Takeaway Nepalese curry, absolutely delicious. Really tasty, well Cooked, could not fault our takeaway. Very friendly staff.

The food is great and well priced. Huge fan of the Nepali dishes too. My only complaint is that the time they give you to collect is always too short. That can be quite annoying, however, all is forgiven when you eat the excellent food.

One of the best takeaway curry houses I think we have ever used, asked for the set meal for two and wanted the Buhna extra hot and the main chef/owner obliged clean and plentiful and a bargain for 29.99 would recommend to anyone wanting takeout and seemed very busy also photo attached shows half of the meal deal

From ordering to collecting my order it was a breeze, I ordered online at 17.00 and arranged collection for 18.00 when I arrived at 17.55 my order was almost ready I left at 18.00 the food was delicious and still hot what more can you ask for ?

I really liked the food. They clearly know what they are doing. Good use of spices and a nice heat to the dish. The prawns were well cooked. Service really good too, very friendly and efficient. Good parking nearby. If you are staying in the area for a holiday and getting a takeaway, there is a nice food shop a two minute walk up the hill which is handy for when you are waiting for your food. The business has a five star food hygiene rating which is good to know too. The price was very reasonable. I bought more than I would normally from one near Cambridge and this one was £10 cheaper. All in all, I really liked this place and would recommend it.

The best Indian in Liskeard. Actually, the best takeaway in Liskeard full stop. Freshly cooked, authentic delicious food. Great portion size and great value. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. I keep coming back! My personal favourite at the moment is Chicken Chilli Dry Fry - try it! It's take away only.

We don’t tend to buy Indian often but when we do we always choose the Gurkha Tandoori, the staff are always so friendly and welcoming. The dishes are always so flavoursome, as is are the rice and Naan breads. It’s always our first choice.

We love the Ghurka Tandoori. The food is amazing, service is great (lovely people!), and the kitchen is in view so you can see how the food is being cooked if you so wish - that's always a good sign. We've never been disappointed when ordering from this business. Highly recommend!

Amazing!! The food is reasonably priced and it so high quality it's shocking when you get it. The size of the chicken chunks in the curries are huge compared to other places. Very generous portions for decent prices. Favourite takeaway!

We placed our order via telephone and was at that stage advised it would be upto an hour wait. Absolutely fine, we went and done shopping etc to use the time. We arrived just under an hour later and paid, and then waited. Having 2 under 2 year olds in the car outside with other family members I didn't anticipate having to wait other a further 30 minutes! No communication to let me know how long the wait would be, or to give me an idea of how much longer the wait would be. I had to ask after the further 30 minutes what was going on, and how much longer! I was told that apparently they don't start cooking your order until you've paid. Which timewise would indicate that this is true. But my question is, if this IS the case why not give the customer the option to either pay over the phone (as was told cash only) or advise that once payment received the order is then processed. I would have been fine to pop in and pay prior, and then collect if it'd saved all the waiting around!

On weekend break and takeaway option from here. Food was absolutely fantastic. Truly recommend Gurkha Special Curry (medium hot) and partner who loves her curry said her Patia was worth the trip alone. Great chips and naan. Took a little while to get order as they were busy but that in itself is testimony to the quality. Beautiful, tasty food, great polite service and without doubt will eat here again. Outstanding 5/5 - thank you.

I am 77 and cannot remember the last time I have had such a nice tasty meal. The takeaway is extremely hygienic as the kitchen is on display to customers and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Will done Gurkha Tandoori, Liskeard

Fantastic curries. Nan's the size of a house and delicous as well. I had the railway curry and the wife had the vegetarian curry. Flattened in half an hour.

Very generic curry and not very flavorsome compared with more authentic curries I've had. The lamb wasn't very tasty in my curry. Also the curry sauce itself was quite overly sweet. All could be down to personal preferences but personally I think the stars on the ratings weren't that deserving

I couldn't fault the size of the portions, but the curries texture was very potatoey, and no oil obvious. The potato side dish had no other ingredients much at all. Rice was good.

An outstanding curry! Went in store and ordered a King Prawn dopiaza and a chicken jalfrezi with two rices, naan and papadam. The lady who took our ordered was friendly and efficient, and we came back to collect an hour later. They were very busy, but for good reason, it was well worth the wait! Delicious.

For something they said was gonna be a hour and 20 minutes and 2 hours plus not good at all

We’ve used this takeaway many times and it’s always fantastic. It might take longer than expected to get your food, but you can watch them cooking it from scratch in the kitchen. Whether you play it safe and have a korma, or try something a bit more adventurous it’s always delicious. Highly recommended!

I am being kind, not good and a long wait.

If you want good authentic Indian food then think again. This was possibly the worst Indian meal I have ever had, tasteless rubbish no spices all I could taste was oil. They have NO idea about Indian cooking what so ever. They really need to learn how to cook before running a business. I guess there will be people out there that disagree and think the food is fantastic but I give it a big fat 0 out of 10. Some curries you can buy from the supermarket are 10 times better.👎👎👎👎

Just had a wonderful curry from Gurkha. Having moved here and trying another local curry house with disappointment, we were not disappointed with Gurkha. Perfect crispy flavourful onion bhajis, curries with different layers of built in flavour and giant naan bread. All delicious and devoured at home. Staff more than happy to help with spiciness and happy to accommodate different levels with the dishes. One hour collection wait but not a problem once known. Next time, I’ll just call earlier as we will be back.

The food took a while to arrive but it was 100% worth the wait. The staff are very friendly and the food was outstanding. Would definetly recommend

I was undecided as to how to rate them as we waited over 2 hours for a delivery which was ridiculous. However, when the food finally arrived it was absolutely bloody amazing! Luckily we had plenty of booze to help with the wait. Will definitely order again but will probably collect.

The Gurkha is by far one of the best Indian takeaways in Cornwall. I know people that drive miles to get their food from here and totally understand why. Being creatures of habit we typically have a Chicken Madras, Chicken Shashlick, rice, naan and a potions of chips ( i know how bad that is )Without fail it never fails to amaze us how fresh and well cooked the food is - the flavours are just stunning. The team are amazing, with the chefs working tirelessly behind their Covid screen ( I miss seeing them cook!!!!) and the ladies serving always polite and cheery too. You have it nailed - keep up the good work and amazing food.

I'm dairy intolerant, yes one of those. Told the staff and they cooked me a dairy free kebab meal. Which was lovely, wife is a butter chicken critic and she was really impressed with her butter chicken. Plus the portions are massive.

The food was quite good which is the main thing.The 45 minute wait was 1 hour 15 minute which was a little annoying. The reception area is very poor and quite dirty, in real need of decorating and a clean. Surely it wouldn’t take much to give it a clean and lick of paint.The window into the kitchen has a horrible sheet of flapping polythene which looks pretty dire.

Been going here for years now and never had a bad curry, lamb is always tender and the flavours are always on point. I would definitely recommend the gurkha Liskeard.

We live and work abroad and I always say that as and when we come back to Liskeard this is at the top of places to visit. The last time I was here was Christmas 2019 and 8 months is a long time to wait for a curry! However,, as always, it did not disappoint. Yes, the service is slow and the pick up time is more of a guide than something to set your watch by but so what. It shows that it is not all pre cooked and then reheated. Can recommend all the dishes and often 1 is enough for 2.

it took about half an hour for our food which is understandable as it is cooked fresh. we phoned up and collected the food was very good i got a lamb korma with coconut rice and it was perfect except the lamb was a bit fatty and once i found a hard bit in it but other than that lovey would go again

Let me start with the positive: The food is great no questions about the quality or flavours.Now the negatives: we ordered our food at 6pm and was told it would be ready for 7 we ordered 5 curry's with rice's not a massive order... We were still waiting for our food at quarter to 8 due to them "forgetting" & then proceeding to argue about who forgot.... Not too bothered about the fact it was now 45 minutes we'd been waiting... It was 8pm when we finally left with no apologies for the delay, absolutely shocking service they really need to sort it out as it could be such a good place, we also weren't the only ones with issues some poor woman drove from Looe to pick her 2 curry's up at 6pm she didn't leave until 7:30pm for 2 curry's without rice for gods sake!

Lived in liskeard for a year now & our 1st time for an Indian. I have to say, brilliant service, great food & will become a regular after our family all give our different meal 5 stars. Highly recommended

This is an amazing takeaway, the food is always delicious and there’s always a friendly atmosphere with really good customer service. When we get deliveries they always arrive on time and if there’s any issues they give a call straight away. I highly recommend this takeaway it is definitely the best one I have visited

The food I had was amazing! One of the best curry’s I’ve ever had and how lovely are the staff! They all so nice and welcoming and the service is brilliant! Everything they do is done well and they all work so hard in that kitchen! Definitely recommend to anyone.

From the Midlands ( multi cultural ) we know a nice Nepalese, Indian, Chinese etc but I must admit most of our food went in the bin. Curry itself was spot on but the rest was over cooked. Pappadom was burnt & nan bread was more nans dead.On the plus side the the delivery driver was so polite yet soaked from the rain.

The best curry, always fresh, tasty, spicy ....Naan bread to die for, so love the peshwari !! The chef cooks so many tasty curry dishes you are spoilt for choice. Always busy, so be patient, you WILL enjoy it.

Very yummy food, and cater well for dietary requirements. My sister is not a fan of Indian but said that “the butter chicken with pilau rice was delicious” (I agree!) Very tasty, only complaint is quality of chicken could be better, but was still nice. Stayed warm as drove home, and interesting to watch it be cooked!

Been here many times now for take out food and their choice of dishes are varied with many unique great tastes. Highly recommended!

Rude and ignorant staff, low kitchen hygiene

I started writing this review sitting in the restaurant waiting for my food which I ordered an hour and fifteen minutes previously. I was informed on the phone that the wait was 30-40 mins. I don’t mind a wait for good food but it was as if the restaurant didn’t start cooking until they knew I was there to pay for and collect it. I understand that it is a Saturday night and it is busy however unfortunately, this is not the first time that the wait has been significantly longer than quoted. That said, the quality of the food was excellent as always. Portions are a good size and plates were emptied. Just a real shame about the wait so may have to try somewhere else next time.

Fresh Food cooked before you, well worth the wait ! Tasty traditional food that is the best around, and believe me I’ve tried a few , there’s free delivery aswell, but be prepared to wait they are busy, and you will find out why when you eat there

I have visited the Gurkha Tandoori numerous times now. The food is fantastic, full of flavour and authenticity & cooked to perfection. They are also very friendly too, and I have found the the service to be excellent at every visit. Recommended.

Had a takeaway last night. The curry was very good. It was tasty and they made it a little hotter as requested.

Online ordering on the website was very frustrating as it took us about 20 mins to find and choose everything we wanted then filled in all our details and finally went to pay. We then had to wait several minutes for the restaurant to respond, which it didn't, to find online ordering doesn't work! The site should have an out of order sign or something so customers don't waste their time.

Great curries all made to order and you watch them cooking your meal why you wait does take a wile so be prepared too wait
