I seem to visit this place so often, as it really is the most gorgeous hidden gem in the little town of Driffield. Staff are always so polite and welcoming and the house itself is utterly stunning! I've eaten dinner and breakfast many times in the last 3 months, all of which have been superb! The coffee is also fantastic! It's a beautiful setting and the menu has something for everyone's taste. I would not fail to recommend, thank you so much Team Highfield!

The service matches the classy aesthetic of this superb venue. We arranged for a Sunday lunch, booking was a breeze. Even on a busy Sunday we parked without any issues before proceeding to reception. We were taken to our table in the well decorated dining room. Service was not rushed and the whole experience was very relaxing. A Sunday roast can give a good baseline of a chef, and this did not disappoint. Beef, pork and veggies cooked perfectly, tasty gravy, crunchy roasties topped off with the essential (oft neglected) Yorkshire pudding. For dessert we opted for the festive chocolate Christmas pudding, and chocolate and chestnut fondant. The pudding was as rich as you'd expect, and the fondant perfectly gooey in the centre. The addition of chestnut is a nice festive touch, but the flavour too subtle for such a heavily flavoured dish All in all, this was a five star experience and we plan to be back soon to explore their A La Carte menu.

Just love this hotel. My husband and I have stayed here twice, the most recent time with our furbaby Macaroon. The dinner and breakfast are superb, the staff are so friendly (shout out to Craig for being so accommodating and helpful) and the rooms are so comfy and beautifully decorated. We came back in June for the date night offer and had a wonderful meal. The large porterhouse steak to share was incredible and the sides that came with it were delicious, recommend the creamy cabbage!! A few of our party had fish dishes and commented on the taste and presentation. Drinks selection is vast and the staff are very attentive and welcoming. Great value for money for the quality of food and service received, a real gem and a big asset to Driffield!!

Poor service. There was 2 hr delay in getting main course. Manager gave no reason but just apologised. Delay in same 2nd bottle and was charged wrongly by £10 more. Unable to finish dessert as 45 min delay as taxi waiting. Price of meal should ensure better service.

Perfect! A stunning house and beautiful room. We stayed here because we were going to a gig in Bridlington, but wanted somewhere special to stay, and boy did this fit the bill. The house and rooms are beautifully designed. Everything has been thought through and you can tell that the family who own and run this have really put their heart and soul into making this a special stay. All the staff were lovely and helpful and the food was amazing. We had Yorkshire vegetarian breakfast and mushrooms and poached egg on sourdough toast with hollandaise sauce - delicious! We will definitely be going back here to stay as there is a lot more to see and do in the area. Thank you Highfield for a wonderful stay.

A review from a completely different point of view. I attended The Highfield as a musician not as a guest. Regardless, I was looked after fantastically by the wedding team and all the staff. It was easy to get to, & stunning to look at. So many interesting nooks and beautifully decorated rooms. I had the pleasure of playing outside with my mobile outdoor system for my guitar. Such a wonderful setting to sit amd play some Acoustic Guitar for a ceremony. I played 2 weddings a few weeks apart. Never been there before then twice in quick succession. Hopefully I will return soon to such a wonderful venue.

Our first Sunday Roast at Highfield Hotel. I had the pork roast which was excellent and my husband enjoyed the beef. The vegetables were plentiful and we were tempted to have dessert. My Strawberries & Cream Mille -Feuille was worth the calories! The dining room is a beautiful setting with windows and doors to a very attractive terrace where it’s possible to have pre or post dinner drinks. The staff were attentive, Gemma in particular served us with a smile and showed care in all she did. A very positive experience and hopefully not our last.

My husband and I visited to celebrate a special birthday. We were greeted upon our arrival by a very friendly member of the team and shown to our table in the restaurant straight away. The dining room itself was stunning and we were blown away as we didn’t expect it to be so lovely. Although we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, there were a couple of things that let it down, hence only scoring 4 out of 5. Firstly, my starter was supposed to be blue cheese bon bons but after I ordered them was told they were actually goats cheese - which was ok and they were still lovely. Secondly we both had steak for the main course and although it was served with chips the presentation was somewhat lacking. At a cost of £29 & £39 respectively we felt that should have been reflected in the presentation. Very tasty though but very expensive for what it was. Lastly, I had one scoop of ice cream for my dessert and although it was delicious, the nicest salted caramel I’ve ever had, it was the smallest scoop ever and served in quite a large dish which made it look even smaller. At £4.50 a scoop I felt a little ripped off - definately needed to be at least 2x the size to make it worth paying for. If i’d know I wouldn’t have ordered it. However despite these shorfall’s we would return again in the future. It was a lovely night out in beautiful surroundings.

So, the positives. Beautiful grounds, eclectic but beautiful rooms and lovely staff. But, but, but at this price I expect everything to be looked after. So I was disappointed (and this is very first world problems) with lack of coffee, my room left with one coffee cup for a double room, room service made the bed, I didn't want towels changed, but I do expect fresh coffee cups, tea bags, coffee bags (these were very good) and sugar to be topped up. I'm fine with the fridge being communal but it would have been a good idea to have one bottle of milk for every room. So, in short, a beautiful hotel, with lovely staff, but management need to pay attention to detail. No glasses for orange juice at breakfast was typical of the lack of attention to detail. The breakfast was okay, but nothing special. Tight on bacon, one average sausage.

I want to love this restaurant - there is so much to like: beautiful decor, the investment made into maintaining the building, the fact it’s local etc. But it’s Pipe & Glass prices (another local Michelin starred gastropub/restaurant) without the premium food & service to match I’m afraid. Our latest visit included our waitress forgetting to bring bread to the table, a long wait for starters, not all starters arriving at once, inadequate clearing of used plates/glasses and an incorrect dessert order. It’s a pity because the staff are polite & friendly, and the food is good (altho the starter size is very petite) but if you’re going to charge premium prices, everything needs to be top notch and at the moment it just isn’t quite there.

I was a little concerned after booking dinner at The Highfield House after reading some recent reviews, but we had a truly lovely evening. Lucy (who I believe is the senior waitress) took care of our table and was brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble even though it was a busy Saturday night and the restaurant was full. In truth, all of the staff are commended for their friendly approach and making the evening enjoyable and relaxed. We chose from the a la carte menu. there was no requirement to request any adaptations but i know that they are happy to do this if there are any food allergies. Both the food and the drinks were definitely reasonably priced. We enjoyed the food greatly and we will return at the next opportunity.

What I thought to be a quirky hotel turned out to be a well loved, thoughtful hotel. Each room has a story behind it, and each is beautifully decorated. The hotel is warm and welcoming, as are the staff. Everyone was there to make our stay memorable. We were only bed and breakfast. It must be said that the breakfasts are excellent. The bar closes pretty early, but it is a short walk into the town. The history of the house is interesting, and the gardens are a lovely tranquil walk after breakfast. I would highly recommend you get one of the staff to show you around. I loved it and will make a return visit.

We were looking for a nice place to stay around Bridlington, we found The Highfield and it fitted the bill. We had a lovely day out touring the coast and arrived to The Highfield for a night. There was plenty of parking and the post code pretty much took us to the gate. We were greeted and escorted to our room with some great info. Our room was stunning, loved looking for Bees and Batman (you'll get what i mean if you've stayed in that room. Everything was provided , and the little tea, coffe, sweet jars round the corner was a great idea. Special thanks for the dairy free milk. The shower gel, shampoo etc was really good. That good i've ordered some from Amazon for the Mrs. The bed was really comfortable and the Netflix was a great addition (once we had a remote ,ha ha) I've mentioned my dairy intolerance and the Evening menu wasn't really for our taste, so we went to the Old Star in Kilham (10 minutes away) and had a fantastic meal there. The breakfast was really nice, lovely quality food cooked to perfection. We would certaily go to the Highfield again, The price was great, service was exceptional and the room was spectacular.

We got the beef sharing dish £70.00, the beef was absolutely full of fat, upon complaining and going to pay the bill the waitress said “the chef said it was a bad cut of beef from the butchers” yet we still had to pay for this bad cut of pure fat! So the bill in total was £163.00 and then my partner had to come home and order takeaway because there was practically no beef on the main dish, other than fat

Wanted to book afternoon tea for ages and thought as an early mother's day treat it would be the perfect. The staff were lovely and my mum and I chose the sparkling afternoon tea. My mum had the prosecco and I had the winter cocktail which was yummy. The food arrived and most of the sandwiches I liked, the pear and blue cheese vol-au-vents were amazing as were the cakes. The scones were so fresh and yummy. We were both stuffed and had to take the puds home. Our only gripe was the moaning minis on the next table who seemed to want the red carpet rolled out for them. They were complaining their heads off but as soon as staff came they said nothing. Probably saving their bile until the bill came. I gave the lady on the front desk the heads up. I've worked in hospitality for years and staff work too long and too hard and get paid very little to have to deal with that. Keep up the good work staff.

Went here for a four generation family birthday breakfast. Sadly of the 5 breakfasts we ordered only one was correct. Sent mine back as it was not what was ordered (this was rectified but was once again not as the menu), the rest had various elements missing plus the cafetière was exceptionally weak. This is a beautiful place BUT the food does not match the surroundings. I have contacted the hotel TWICE but not received a response. Having waited two weeks for a response I feel that, sadly, this is the only way I can get my point across. Fantastic venue with average food.

My friend took me for my birthday lunch. Very limited menu start choice soup, fish pie or steak and ale pie. Side was a salad. Extras offered were chips or bread and butter. We both ordered fish pie. My friend ordered chips with hers I didn't fancy chips and mash so didn't bother. When it arrived the fish pie was like in a metal curry dish which unfortunately was a bit rustie on the handle, a bit off putting. The salad came in a condiments bowl. It has I slice of tomato 2 slices of cucumber and a few sprigs of lettuce. No option of peas or any other veg. Very limited menu. Was never offered any salt, pepper or mayonnaise for the chips and was never asked if everything was alright. It wasn't that busy only 4 tables dinning. Came to just under £40 with a pot of tea for 2. Will I go back again properly but off putting was the lights dimming all the time.

Heard so much about this venue being good but after trying it I tend to disagree. Actually, it was very poor quality and even worse quantity. Starters were minuscule but reasonably tasty. However, the shared beef main course was terrible. A large steak, more bone than meat, a few kale leaves and some onion “lumps” on a very large butcher’s block. A snip at £70!!! The only good point was that the gravy was excellent. We came home and had some crisps…

Well what can I say , visited here many times before , always had amazing service & excellent foods . Decided to take son & daughter in law for dinner & what a massive disappointment ! What’s happened Highfield ? You are going to loose so many customers if you don't pull your socks up & employ a decent chef . Daughter In law ordered the soup , this was salty she could not eat it , my husband and step son ordered Duck had trouble finding the morsel of duck , one bite & it was gone , the smallest starter I have ever seen , I had the Veggie option pear , pear tasted of nothing but the rest was tasty, well thats the starter out of the way . On to the main ; 2 beef dinners ordered , one Pork and a cod , well the beef was dry and turned up at the edges , cannot understand why you would serve 2 pigs blankets with this , 2 insipid sausages ( I tried a little of this and it tasted terrible ) Asked for some more gravy this was like water and tasteless. The same was said about the pork which was suppose to come with crackling ( well we got a smallest shrivelled piece of I think was suppose to be crackling ) again everything was lacking taste . I sent my beef back and the other 2 roasts partially eaten , has for the cod was served on top of a small half bits of potato ! Sweets : cheese and crackers shared by 2 was ok ( maybe cannot do anything with that , due to them not having to cook anything ) husband ordered apple crumble , he stated that the apple was hard and the crumble did not taste good either he also had a role of what we think was suppose to be ice cream ( but he was not sure what it was suppose to be ) I had a coffee & my so called pear starter did not want to order anything else due to looking the rest of the foods that was served . Why don’t you have the brilliant head waitress you had and the brilliant chef ? We had tastier foods at a pub the week before at a quarter of the price ! I don’t mind paying for good food . So sorry to have to write this , the house is an amazing place and it was always special to come out to The Highfield , but we will not be coming back & I will not be praising you to friends anymore.

Visited this restaurant and was bitterly disappointed at the value for money and attitude of the owner. We arrived at 6.30pm for table of 5 and were told by the waitress that the beef dish (the main reason we visited the restaurant) Was sold out... 6.30pm? We then witnessed 2 tables being served that very dish! The other options on the menu were not very appealing so we opted for vegetarian dishes which were terrible. I booked our table a month in advance as it was for a special occasion. I complained to the waitress and asked for a discount off the bill due to the lack of choice regarding our preferred dish. However the so called manager/owner so I was told, would not even take the time to speak to me and I was given the excuse that he was busy in the kitchen and was not prepared to discuss the matter. Good luck dining here.. You have been warned!

A very disappointing first visit to Highfield House after being recommended by friends. We arrived at 6.30pm on Saturday night for a special occasion meal (after having booked over a month in advance) to be told the main reason we were visiting, the 'Big Beef' had sold out. This was very disappointing for so early on a Saturday night and we overheard others complaining too. The soup was served with a skin on the top of it and had clearly been sat on the pass for a while. We were left with very few options and most of the table ended up having a vegetarian/vegan dish. Minimal food for the price and lack of understanding from the owner/manager who wouldn't even take 5 minutes out of the kitchen to discuss our issues. The house itself is very nicely decorated but unfortunately this didn't make up for the rest of the experience. Very disappointed and won't be visiting again.

Decor was really nice, very friendly staff from start to finish. Lucy and Vicki looked after us throughout our evening and were excellent. We had complimentary bread which was fresh, warm and unreal! The duck for starters, very tasty and well presented, we went on to have the big beef to share which was cooked perfectly, very tasty and well presented. Finished with treacle tart dessert, was the only thing that really let the meal down as wasn’t the best tasting one we’ve had but was still ok and well presented. We come here often. Yasmin, the owner, is lovely and friendly. Always remembers us and our likes and dislikes. Don't be put off by the decor, especially if you are a certain age proflie; the coffee is superb, for instance. If you order food, be prepared for ample helpings. Don't assume, if all the seats in the front are occupied, that the place is full. There are other seats out back. Oh, and they do wonderful cocktails too and are about the only cafe in Pocklington which stays open after 4pm. You will find this little gem at the North end of the main street, up by the Post Office and opposite a wonderful florists.

The Falcon Inn stands in the Heart of the East Yorkshire village of Withernwick. We chose to go on a Thursday evening as it’s Steak night! My husband and his parents chose steaks and I chose the home made beef lasagne from the main menu. I have to say everything was gorgeous, beautiful tender steaks and the best lasagne I’ve had on a meal out for ages! The pub has a lovely atmosphere, made very welcome by the staff on entering the bar area, and drinks were brought to our table in the dining area. If you are on holiday or just visiting friends near Withernwick, call in for a drink or food you won’t be disappointed. Altass family, Leven, East Yorkshire.
