Never any issues when I've visited. Only downside is the menu has gotten smaller, there was a variety of steaks you could choose from

I met a couple of friends at Hickory’s recently on a dark damp Tuesday night in November. I’d never been before and was pleasantly surprised. On face value I was expecting a Harvester type of experience complete with sticky menus and dirty tables but it was nothing like that. The food was good and the staff were attentive and polite I think I had a Salmon dish and it was very good. Definitive well worth a visit.

Headline would be the food is amazing, but the atmosphere itself and service was just lacking compared to other Hickory's. We were directed to the bar upon entering however the bar was just full of extremely rowdy, there was betting going on around some of the tables and the staff and security ust didn't say anything. Finally we were escorted to the table which was finally out the way of the noise though. After that we were asked frequently for drinks but when it came to wanting to order food, the service was so slow, I turned around a couple of times to see 4 staff members just stood chatting at the entrance. We got starters which were absolutely delicious. I had brisket tacos and my partner had the garlic pretzel bites, both of which were amazing! The new cheese dip with the pretzel was a great addition now. We then waited a considerable amount of time before the waiter came over and asked us what we were waiting for still, and we said mains, and then they came out. I had a full rack of ribs and onion rings and my partner had Mac and cheese being a vegetarian. Both an amazing as usual and I'd highly recommend these when coming here. My suggestion would be though, not during the football or in the bar.

A couple of my family members and i popped to hickory's in the afternoon and was seated by a lovely gentleman named Ryan, it was our first time visiting so we took our time picking and ordering our food and our server Nicky was very patient which was appreciated as it shows an understanding of the customers need for time when trying somewhere new, Ryan learning that this was our first time offered us a try of the brisket as the flavour profile was what this place is all about and we would be able to determine if this is the place for us going forward. Upon trying the brisket we knew this was the place for us, it was juicy, succulent and full of flavour. Ryan asked me how it was and on learning that i loved the flavour preceded to tell me all about how they have achieved this, he talked about the rub used and the links to the deep south of America specifically Texas which is the inspiration for the food, I bounced a few questions his way and he answered them all, he even mentioned that the barbecue/smoker that cooked the food is integrated into the building and that it costs 40,000 pounds each to get one of those for everyone of the hickory's chain and the building is essentially built around them. I ordered the single platter which costs £33 and is worth every penny, it is a full platter and few will finish it in one go, the flavour is out of this world! from the ribs to the sausage, brisket and all the way through to the spicy slaw i was left blown away by the taste, then to cap of a great afternoon lunch Ryan decided he wanted to make a good impression which is a very smart move with new customers and he offered me a gift, he gave me a hickory's rub and sauce set, 5 items in total 2 rubs and 3 sauces (one of which is called homicide sauce and is a hot sauce which i have to admit is intimidating) on the house because as he put it, "you were great customers with good questions and we really enjoyed having you here with us". Ryan and Nicky were great ambassadors for the hickory's chain and a wonderful reflection on the business overall. Thankyou hickory's for a lovely afternoon lunch and i will be sure to visit again soon.

I and a group of basketball players who met at the 2012 Olympics have a yearly reunion and this year we decided to hit Birmingham. There's a great atmosphere and friendly staff and we were so surprised they created a piece that was worth posting here. Thank you Hickory Smokehouse Birmingham! You're amazing

As chain restaurants go you can’t really complain, food is always top and the kids love it too.

Food was awesome and the service was great. We went in the day time so the atmosphere was not really something I could comment on as it was a quiet day. But would definitely go there again!

Georgia-rose served us today and the service was outstanding. She was friendly and went and above and beyond in terms of service and making us feel welcome and comfortable for our meal. We came out for a meal to celebrate my friend getting a new job. On top of the fact she was attentive she surprisingly and unprompted brought out a doughnut and sparkler for my friend which was really thoughtful. She is genuinely a credit to your team and should hear this.

Overall the quality of BBQ was good for being in England. Compared to authentic BBQ you would get in the states this is very lacking. Meat was dryer than what good BBQ would be and there isn’t the effects of slow smoke on the meat. Little smoke ring on the ribs and all the meats had hardly any smoke flavour. The cornbread is more like an unsweet toffee pudding. Frickles and Onion rings were good but their breading leans to the heavy size. Despite all of this the milkshake was phenomenal and the atmosphere is nice. For “British BBQ” this deserves a 4/5

Best smoke house dining experience. We were walkins and managed to get a table straight away. We asked to be moved after ten mins because it was cold near the door and the waiter moved us without any hesitation. The food came out promptly and of a fantastic standard. The food is on the pricier side however I dont mind paying when i get what I pay for. The staff attended to us enough to feel like they cared about our experience. You've definitely got regular custom from us now.

Really cool place, the food is really tasty and the portions are huge. The menu is a really cool newspaper, there are a lot of vegetarian and vegan dishes...Western style. Definitely a recommendation.

What can I say? The food here was absolutely superb, and I would highly recommend it. There is plenty to go at on the menu to suit all tastes and I ended up having the The Smokehouse Platter which included BBQ ribs, Memphis-style ribs, sausage, chicken wings, short rib, fries and slaw and this I recommend so you get a broad taste across the meats. The staff were very friendly and we were only waiting less than 20 minutes for the food to arrive at the table. No complaints whatsoever! ☆☆☆☆☆

Great place. Service was great james our host went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Food absolutely delicious my husband is a bbq fanatic and has his own smoker. He loved it. Definitely will be back again

Had the beef rib, onion rings and fries sunday at 8pm now it's 11.15pm and I'm being violently sick and so is my partner. Very annoying

We’ve booked here for a Friday night as we’ve been craving some good smokehouse food. Let me tell you this - there is not 1 bad thing I could say about this place. We’ve turned up just before 7pm after booking a table (which is a must as it was packed!). Got seated straight away, staff all super friendly and polite. THE VIBES HERE ARE ELITE. The decor really does make you feel like you’re in US. Menus were beautifully designed. We’ve also been blessed with live music. What else would you want? We’ve ordered the big platter for two which sets you off £60/2 people (so £30 each) which we’ve thought was more than reasonable as you’d probably spend about the same on individual meals. There wasn’t 1 thing we didn’t love on the platter. The meats were full of flavour and all tasted different. Cornbread was a 10/10. We’ve also tried their home-made rootbeer float and grape soda which was definitely a solid kick of sugar but amazing nonetheless and a great complement to the savoury meats. We can’t wait to go back.

Had brunch here today the food was so overcooked it really was not good the only reason we did not complain was the fact that the waitress was so really nice and we did not to make a fuss

Large group including 3 children. 2 meals had to go back due to being cold,1 meal was missed completely and even though we asked for all 3 orders to come together they all came separately and therefore part of our group had finished their meals before others had even arrived.

Nice large car park, nice atmosphere, lovely staff, loved the decor (including in the toliets!), delish food; perhaps the only thing I would say you couldn't help yourself to condiments... and not many vegetarian options... would definitely recommend a visit if you have never been...

This was my first time was impressed with the place

Upon arriving to the store the manager who is red headed and has glasses was very blunt and uninterested. We explained to her we had a booking and she was very dismissive. Sitting down didn't take long at all once that was resolved and the service we received was fantastic all of the waiters and waitresses were very prompt and had a smile on their faces, other than the manager. She looked absolutely miserable and when asking if we were done with our food she seemed to have given us a dirty look and once again didn't look interested and like she wants to be here. From working in customer service myself I understand it can be stressful but there is no need to make us feel unwelcome. She also berated staff and clearly made them feel small infront of us which just shows a lack of professionalism and that she shouldn't be in this industry overall the food and service was good but she has just left a bad taste in my friends and I mouths.

Very aesthetic, food is delicious, a little indoor cinema to entertain kids, heaters outside to keep warm, I really enjoyed my experience.

Went for our 25th anniversary. They looked after us, put aside a fab table which they decorated, they made a lovely fuss of us, and gave us a beautifully decorated board with complimentary cake and drinks. Georgia was so awesome and made or meal so special. That's even before talking about the epic food, service, and ambience. 10/10

I think the food is a little on the expensive side. The food is tasty but a lot of it. The staff I couldn’t fault, very polite, well informative, friendly and helpful.

Went with family for a birthday meal. Greeted upon arrival and directed to the bar area. Waited for 10 minutes without seeing a server. Spoke to initial greeter who eventually served our (very expensive) drinks. Once seated for meal our server was friendly and efficient. Our orders were taken & repeated back for clarification. Food was served in a timely fashion. Portions were ginormous! Unfortunately, an ordered medium-rare steak was over cooked, but was speedily whisked away and replaced with an alternative.

If you are into smoked BBQ this is a must-visit. We went for a family meal hoping to get some good tasting BBQ and we were not disappointed. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is fantastic and the theme of a Texan Smokehouse is captured beautifully. Add to that a cinema room which plays movies at all times and some fun drinks and you have a lovely place to visit with or without the family. The brisket was incredible: tender and juicy just as you would hope it should be. Popcorn on arrival is a nice touch and if you can’t decide they do a nice platter for two people to share. All in all I would recommend a visit if smoked BBQ is your thing.

Our hostess was really nice pity we were seated at a small table for 4 the food came out looked really nice Pity the food was Luke warm to cold my daughters pulled pork was cold nice place if you like overpriced cold food I asked if we could be seated at a booth or bigger table but was told it weren’t possible then saw an empty booth with 3 in it 🤦🏽‍♀️

First time at Hickory's greeted by happy friendly staff. Although we hadn't booked they still managed to find us a table. Food and service was excellent we do like the idea of the bottle of water to cleanse the palate during the meal instead of having to keep asking for water. During our meal the wife was talking to one of the waiting staff it was our 51st wedding anniversary to which all staff came to wish us well . Plus they gave us a gift we will always be grateful for and will always remember. THANK YOU .

The restaurant was very busy, therefore loud, and as a result the atmosphere score is down. The service was really friendly, but when we first arrived (17:00) it didn't seem like there was many staff. This improved by the time we left, and the service did also. Irrespective of that, the food was actually really good. Both of us are gluten-free and both our meals were delicious.

Had my birthday here yesterday. The food was awesome. The staff even better. Thank you for my surprise cake. But. Please do butter milk pancakes after 2pm

Amazing service from the team there Friday 23rd from 5.30pm -7pm By far the nicest most authentic American bbq we have had in the UK. Great size portions and all amazing quality. Was wife's birthday and they also made it special with her own birthday message board. Best family meal out we have ever had. And was a brilliant finish to 2 full days at Drayton Manor. If we had one in Wales we would visit more often.

Rated 5 star on service because of one of the staff, Courtney Wright, she was absolutely brilliant! Very professional service and sorted our orders out quickly, all of the staff are good but Courtney stood out from a mile away. Definitely would recommend as long as she works here, made our experience very good, it is nice to see there is people out there that care about customer service and go above and beyond, high ratings for this place !

Any wait is worth it. I had the smokehouse platter for 1 and my partner had the mac n cheese. Both were absolutely perfect with no faults and clearly made with love. To drink a couple of Pabst Blue Ribbons (always a favourite) and a couple of frozen Pina coladas, both hit the spot and excelled. The food is honestly something else, it's made with passion and love and that reflected in it's quality. Yes this comes at a cost but you pay for what you get and Hickory's does not ever disappoint on that front. The fro-co (frozen custard) is a house favourite and must have to finish everything off! The staff are a cut above anywhere else, always friendly, helpful and efficient. This place does food and service properly. They always have and they always aim to go above and beyond even at the busiest of times. After having booked this table and travelling about 60miles, the staff were aware that is was my birthday and Lilly (our server) went above and beyond any calls of duty, having noticed me drinking craft beer they brought me out a birthday board with Happy Birthday written in chocolate, a sugar ring doughnut topped with cream and 3 craft beers (blue moon, Brooklyn lager and a Stone Buenaveza - one I'm particularly excited to try). A huge thank you to Lilly, a clear asset Hickory's should look to keep hold of! I have always raved about Hickory's and have always had a desire and passion to bring them further down south! After all they are Southern! A huge thank you to Hickory's and a huge recommendation. Even if you just go the once they will 100% make it worth it!

Service and atmosphere here is always amazing! I'm giving only 3 stars though due to the food. The food is so overpriced for the quality. Its not terrible, don't get me wrong, it's OK food but it's nothing special for what is being charged. We've eaten here around 8-10 times over the 5 years we've lived in CB and it's not ever really improved so I don't think we will be coming back as it's just too expensive for what it is.

Date night! Live music. Good food and Great service. Very lucky to have this around the corner from us. Filled with many people celebrating, sparklers flying everywhere with staff singing Birthday songs. Live music or a very western/country playlist to give that real American vibe. Food: Ribs - partner had bbq and I had maple. Comes with fries and we ordered a side of Gravy/cheese tots (they had a name but I have forgotten). Food was delicious, only critique is the quality of the meat, Isn’t amazing enough to get 5 stars but it’s still great. Service, very good. We were seated straight away and wasn’t left waiting long. Definitely a great place for a date or family meal.

I think the staff could be more mindful about how long they are keeping their customers waiting. Once seated someone should be over to ask if we want any drinks - not wait 20 minutes for any acknowledgement. However this was rectified and we were offered a free drink and the food there is always tasty. The service just needs to be improved upon.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (If only I could give 6 stars!) I can’t say enough about this place! This was our second time dining here, and once again, it exceeded all our expectations. The food is absolutely incredible—every bite is a testament to the care and skill the kitchen puts into each dish. But what really makes this restaurant stand out is the staff. The Thea (Manager) and the Leah are genuinely some of the nicest people we met. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time, even going as far as feeding our dogs with some plain beef! It’s clear they truly care about their customers (and their pets). If you’re looking for a place with delicious food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is it. We’ll definitely be back for many more visits. Highly recommend!

I visited on the 04/08/24, I have never felt so uncomfortable due to your waiters, there attitude was terrible, the constantly looked at me and just kept laughing and it was completely putting me off, every time they walked past our table they would look out the corner of there eye and have a little giggle to them selves, it started to make me think they had done something to our food or drinks. Immature people like that don’t deserve to work at such a good and nice place.

Was an amazing trip. Its my 30th today and the service was amazing. I got to make my own Cocktail which was a great experience. I got a doughnut for my dessert too!! Dan was amazing throughout. We had kids and dogs with us. There was a movie for the kids and Brisket and water for the dogs. Service was amazing. Thank you all so much.

Attended a business meeting here last weekend. The staff ensured we had an quiet place to hold the meeting. After being seated, a waiter took our drinks order then the food order. This waiter took a very long time to come back to us each time. Especially after we had finished eating, it took almost 40mins to get the bill and to pay. Our original waiter was no where to be found . Food was okay. The vegan fajitas were interesting and tasted good.

Hickory’s Steakhouse is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm, friendly service that set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The drinks menu is phenomenal – their shakes are expertly made, and the selection of wines and beers is impressive. Each drink was perfectly balanced and delicious. The food, however, truly stole the show. The steaks are cooked to perfection, with a rich, smoky flavor that could only come from a master grill. Every bite was tender and juicy, melting in my mouth. The sides and starters were equally delightful, offering a variety of flavours that complemented the main dishes wonderfully. Hickory’s Steakhouse has quickly become my go-to spot for a great day out. If you love amazing food and drinks in a cozy, inviting atmosphere, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!

Ive been coming to Hickory’s since day one. Even through Covid I was a frequent customer of Hickory’s at home. I love the place! Last week myself and a colleague from overseas went for lunch. Our server was Daniel. From the get go Daniel was attentive from asking us if we had been here before. I had but my colleague hadnt. He explained how Hickory’s works and also a brief summary of the business, which was brilliant for my colleague. Both myself and my colleague are big fans of meat and more importantly the art of smoking and braaing meat ( BBq). Dan was really interested in what we had to say. We had some questions around what the Sodas were like and Daniel arranged for a sample of each for us to try, along with a sample of brisket. Amazing customer service! It didnt end there… after submitting our orders, Daniel came back and said he has a treat for us. Jaco the Pitmaster was on site and wanted to meet us! We went into the back and not only met the famous Pitmaster himself but got to see the smokers, which are massive! Jaco also spoke at length about what he and the team do as well as give us both some top tips on smoking Brisket. Our meal came and so we went back to the table. The food was amazing, as expected. Daniel really made us not only welcome, but made the whole visit an experience and memory we shall not forget! Special thanks to both Daniel and Jaco for their time. I cannot wait to come back!

Food was delicious, atmosphere amazing and our waiter Daniel was so lovely and caring. Made our anniversary that bit better having such a lovely waiter who brought us a surprise anniversary platter with donuts and whipped cream.

All staff last Sunday are a credit to Hickory's Castle Bromwich. There was an extremely selfish woman blocking the main route to the bar area during a very busy Euro's game. She was making everyone just trying to do their jobs push past her with large trays full of drinks. How staff kept their nerve I'll never know. Most customers don't behave like this, she should have been made to sit down out of the way or asked to leave. You all did really well to tolerate her but you shouldn't have had to.

This is one of the best places to eat I have ever been to. I had planned a weekend birthday getaway for my mother and her sister, but plans fell through, and we had car troubles. I found this place on google Maps by chance and made a reservation 30 minutes in advance with a note that it was a birthday lunch. We came in and instantly got greeted to a specially reserved table with a cute birthday sign and fresh popcorn. The food was... AMAZING. I had the smoked brisket sub, with fried, coleslaw, and gravy, and it was DIVINE. Melt in your mouth delicious. My mum had a chicken salad (which she said was the best salad she's ever had), and my aunt had chicken and waffles, which she also really liked. The lemonade was really good and punchy. In the end, they came up with some free desserts and drinks and sparklers! The ambience was great - really southern decor and a little seating area with some movies showing! I think this was the best dining experience I've ever had. It might be a bit on the pricier side, but well worth it for the quality.

Friendly staff, lively atmosphere, delicious food and a variety of drinks with prompt table service. Both me and my dad thoroughly enjoyed the experience, will definitely have to return to try more menu items.
