Highland Restaurant in Broxbourne

We went to the Highland restaurant for a Greek night one Saturday night. The food, entertainment and staff were absolutely amazing. The food just kept coming all night with a variety of dishes and was reasonably priced at under £30 per person which together with the entertainment into the early hours was really good value. Thoroughly recommend this place and will be looking at going to another event night they host. Also look forward to the steak night and the Sunday carvery as well. No doubt they will be really nice. We'll done Highlands!! 5 stars from me!!

Had an amazing night to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the meze was scrumptious and plenty of it that we had to take a big doggy bag home with us. Jimmy the manager is a fantastic host and Tas Diastello who was rhe DJ that night playing English and Greek music was a fabulous entertainer who also played the keyboards, flute and saxophone 🎷 that night. It was also excellent value for money and I have been back literally 3 times in 3 months. Highly recommend

Went to Elvis tribute night and had the best time , the only complaint I would have is the portions of food are too big . All of our party had different , one had steak , perfectly cooked and all the trimmings . She couldn't finish , the lovely waiter was very concerned until she reassured him it was not the quality but size of the meal , he offered to box it up to take home . All staff are lovely and the owner ( Jimmy ) makes you feel like an old friend . The entertainment was great , the night passed so quickly plenty of dancing and singing along. 3 course meal and drinks was £46 per person I can't remember the last time I had such good value for a wonderful night out . We certainly will return .

We had a wonderful experience of traditional Cypriot Meze. We have tasted Meze in Cyprus and Greece but the quality and variety we were served at the Highlands was by far the best we have had. Definitely worth a visit.

Amazing food, big portions and attentive staff!

We had an excellent party at Hyland's. Food was great quick and service was excellent. Party atmosphere was brilliant I just booked another night as it was so much fun.

Went for the Greek night. Had a fab night the music was great all night, Greek and English. Perfect place for a night out with friends and great music to dance to. Will definitely be going again

i cant give no stars thats why its one star. made a booking for last night for 8 people hired mini bus turned up and place in darkness totally closed. any way went down road to Mento's bar and grill brilliant food so thank you Mento's for providing a brilliant night.

I've had better. Toilets: The bathroom is sub par, the hand dryer is worse than shaking you hands, the actual room is cold, and the taps were broken but still functional. Dining area: Seats were uncomfortable, cramped to the point where I had to walk out of the restaurant plenty of times (I'm claustrophobic) Food: I had garlic mushrooms as a starter, the mushrooms were good but the sauce was bland, no flavour at all. The Sunday lunch was okay, potatoes were soft, pork was really herby, turkey was actually good, peas were good not mushy, apple sauce was cut into bigger clumps of apple but has a nice flavour. For desert I had profiteroles, and call me greedy but 3 profiteroles covered in a messy, sticky chocolate sauce is not a desert. Service: Service was slow, yet they did their job kinda effectively. Overall: Would I eat there again? No. Would I recommend it? No. Was it awful? No. It was okay, but not recommended at all.

Went here for dinner last week. Food was very good and had some live music which was good but not intrusive. Unfortunately wasn't able to have the meze as my wife is pescatarian and daughter has narrow tastes. Had a mixture of dips and veg/ fish dishes for started including calamari and halloumi. For the latter the waiter asked if we wanted it fried or grilled which is always a good sign. All very nice. Daughter had fillet steak for main for which there was a decent sized portion for £30. I had pork souvlaki which was good and wife had octopus which was really good. Not massively busy in there for a Saturday night (4-5 other tables) which I was surprised about given how the good food was. Decor may be a bit of an issue as feels a little in need of updating but that's not a big issue for me as the food was good. Staff very friendly. Would definitely go again.

My wife is writing this review as she chose this restaurant for her 70th birthday celebration, the day before her actual birthday last week: I wanted a traditional Sunday lunch for my family and a few close friends. There were 26 of us and I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Jimmy and his staff were so welcoming and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. They were attentive without being intrusive and, although the restaurant was very busy, we were made to feel it was a private party. Everyone in our group, aged from 5 to nearly 80, couldn’t stop thanking me for choosing this place and were full of praise for the food and service. Most of them had not been there before and said they would definitely return. We had a delicious three course meal, with a good selection of starters and desserts. The carvery main course had three excellent meats, all the trimmings and several vegetables. Prices are very reasonable, portions are large and service charge is not included but I was more than happy to leave a 10% tip. The following Sunday just my husband and I went back to enjoy another lovely meal. Thank you Jimmy and all your lovely staff!

Another Sunday, another roast dinner. Highland is a fairly run down restaurant and looks very dated & tired. Definitely needs a glow up. The food is fairly tasty, but mediocre. They serve carvery roast with all trimmings. A choice of starters & desserts and it’s 3 courses for £18.95, so fairly good value. All staff were friendly and attentive. Not necessarily somewhere I would visit again unfortunately.

Lovely restaurant, first time we had ever been and we will definitely go back, we had quite a wait between starters & main BUT all the food was freshly cooked and was piping hot and very large portions, the sirloin looked amazing, much prefer that than a dinner that comes out luke warm. Staff are all very friendly & polite and nothing was too much trouble for them. Drinks are very reasonably priced all in all we had a great night celebrating our sons birthday.

My second visit Saturday evening on 3 February with our friends, arrived at 19.00hrs sat down and waited 5 minutes for a waitress to take our drinks order while we decided what to have,drinks arrived 10 minutes later. Soon after the waiter arrived to take our orders. Considering their was only 3 other tables with customers already there before us I was surprised that the starters took over an hour to arrive, then the long wait for our mains by 21.10hr I called the waitress and asked her if she could find out about our order, she returned and said it’s being processed 21.20 it arrives. So 2hrs 20 minutes later I’m looking at the most tiny pitiful T bone steak that looked like a small steak chop, the fillet side of the steak just didn’t exist and the other half was like shoe leather I gave up trying to eat it and just hate the chips and called the waiter and complained £29 for this NO! He took the plate and returned shortly afterwards and said their was no charge for my meal. My friends also had issues with their food. I noticed the table in front of me also complained about the delay of their food arriving. I found the music to loud as well and by the time we called for the bill around 22.00hrs I had enough. We didn’t leave any tip and told the owner when leaving. Won’t be going back.

Stopped by for a Souvlaki takewawy , gotta say it was pretty good, add some more parsley, a little more onion and you got a authentic cypriot souvlaki .Definitely stop by again ps , pork cooked superbly Ilia

We had a really lovely meal (steak) at this restaurant, they were very accommodating and we're extremely welcoming and friendly. I'm looking forward to eating here again in the future, and I would definitely recommend the food, delicious - my steak was cooked perfect.

To celebrate my Grandsons birthday we went as a family to try the new Meze menu. The food was fantastic, and plentiful, the different plates just kept coming. Lots of different dips, sea food platter, meat platter and Greek salad. We all came away "stuffed" There was a Greek singer singing traditional music and we all felt as though we were back on holiday in Greece. The bill was reasonable and will definitely return. Well worth visit!

We had my daughters birthday at Highland Restaurant , the food was so delicious and delicate. The staff is so polite and helpful.Totally recommend it👍🏻

Always a pleasure coming here!!,nice white crisp napkins and tablecloths.Always feels you've come to somewhere special, which of course 'you have'. Staff always polite,friendly and helpful. Looking forward to my next visit !! Edit . Back again for a Sunday Carvery, spent a leisurely couple of hours or so ,enjoying the food and the atmosphere . And still very good value for money of under £20 for a superb 3 course meal

Another excellent carvery meal at a reasonable price. Tender beef, a very good selection of vegetables and all cooked to perfection. Good choice of starters and desserts too although I always choose garlic mushrooms, and either baklavas or very tasty cheesecake! Can't go wrong eating here!

Had a very enjoyable new year's eve meal. The live music was great and a lovely atmosphere. Couldn't have picked a better restaurant to celebrate the New Year.

Nice restaurant and good quality food not much choice for vegetarians or vegans and dessert menu not clearly marked to inform of vegan/veggie. We had Sunday roast carvery but no option of a nut roast or anything veggie that would go nice with gravy. Staff don't know either which desserts were veggie. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

5 of us went for a Christmas party evening, good service but the food really let it down, I had a cannelloni for my main which was dried up and bland and had the caramel cheesecake for desert which was soggy, really disappointed after paying £37 and having to go home and eat!!!

20 of us went last night for our Christmas meal we all had such a great time food was hot and delicious and we all had different meals the staff was very good and friendly can't recommend enough

Went here for a work Christmas dinner. Wasn’t impressed at all. Table booked for 7:30 yet wasn’t served food till after 8:15 even though we had pre booked from their Christmas menu. My starter was the garlic mushrooms. Which was basically button mushrooms swimming in tinned mushroom soup that had had garlic added to it. My main was the turkey dinner. The meat was dry, the potatoes and vegetables were exceptionally salty and the Yorkshire pudding was very over cooked. My dessert was the lemon meringue that was soft almost soggy although I’m quite sure a meringue should be firm on the outside. Very disappointed especially as it was £36 per head. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

The restaurant is clean and presentable staff were friendly and attentive the owner polite friendly and decent unfortunately was all let down by the food which at best was mediocre there wasn't anything that stood out for me the meat was fatty and was very greasy this I'm basing on what I ordered and not too suggest other things on the menu were not better drinks were quite heavily priced as well i think if the food was better thought through with more attention payed to its quality would make this dining experience a whole lot better than it was Staff were 8/10 food was 3/10 atmosphere 5/10 cleanliness 8/10 value for money 4/10 that's my honest opinion

Went there for Sunday roast definitely gone down hill I’m sorry to say . What’s happened to the beef used to be a great big bone in rib now you get some sorry looking beef that you can buy from Morrisons waited for at least five minutes before the roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings arrived. Staff lovely manager lovely they just need some professional help . Been there during the week when it wasn’t to busy food lovely . As soon as it gets busy they go down hill . Will definitely give it another chance but definitely will not be returning there for the roast dinner

Good food and friendly service, I would ring first beforehand to check as they do theme nights over the next 3 months and it can get booked up.

Great food, great price, great service

The food was absolutely lovely. I had a porterhouse steak, my partner had a lamb shank. Both meals were outstanding and the portion sizes meant that neither of us emptied our plate. The service was very good and the chocolate martini is to die for!

This is place looks like a normal steakhouse from the outside, but it's a step above. The service made me feel like a lord. Not only is the food amazing, they have entertainment on some nights it's worth checking out.

Wow can’t recommend this place enough, first time visit here for a birthday meal, and the food was unbelievable, my steak was cooked to perfection, and the service was amazing really pleasant and friendly staff, and the owner of the restaurant is really down to Earth and out going! If you ain’t been I’d definitely give it a go!

Just had the Sunday carvery and absolutely stuffed. 3 delicious courses. Good selection of veg and 3 meats. The staff are most attentive and friendly.

Incredible tomahawk steak we enjoyed! 1.6kg shared between the wife and I. Probably the best steak we have ever had in the UK. Everything was perfect! Onion rings to die for! Ended off with great coffee martinis Service was impeccable and friendly as always.

Had a fabulous entertaining evening with Mario the talented Elvis tribute artist, last Saturday, celebrating my mums 70th birthday, with 18 of family coming from all afar areas. Hosted with great communication and direction to his team by Jimmy. Nothing too much effort.. Food was tasty. Especially the lamb , moorish..can't wait to next time we go there..

The staff are lovely and friendly, they danced with us! The food was very nice and the singer was very good. An all round great night was had by all,I definitely recommend it for a works do.

We have been a couple of times recently. The first time we got offered a bread roll but this time we didn't. The toast with the mushroom starter wasn't as crunchy as last time and the potatoes weren't either. Last time they were some of the best I'd ever had. Still excellent though. My only criticism, as with many restaurants is frozen brussels. I absolutely hate the texture and find it a let down. As it's a carvery I don't have to have them but..... fresh ones are so very much better

Had a Christmas party here and venue was good, food was good and entertainment wasn't bad either.

Definitely to be recommended. 3 courses all of which were superb. The roast potatoes were golden and so crunchy. Service good and extremely friendly.

We went on a Sunday so was limited to only a carvery. Starters were ok and fresh bread and butter was in great supply. Customer service was great overall. No children's menu and they ran out a lot of things like ice-cream and biscuits for children's desserts.

Had a 90th birthday party great tribute act robbie William's very good and started the party staff and food excellent could not fault it at all thank you highland grill

Sadly the tribe act cancelled at last minute due to Covid BUT the replacement act was brilliant. Food was very good along with great service. Was not too crowded either so felt more Covid safe. Was so nice to have a good old dance after way too long. Overall we have a fabulous evening and look forward to returning soon

Young waitresses helpful BUT cakes tasted as tho they had been defrosted. The scones were hard and tasteless and the cream also had no taste at all. Plenty of tea and coffee was available

We had a family meal for our golden wedding anniversary,we have been here for various family meals.We usually go for the Sunday roast, which is a set menu for £16 99pence .This comprises of a starter,the roast dinner,which has two choices of meat all the trimmings.There is also a vegetarian option or fish if you do not eat meat.,a pudding with about 6 options also the same for the starter.The staff are very friendly and helpful and efficient.

My wife and I both really enjoyed the steaks we had here. She had the larger fillet, while I went for the T bone. Both were cooked just the way we asked.

Great night for a friends Birthday , food that everyone else had was good however I had the Lamb Shank and it was the worst Lamb shank I've ever eaten, it was very fatty and grey looking, came with mash and no vegetables, Comedy entertainment was fab, staff attentive after a slow start.Hand Dryer in the ladies needs updating as was useless

I order a fillet steak which is normally a very soft meat, small and quite thick, If cooked well it would melt in your mouth. Well the steak they served me was not a fillet steak and it was as hard as my shoe…. disgusting food. i had to pay an extra £7.50 for that and i would definitely not recommend this place at all. The starter was nice but very disappointing!!

Being Fathers Day, the restaurant was busy with many family groups. I had garlic mushrooms starter in a cream sauce - delicious!! There was plenty of choice of vegetables and meats. I chose roast beef. and I can honestly say that I have never had such tender roast beef. There was a good choice of desserts too and I had my favourite warmed, chocolate fudge cake. How they can do this for £16.95 is amazing.I am so glad to see that they are now able to take small groups and I shall certainly return.

My Sunday lunch was delivered at 1 p.m., as requested and piping hot. I had ordered gammon which was cooked to perfection. I was amazed at the selection of vegetables - more than I would have cooked, even for Sunday lunch, at home!There were roast and mashed potatoes, sliced carrots, peas, parsnips and Brussels sprouts and delicious cauliflower in white sauce. There was also Yorkshire pudding and stuffing balls with hot gravy in a separate container.This was a man-sized feast and I shall certainly order it again. It was delicious.

Very impressed with the food and service received, it was top draw. The restaurant has met all covid requirements and not once did I feel uneasy. The food was a great choice and good value, delivered hot and a reasonable price. Well worth the visit
