only there 30 mins and that was 3 sets of customers who couldn't have what they wanted. No thank you when we left despite 3 girls behind the counter and hardly any customers. I do hope we caught you on a very bad day as I feel sadly your business will struggle as there won't be return business.

It is rare that I take the time to review a cafe, but I was so shocked by how rude the man behind the counter was . There was a family in front of me queuing to get in. They were told to either come in and shut the door or leave . I slipped past the family to find the ladies , and was shouted at by the same man. He asked where I was going in a very abrupt loud voice . When I answered , I was told I would have to wait and to go back outside . There were 6 in my party, all hungry, looking forward to some lunch . We left without even sitting at a table . Having read several reviews, it is abundantly clear that we were not the only customers who have been spoken to in this manner by this rude man . What a shame !

This afternoon my husband I walked on the Monsal Trail.Desperate for an ice cream I requested 2 at £3 each from the ice cream man.As I was waiting for a napkin, one of my ice creams fell off the cone (I didn’t move at all!)A dog came running over and licked it all up.I really thought the man would replace the ice cream, but he just said ‘that’s it’ not showing any sympathy or intention to even give me any at all.It just so surprised me and I walked away with 1 cone and 1 ice cream costing £6.Surely it wouldn’t have hurt to show some generosity as it was his fault for not placing the ice cream appropriately in the first place! The remaining ice cream was delicious, but I definitely won’t be going back and have told all my friends and family.

This area is beautiful and worth the climb from the Monsail trail up some very slippery steps to appreciate the view. We thought we’d treat ourselves to an ice cream from Hobbs, but wow the non existent greeting from the lady who served us couldn’t have been more miserable if she tried. The cafe itself is beautiful, plenty of tables and log fires roaring. The menu and cakes looked equally inviting and we would have been tempted to have more than ice cream had we felt more welcome. However the lady serving barely spoke and it didn’t look like she had smiled for years.A couple in front of us were served with the same lack of interest and this really reduced any warm atmosphere in the cafe.Such a shame, greeting customers with a simple smile can make all the difference.

The cafe was adequate for a quick drink but relies on the viewpoint outside their doors to attract custom as their service and food certainly isn’t anything to visit for. On entering with my husband and 3 month old in a pushchair we went to sit down only for the man behind the counter to shout “can you take that round the back”. We thought the comment had just been worded poorly, and that he couldn’t have possibly called a child ‘that’, only to find a message on the menu saying “children and dogs welcome if on leads!” I’ll never return and hope that the business owners get sufficient custom from people not travelling with children as they’re unlikely to get any families revisiting if that’s the treatment they receive.

My parents (who don't have a tripadvisor account) visited here at the weekend and wanted to say the following about their experience: "Having walked specially from Litton to Hobb's Cafe, my wife and I were incredibly disappointed to be greeted by a gentleman rudely instructing us to put blue covers over our boots before we went. We fully respect thst some cafes do not accept muddy boots but the way in which it was said was incredibly rude and to make matters worse, our boots weren't even dirty! Moreover, the staff did not serve in a friendly manner and we found the food/drink to be overpriced. In hindsight, we wish we had gone elsewhere. I’m adding a photo of the loo to show that it’s clearly available for customers, despite a previous comment (perhaps that’s changed of course!) Nice cakes but you need to take out a second mortgage to buy one. Costs considerably more for tea and cake than buying lunch elsewhere nearby. Wouldn’t be so bad if you were served with a smile but sadly not the case here. I get the feeling that this cafe is aimed at well-to-do pensioners who have walked straight in from the car park outside rather than the vast majority of the clientele of the Peak District. Add to that the fact that they clearly have an aversion to anyone who looks like they’ve been enjoying the countryside right outside the front door (man on till barked ‘do something about your boots’ before I was allowed in) and that the toilet is covertly marked as ‘staff only’ to deter people from using it and I won’t be rushing back. Much nicer places to visit nearby. Only saving grace is that the kitchen and waiting staff were pleasant!

Situated in the heart of the most amazing Derbyshire countryside,Hobbs Cafe, compliments the stunning views with a range of tasty sandwiches, hot meals, cakes coffees and teas all made to the highest of standards.A clean and light environment with a homely feel about it.The staff are friendly and welcoming and the coffee was one of the best we have had(and we've had a few!).I would usually eulogise about a cafe quite so much but this was exceptional in every way

This place was recommended to us for it's prime location and tasty food. It certainly delivered on the former although I personally feel the latter was overpriced

We had a short diversion from our walk on the Monsal Trail, up a steep path to visit Hobb's Cafe, which provided a welcome break. The outside seating looked enticing but it was a bit cool so we went inside. The cafe is very nicely decorated and set out, with a quaint atmosphere. The tea and scones were lovely. Our only gripe is that we are both allergic to dogs and after we had sat down a group with two dogs sat right next to us, and as a result we had to leave quickly. Perhaps a part of the cafe could be designated as a dogs welcome area?

Although a welcome stop, the most expensive coffee of our walking holiday, nearly £6 for two coffees. Great views from the outside seating.

What a little gem this cafe is at Monsal Head looking out over the viaduct. Dog Friendly inside and out. Outside, there is tiered decking with a small area with some fancy breed chickens. Bird feeders, visited by blue tits in abundance just feet away from you. Soya milk available and a plethora of home made cakes, including some gluten and dairy free. Staff were friendly, welcoming and nothing appeared to be too much trouble. A wonderful little find. Make sure it's on your itinerary, if you're in the area.

A teashop with the most fantastic view, excellent service and friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Seating indoor or outdoor. Separate Ice Cream van (Hobbs) outside. Situated at the very top of Monsal Head - you could just sit and take in the views and watch others clamber up and down the wooded walk to the viaduct below.

Large portions. Fruit scone was warm, fluffy yet not overly sweet. Tea was perfectly brewed. Scenery is spectacular. Dog friendly, so long as it behaves.

I called into the cafe on my way back to London - I had a lovely cheese scone and tea whilst enjoying the view but left a bag behind with an unstamped birthday card. I rang (after hours) and the owners very kindly posted the birthday card for me and posted my bag back. Thank you

We called in at Hobb's Cafe last weekend, on a long circular walk from Bakewell. It has a great location high up above the famous viaduct view down Monsal Dale. We grabbed one of the outside tables to make the most of the views, and ordered two teas and a carrot cake.

Went here as a group of 10 friends after a fab walk in Monsaldale. Sat out in the sun enjoying excellent coffee and the wonderful Stilton and walnut scones with pear relish. A delightful place to end a perfect walking weekend. Go there - you won't be disappointed!!

We dropped in here for a drink having been in Ashford for the morning. We sat outside as it was warm enough. They have bird feeders and a chicken run so it attracts some nice birds. Obviously the views are to die for. The staff were very friendly. We might have had a bite for lunch too, but were planning on eating out that evening so when we saw the prices we declined and saved ourselves for later. The drinks were great though.

We stumbled across this place whilst walking the Monsal Trail. Convenient mid point and with the option to eat outside, what a view to enjoy whilst recharging the batteries. Its all light bites and I chose the quiche - and I have to say this was the best quiche I have ever eaten. It was warm the stilton gently melting and the almond crispy topping was amazing as was the very light and buttery pastry. Accompanied with cous cous, butter beans, salad, bread and butter, this was infact a hearty snack and v filling. But not too heavy for the remainder of the trail.

We recently stayed locally for two nights and ate at the Miner’s Arms both nights. Nic was so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious on the first night but on bonfire night, we ordered the greedy Greek platter on Nic’s recommendation and it was excellent! Delicious food, really dog friendly and very welcoming. We’ll be back!

We were staying close by so popped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Service was a little slow initially and they did get my own order wrong, however the manager could not have been more apologetic so first class customer service. The food was lovely when it arrived and the coffee was great also.
