Great village pub, large car park, outside tables and lovely cosy pub. Bonus of being really dog friendly. Food at lunch time was gorgeous, specials board and full menu, chose the cottage pie with a bubble and squeak topping served with roast potatoes and three veg. Generous portions and yummy. Homemade cakes and coffee available as well as all the normal selection of alcohol.

It is great to see the Highweek still survives in an age of so many pubs shutting up shop. Came here for maybe the last time, for old-times sake, after losing our final link to Highweek. First had a drink here before my wedding 25 years ago, and many more in between. The menu was a bit limited - Gammon, egg and chips, scampi and Chips, and from the left field, Liver, bacon and mash. We went off-menu and added cheesy chips to that. All were perfectly passable (although we swerved the liver and bacon, as no-one really eats that anyway). The open fire was very cosy, but make sure the landlady doesn't see you give it a poke if you want to avoid a stern rebuke. Decent beer - Jail Ale - and a good selection of keg beers. Hope it's still there in another 25 years.

A cold Monday evening, lovely wood fire burning. Pleased there was decaf coffee. Ordered x2 ham egg & chips, food was under £20. The photo is of my dinner but partner gave me his egg, hence 3 in the picture. I think because of the ham we were given cold plates, so everything got cold quickly, so next time I’ll request hot plates. Friends had scampi & chips & had hot plates. Nice pub, good parking & toilets are very clean-lots to like.

Arrived to be told that they only do Sunday lunches on a Sunday checked there Web site and could not find that that is all they do .was looking forward to a pie or a steak. So was disappointed. But ordered a beef dinner and a chicken dinner .the meals arrived very small servings. Chicken was a chicken beast sorry but no. It should of been sliced chicken .. Frozen Yorkshire puddings and peas as far as I'm concerned peas are not a vegetable for a Sunday dinner that's a cope out also asked for mustard and horseradish which arrived to be given a tiny spoonful of mustard all they could find..for Over £9 .was not value for money staff very what ever .

Used to visit here frequently...returned recently to find it had been completely updated and had a refurb. Place is welcoming, clean and much improved. Covid rulings being adhered to as well. My partner and I 1st visited a couple of weeks ago and tonight. Our meals on both occasions were excellent. Service great too. If you love real ales then you'll find a few here too! We had booked being a Saturday night but we were the only people in the restaurant. Menus were being reprinted so we had to chose from the blackboard in the bar. There was no choice of starters as they had run out of pate and only had a prawn cocktail to offer. We declined. However I would say that apart from the vegetables, they definitely put them on to cook last month, my fish was excellent. I didn't want fried fish and that was the only fish on the menu however I when I asked I was told that as the fish was fresh I could have it cooked anyway I wanted. I had it steamed with mashed potato. It was delicious. My friend had ham eggs and chips and there was so much ham, she really enjoyed it. The staff were very nice and friendly and if you just want to pop in for a meal - apart from the over cooked veg - the rest was lovely. We passed on dessert. Very reasonably priced.

I have read some of the other reviews and note that Cornwall Ozzie, a local, seems to have taken a very personal view of any criticism. Maybe this is because he/she is unable to be impartial. This is an impartial view by someone who was tempted by the Village Inn sign and drove off the main road hoping for a traditonal village inn. Unfortunately this could not be further from the mark. It felt like a Scout Hut. It was uncomfortable and very ugly. Although the staff were welcoming, the place was the least welcoming I have been in. The carpet as you walk in should serve as a warning. The tables are lined up along the wall and covered in a tablecloth. There is a leatherette sofa torn and worn. There is a corner designated Prats' corner at the bar. It does not look clean. We therefore decided to steer clear of any food. This place deserves an award for the most comically tasteless place in Devon. The locals there must not want to go home for some reason, but I would rather stand in the street and talk to people than sit in here.Avoid at all costs if you want a traditonal Devon Inn.One of the reasons we tried it was to avoid a traffic jam going into Newton Abbot, but I would rather have sat in the traffic in the heat.

Our local pub which you can always get a very reasonable meal at, but this was the first time we tried Sunday Lunch there and I wondered afterwards why we hadn't before. A huge plate of roast for £5.95 (or a smaller plate for £4.95) with a choice of 3 meats (beef, pork or lamb). It came out almost immediately and we were asked several times how our meal was. It was really busy with all the inside tables taken but as it was a nice day we sat outside. Absolutely superb

I had to write this as I feel that "devondumpling" is totally out of order. The landlady you are being so critical off is the host of our local pub and I feel very aggrieved about the libelous personal comments you have made about the aforementioned lady. Yes the pub is dated but you cannot fault the warm welcome and the wonderful home cooking you get at the Highweek. How many pubs do you know that give you free snacks at half time during rugby matches? And I'm not talking chips here!! Sorry "devondumpling" you have over stepped the mark here and become very personal. Your critique is not worthy of trip advisor.

Well on first entering I was a little dubious as the pub itself is a very tired 1960,s build which lacks any interior design or character. However not being one to be put off by exteriors or decor decided to go for the Sunday roast. Well I was not disappointed! Five stars for the service and the food. The proprietor and cook even came out personally to check we were happy with our meal. Beautifully cooked roast beef cut in thick slices and very tasty in home made gravy, crispy and delicious roast potatoes, and a server of steaming hot veg all very tasty and colourful. They serve from 12-4pm every Sunday and for £5.95 for adults beats any local carvery I know and taste wise beats them all hands down. I think kids were £3.95 so you can feed the family of four for less than £20 and drinks were reasonable too. A good choice of desserts were offered chocolate fudge cake, banoffee tart, sticky toffee pudding, ice creams etc which I declined as too full up from the large meal! The only criticisms I have are with the tired dining room which could be made lovely but if it means putting the prices up then please stay the same! Hopefully more locals will start to go so more money can be spent on it in the future so the pub can match up to the great food and service. All in all a great meal after a Sunday walk, well done.

We have Sunday lunch here regularly... and occasional evening meals - and hope to do so for evermore. We've tried most of the the pubs and eating places locally for Sunday lunch and then discovered the Highweek and look forward to coming most weeks now. Can't be beaten. Lovely grub (with table cloths and folded linen napkins to make us feel a bit special :-) .... delicious, generous dinner with a choice of three meats usually and nice big, delicious, home-made, afters ....served by lovely polite and helpful staff. Polly, the guv'nor, is always keen to please and it's always a pleasure to be served by the bar staff too. Always a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere with no pressure. You can eat in the pub/bar (with a real open fire) or in the separate and spacious dining section (which has enough space for a big party). Hope it doesn't change. I want to come here when I'm 80!

We had a lovely roast here, the food was very good value £5.95 but a Very basic "menu" 3 roasts or fish pie so avoid if you're fussy. Not sure if they do a full menu during the week. The food was well cooked and came out quickly. A 10 year old boy pulling his dads chair away as he sat down was hilarious and highlighted the family spirit in this pub. Fairly Reasonable price of £3.10 for a Thatchers Cider. As this is the closest pub to me I could be visiting more often now I have tried it. Highly Recommend.

We all enjoyed a tasty, reasonably priced breakfast. Service took a while but that was explained to us and they were very busy. Good sized portions; my Eggs Royale (with smoked salmon) was delicious. Quite a noisy space, difficult to hear at times, again, probably due to how busy there were. Easy to park (and free!) Not sure where the ‘Italian’ theme has come from?

It is always an enjoyable experience coming to No Limits in Newton Abbot (Devon). I have food allergies and they have a fabulous menu that can cater for so many whether that be allergies, coeliacs or vegan. I really like their ‘pay it forward’ scheme which helps provide food and drinks for people who are having a difficult time. Most importantly, it is brilliant that they are providing opportunities for people with various needs and it’s a pleasure to be served by such enthusiastic and happy staff :-)
