Hilltop Cafe in Broadland

A great find, while looking on Google Maps, to find somewhere for breakfast on our way to a nearby aviation museum. Where we had been staying doesn't do breakfast, and so we needed somewhere nearby to eat. This cafe is great, very popular, and it was obvious why. The menu was great, the food was excellent and the staff were friendly. Will definitely choose to eat here again when next up in Nofolk

Had to find the only hotel in Norwich that doesnt do breakfast. Vacated early. Was directed to HILLTOP CAFE,Brilliant Welcome from Gabby, Brilliant VFM breakfast. Made to measure. Perfect start to the day. Thank you Gabby, and collegues. Doc and wife, Gloucster.

I had wanted to stop here for a while and today I did. Friendly staff and lovely food from a traditional menu. A friendly family Cafe.

I met a friend there for breakfast. It was the first time I had been for several years and it was obviously under new ownership since my last visit. We ordered 2 breakfasts and 2 drinks (tea & milky coffee) within a couple of minutes the tea was brought to the table, closely followed by the bill (very strange) after 15 minutes I had to ask for the milky coffee (they had obviously forgot) 30 minutes later the breakfasts arrived (not bad food,but not the best) We also noticed that customers arrived after us, but were served before us (they obviously look after their regular customers first) We were given 2nd drinks free as an apology for waiting (that was nice) It is very small and hence it is VERY noisy when full of customers. I don't think I would go there again. I prefer a proper cafe for breakfast. (This is a Roadside Cafe trying to be a restaurant.. very strange) Summary: Food was average (I've had worse, but I've had a lot better too) Service was not good (things forgotten, Staff talking to regular customers and ignoring others)

I took my dad to hilltop for a lunch yesterday, the waitress saw me take a menu, I went outside and sat down, we waited approx 10 to 15 minutes and nobody came to take our order, then two other chaps turned up and the waitress came out and took their order immediately! She actually walked past us to get to them, she went inside, I believed she would then come and take our order but she was nowhere to be seen, I left and took dad to another cafe for immediate friendly service! (country treats Horning) I can't comment on the food as I didn't get any, but I won't be going back

one of best breakfast ive had for a long time came out piping hot friendly staff and good value will come her again and tell others how good the food is keep the good work up !!

Love going to this cafe with my partner on our days off every so often for breakfast. Food is always good and the staff are friendly, polite and welcoming. Great local cafe reasonably priced would highly recommend.

Been there a few times now because it’s the best place we’ve found and it’s great value for money, really friendly, excellent service and a great full English but also cater for the less hungry with a build your own. Great fresh ingredients locally sourced. See you again very soon.

Very fast service from Lucy and Jill, The breakfast was the best we've had in a very long time. All good quality produce and will definitely be returning with our biker friends.

Builders breakfast was amazing. Bacon was particularly delicious. The staff were friendly and gracious for my aged parents who are a bit deaf. They pulled out all the stops for our old dog. Made welcome with a bowl of water and a sausage. 10/10. Will recommend to all.

This should be more a bistro then a cafe. They are selling instant coffee as latte and cappuccino but they didn’t even bother to put chocolate powder on top. Undrinkable. The breakfast it’s okay if you like unseasoned blend food.

Runny egg white, not pleasant, no windows, acoutics awful, one conversation will dominate so you cannot hear eachother talk. Toilet is disgusting. No toilet roll, no soap, no sufficient lighting for your needs as a female to see what you’re doing! Very unpleasant experience, shan’t be returning.

Call into hill top cafe got two breakfast they were both cold, there was a table with four blokes having breakfast they got up and left saying there breakfasts were cold For what they charge the very poor.

Very nice cafe with excellent service and good quality food. The bacon sandwich was cooked how I like it and nothing was too much trouble.

Myself and my husband stumbled upon this cafe a year ago and we have used this cafe on several occasions since for a cooked breakfast, which has in the past always been good. No issues with the food at all. However, the last few times we have visited, the hilltop cafe seems to have different ‘front of house’ staff who leave tables uncleared and leave customers sitting waiting to place orders for a good half an hour or more. I am more than happy to over look the shocking service in terms of placing an order and even happy to over look the waiting time for food to actually reach the table, but our last visit ( and I mean in every sense of the word) I am not going to over look the rudeness of the very tall young girl working front of house. She had complete disregard for customers when she kept going in and outside leaving the door open every single time. I made a point of asking her to close the door after she left it open and several customers got up to close it previously. She then continued to leave it open each and every time she went outside or came back in! Customers were cold and she had complete disregard for their or our comfort. She was actually asked by several customers to close it, I counted 4 times in less than 20 minutes. She never apologised and just carried on doing it even rolling her eyes the when she was asked repeatedly. For this reason we will not be back, which is a shame because the food is good. But we are not prepared to sit in the cold and be uncomfortable while we eat inside, in the middle of November!!! Myself and my husband were not the only customers to raise this issue yesterday with another lady saying’ if I wanted to eat outside I would’ after her husband got up to close the door twice. I would suggest the young girl have more training in customer service and a refresher on basic manners.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast - one of the best I’ve had in ages. The food was cooked perfectly and the sausages were lush. Also, great value for your money! Definitely recommend this quaint little diner.

Our first visit to Hill Top Cafe and we were both very happy with the service and the food. There was ample parking and plenty of covered outdoor seating but as it was a bit chilly we chose to eat indoors where we received a warm welcome from the waitresses who took our orders at the table. Two Hill Top breakfasts personalised with extra black pudding and actual fried bread and two mugs of tea for about £10 each so good value. We got our drinks really quickly and didn't have to wait long for our food which was plentiful,cooked well and nice and hot. The sausages were particularly tasty and the mushrooms were properly cooked ( not just boiled like is often the case). We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for a lovely breakfast.

I can't complain about the food as it was nice and good portions, but at 11.30am to wait over 45mins for 2 breakfasts when not even that busy is not good enough. the food is placed in front of you, there's no "have you got everything you need" there is no coming back to see if your food is OK, they take your order and money and that's it. The service is slow and the times is what let's this place down. unfortunately this isn't the 1st time this has happened, but everywhere deserves a 2nd chance but they blew that too. won't be back anytime soon.

Extremely poor. Ordered and sat waiting for an hour while others who ordered later than my group were served first. Was told I could not use toilet as it was out of order, later found out only washbasin not working from someone who had been allowed to use the toilet. Not acceptable. I will not be back. Ever.

This was a bit of a gamble. Needed a decent meal one evening en route south to Surrey, not too grand, not too basic. This was the perfect find. It is, atm, The Hilltop Cafe during the day (serving awesome breakfasts) and The Stonehill Bistro in the evening. The bistro bit has only recently opened. The restaurant looks nothing much from the outside and is basic on the inside. However, the food was fresh, cooked to order and delicious. The staff - husband (chef) and wife owners with one helper, could not have been friendlier nor more helpful. We visit North Norfolk regularly, and I'm sure we will definitely use this little gem again.

It was a cold November, myself and my group of friends were rudely turned away from the fireworks night festivities due to overcrowding so naturally we needed a lace to boost morale and warm us back up.Two words; Pulled pork bun.At £2,50, I don’t think I’ve ever made any financial decision quite as confidentially as I did that night. My 3 friends also explained their utter satisfaction in the 3 hot chocolates they purchased also. A complete win from an otherwise wasted evening. Norfolk, hold on tight for the hilltop cafe, never let it go.

We visited the Hilltop cafe today on our way home from our boating holiday, there was 14 of us. The staff were really nice and helpful and the food was wonderful infact everyone of us said we hadn't had a better breakfast ever. As we were such a large party we were also given 10% off which was very unexpected , as we were leaving my grandson was given a packet of sweets for the journey home such a lovely thought.I would definitely recommend this cafe and will always make it part of our holiday. We return to Wroxham to take boats out every year and will always stop here on our way home.Lovely cafe, lovely food, lovely people.Annette

Arrived and asked for a takeaway roll with bacon egg sausage and a splash if red sauce no butter!!!! large tea 2 sugars to go ! How hard can that be ? Well ... Just saying it was about 8am ish and I guess some one was auto . As I dint have any sugars and butter yuck .. I say no more about it.

We're staying locally and found this little gem on trip advisor. There were good and bad reviews but we thought we'd give it a go...so glad we did! The food is top quality, lovely butchers sausages and bacon, everything freshly cooked and piping hot. Service was very friendly and attentive, we will definitely be returning for the next few days. Terrible cooked breakfast. Had it delivered which took an hour and a half and food was completely cold. My breakfast was watery and eggs and sausage not cooked fully. My partner had bacon and egg sandwich which he thought was ok but is now being sick. Total waste of money and I actually feel robbed.

The local hotel we were staying in failed to offer a decent breakfast, so a quick search on the internet and we came across this cafe. We were not disappointed. Very friendly staff and great food.

I must admit that I love my food. So, when I take my family on holiday in the UK we always start it eating out for breakfast. Considering we are just moving out of the Covid restrictions, the Hilltop Cafe at Rackheath near Norwich has made a fantastic job of accommodating their patrons with some splendid outdoor seating.And, what's more, the food is fantastic and fresh and if it's a Breakfast your after, I doubt if there is a finer place anywhere in Norfolk. They even accommodated us with our dog for which there was a water bowl and a treat.5 stars any day of the week...thank you Hilltop :)

It used to be a good place to eat after it got took over it has gone to the dogs wont be going again not after the best chef left it will get worse now sorry

called in for a breakfast place wasn't to busy was told there was a half hour wait . After waiting 1hour and 20 minutes we finally got our food when asked why it took so long we was told they had just eat orders to get first not exactly putting sit in customers first was offered a free coffee but will not be going back very unprofessional

This has been our second visit and the food has been amazing every time. Good old fry up...as well as some lovely lunch dishes and desserts. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed each and every meal we’ve had here. Thanks to the staff, who are always polite and helpful and serve up good, hearty grub!

¡Siempre un tiempo de espera ridículamente largo debido a que muchos solo comen pedidos tienen prioridad! Piense que debe hacer lo uno o lo otro, ya que más de una hora de espera para sentarse con los clientes no es aceptable. Este se ha convertido en un lugar habitual para que mi socio traiga a su hijo durante las últimas semanas, pero ya no volverá. Lo cual es una lástima, ya que la comida es buena.

Varias veces no hubo problema, pero ayer se lo pasó en grande, el personal fue muy bueno cuando pedimos, nos dijeron media hora de espera, muy pocas personas no pudieron entender por qué tuvieron una espera totalmente inaceptable, fue una hora y diez minutos, debería haber salido, pero pensé en cualquier momento, el personal era bueno, se ofreció bebida gratis, pero no fue su culpa, arruinó mi día por completo cuando preguntaron con el personal.

Honestamente evitar como el Rona, no se lo daría a mi perro. Café tibio, jamón gris, huevos nuked, salchichas hechas con bolsas de bolas, párpados y cartílago. Nunca toqué mi plato después de salir por segunda vez, otros tres platos quedaron prácticamente llenos

Great quality food at great price portion sizes are good and available in different sizes on the breakfasts. Staff always willing to help and continually sanitising tables. Will definitely be back even offering delivery now 👍.

6 de nosotros comimos aquí antes de nuestra estancia en Sprowston Manor. Todo estaba bien y caliente y todo salió bastante rápido, pero las salchichas estaban horribles. No parecían lo suficientemente cocidas porque estaban frías y no tenían ningún color y tenían un sabor extraño. Todos pensamos que no eran agradables. Lo siento chicos, todo lo demás fue excelente, incluidas las camareras, pero cámbielas las salchichas porque estaban tan mal.

Normally great breakfast, however this time it would appear that the fried items had been fried in a pan that had been used by something else as the eggs, sausage and mushrooms had that same frying tase that over powered their individual tastes

Heard all good things about this cafe so thought we'd try it out to see for ourselves,and boy were they right..Perfection..would definitely recommend...sausages and bacon tasted amazing big up to the chef 🙌🏼

El sábado, a la hora del almuerzo, entramos ya que estábamos pasando, estaba ocupado, pero no muy claro, hay que pedir en el mostrador, no hay una gran selección, así que ambos comimos hamburguesa y papas fritas, lo primero, la hamburguesa real estaba bien, no hay problema, la masa de patatas fritas sin sabor lo dejaron,Tal vez si estoy pasando me gustaría probar el desayuno, tal vez sea mejor

Había oído hablar de este lugar y, aunque un poco alejado de mí, hice un esfuerzo para ir a una mañana lluviosa de fin de semana, ya que quería alimentarme antes del horrible día que tenía frente a mí. La gente era muy encantadora y le expliqué que no comía carne, pero me encantaban todos los "adornos de desayuno" que me sirvieron el más maravilloso inglés sin carne. Estaba perfectamente preparado y me duró hasta bien entrada la noche.

I haven’t had a breakfast better than this ever! My partner is blind and the owner made a special fuss of our guide dog. Can’t recommend this place highly enough 10/10

Fui allí para el desayuno esta mañana muy amable, excelente comida, James te hace sentir muy bienvenido y hay una zona para comer al aire libre. También puede tomar un desayuno si lo desea. Tendrá que regresar y probar los almuerzos en la semana.

Después de pasar el café Hilltop y nunca parar, decidimos probarlo.

I went as it was on my route ,its the old story you get what you pay for, its not for me i would rather pay more and enjoy what i eat.

Not to bad just felt a bit tired breakfast ok plenty on your plate local sort of cafe ok if your in a hurry

Visito Norwish varias veces al año por negocios y siempre me detengo en Hilltop. Me encanta la comida sencilla sin pretensiones pero recién hecha.

Visitamos regularmente este café para un delicioso desayuno inglés completo para prepararnos para viajes largos. La comida siempre es de excelente calidad y cocinada a la perfección. Tiene un precio razonable y el personal siempre es amable. Se ha vuelto tan popular que se han proporcionado asientos adicionales en un área cubierta en el exterior. Muy recomendable.

Llamamos para un desayuno a unos 6 de nosotros con un perro. Había agua para los perros si la necesitabas. Nos sentamos afuera, fue un día precioso. Y sí, el desayuno era genial y un buen café. Lugar muy ocupado. Volveremos de nuevo.

After our Breakfast experience at the Brewers Fayre the previous morning we decided to try this place because when we drove past it on Sunday it was full of people eating.

after a long drive the hilltop is a welcome sight to break the journey knowing the food and service is consistently good be prepared to wait when busy its worth it ,build your own breakfast or the set one you certainly get plenty well cooked...

We visited for breakfast and it was "fine". It was a BIG breakfast but, we felt, it was rather "light" on the more expensive ingredients (e.g. bacon) in view of the price which does put it at the very "top end" for a roadside cafe....

Came here on the off chance we were heading out towards the coast. Had a great fry up. Really lovely staff - always clean tables. So we've been coming back as often as we can! You can choose a set fry up, make your own, baps, baguettes, sandwiches, tea cakes and all sorts! All quick and hot. Would recommend!!
