HK Chinese Take Away in Craven

Working in Skipton , we decided to get a takeaway. Picked this one due to reviews. Food was excellent, reasonably priced and served very quick. Will definitely go again. Should have asked for a fork as chow mein is difficult to eat with a teaspoon!!

Not from the area so chose a Chinese based on star rating. We ordered food for 8 people and it came in the time given. Food was fresh, tasty, and hot on arrival. Without a doubt 5 star rating!

Had we known that this takeaway had a very poor 2* hygiene rating, we would never have considered using it. However, we did order here and the food was nothing short of appalling. The ribs were just small chunks of sinew and gristle and had no heat either. The special fried rice was definitely special, but for all the wrong reasons. The meat was dried up and solid, it seems to have been cooked a long time ago as it was dark and inedible. I`m really shocked that this shows as a 4.5 out of 5 on reviews, especially given their food hygiene status and terrible quality. We are now sat hoping that food poison isn`t the second course.

Just had set meal for 4 delivered. Food was spot on. Good value and delivered on time. Thank you HK - Will look you up if in area again.

Hi,all Sorry to have to post this but this was the worst Chinese meal I've ever had, I'm 50 by the way, salt and pepper king prawns, duck in orange sauce, egg fried rice, 60% thrown away, Ps I'd been fasting for two day.

Simply the best takeaway in Skipton and all the surrounding area; always great service and amazing food! 100% recommend to anyone reading their reviews!

Nope. The Level 2 Food safety certificate should have been a sign when ordering... Why isn't it higher? Waiters and supervisors have 2, kitchen managers and owners need a 3. Anyway, we got a lovely food poisoning, and the food was utterly disgusting. We ordered a great selection of wet and dry, noodles and mains and starters. The chicken dish was fine. Still, Probably the worst Chinese we had from the north.

We have ordered from here many times over the years - however tonight will Be the last time. The chicken satay starter was “unusual” with thick gloopy sauce and pineapple chunks in it. My Thai chicken curry was inedible - by either of us and was thrown away. The salt and pepper chips had obviously been standing for ages - all in all a real disappointment. We won’t be going again. I can only assume there has been a change of owner/chef - and having seen the other reviews we aren’t the only disappointed customers.

Such lovely owners, great food, plenty to eat and really friendly. Thanks for a great meal; good price and highly recommend!

Normally Singapore fried rice is really nice . Asked for it extra spicy but this time it was blanned no chillies in it and over powered with curry powder . The women on the phone denied there was no curry powder in it. Look on line for the recipe. Theres a touch of curry powerder. Honestly go to wonderful at the bus station. it's much better.

Had the displeasure of using this place last night .Chow mein had fake chicken and beef and no flavour Also had the fake chicken luminous curry also no flavour as a visitor to lovely Skipton won't be back to this joint

Overdone special foo young with inedible meat, very dry. Spring rolls lacked flavour & batter for sweet & sour chicken balls wasn't cooked. We won't be ordering again, maybe they should change their name.

The food they offer is lovely really tasty food. I give them a lot of business have been ordering from them at least twice a week for the last month as I’ve moved house and enjoy their food. However, tonight I’ve decided I’m going to stop ordering from them. I have a cold currently, and my nose is blocked so my speech is muffled. I phoned them tonight and the person on the phone completely disrespected me and started mocking me as I ‘ sounded weird’ all because I have a cold. Completely uncalled for and unprofessional. This isn’t even the first time me or someone I know has been disrespected by, by HK staff. Sort your staff out and maybe train them to have common decency when talking to customers.

My favourite takeaway food wonderful. Unfortunately they let themselves down tonight by obviously taking on far more orders than they could cope with. Night before mothers day yes but to tell people it will be 25 minutes at 630 then nor arrive at 730 hour later fair enough obviously busy. You don't then expect to phone up get someone on phone that had no clue how to deal with customers who tells u very busy and don't know when food will turn up. The lass then said to someone else how long our order might be. All I could hear was an irate woman screaming in background and was told it could be between 35 and 50 minutes more. Told them to cancel order I wasn't prepared to wait from original order at 630 until nearly 830 as suggested. All I would say is I love this food delicious but surely as so busy they should have said so and waiting time up to an hour. Also get someone who is competent on.phone. To say to someone whose food not arrived after an hour when told 25 minutes originally they had no idea when it would turn up maybe another hour not on. We will of course use again but I think there might have been a lot of cross customers tonight that by being simply truthful how busy they were could have been avoided.

Great food, service and no problems swapping food choices off set menus for 2 etc. Used for years... Never poor.

Good price friendly staff quick service good food.

I’d never used HK before and wanted to try it for my step daughter’s birthday meal at home. I phoned at 5.20pm - it was constantly engaged which is always a good sign. My order was taken and 15 minutes later I was back in my car having paid ( cash) and collected. Great service, good portion size ( even a bit left for lunch) and good price ( 23.50 for 3 meals). Will definitely come back!

This is our "go to" chinese food takeaway. Never have a complaint with anything we've ever bought. Its cash only but not the end of the world. Highly recommended.

We were on a short break in Skipton and decided on a Chinese takeaway. Having been let down by a nearby competitor we luckily dropped on this shop. Amazing and tasty food for four ready in a 10 a minute wait, even though the phone was ringing constantly and food was leaving the kitchen at a rate of knots. A+ don't bother wasting your time going elsewhere.

We send this place a lot of business. To be treated like we have today with no apology what so ever was terrible. They are the best in Skipton but the staff are the worst. It is unfortunate but I will not recommend them for delivery ever again but the food is great.

Been told this place was THE best in Skipton for a Chinese. Sure my Sweet and Sour chicken was sour but it was not sweet.

Chicken and mushroom soup was so sickly sweet must have put sugar in instead of salt. Salvaged the chicken and added it to the chicken fried rice which was delicious as all their food usually is always 5 star for me but not Saturday 23rd sorry HK. Cook let you down

Have had takeaways in past and none come near to how good the food is here. It's freshly cooked with lovely ingredients. The king prawns are best I've had anywhere. Had crispy special noodles and king prawn with veg. Absolutely delicious. The mixed meats and prawns so good in the noodles and massive succulent prawns in mixed veg dish. The food here is better than most Chinese restaurants I have eaten or on a par. Will be ordering again soon.

HK is without doubt the best Chinese takeaway in Skipton. I have been going regularly for years and have never had a bad meal. Staff are great and free delivery available.

Our first time in Skipton and came across the HK Chinese Takeaway. Enjoyed some very good hot food and very tasty. We were served very quickly and despite numerous other orders our food did not take long to arrive. Overall very impressed, will definitely use again...

Have always had a good take away service and the food is tasty but not too salty which can be a problem with chinese I find. Generous portions too so always some left over for breakfast!

Having just arrived in Skipton quite late in the evening decided to have a takeaway. Such a lot of choice but picked this one. We weren't disappointed the food wad lovely, very hot and we got the nicest prawn crackers thrown in. Good portions and very reasonably priced. Would order from them again if ever we stay in Skipton in the near future.

Got to be the best Chinese take away in Skipton. Very friendly lady at the desk to take your order which is quickly cooked and on the counter in minutes. The food is excellent and the choice is superb.And best of all is, it's value for money. A must visit for all tourists to Skipton as we locals know where the best is.

Got chicken curry, house special curry, rice and chips to share weds 21st march...very quick delivery, nice and hot on delivery, very very tasty, had loads left over.

Looked for a change this evening so decided to give hK a try, we ordered the bbq spare ribs with sauce, pork chow mien, a curry sauce and a potion of the salt&pepper; chips, the meal was cold on opening, we’re only 4 mins away from takeaway, the ribs were really dry, the chow mien I’d describe as slimy ? The chips were soggy and the curry sauce was like no Chinese sauce iv ever tasted before, all in all a real disappointment most found it’s way to the bin.

Ordered take away for 6 - very efficient service, small wait. Food excellent, highly recommended. 5 stars

I've been using HK for many years now and have never been let down by the service or quality of their food. If your after an authentic Chinese takeaway you'll find it hard to beat HK.

We stayed at a holiday cottage nearby and called in on our way back from the day out round the market. Our food was ready really quickly and the generous portions tasted as good as we've had in Chinese restaurants. Would def go again if we were in the area.

The food here has really gone down hill!! Used to be brilliant, but the beef was so rubbery, most of it was tasteless and the crispy noodles were like a dried out pot noodle emptied into a dish... not good at all!!

We were visiting skipton for the weekend and given the lack of oven in our cottage after a hectic day out decided to give hk takeaway a go given that it was just round the corner and my friend who lives locally had recommended it. The takeaway was busy, but we were served quickly and only had to wait a few minutes. The food was hot and obviously freshly cooked. We had the chicken and sweetcorn soup which was really delicious. Followed by sweet and sour chicken for the children and beef with vegetables (to try to get in our 5 a day! ) and chicken fried rice. It was all really tasty and we all enjoyed it. Good value.

Having visited Skipton several times over the years, we were stuck for a meal one night and decided to try this take-away. It looks very ordinary from the outside, in fact until now we had always walked past it when we fancied a Chinese meal and headed to the better-known Kong's Chinese Buffet restaurant on the opposite side of the road a few yards down. There are a multitude of Cafes and restaurants in Skipton, but very little in the Chinese restaurants and takeaways. I would in fact say that this is the probably the best Chinese takeaway we have ever tried and found it surprising that there weren't already any reviews on TripAdvisor for it. We chose the House Special Chow Mein and Sweet and Sour chicken with Egg Fried Rice respectively. Both dishes were excellent, really fresh tasting, with the Sweet Sour chicken being especially good with plenty of large pieces of tender chicken and not being overpoweringly sweet as is often the case with this dish. The food really did taste much fresher than at Kong's over the road, and was also around half the price too.The service was fast and friendly, and after a short wait the food was ready. A couple of things to note, they are closed on Tuesdays and also only accept cash as payment. Highly recommended.
