Herb is possibly the most beautiful restaurant I have visited. From the ornate gilt mirrors to the colourful floor tiles, the decor is overwhelming. The food is excellent, the staff are helpful and friendly, and we loved it. Definitely recommend it

From the moment we arrived, the staff’s warm and attentive service made us feel right at home. Special thank you to Adarsh, our waiter. The tofu was perfectly cooked, and the slim thali offered a delightful variety of rich, vibrant flavors. The unexpected star, however, was the banana roast—a unique dish that was nothing short of spectacular. Herb has mastered the art of combining taste with creativity, and we’ll definitely be back!

My favourite place to eat! Great food, service and atmosphere. Love the business lunches- wonderful value. The main menu is also fabulous of course. I really like and appreciate the attitude and service of the staff. So friendly and kind.

Beautiful place with outstanding food, Leicester must try!

We are pure vegetarians and we booked a table for 5, on a Sunday the food was below average, the soup we had for a starter was like a lentil dhal, every dish was below average we spent over £150 and we definitely won't be going there again, we thought we'd try it as the reviews were good, definitely not, and more expensive than others, we always go sharmille on belgrave road or chai Pani there food is always good and fairly priced, we are Indian and definitely know our food and we expect high standards at this price, lesson learned, disappointing.

Reasonable food is slightly more expensive compared to equivalent South Indian restaurants. Masala Dosa was good. I had to request more Sambhar. The quantity of Sambhar given could be better.

We love the dosas at Herb! They are always crispy, tasty, freshly made and delicious! The rasam and chutnies are also lovely, as are the staff and ambience! Definitely recommended if you want to have vegetarian Indian food in Leicester city centre! Be sure to try Onion Rava Masala Dosa!

This restaurant is an absolute must for anyone visiting Leicester. It is as near to perfection as I could imagine. Completely gluten free and veggie with tastes that are sublime. And my ‘business lunch’ - see photo - for £5.95, incredible.

Fantastic restaurant. Had idil and vada for starters shared between 4, followed by 2 eating thali and 2 eating dosa. Portion sizes were great; good bang for buck and beautiful flavours. Decor was lovely. The waiters were attentive and refilled water as needed. Thank you to the staff as I ordered a tea which I didn't realise included dairy, after telling the staff they brought me a peppermint tea without me asking which I was delighted to receive. They also kindly took the price of the tea of the bill. Throughly recommend!

We discovered this place accidently but wow, I'm so pleased we decided to eat at Herb! All of the food is vegetarian (with lots of vegan/gluten free options) and tastes absolutely incredible. George, our waiter, was very attentive, friendly, and helped with any questions we had about the menu. Thanks so much, George and team! Worth mentioning that the atmosphere of this restaurant is very relaxing and inviting- we're planning to come back soon!

Absolutely beautiful atmosphere to eat in but sadly the food was quite bland and lacked flavour.

We made a reservation ahead of time. Just as well, as it gets really busy over lunchtime. We ordered the Thali platters. It comes with dosa and chutney and 5 different curries and potato. They were not too spicy but full of flavor. Our waiter took our order promptly and the food arrived in good time. We really enjoyed our meal and can really recommend this restaurant!

I wanted to share some feedback regarding our recent dining experience. Unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. We ordered two different dosas—Pav Bhaji and Masala Dosa—but both had the same filling and tasted identical, despite being listed under different names. Additionally, the portion sizes were quite small. We also noticed that the service seemed inconsistent, with attention given based on guests' appearances rather than evenly across all diners. We hope this feedback is helpful and will be considered for future improvements

They provide separate menu of without onion and garlic, required for vaishnav / Swaminarayan followers.

Had a absolutely delicious meal, vegan options were amazing! Service was excellent by all staff. In particular, thank you to Adarsh who was super helpful with helping us choose what to order and was very friendly. Wow - what an experience. We’ve never had South Indian cuisine before and I’m SO glad we tried it today. Absolutely amazing. I’m vegan and we had a delicious, fresh, tasty and wholesome meal. We had the tofu and the “doughnut” dish for starters with their accompanying sauces and they were so flavoursome, rich in colour, texture and taste and so nourishing. We then were recommend the Large Thali by our waiter Adarsh - this is a dish with eight dishes and the sweet dessert and my God, what a delight. The tastes varied from dish to dish with each curry possessing a unique and distinct flavour. The food is fresh, wholesome, tasty, clean and delicious. Amazing. Our waiter Adarsh was so friendly and polite and we had some lovely conversation with him. Adarsh is one of those people who ooze customer service and he delivered a great experience. Another cherry on the cake was the magic experience courtesy of MagicAmit - this was the piece de la resistance. Wow. We were blown away by his magic tricks and he left us scratching our heads. What a great touch! Amazing venue, fantastic food, super staff, masterful magic and great vibes. If you’re vegetarian or vegan - you HAVE to come here. You won’t regret it. 10/10.

Herb has been visited many, many times now by me - the first time I had Thali, which had an excellent soup starter and a wonderful dessert and some decent curries. On a second visit, I went for main dishes of aubergine and papaya stew, which were of a very high quality, as were the breads. Good friendly service in a very clean restaurant. I hope you enjoy this place if you go. Lunchtime the thali is exceptional value and very high quality. The restaurant is renowned for the dosa - rise based flat breads. Many times, these have appeared on television in the UK. Service is to a very high and friendly standard. Awards have been won with good reason. A fantastic range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, many of which are complimentary to the food. It is one of the best vegan and vegetarian restaurants. Great decor. Spotlessly clean. Booking advisable at weekends and busy times. Thanks very much.

Cool interior with a very relaxed atmosphere. Ironically, North Indian chaat appetizers were better than our South Indian entrées. Dosas were alright but chutneys and sambar were lacking seasoning (salt) and flavor. Did not care for my jackfruit dish as if had a stringy taste and unremarkable flavor. Men's bathroom needed some deodorizing.

Visited Herb several times now and will always return if i’m in the area. Travelled around an hour from Nottingham to come here that’s how good the food is! Staff are lovely and helpful, and the restaurant interior is beautifully decorated and well kept. As for the food, Herb is one of my favourite restaurants and could not recommend highly enough! The portion sizes are great too and will keep you full for ages ☺️

Excellent, whether you're a vegetarian or omnivore. Delicious vegetarian food that embraces an array of textures and cooking methods, I was quite impressed. We went for Mum's birthday and she loved it. The servers were friendly and attentive, with a good sense of humour as well. This is not only the best vegetarian restaurant in Leicester but one of the best I have been to anywhere, including abroad. Thanks again to the whole team for making it a special visit.

Delicious food but totally wrong order.

We booked in advance without noticing that the restaurant was 100% vegetarian so entered initially with slight apprehension. The staff were absolutely amazing from the moment we walked through the door and the restaurant itself had an amazing feel to it and it wasn’t long before the apprehension subsided. The food arrived soon after ordering and if there had been any reservations they would have been quickly quashed with the standard of food. I have always been under the impression that a meal is not complete without meat and I can honestly say in all of the years of eating Indian food this was by far the best I have ever eaten. I would strongly suggest the Thali which is in the pre theatre menu, every element offered an amazing sensation on the tastebuds even with the absence of meat. There is a cocktail bar attached owned by the restaurant and that too had fantastic decor and matched the experience provided by the restaurant. The big question is will I return ?? Yes but not before I go to their other restaurant which is on the opposite side of the road, serves meat and has won a national curry award with similar menu but with added meat 😍

Really tasty food, good atmosphere and great service.

Beautiful food, we all had the Thali and it was delicious. A selection of 9 sauces plus breads and puddings, available gluten free by swapping out for a very tasty bread, we would come again without a doubt!

Just wonderful! Many people had recommended it to us, but we didn't expect it to excite us so much! Vegetarian Indian restaurant, with a wide variety of dishes, which I think everyone can enjoy, since it wasn't particularly hot. The fact that all the dishes are vegetarian, got me out of the difficult situation of looking to see what I can or can't eat, as I usually do in most restaurants. Big portions with very good prices. The biriyani served in banana leaves and the paneer are worth trying.

Delicious food with authenticity

Always a fantastic meal here, having eaten several times now at lunch and dinner. Smooth, efficient service, great decor and atmosphere, and brilliant menu choices. Food is freshly prepared and full of flavour. All vegetarian, and many vegan options. Plus there's now the vegan cocktail bar next door for snacks and drinks. Highly recommended.

Lovely clean restaurant and a wonderful frieze on the wall depicting Christ and the disciples at the last supper. Marvellous on every level. Update: still great on 19.08.22. Update 03.02.22: went again. Still excellent!

Special as it get....special thali was well presented. The soup for the starters got the taste buds tingling. Then comes the utterly nuts thali....wow. I don't know how I finished it all. Excellent. Authentic flavours and just right with the spice levels. Pictures say it all.

I've rarely had such good Indian food. Though I was only in town for a week, I made a point to come here at least twice that week. Each of the curries tasted freshly made and were full of flavor without being overpowering.

Traditional South Indian Pure Vegetarian Restaurant. Serving the best tasty idli, dosa, Utapam and thali. Very reasonable in price to dine out. Lots of choices on the menu. Great atmosphere with attentive service. Lunch time menu is so cheap to dine in for a thali.

Herb is a magnificent gem in the Leicester culinary crown. The green papaya stew, accompanied by kallappam, was masterfully prepared. The temperature of the cooked food was hot (not lukewarm); the salad was very fresh and cold. Presentation was impeccable. Service was faultless. The music was a little louder than preferred (hence, the four, instead of five, star Atmosphere rating). We did not order desert but we did order coffee. True to form, it was superb and beautifully presented. I highly recommend Herb.

Truly an excellent vegetarian restaurant, service was attentive but not intrusive and the food was amazing. The single largest dosa I have ever seen or eaten. Truly a gem of the Leicester food scene. Visit them or their sister restaurant Kayal, just across the road.

Without a doubt the best veggie Indian restaurant (and one of the best veggie or not) I have ever been to.

Beautiful ambience and decor. Taste wise it's disappointed as food is mostly bland and doesn't suit my pallet. Would have got the value for their steep prices, had the server checked with me for the spice level.

Third time here. Food is great. Staff is incredibly friendly. Atmosphere is very good. I tried a few dishes here. All were good but spinach dosa and briyani are awesome. You don't have to be vegetarian to enjoy these dishes.

We visited Herb at lunch and had the Business Thali. This is not on the menu so you just need to ask for it. The food was absolutely delicious and very tasty. The venue is gorgeous and the staff were very friendly. A must have if you love Indian food and for £5.95 it’s an absolute bargain. Would highly recommend.

Wow. What a wonderful, authentic restaurant. The staff were so lovely and the food was excellent. We would highly recommend the Koonu curry and the papaya stew. We came for my husband’s birthday dinner as it is the first time visiting Leicester and we were not disappointed. Well done all at Herb Leicester. Amazing place to eat.
