Hill Murry in Rugby

Visited last night and did not stay long enough to place an order as this restaurant is blatantly ignoring all advice for the staff to wear masks. From the manager down masks were either being wore incorrectly or not at all. When I asked the manager why he was not wearing a mask he replied 'that he had had the vaccine'. Such an ignorant and ill-informed reply made me to leave immediately. They are an insult to ALL other venues who are working so hard to preserve their businesses whilst still maintaining safety standards

We paid approx £40 for two of us to have starters and mains with rice and naan.What was good - Restaurant and Just Eat got the food out quite quickly. The food was plentiful, well packaged and hot.What was bad - Food was really unappetising. Starters - The bhajis were just about ok but the pakora was like Chinese chicken balls - thick batter all over it. The butterfly prawn was gross - huge lumpen, breadcrummy mess. On scraping this off, the prawn was more or less tasteless. The lamb in the nargis kebab was really dry and so whatever taste it might have had was lost. There were 4 pots of raita which was tasty but wife doesn’t eat this and she was expecting some mango chutney - there was none.Poppadoms were free so don’t want to fuss these - packed well so they were still crunchy. Only downer was the onion salad which was oddly oily and without mango chutney to disguise that, first and only time I’ve ever not eaten all the poppadoms.Mains are hard to review. Was so put off by the meal’s experience to this point that I’d lost my appetite. Had some mushroom rice and a bit of the tikka bhuna but again 80% plus not eaten. Most takeaway leftovers go in the fridge to finish them a day or so later - don’t like to waste good food. Just doesn’t apply with this meal, so most of my £40 has gone straight in the bin. :( Have visited the restaurant a few times and never left unhappy and so very surprised by tonight’s experience.

Delivery service and food were excellent and v good value for money. Ordered the set meal for 2 on JustEat, portions were massive and the quality was great. The curries weren’t oily at all (something I hate!) and arrived steaming hot. Overall delicious food at a v good price - we will be ordering again!

On a Tuesday night we were the only ones in ! Fabulous food but Lamb was a bit tough otherwise very very good and definitely recommend Tomorrow we will try the take away home delivery service

After reading mostly positive reviews about the food, my husband and I decided to order takeout from here last night. He ordered the methi chicken and I went for the Malay biryani. Everything was swimming in oil and the food was far from tasty. The methi chicken curry was overcooked and the Malay biryani tasted bland. We are sorry to say that the food did not meet our expectations and we will not be ordering from here again.

Staff not honest as after over a hour late made contact was informed it was out for delivery. After a further 25 mins still no food so called back to overhear conversation staff had with kitchen confirming order was still in the kitchen and they had thought it had gone out for delivery. Told them to cancel it as I needed to go to work. Ordered my family a McDonald's which arrived within 20 mins.

We arrived early for a Friday night meal, the staff were really friendly. We ordered a sharing platter for starters, the food was really fresh with some very nice flavours, tender meat well cooked. The Main was Really nice again fresh and well cooked. The portions were really generous and we both left full and satisfied. Highly recommended.

myself and my family decided to book here, taking advantage of the 'Eat out to help out' scheme, we'd heard great reviews and were not disappointed. We are a family of 5 and nothing was too much trouble, the staff greeted us immediately on arrival and showed us to our table, drink order was taken quickly and arrived within a few minutes, our dinner was lovey, hot, fresh, plenty of flavour and very generous portion sizes. We'll definitely be visiting again.

We had a excellent meal everything came out together all lovely and hot, nothing was any trouble for our waiter called Ali he was very friendly and and attentive to us all, thank you Hillmurray we will be back.

This is the first time we have used this restaurant for take away and it certainly won't be the last. Food was excellent,as was the service. Portions were very generous Would highly recommend

Second part to my review. I ordered the food over the internet at exactly 6:41pm I then started calling the Hill Murry at 8:30 as it hadn’t arrived. At 10:30 the driver call to ask where I lived. Order if your not hungry.

Visited on. Valentine's night. Had booked a table for 8 but we're not seated until 8.30. It was very busy and we had a seat and drink at the bar which was not an issue for us. When we were seated we ordered from the set menu which was very reasonable for 3 courses on a night when restaurants sometimes hike the prices. Our food arrived quickly and was very tasty indeed. It took a long time for the bill to arrive although service was very friendly it it had a chaotic and disorganised air to it. Would visit again as staff were very friendly and helpful, and as mentioned before the food was excellent.

What a lovely restaurant! Exceptionally friendly staff, we were made to feel welcome from walking through the door to leaving. The food and service was excellent. We will definitely be visiting again when we are in Rugby.

Birthday catering - the guys created a massive take away for me for my birthday at home Dec 28th ! - food was excellent and delivered piping hot for 26 of us. The Extra lamb chops were amazing thanks guys - too class as ever

The food at Hill Murry is fantastic. I regularly eat at Hill Murry and I have never had a bad meal. The staff are friendly and the service is great. They always make me feel welcome!

On recommendation we took friends for a meal and we all said what amazing food we had. Ali , who served us was great and we will definitely be back .

Fabulous restaurant with a good reputation. The food is excellent and the ambiance is great. Our wonderful waiter was Ali, who looked after us very well.The only complaint that we had was that we were seated on table 19 near the front door that didn't close properly so it was draughty. There was also a cold draught every time someone came in or left the restaurant.This problem could be fixed by sorting the door out and adding a solid screen to the side of the raised area next to the door to hide table 19 from this cold draught.

Order take out for the first time as the reviews where good.

Firstly the food was super, however the staff let this down big style. Staff didn't seem to know what to do! Not that full, but unable to take orders, get drinks, no draft beer. Forget 2 of 6 drinks.

Fantastic night. Came in as a large party for my Mum’s Birthday and I can’t fault the staff or food! Great service and our meal was excellent. We will definitely be back. Thank you again for a making my Mums night special!

Excellent food and at a really good price. The restaurant has warm ambience and the staff very attentive. Visited with husband for anniversary and couldn't fault it. Would highly recommend.

Best Indian food we have had for a long time. Superb food,excellent portion size,lovely decor and fantastic service. Highly recommended do your self a favour and give it a go

Went with a group of 10 and we were were all very pleased. Attentive service, good quality across dishes with the chef’s special chicken and jumbo prawn jalfrezi particularly good. I prefer roti to nan bread and that was also very good. Will be back again.

We have just visited with another couple, this was our first visit and certainly won’t be our last.

One of the best Indian in town. Went out with a bunch of friends at the hill Murry. The food was superb the Sulaman range is highly recommended the combination of chicken lamb and prawn goes well. Service was really good especially the two boys Ali and khal. Big shout out the them boys for a good night service. Thank you will be back definitely

Simply, the best Indian food around. I went with a large group last week and the staff also couldn't have been more fantastic! Ali, our waiter, even went so far as to surprise a friend with a surprise piece of cake for their birthday. Great hospitality and I'm sure it would be an epic spot to host a special celebration. Many thanks to the entire team, I'll be back!

Took my wife for a meal at Hill Murry at start she wasn’t keen on it as she loves our local one. As soon as we walked in was so welcomed like we’re going in to a guest house and my wife was like THIS IS SO NICE the atmosphere was really nice with the modern deco. Food was amazing very large portions had to take some home. Staff was really friendly especially the waiter Ali guided us through the whole meal and at the end just to finish our evening off he also gave us complaints which was really nice. Well done . Definitely worth coming in here.

After a few let downs from other Indian restaurant I decided to try Hill Murray.well I'm glad I did, except for the mix up on our delivery which was sorted very quickly and to say sorry a free beer and side of Bombay potatoes.Food was spot-on .Hot fresh and full off flavour.To be honest I brought to much after I saw the size of the dishes .I was thinking do I need an extra dish glad I did not.

The food was delicious and very tasty. The service outstanding, will definitely be going back even my kids loved it and they are fussy eaters.

We fancied a change from our usual Indian restaurant in Rugby, and this (rather strangely named) one is next door to our favourite pub so was worth a try...... and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff are very welcoming, especially Ash and Ali who should be on the stage as a comedy double act! First things first, the popadoms are fantastic, but beware, the mains are huge, so go easy on the starters, we found two portions of rice was plenty for the three of us and we could have done without a side dish, or maybe had a side but shared a main between two people, but if you have a big appetite this is the place for you, go for it. A word of caution though, they are quite generous with the chillies, I would have rated my 2 chilli main as 3 chillies, and my wife found her 1 chilli main pretty hot, but they were both delicious. If heat is your thing go for a 3 chilli option by all means, but pop a loo roll in the fridge before you go out. Given the size and quality of the food the value for money is very good, especially with a complimentary shot to finish, a cooling Baileys over ice was very welcome after the heat of the main, and there’s no extra charge for the comedy duo mentioned earlier. The restaurant is a good size, the decor a little “girlie” for my choice but if pink and purple is your partner’s thing she’ll love it. So, overall, good food, generous portion sizes, good fun and a great location, definitely worth 4 stars and very close to 5

Been here many times the best in the area. The seafood starter is great but whatever you order will be a good choice the flavours are brilliant. Badsha is there to make sure it is a good experience from the quality of the food to the service.

Ash the waiter was so friendly and professional, the food was outstanding I highly recommend this was the new town centre restaurant.

Third visit to the restaurant - what a fabulous place! Decor is a bit sparkly, staff are excellent (especially Ash who served us) and the food is superb. The sharing tikka tikka starter is wonderful. Will definitely be there again.

Traveled from brum to rugby for a family meal n unfortunately their cooker went bust so the whole family went for a meal at the hill Murry n I can’t explain how my experience was. It was one of the best experiences I had in a long time in an Indian the deco the food was amazing and the staffs was so friendly and chatty. Especially the two boys Ali and Ash the gem of the place. Well done guys and I also found out that the lads are also from my brum and travel all that way everyday to give us service so one again we’ll done and thank you.

Had a takeaway. Lovely and hot when it arrived with extras which was a lovely suprise. I had a korma and nan bread finished it all. Hubby had a dish which he found very disappointing. Think it's more to do with being so used to his local and how they do it. I would use again, he wouldnt.

Great Food, lovely staff, never had a bad meal, both in the restaurant and take away, what's not to like.

Me and my friends ordered food at 7.30 to be delivered by 8.30 at the latest. At 9 pm the food had still not arrived so we phoned up the restaurant and were told the food would be 10 minutes. At 9.30 still no food so tried phoning again many times and nobody answered. By 9.45 we ended up going to the local fish and chip shop. Absolutely disgusting!

Fantastic. We went for a birthday meal and we were really looked after from the moment we arrived. Table set up with birthday balloons, drinks offered on arrival and came very quickly.

Visited here on Saturday 8th June with no booking, the staff couldn’t do enough to find us a table despite it being really busy, the food was fantastic and our waiter was really helpful advising what to try etc... would recommend to all.

Following a couple of drinnks in the brilliant merchants Inn, we wondered where to go for an evening dinner.. just by the car park the signs for Hill Murry caught our eye & we hadn't noticed it before. We were very well treated.. good quality friendly service & delicious food in lovely surreoundings. We wil lreturn !

The food was amazing and the staff were very helpful and friendly. One waiter made a fantastic recommendation based upon the curries I knew I liked and it ended up being a very unique curry and one of the best I've ever had. The lamb in the curry was good quality and cooked very well, which is often a concern when I try out a new restaurant. We would highly recommend this place and we'll definitely be back ourselves.

Food was very nice as always, we have been in and sat down as well as take away - both v.nice!

We decided to book here for a celebratory meal, mindful that the last time we went the service was incredibly slow, which we put down to the fact they had only just opened. Sadly - we had the same issue last night. poppadoms arrived in an instant - but the starters then took an age and 1 had been missed off... we decided to leave this due the slow service. The starters were cleared and the hot plates were then brought to the table... we anticipated the mains would be arriving shortly after.... nope! They went cold and had to be changed.

We ordered quite regularly from the takeaway in Hillmorton, last night was our first visit to the restaurant. Food was delicious and service friendly and efficient. A really good Indian restaurant and located so conveniently to the Merchants makes it even better. Highly recommended.

This was our first (and last) visit to Hill Murry. Our first impression was that it was incredibly noisy! More like a works canteen environment than a restaurant for a date night! We were seated promptly (having booked), but we had to wait an age for the poppadoms. We both ordered a starter and enjoyed it, but as soon as we'd eaten it, the waiter asked us if we minded moving to a smaller table in a different part of the restaurant, as he had a party of four waiting for a table. We obliged on the promise of free drinks. These never materialised and we had to ask for more drinks, but were charged for them on the bill. We had exactly the same drinks both times and one lot was charged at £9.95 and the second lot at £10.95. I chose another starter to have as a main, but it looked like a main portion and wasn't at all nice (red mullet). I left most of it. My husband enjoyed his main course. We did get complementary drinks (Baileys) with the bill (this is standard practice, it seems), but we were annoyed to see that we had been charged for both lots of drinks (one lot was supposed to be on the house to make up for the inconvenience of moving us mid-meal) and for a main course instead of a starter, when 'starter' was clearly written next to the dish on the bill. I went over to the bar to complain (as no one had come to take our money) and the owner happened to be there. He wasn't remotely sympathetic and was almost rude to me. I was very polite, but firm. He explained that the waiter shouldn't have offered us free drinks, as only he, the owner, had the authority to do that. Not my problem. He then told me that he wouldn't charge us for one lot of drinks and that he'd be taking the cost of them out of the waiter's wages. Now why did he have to tell me that? Very unprofessional. He then charged me the higher price of the two rounds. By this stage I didn't have the heart to argue the toss over the two different prices for the drinks. Eventually, he agreed that we shouldn't have been charged for a main course as it clearly stated on the order and bill that I wanted a starter portion. Aargh!! How hard is it to be courteous and reasonable with a customer and not quibble over issues with the bill? His attitude will have cost him more than £15 in the long run, as we'll never go back and we have already told lots of friends via social media about the issues at Hill Murry. The whole experience ruined our date night. Not happy!

The best Indian meal had in a long long time

We visited on a busy Saturday night, our table was ready and although a bit cramped was adequate. We ordered 6 off poppadoms whilst we considered the menu. We got 12! The first of the serving mistakes! The menu has plenty of choice. I started with a Nargis Kebab, which was okay, and for my main had Chicken Shashlick. Which was beautiful. Although the naan accompaniment never turned up. However not a major issue as the portions of food were generous and there was plenty to go round. We ordered a white and a red wine, and when the white was finished ordered a second bottle. The second bottle wasn’t the same as the first! So we had to get a third bottle. Also there was a misunderstanding over my wife’s order and what she got wasn’t what she ordered. Quickly remedied. And whilst we were told all these mistakes wouldn’t be included on the bill, we didn’t check thoroughly enough! Too much wine by this point. I’d happily go again, but be better prepared to make sure I got what I ordered and paid for what I ordered.

Had a take away from here a few weeks ago which was ok, but nothing special, decided to give them another chance last week but the food Is no better, nothing seems to taste like It should do from here compared to other Indian restaurants, not cheap here either !!

Arranged a pre-Christmas gathering with family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Hill Murray. Excellent customer service and food was amazing and very well priced. The surrounds were very comfortable and wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone looking to visit.

Our first visit was a thoroughly enjoyable event. We were late getting to our table but were met with witty entertainment and lovely food. Nothing was too much trouble and thank you for the roses. A nice little touch to give us Baileys and Whiskey at the end of the meal (just like being back in Greece!)

Great food , lovely clean restaurant , in my view the best restaurant and take out in Rugby. I have been to this venue twice and had a takeaway it is now the only place we will use.

Had high hopes for this as I'd ordered from the Hillmorton takeaway a few times. It did not disappoint. Very attentive staff, lovely food with amendments to spice etc no issue. The restaurant itself is spotless with a fresh look. Highly recommended!!

Visited the Hill Murry for the first time and will definitely be going again. The restaurant was busy which is always a good sign. Really enjoyed the food and the staff were so friendly, coping very well with our large group of people! A really nice touch was a complimentary drink offered to us all at the end of our meal - a choice of Baileys, whisky or brandy. Well worth the visit.

Very busy and good atmosphere. Service very friendly. But waited ages to order and then for each course, including popadoms. AND food not great.

Another fantastic meal ! Everything cooked well and extremely tasty. The manager and his staff went above and beyond to make hubby,s birthday meal memorable and the little extras with candle in ice cream lovely.

Lovely food - really fresh quality produce and attentive staff. Only issue was sound resonates with little soft furnishings if a loud group in but let the food do the talking :) Nice thank you from the manager. We will be back

We have been using the takeaway in Hillmorton for a long time and so were keen to try the new restaurant. They are a great bunch of people who are extremely friendly and great hosts. The food was very tasty, we tried our favourites from the take away menu plus some new dishes and all were excellent. The service attentive. Wine and drinks are well priced and the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed and comfortable. We will definitely be back

Having already heard a number of positives from various people I decided to book a table for our works night out and safe to say we were not disappointed.

Having lived in Wolverhampton for 30 years and a passionate curry lover I feel well qualified when it comes to Asian restaurants ,Hill Murry is as good as it gets great flavours and well presented I will return.

Wouldn’t bother ordering a takeaway from here unless you’re willing to wait 2 and a half hours. I rang up 3 times only to be told ‘it will be 10 minutes’ 3 times. Poor service. When it finally did arrive it was cold stodge and the delivery driver claimed there was lots of extras, there was no extras and in fact they had forgotten our poppadoms and dips! The onion bhajis and chips had been cooked about 3 times which was obvious. We couldn’t even eat it, a complete waste of time and money.

We went to the Hill Murray for a last minute meal out and I am so pleased we chose to go there! Exceptional service with some lovely little touches such as a free baileys at the end of the meal. The food was the best I have tasted in a long while! Fresh and so so tasty. We can’t wait to go back.

Celebrated my son's birthday at the new Hill Murray restaurant - what a great night! Food, staff and ambiance all brilliant, will definitely be going again - best Indian Restaurant in Rugby. You will not be disappointed!!

Hill Murray has now opened a new restaurant next to the merchant pub in town (Rugby). I have to say this is the best Indian in rugby by far. We went as a family and was truly spoiled rotten. Food was best we have ever had and service out of this world. Please please give this place a go and tell all your friends, I know the restaurant has not properly advertised its open but believe me it is and it's the best by far. Thanks a lot will see you soon Hill Murray

After staying loyal to another takeaway for years, a bad meal led us to try Hill Murray....when we walked in it was so clean, staff were friendly, the menu choice was varied and reasonable priced, out food was brought out to us, in the car it smelt delicious, and when we got it home we’d were not disappointed, no grease generous helping of meat and vegetables in a stunning meal, with 10% off for collection an absolute bargain... we have found a new takeaway....can’t fault our meal and we so enjoyed it...thank you and we can’t wait to come back and try something new!,,

Wow. Drawn to Hill Murry due to its 5 rated food hygiene as apposed to many of Rugby’s Indian Takeaways being below 2.

Not usually a fan of takeaway Indian food but this was AMAZING. Massive portions which were delicious! We had it delivered and it was piping hot! Hill Murry has changed my option on takeaways! Will definitely be ordering again next week :)

We placed an order for collection. When we arrived to pick it up the place looked lovely and clean inside. The man behind the counter was really nice and friendly. We got given extra poppadoms and a free potato side dish.

Ordered as a family for the first time, usually go to Exotica but someone had recommended here. 2 starters, 3 mains, 1 rice and 2 naans for £30. Great value. They also threw in poppodums/chutney and a potato side dish. Great food, nice people and great value. My new 'go to' Indian takeaway.

I have heard good things lately about hill Murry so decided to give it a try , the first thing I noticed when I walked in was how clean it was , made our order then went for a pint in the bell pub down the road, came back and our food was waiting for us with free extra sides the lamb chops starter was really well cooked and the nargis kebab was lovely , the chicken morchi was probably the best curry Iv ever had , my brother had the jalfrezzi which was good although he said it was a bit too spicy for him (wimp) the naan breads were absolutely incredible ,fresh soft and well seasoned, the guy serving in there was really polite aswell big portions and no complaints here , we will be back again soon, keep it up guys, well played

Love the food here, but will never order a delivery again. 3rd time promised repeatedly within the hour, nearly two hours later phoned to cancel the order. No food again for us tonight.... not how

Great food, fantastic 'free extras', will definitely be here again. Happy to keep trying everything on the menu.

We have tried a lot of Indian take ways but this is the best by far food. Always comes hot and very tasty would not go anywhere else let's hope they will deliver when we move to our new home

Been going through the menu for a while and not found anything I don't love! Amazing food. Fresh. All tastes different (no one pot fits all sauces here) staff are all lovely. Food is so delicious I feel the urge to go in after every meal to compliment (I don't as I feel a little embarrassed to be so gushing!)

Ordered food and arrived in the time stated. Unfortunately a few items missing from the order. Rang them and they said they will look after me on the next order. Good if i order again but down on over r pounds.
