Great wee place, really friendly staff. Dogs are welcome and the treat jar was brought round to all the four legged customers. We didn't have a meal but the hot food looked and smelled really good. We did have a white chocolate scone each which were yummy, and a couple of delicious lattes .. nice and hot and very tasty.

Disgusting microwaved food, Overpriced for something that’s sitting for hours and then microwaved. The 3 meals we ordered was totally inedible.

When we arrived we were the only people at the counter and the restaurant was empty. It was as if we were interrupting the staff and it was bothersome to take an order. We ordered 5 meals: the Baked Potato arrived with cheese and beans that had been microwaved, the BarBQ Chicken Burgers were dry and not dressed, the Chicken Goujon burger had 2 small pieces of chicken and the soup and sandwich were ok. The Garlic Fries were more oily than garlic butter. The restaurant itself was cold and dreary, could do with a face lift and more lights.

My family visited the cafe twice this week and can highly recommend. The first day we had scones and on the second visit had turkey dinner and lasagne and chips. There’s a great selection of food to choose from whether you just want something light or something more filling. It’s great value and quality food and the staff were very friendly.

In the same family for more than 50 years, Heralds at 22 thoroughly merits its ongoing popularity. From early breakfast and throughout each day, its delicious fare is freshly cooked and attractively presented in generous portions. Paula and her team are welcoming, and consistent in providing exceptional service.

Never heard of this place until my nana brought me the other day & I was so pleasantly surprised! The food was so fresh and tasty. I got a cheese & bacon burger which was so good for a great price! For soup, sandwiches, a burger, traybake, coffee and tea it all cost around £13! The service was also great as well- the ladies were so friendly and helpful! Would definitely recommend and will be returning when I'm up this way again!

Visited heralds 22 today with my nan who told me about this cafe. We were having a debate on where to eat. She defiantly made the right choice by picking here. Food was lovely. Nan loved her homemade stew. The hazelnut latte was lovely too. The staff are very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Exceptional service. Would defiantly recommend anyone who’s thinking about trying it to defiantly try. Didn’t try any cakes this time but they all looked lush.

This place has been a favourite of ours in the past but not now. The place was clean and the staff were pleasant put the food seems to be on a downward spiral. The chicken we got was dry and tasteless and the chips seemed to be cooked in some unpleasant smelling oil with a partly mixed instant gravy, can't see me returning.

We called in here for a cup of coffee and something for a snack instead of a lunch. To our delight, they offered a deal after 2pm which allowed us to select a scone or traybake with tea/coffee for £2.50. For an extra 50p we could have a mug or a speciality coffee.

I am a frequent visitor to Heralds at 22, because my voluntary work in Coleraine has me close by regularly. The staff are so friendly, and the food is excellent. It is nicer than the average, being nice in atmosphere and the staff having time to be cheerful and pleasant. It is family friendly, and not high priced; and is located right in the pedestrianized area of Coleraine town centre.

Popped in for breakfast this week after being told it was pretty good.Maybe I went in at the wrong time, but I was very disappointed. I ordered a simple sausage and egg soda and a tea. Whilst the tea was good, the food was pretty bad. The sausage was deep fried (why can't anybody cook a sausage anymore!), the egg was very greasy and looked like it had been fried in dirty oil. The quality of the soda wasn't too bad, but the worst crime of all was being served on an ice cold plate. This made my simple breakfast also ice cold in a matter of seconds.I'm sure this place can do much better than this, but you're only as good as your last plate of food.Sorry.

I got the chicken curry half and half,it was average but what topped it off was the serious lack of chicken. The portions are small and for what you are getting its seriously over priced. My partner enjoyed the toastie which she ordered although she didn't enjoy the hair that came along with the garnish on the plate. Also my daughter had to use the toilet, which aren't clean and there was no toilet seat.

I popped into this cafe for a quick lunch prior to some Christmas shopping. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The cafe itself was clean and warm (much needed!). There was a good selection of sandwiches, scones and sausage rolls (a few other hot items too). I had a sweet chilli chicken and cheese pannini which was quite nice, with a bottle of Coke and traybake for dessert which came to around £8, maybe a little on the expensive side. I'm not sure yet if I would go back - I ended up here because the place I wanted to go to was full.

Staff barely spoke-waitress didn't offer a welcome and didn't ask what we would like. She was speaking to another member of staff and when finished she leaned over the counter with her pad and just stared at us. We ordered and my husband and son went to use the loo (2 floors up and quite far away). I ordered drinks and went to pay another member of staff who didn't tell me how much it was (£15 for two meals, milk, a coke and a fruit shoot) I handed her my debit card and put my PIN in and got the receipt all without a single word! The food was sent down shortly after and looked quite nice. Upon tasting it we realised it had been microwaved. No problem with the lasagne and quiche but the garlic potatoes were soggy, chewy and generally fairly unpleasant. The whole meal was tasteless and just not great. The place itself isn't too nice, the decor is tired and just very dated. There were maybe 10-12 staff members milling about and at least 3 or 4 sitting at booths eating or chatting. None were pleasant and all seemed totally inconvenienced that customers dared be in their cafe. All in all a horrible experience. Go elsewhere! A lot can be forgiven but bad customer service is inexcusable.

Mum and I came here for a little something to eat and drink. What a big disappointment. The choice of traybakes, scones, etc was extremely poor and also other food looked really hardened up as if it had been sitting about for hours. The wheaten bread was wrapped in clingfilm and even it was as hard as anything. We ordered a coffee and a soft drink and after paying we commented that on the board outside it mentioned that they did an 'afternoon delight for £1.99. It did not explain what this was. We asked a staff member and she told us that it was tea / coffee with either a traybake, scone or doughnut. We said that we hadn't known what it was and that we had got the coffee and we would add the extra to make it up to the £1.99. (The extra would have been 49p). The staff was extremely rude and stated clearly that no way could she take the extra and that she would be charging the full price for the scone/traybake. We also found that any of the staff kept giving us dirty looks. WE DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE BACK THERE AGAIN, AND IF ANYONE ASKED US, WE CERTAINLY WOULD BE TELLING THEM THAT WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT.

After a morning shopping, hubby and I wanted to find someplace for a cuppa tea and a scone. We decided on Heralds at 22 as it looked like a nice traditional cafe. I had an orange and white chocolate scone and hubby had a fruit scone. We both had regular tea. At less than a fiver, I thought the price was quite reasonable (you'd be lucky to get just 2 scones for that price in Belfast!). My scone, despite not having much in the way of white chocolate, was really yummy. I am not sure I would eat a meal here - the lunch options were pre-prepared and in heated containers, buffet style (but dished up by staff) and looked a bit on the plain side. We saw many older people there enjoying a turkey dinner, the special of the day.Staff were friendly and, except for the fact that the decor was a bit dated, the restaurant was clean.

Took my wife and 3yr old son there for lunch on 16/09/13 and food was terrible. My microwaved lunch arrived 10 mins after the rest of the microwaved food and they forgot the side order. £18.20 for a terrible lunch. Wife's portion of stew was like a kids meal and my burger not much better, side order of garlic fries consisted of about 12 brick like fries and when I say brick like I don't mean size, I mean as hard as. My son at 3yrs even complained that the potatoes were terrible. If they want to charge these prices, I would recommend they up they're standards and portions aswell as ideas of a good meal. I don't mind paying good money for good food but this was atrocious. Don't eat here.

This has got to be the worst cafe experience I have ever had. On entering and sitting down I had to ask later if I could place an order as I was ignored up to that. On ordering I was told I had to pay in advance. From this it took 35 minutes before I got fed up and asked how much longer, the waitress who just looked like she was waiting for someone to complain so she could light on them, went down the back and rusted for everyone to hear "how much longer for table 3." I had to wait a further 10 minutes before the food arrived. 45 mins from order to eating, this was horrendous. The food itself was ok but the service was diabolical. Anyone with a few hours to waste go ahead other n that stay well clear. Never, ever again.
