Himalayan Spice in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I visited this restaurant with some of my family for a birthday meal. The prices were reasonable, we received good service, the place was spotlessly clean, and the food was lovely. I would quite happily return.

I had a chicken tikka biryani and it was amongst the best I've ever had, I also had a garlic naan. I was kept waiting quite a while, about 30 mins, and that was my only complaint.

Over paid the delivery driver by £10.00 by mistake. £20.00 meal that I paid £30.00 by mistake, he rang me two minutes after leaving and returned the £10.00 Very honest. Great food, very hot and tasty. Will definitely have food from here again. Excellent.

Awful food sorry. While I hate to leave a poor review for a business as realise that's their work and how they make a living, I also begrudge paying good money for poor food. From my limited experience with curry takeaways in Cornwall (coming from South Wales), they just can't ever seem to get it right and I don't know what it is. It's either Cornwall and curry doesn't mix, or maybe I'm just going to the wrong places. Quite honestly the best things about the food was the boiled rice. Everything else was more or less inedible and ended up in the bin. Wouldn't return.

We have dined here numerous times while holidaying in Cornwall. The Himalayan Spice is a taste extravaganza. Onion bhajis were crispy and aromatic. Each mouthful beckoning another outing. My main was a chicken nepal which was creamy and comforting. My partner proclaimed their lamb dish to be in their top two curries ever. Impressive as always.

Was at the Himalayan Spice with a group of friends and felt that we pretty much had the place to ourselves which was a shame as given the space, it benefits a from being fuller. The service and food however didn’t disappoint and all 7 of us were pleased and complimentary of the quality and taste of the food. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Delicious food, fabulous choices, excellent service. The menu is extensive and very varied. As a vegetarian there are loads of choices, each dish was beautifully presented and a rainbow of flavours. Service was quick, attentive and knowledgeable. Thanku to the team

We have had multiple takeaways from Himalayan Spice and they have always been good. Tonight’s takeaway (12th of September 2024) was amazing and was the best one we have ever had. The cooking is amazing and authentic, the Delivery was on time too. Thank you

The food is gorgeous, but unfortunately let down by every delivery being late. They give you a window from 1 hour- 1 1/2 hours after you order and still turns up 15-20 mins late each time so nearly 2hours after ordering. I’ve asked to be informed if this is the case just for a heads up but no luck so far. Might try a new Indian if keeps happening but would rather not, as the food is delicious!

We have visited Himalayan spice before on our previous trip to Cornwall in 2023, the food was great, as it was in 2019. However, this time (2024) it was not so good, chicken was rubbery, not tikka, the vegetable masala was like pasta sauce with mango chutney added. The bhajis had no flavour. Disappointed, really not a good experience this time, unfortunately will not visit again. The lady at front of house, was very friendly. It's the food that has let us down.

We had a fantastic meal here. The food was excellent and we were looked after very well by the friendly staff.

An excellent restaurant with good quality food, large portions at a reasonable price. I dropped in without a reservation on a Sunday evening and the staff went out of their way to set up another table for me. A broad choice on the menu covering regular Indian dishes with a Nepalese twist, as well as a long list of Chef's speciality Nepalese dishes. I made the mistake of ordering a portion of rice alongside a naan - the mains are quite large and so I realised soon I'd over-ordered. Fantastic flavour, good quality meat (I had the Lamb Nepal) in a rich & creamy sauce. If you're ever in Liskeard, this restraunt is definitely worth a visit.

Food was ok but a bit bland. Service was terrible.. we waited for nearly an hour for a takeaway while I had to stand outside with our dog. After asking about our late order the staff were offhand and unhelpful.

Excellent food and service. Great menu choices. Friendly, discreet service. On street parking is a bit of an issue. Quiet restaurant, not to be judged by its modest exterior and interior.

This establishment has very nice food . I ate hear with my family and it was very tasty, there is large portions that are very filling . The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely eat here again .

Food is ok but don’t trust the time they tell you for delivery (often late) and their “make it up on the night” delivery charges are a rip-off. We won’t be back.

Food is very good, and it is fast delivery, food isn't greasy and has lot of flavour although I would normally give this 5 stars after paying £4.50 for a 1.25 ltr bottle of diet coke to then find it is 2 months out of date is unacceptable.

Ordered through the website tonight and paid by card. When they came to the door they asked me for the delivery charge as the website hadn’t taken it? Think it’s quite rude if I’m honest & wasn’t our faults. The chicken chum chum was over cooked and tough. I swear the chicken gets thinner each time too. Chicken tikka naan had barely any tikka chicken in and the keema naan was only half filled with mincemeat. The korma was good.

Horrible takeaway. Used to be brilliant, what has gone wrong? When did a jalfrezi have cream and almonds in it! Chicken dried out,naan soggy, menu completely different ingredients!! Not impressed 😒

After ordering online and arriving at 8pm to collect, I had to wait 35 minutes before the food was ready and the place was empty. Food was tasteless. Can't say I'd be happy to go back or recommend. I'm surprised they have reviews that high. Maybe a bad night for them.

Respsond: first of all i dont believe he is gone! just the other day driving by saw him inside so to lie publicly like does not help your reputation !!! even if he is gone its, too little too late. when you choose to put your spoiled family member who has no respect for customer as a manager you loose respect from the community just beacuse he is a family member does not mean he can bring his nasty entitled rude attitude to work ! you should have kept him at home far far away from public!! truly horrible and nasty manager runs this place. rude , hateful ! they treated us horribly DO NOT ruin your day having a meal there in this place. you have been warned

Been here a couple of times over the last few years…always while on holiday. Wednesday night is always going to be a bit quieter than the weekend but there seemed to be plenty of deliveries going out. My partner had the Salmon Bhuna with a spicy Tarka Daal and a Garlic Naan, I had Chicken Patia with a Sag Aloo and a Chapati. The standard of the food was first-class. Rich sauces, lovely spiced TD (madras hot) and perfect GN and SA. The restaurant are proud of their curry awards - and rightfully so…great food!

A family night out so enjoyed a mix of meals. Starters were outstanding and the choice of mains all satisfied. Would recommend to others to try this place. Images are the duck ticka starter and the Himalayan Special Curry 👍🏻

It was fantastic I have had a lot of curries in my time and this is by far the best it tasted great... I ask for a burnt naan all the time and this was the only place that did it, I recommend.

Had a curry delivered to a hotel as working here , after a recommendation from a local I ordered chicken Pathia, keema rice, keema naan and starters etc, starters and bread was spot on but the curry was absolutely awful, genuinely have been sh1tting through the eye of a needle since 3 am, if I had t of paid cash, I’d be after a refund , maybe a 1 off as reviews all look good but genuinely was not a nice curry and I’ve had plenty from elsewhere no way near as bad .

Very clean restaurant Toilets very clean Staff were polite and efficient but not particularly chatty. Reasonably good food at reasonable prices, worth a visit. No parking on site or in very close proximity to this venue

Sadly gone downhill. Used to have great food and service and both were absent on this visit. Tasteless mixed starter plate which is now devoid of meat followed by an under spiced curry. Sadly won’t be coming back again.

On arrival we waited 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us to show us to our table of 4. It then took another 10 minutes to be asked if we wanted drinks.15 minutes later our order was taken.45 minutes later the starters arrived after we had asked if we were going to get them! There were no other tables occupied at that time. At no point in the evening did the waitress or anyone else come to the table to ask if everything was ok. We had to ask for more cutlery for the main course and condiments. The food was ok. During the period we were there, takeaways were constantly being taken out. It is not good being pleased about winning an international award for food if your service is dreadful for those who are dining in. We won't be returning.

As a vegetarian it is hard to find good places to eat abroad but this smashed it out the park. We got the Thali and couldn’t have been happier with it as every dosh was delicious. They managed to make spinach taste nice!!

Had a takeaway meal from here and we couldn't have been happier Delivered to us within the time frame given Onion bhajis with accompanying poppadoms, relish and sauce were delicious Chicken Nepal curry with pilau rice, again delicious Our meal could not have been more tasty, full of flavours, the subtle mango flavour in the curry was moorish!

Where do I begin…..group of friends joined us for a takeaway from here. We opted for the meal for four (five of us). Absolutely beautiful food we all tried something that we usually wouldn’t order and soo glad we did! Was honestly up there with the best curries I’ve ever tried!! A1 top drawer from me!!!

I have just eaten in this indian restaurant. Service was prompt although there were only two other dinets apart from myself, so not exactly busy. Had onion bhaji and popadoms to to start and chicken saag with mushroom rice for main. What can I say, mint sauce for bahgi did'nt taste of mint. The bahgis were dry and only tasted of flourn no flavour at all. But were beautifully presented. Which was the same for the ckicken saag with spinach. Again, beautifully presented but no taste or flavour whatsoever. I did'nt eat one fifth of what I was served! The whole meal was totally bland. I was however offered an alternative meal by the very embarrassed waitress, but given what I had alrrady been served, I declined and paid £30. 00 for the experience. Never again, I would highly recommend finding an alternative if you want a decent meal. Very, very disappointed..

Travelling back to our hotel we were looking for somewhere to eat, I found this place on Tripadvisor, thanks so much! We were greeted warmly, informed that we'd need to pay cash, OK & given the most excellent selection of condiments we've ever had along with some poppadom's all on the house. The owner then greeted us, gave us some ideas on what to eat & supplied an excellent Nepalese beer. The curries were excellent, not hot but spicy & full of flavour, great rice & huge portions. You have to visit!

So shocked to see the 4.5 review on this restaurant. Such a bad experience, the take away which I took today was such a disgusting experience. I was wondering if they don’t know to make something why it’s on the Menu or if the experienced chef is not available, at least they could let the customer know. Literally I wasted my £50. No sauce was used in the Chowmein mixed with a lot of masala which I couldn’t even taste second time. Butter chicken and Tikka masala tastes like weeks old. Never been through such a disgusting experience, would really appreciate if u take off the term Indian Food when u don’t know what and how the Indian food is. Rethinking to hire a new chef will be great option if are still looking forwarding to continue your Business.

My friend and I were staying at the nearby premier inn and were recommended Himalayan Spice as somewhere to go for Dinner. OMG we were not disappointed this place was absolutely fantastic. The food was the best Indian/asian food that either of us had ever eaten. From the dips with our popadoms to our starters and mains everything was truely delicious. We are now planning to go back to Liskeard on holiday with our family’s just so we can go back here for a meal lol. Highly recommended you won’t be disappointed if you eat here!

The quality and flavours of the food are lovely, sadly there is an issue between the telephone and the kitchen. The last 3 orders had items missing, most recently 2 portions of rice were missing. So I phoned to see what would be done and I got a half hearted sorry. I asked 'AND?' and was told sorry again. You must be making a fortune charging people for take away items and not packing them. CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE LEAVING THIS RESTAURANT. Thanks for the reply but it is of course absolute rubbish - You claim the person was new but it happened three times and I didn't give you the dates when I picked up the food. So how do you know it was a new person? Was it also a new person in the kitchen every time not packing the entire order? Believe me, I won't be coming back. You have saved enough money by charging for food that wasn't cooked/packed.

Lovely New year eve meal, was all tasty,piping hot and good portions and reasonably priced. Friendly and efficient staff despite obviously being busy with takeaway as well as the restaurant. In all the years we have lived in Liskeard never been but would like to visit again.

I looked at the reviews and wondered. Not sure why though, the food here is INSANELY DELICIOUS!!! I asked my server to bring whatever the chef fancied cooking. She came back with a plate that looked like curried vegetables but was in fact a stunning chicken dish that’s not on the menu. Can’t recommend it highly enough. That’s k you also to the lovely server who who gave really top service

Went here on 5th November for my sons birthday there was nine of us. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The whole experience was amazing. The food was hot and very yummy. Service with a smile. This place is very deserving of their award and I can’t believe it is in our small Cornish town. Well done all staff involved. Highly recommend.

Loved the food - everything was fresh, hot and tasted fantastic. Was at Hoburne Holiday Park and they delivered to us no problem. Arrived when they stated. Would definitely order from them again if we’re in the area.

A recommendation brought us here. A restaurant in a narrow street, hindered by traffic lights and a dearth of parking facilities. Staff were welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient. We were not disappointed in any department. It was a busy Friday night and the crème de Liskeard was on display. In the kitchen, some magic produced was happening. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A great find in Liskeasrd, all dishes ordered were absolutely lovely, great flavour, piping hot and a great variety. As vegetarians there was plenty of options and the vegetable curries came packed full of lots of different veg. Highly recommended and worth a visit.

Great food all round but the service was a bit slow

One of the best Asian restaurants I've been to - and, surprisingly, the Peshwari naan is with out doubt the best I've ever had. The sheek kebab and chicken bhote were also excellent.

The food I ordered to take away was amazing. Each dish was cooked perfectly and the balance of spices and flavours worked brilliantly. The Nepal lamb was especially good. The lamb was cooked so that it was tender and the sauce was balanced nicely with the coconut and mango but not over-sweet which was ideal. Excellent all round. I look forward to coming again soon, but this time to dine in!

Our only meal out on a week away and it was worth it. If they were allowed, I think my children would have licked their plates clean. We shared three starters and four mains. All were delicious. The sauces and chutneys with the pappadums were the best I've ever tasted. Certainly not a cheap place to eat, but worth the expenditure. And it was busy on a Monday night, so recommend booking in advance

Visited whilst staying on a short break. Party of 4 booked via email-quick to respond for a request to book a table within a couple of hours. Popular restaurant. Gorgeous food. One of best I’ve had & I’ve had a lot all around the country & abroad! Garlic Nan bread thin, crispy & not overpowering . Lots of chicken in my main. Great flavours! Husband tried a special-I had a taste -yummy! Very clean tables & cutlery. Service was exceptional too!

We have just left this lovely restaurant the staff were very friendly, the food was exceptional and the service was excellent. Considering that the phone never stopped ringing the staff were very attentive without overwhelming us. There was a nice gap between starters and the main course arriving which suited us perfectly all in all a very nice restaurant.

Unsure of the look of the place from the front as very hidden behind blinds. We got a table even though we hadn't booked as it was a spur of the moment thing. However, friendly attentive staff who changed my order from mild to medium without fuss. We also kept the chutneys throughout the meal as the tomato one was divine. Just super.

Just ordered two chicken Korma but just normally have the sauce with rice. After eating some of this it made me feel sick, so so sweet couldn’t taste anything else. Most went into the bin what a waste of money. This is my first takeaway in months and it was awful.

Friendly staff right from when we arrived. Contrary to what it says, I was with my elderly parents who enjoyed the food immensely. The starters and mains were piping hot and we didn’t have to wait very long at all. I’d say the only downside...
