Fantastic service was capped off by great food. Real personal feel to the service, keeping the conversation flowing and making sure guests were always happy. Couldn’t name a single negative with our experience.

So we visited for the Mexican night for my birthday. Fantastic food from start to finish. Excellent homemade dips, guacamole, garlic, salsa, sour cream and jalapeños all with nachos. Then followed by chilli tacos and pork koftas. Getting full by now lol. Then mains of pulled pork enchiladas and chicken fajitas with black bean rice. Dessert was margarita cheesecake mousse. Well and truly stuffed now.

Very dull and uninspiring dining area - also staff at 2pm called it dinner when it is lunch… Will not return although food was excellent…

Won’t find a better Sunday dinner around this area for the money - mid week menu is also on point . You won’t be disappointed

My stay at the Hickman Hill Hotel has been absolutely delightful. The room is fantastic, with every detail meticulously thought out to ensure comfort and luxury. The bed is incredibly comfy, providing the perfect night's sleep. The staff have been super helpful, going above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. I couldn't ask for a better experience. Just come home after an amazing evening here. The food is outstanding and good value for money. The hosts are lovely and I am looking forward to seeing them again soon. This is so so much more than a hotel. We live in Gainsborough and we will be making this a regular event. Our only surprise is that it isn't packed out, but then if it was we wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. Also must mention the gardens. It is obvious that an enormous amount of time and love has been spent to give somewhere peaceful to while away the afternoon. Without a doubt the best place to eat in Gainsborough

We went for the Greek meal evening. The food was lovely. The waiter and waitresses were efficient and pleasant. A very good evening was had. We're looking forward to the Mexican evening next.

Very quiet and cosy hotel in Gainsborough. Didn't eat there, as was visiting relatives, but it's got a good reputation in the town. Book if staying, and note the restaurant closes an Sunday evening but the hotel is still open.

Lovely restful place to stay, close to the centre of Gainsborough. Definitely would make a return visit.

We recently attended an 80’s Themed party at this establishment and aside from the DJ and music, it was hugely underwhelming. For the price of the tickets, you were given a one-course buffet which can only really be described as “greasy slop”. Not least, this was served to the paying customers from the toilet entrance - gross. There were no themed decorations anywhere and aside from one or two people in actual fancy dress, you’d have never known it was and 80’s themed party. The food system was chaotic and confusing with no clear process for being fed, and upon pointing this out to “ the owner” she was exceptionally rude saying “if you don’t like it you can leave”. Some training in customer service is clearly needed here. Massively overpriced for what you actually got in terms of an experience and especially the food with many patrons mentioning the “fishy smelling pasta” confused with Mac & Cheese. No food labels or menu so you had no idea what you were getting on your plate. Might be OK if you’re after cheap and cheerful for a place to stay but if you want quality and experience, best to avoid. For the price of a ticket, you can easily get two good courses in a decent quality restaurant and have good table service.

We went to sample the new menu and was not disappointed, the food was amazing all fresh and piping hot as it arrived at our table, we will definitely return.

We recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The room which we stayed in was a very good size with a separate bathroom, bath and walk in shower. The food is incredible and priced right. The staff in this hotel are amazing and very helpful and go the extra mile without question. One member of staff that stands out is a lady called Phillipa, outstanding and so helpful. The hotel has a wonderful garden where you can sit with a book or a glass.....or both. I seriously can't recommend this wonderful hotel enough....simply the best

Tremendous good pub grub taken to another level - never had a bad meal @ the Hickman hill! Visited on various occasions, even with high expectations the food never disappoints.

The food and service was spot on as always! We had just got back from being away and thought there’s no better place to go for a home cooked meal than the Hickman.

Today we had a family meal the food was amazing all freshly cooked, the sun was out and it was lovely to sit in the gardens and have a drink, we were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble.

Visited for Sunday Lunch, the food was the best I have eaten every part of my dinner was tasty and fresh and the meat just melted in my mouth. Just been to the Hickman for tea and tried there new bar menu. I had a jacket potato and my partner had a homemade pork, Stilton and crispy bacon burger. Great food, nice atmosphere, good value for money and we loved the open fire :)

My partner & I stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting the Gainsborough Model Railway Society. Wonderful clean room, & great breakfast. An old grammar school. Highly recommended and reasonably priced. Easy walking distance from town centre, river and shops.

I stayed here for 3 days, whilst working in the area. The couple that own Hickman Hill are so accommodating, attentive, First night, I had the Slow braised lamb shoulder. Well presented, wrapped in parma ham, with a rosemary flavoured mash and an insane tasting gravy, OMG it was unbelievable. Night 2, I tried the seared mackerel on roast vine tomatoes. check the photo's, amazing!! Night 3, I Bruschetta topped with garlic chicken, guacamole, Parmesan shavings and sweet chilli. once again, just check the photo's. I've tried loads of restaurants in this area, but nothing comes close to this, what a top class restaurant this is. Well done to a most amazing chef !! Can't wait for my next visit !!!

Dinner was superb. We were a party of four on an overnight stay. We booked a table based on previous reviews- and we were not disappointed! It actually exceeded our expectations. The quality of food produced by the owner is outstanding. We would definitely book again.

We had dinner here with some friends, and could not fault the service or the food at all. We all had the set menu, and it was delicious! Everything was cooked fresh, and was such value for money. The service was impeccable, and they are so friendly. I would really like to go back for Sunday lunch!
