The frickles are so good! We got the Tuesday tex mex deal. Tasty food and a great portion for sharing. I knocked one star off because the food wasn't that warm (except for the frickles). The strawberry daiquiri mocktails are delicious!

Love this place comfortable pleasant surrounds... staff really look after you...food is always good and tasty...and if its birthday meal the staff bring out a complimentry candle and small cake and sing happy birthday too you adding a personal special touch to your meal...there are private outside booths for a more intimate gathering...all in all a fab destination for a family meal out.

On arrival was not made to feel welcome, we didn’t book a table as it was a Tuesday so didn’t feel the need to book. Starters were very poor, the nachos were very basic and sloppy. Main meals were below standard, ordered a veggie burger for £17.50 and it was just awful, cold and tasteless, the other mains were very average. Didn’t bother with deserts as the starters and mains were poor / below average. Was charged a £9.90 tip on top of the whopping £130 bill. To be honest I should have complained about the whole experience but didn’t want to make a fuss. We won’t be returning as there are far better restaurants out there at far more attractive prices. This was our family treat and it wasn’t good at all.

Came here on a Tuesday evening for my birthday meal, booked for 5.30, food was ok and initially service was good but as soon as we got our meals they ignored us, had to eventually go and ask someone to clear plates and get us a dessert menu- desert menu didn’t come so had to get up again- and again to get someone to take the order, I wanted to go home at this point as it was late but couldn’t let the kids down, it was now 8pm 2.5 hours after sitting down! The kids were board and misbehaving, I was tired. It’s put me off unfortunately. When we eat out with kids we need quicker service than that and not to feel forgotten about

The servers were really friendly and approachable. We went on a Friday night at around 8pm so it was very busy and loud, which isn't great for those with sound sensitivity but nothing a pair of loops couldn't handle. The live music in that night was really good though. The noise levels had managed to reduce to a more manageable levels towards the end of our meals Food was really good, although I expected a bit more meat on some of my ribs but that may have just been that batch.

Always great food but seems permanently rammed out so not a place to chat and catch up due to noise levels. I may be a grumpy old woman but the kids running around unchecked, with hot food being carried by the staff seems like a recipe for disaster. Control your progeny maybe!

I have had the platter for one in other restaurants in the chain and they have been better quality. I found this platter on the dry side.

Food was great and the decor makes you feel like you're in America! The staff were friendly as well, three stars isn't a reflection on them. However, automatically adding a percentage tip to the bill for Cash for Kids on top of what I already paid left a bitter taste in the mouth. 1. Pay your staff properly so they don't rely on tips. 2. Tips are for the staff. Don't guilt trip them into giving it to charity. 3. Don't guilt trip me into giving it to charity either. If you care about it that much donate to them out of your profits. Very sneaky. I wonder, if it was Hickory's making the donation, would it be 10 percent?

Overpriced and underwhelming. Steak was like chewing gum. Nice building. Still waiting to be asked if we want dessert, will update if any improvement on the mains

We ate outside in one of the wooden huts as we had the dog with us. It was clean and tidy, we had the heater to keep the chill off us. The service was very good despite us being the only people to eat outside. The waitress was very polite and enthusiastic about the menu and gave us some ideas having never visited a Hickory's before. The food came hot and was extremely tasty, well presented. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable lunch.

Had some delicious food today. The server was very nice and suggested a few starters/mains we went for the platter for 2 it was very tasty and plenty of choice. Would recommend.

Amazing mouth-watering food and fantastic service! The fact it had a cinema inside for kids is a genius idea! We were due a 5 hr journey back home after our lunch, and the waiters went above and beyond by giving our son extra popcorn & a drink for the journey home! Please bring this to essex!!

Another visit today, food still outstanding

Staff didn't care about us. After being sat down, they took their sweet time to come and get our order yet the place was not full. Food was VERY salty. The corndogs was very pricey. I did like the free popcorn but won't be coming back.

Absolutely outstanding food. We had burger, brisket, fajita and chicken and all stunning. Kids drinks were superb too. Highly recommended and definitely return. Absolutely love this place. The food is so good. We shared the smokehouse platter between 3 of us , plenty of food. Staff friendly. Love the outside seating area.

This was our first meal out this year and we were looking forward to a great meal after reading other reviews, however this was not the case. We were greeted and shown to our table, lovely waiter services. Drinks arrived and my glass was dirty, with lip stick marks on! The food was okay, maybe I just picked the wrong thing. The shrimps were more like the old style prawn cocktail, I went to squeeze the lime on and it was old dry and shrivelled up. We were sat near an open door and felt cold. I should have asked to be moved. However, nobody at anytime asked if everything was okay. The tables are squashed together so you could hear everyone else's conversation. It's not the place for us. Our meal cost £120 with one alcoholic drink. We came away feeling disappointed.

The decor and atmosphere is second to none - really vibrant atmosphere with lots of America decorations. The service was a little slow but cheery servers and the food was good - lots of meat and very sweet! Would liked to have seen some more balanced options but it’s a one off. The campfire marshmallows were fantastic - a lovely experience to have the little fire!

Meat was great - brisket melted in the mouth. Deserts are absolutely poor - lemon meringue waffle - the waffle was hard, the cookie for cookies in cream again rock hard. Terrible deserts.

The staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. You can also sit outside in either your own cubicle or table. The food is presented very well and tastes as good as it looks. It's great for meat lovers but there are other options. I can't wait to go again

Absolutely amazing smokehouse food, really friendly, attentive and helpful staff and we turned up during a Disney Princess brunch, but the staff still found us a quieter place to eat. Honestly can't recommend the place highly enough.

Definitely a different dining experience , it's a nice restaurant. The menu sounded unusual and varied and we all placed our orders with the attentive and friendly waiters. The food and drink was a disappointment however. We all commented on how the drinks were all served in strange pots and jars and none of us enjoyed the highly coloured selection served, far too Disney ! A simple beer, lager and lemon etc would have been much tastier and better matched to the menu. When our various dishes arrived we mostly enjoyed our food but the actual meat portions were far too small for the price. All the men were disappointed after reading the menu and actually sizing up what was served.

Visited for a friend's birthday, staff were so lovely and welcoming. Food was awesome, only downside was not enough parking and the venue isn't easy to get to unless you live close by or drive.

Nice food, good service, as a group of girls meeting every few months we like to take our time, and they needed the table back which was fair enough as we had been 3 hours but the bar was too busy for us to stay longer.

Booked a table online for my family’s first dinner out in months, looking forward to a nice meal. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. We arrived on time but were left waiting for over 30 minutes before being seated despite being told it would be 5 mins. Once at our table, a waitress took our drinks order, but we then had to flag someone down 15 minutes later just to place our food order. The service felt disorganised, and the staff seemed uninterested. When the food finally arrived, my child’s mac and cheese was cold, which was disappointing. No one checked back on us at any point, so we had no opportunity to raise any issues. The food overall was good—decent portions and acceptable quality—but nothing groundbreaking for the price. What made the experience even more frustrating was that there were plenty of empty, dirty tables, despite the restaurant showing as fully booked online. I had even called ahead to try and book, only to be told they had no availability. After checking other reviews, it seems this isn’t a one-off issue—many people mention the same thing: great food but poor service, long wait times, and tables sitting empty because there aren’t enough staff to clean them. To top it off, a 7.5% service charge was automatically added to the bill, which felt like a slap in the face given the lack of service. We didn’t have a designated server, with different people taking our order, bringing food, and handling the bill, making the whole experience feel chaotic and impersonal when I was happy to pay to feel special. At £75 for three people with no alcohol, it felt overpriced, especially considering the lackluster service. Like many places, they seem to be cutting back on staff while still charging premium prices. Won’t be returning in a hurry.

Had a fantastic dinner in Preston! The food was amazing—hands down the closest taste to Texas we’ve found. The staff was incredibly friendly, and a special shoutout to Chris for making our experience even better. We’ll definitely be coming back many times!

Wow. First time today and I will definitely come back. We had the shared platter for two. It could easily feed 3 people. My son had the marshmallow that you could roast on your table with real 🔥.

Brilliant food and great service.

Table was booked for 7.30. Didn't get seated till 8.10. Due to this we was just finishing dinner and they told me I needed to order dessert, as the kitchen was shutting. This gave us less than an hour to order food, eat starters and mains.

This is one of my favourite places to take the family. The staff are amazing, you won't find service like this in many other restaurants in the UK. The food is great too if you like American style meals.

Wow why haven't I found and ate at one of these places before. The food was absolutely amazing. I've never had meat served so tender before and it was mouth wateringly tasty. It's not cheap by any means but it was worth every penny.

Review of Hickory’s Smokehouse Hutton by my Family Our family visit to Hickory’s Smokehouse in Hutton started as a delightful celebration for my wife’s birthday, but concluded with a taste that was bittersweet, largely due to an unpleasant encounter at the end of our meal. Atmosphere and Initial Impressions Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the bar staff who introduced us to a variety of American bourbons and shared intriguing stories of their historic significance. This thoughtful introduction set a high bar for the evening, with the staff demonstrating both knowledge and hospitality, hat off to these guys, they know their stuff. Service and Cuisine. The servers at Hickory’s Smokehouse were nothing short of excellent. Their attentiveness ensured our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. Each dish that came to our table was not only timely but cooked to perfection, showcasing the skill of the chefs. The atmosphere throughout the evening was electric, making it a perfect backdrop for making cherished family memories. Unpleasant Conclusion Unfortunately, our wonderful experience was marred towards the end by an incident involving a staff member named Coulson. As we were concluding our meal, Coulson presented our bill with a pre-included tip of (£15 which he added without deservedness) This was unexpected as he had not been involved in our service throughout the evening. When I inquired about this charge, Coulson responded in a manner that was both shocking inappropriate, and cringeworthy, especially in front of my family. His defensive, aggressive attitude and the manner in which he addressed our concerns were out of line with the otherwise stellar service we had received. Despite this, we sought to resolve the matter discreetly and spoke with a manager who assured us that the issue would be looked into. It was important for us to recognize and reward the staff who directly contributed to our enjoyable evening, rather than feeling compelled to reward someone who did not participate in providing the service we experienced. Final Thoughts While the majority of our visit to Hickory’s Smokehouse was exceptional, the incident at the end was unfortunate and not reflective of the high standards of hospitality we initially encountered. It is our hope that feedback like ours will be taken constructively, ensuring that future guests do not encounter similar issues. First time at hickory’s today and we were very impressed. The food was delicious; we had fajitas, mac and cheese and the meat platter. The cinema room is a brilliant idea to help keep children entertained while they wait for food. The free popcorn was also delicious! We will definitely be back. It was very expensive but a nice treat and worth the money.

Went for the first time. Ordered half a chicken. It was small and not a lot of sauce on it. Ordered beef rib. It was tender but lacked flavor and seasoning. It's also quite expensive, £58 for two mains and two sodas. Price includes a tip (optional)

An absolutely fantastic night, fully catered for my Sons 13th birthday. The atmosphere and general vibe was brilliant, the food speaks for itself, plenty of it too, the evening was guided by Colson who was fantastic in seeing to all the party's needs, a great lad and a credit, we will be back again very soon!

Well worth a visit, the place is a bit of a maze though if you haven't been before. The outdoor seating area looks good, but we sat inside. Service is really good.

Visited for the first time this evening for dinner after hearing good things. Our meals arrived at the table, I had ordered the pulled pork which was stone cold & my partner had ordered a platter of which the meat selection was raw, gristle or cold. The waitress never bothered to check back on our meal and came to clear 2 full plates from our table as neither of us could eat our meal and yet again did not ask how our meal was. We went to the bar to pay our bill where a separate waitress handed us our bill and stated there was a tip on to which I asked her to take the tip off and kindly explained we had left all our food as it was cold and our waitress hadn’t bothered to check on our meals. She just said sorry and handed my partner the card machine. All in all feel like we have gone out for tea and been ripped off paying £60 for fresh air. Won’t be visiting Hickory’s again.

One of our favourite places to eat and tonight the management and staff showed such kindness when we ordered a meal for my daughter in law who should’ve been with us but who has been in hospital a while…after explaining why we were one down we ordered a takeaway for her and not only did they not charge us but they packed or well and wrote @ card for her Really touched, thank you

I was told how good the food was at the hickory smokehouse in Hutton Preston, so i took my family out to try it. It was even better than it was described. Their brisket and ribs were cooked to perfection, and the brisket was smoked for 16 hours, making it super tender with a lovely flavour with the spice rub. The tater tots were the perfect side also. The staff were great and although very busy were always ready when needed and really professional. I am already planning on going again, and although it's a fair drive for me, it's well worth it. 👌 😋💯✌️

Was my first time here, group of 10 all squeezed together, not the best situation. food was amazing, also the best barman I think I've ever met, was his name Sal? He wore a silver face mask at Halloween, such a nice guy. Waiter no good at all, other wait staff was pretty good, although I wouldn't return to this establishment I will definitely go back to another Hickory's. We was there for a 40th and 50th, might drop a note to greene King or who ever owns it.

This wasn’t somewhere I would have picked normally and boy would I have been missing out!! Food…fantastic, service…spot on! I was too busy tucking in to get a pic of mine, I got the beef brisket sub and it was fantastic. I’m pretty fussy with meat (always worried about fat and nasty bits) but this was perfect. My husband got the “go big or go home burger” he’s better than me (this once and once only) and actually remembered to take a pic, I had to have the obligatory taste test and oh my days was it good! Would I recommend…definitely. Will I be back…most certainly!
