Mi marido y yo vinimos a tomar unas copas y mi vino tinto estaba sabroso. A mi marido le gustaba la cerveza local. Ojalá este pub tuviera música. Bonito bar tierno.

Mi esposa y yo tuvimos nuestra primera comida en Halifax aquí (estaba a la vuelta de la esquina de nuestro Air bnb) y fue genial. Buena selección de cervezas locales en el grifo y muy buena comida pub británica. Nuestro servidor también era muy agradable. El espacio es un niño de antaño, anticuado, pero creo que ese es el punto... realmente estaba retrocediendo en el tiempo. Comería aquí de nuevo.

Bonita ubicación con asientos interiores y exteriores de temporada. El segundo nivel del edificio es más relajado y tranquilo. Gran servicio y buenos cócteles. La comida muy buena. Prueba la hamburguesa de cordero.

Una de las mejores comidas que tuve en Halifax! En mi mesa probé el Pan Fried Haddock con la ensalada de remolacha, así como el Pollo y el Pastel de Puerro. Ambos fueron sobresalientes. De postre disfrutamos y recomendamos la Creme Brulee y la Gingerbread Cake.

We were very happy with our visit to the Henry house. The atmosphere, service,drinks and food were all excellent. Highly recommended this little piece of Great Britain inNova Sctia.

We had a family group of 8 for supper in the lower level pub. We had reserved a table and were glad to be seated and start on cold beer as we all gathered. It was a bit warm in the basement, but it was warm in Halifax so not a surprise. The rest of our family were very familiar with the menu and the daily special salmon burger was a popular choice as was the cornish pastie. veggie burger, and fish and chips. Service was friendly and professional , beers were cold and lots of variety. Definitely recommend.

We stopped in Halifax with our cruise ship. Checked trip advisor for a place for fish and chips within walking distance of the docking place. Henry House ended up being a wonderful find. Beautiful historic building. We sat downstairs in the 'pub' area, and the breeze through the open window was great on that hot day. Our server was delightful, suggesting a sampler of local beers and ciders. Liked them so much we ordered the same thing again. :) Our family of four tried the fish and chips, shepherd's pie and fried chicken sandwich. The portions are large and everything was delicious. Highly recommend!

Delicious food, nice beer, great atmosphere, good service, spotlessly clean, very busy, the latter obviously a good sign. Well worth a visit when in Halifax NS.

I was meeting my cousin for the first time in many years and he selected this British Pub. Food was excellent, with one of the best chowders I have had for a long time. All the typical pub fare you would expect including a range of pies, curry and a very good special - Lamb Shank. Good beer menu and a decent bar/games room downstairs.

We had dinner here on August 27, 2023, with friends. We were greeted and promptly seated in the downstairs area. I was quite warm and stuffy, so we asked to move to an outside table without hesitation. Our server was friendly and prompt. Erik had the pan friend haddock and Cheryl had the beetroot salad along with a couple of drinks. The food arrived in a reasonable time and was well presented. Everything was good and enjoyable. We would eat here again.

I came here on the recommendation of my uncle, who has been living out east for a few years now. It was my first real pub experience and it was enjoyable. I had a keiths and a chicken wrap. This was a delightful pub located about 3-4 blocks from the harbor and the cruise ships so it was a bit quieter. There was dining on the main floor and downstairs in the pub - same menu in both. We ate in the pub. It all felt very British. Our food was great - steak and mushroom pie for me and a cornish pasty for my husband. We knew it was made from scratch as the server made sure we were ok with waiting 20 minutes for them to be baked. We also had pumpkin ale from a local brewery which was just perfect for a fall rainy day.

This is a great warm friendly bar and restaurant with excellent food. Fish chowder is the best I have ever had and the Steak and mushroom pie. Staff welcoming!

Excellent place to eat and drink. The staff were very friendly, engaging in conversation about the food, beer and history of the premises. The staff take a lot of pride in their jobs and ensuring your totally satisfied. We visited on consecutive nights, both times the food was very good and hot. So many places serve luke warm food on cold plates, we can’t abide eating food that should be warm when it’s cold. Thankfully every meal we had was piping hot. The beer was equally impressive, that was cold as it should be 🤣

Wonderful British pub experience--great beer and cider on tap and delicious, classic fish and chips. By far and away the most amazing were the desserts (a toffee and an apple crisp both times we went) and the cocktails! I've never had a smoked Manhattan served with such style and knock-your-socks-off smokey taste. Went back a second night just to get it again! Thank you to the great staff.

In the downtown Halifax area, this restaurant has a great decor and atmosphere for a pub. Service is very good. My wife and I had the fish and chips, a veggie burger, and a salad with pears and kale. Very good food. Would definitely go back. Make a reservation, though!

Have patronized HH for decades though Covid curtailed visits. Friday evening brought us to Barrington Street again. Restaurant was about 3/4 ths full. We ordered some of our old reliables, fish, burgers. We were disappointed. Quality has indeed suffered. However, most disappointing was the state of the restaurant, as we discussed later. HH needs a thorough cleaning. Never have seen the restaurant in this state. The interior is showing neglect, becoming drab, needs a vigorous scouring.

We've been to Halifax twice now and this place not only has the BEST food they have the best Seafood Chowder we could find in 2 weeks in Nova Scotia! The house is very interesting as well!

We spent a day in Halifax while cruising. Ate lunch at Henry House and the food was amazing! Our waitress, Chantal, was very attentive and didn't hesitate when we asked her for food and drink recommendations. We ordered what she recommended and all four of us enjoyed each of our meals. The restaurant itself has dining upstairs, patio dining, and pub dining in the lower level. Since it was hot, we chose to eat in the pub dining area since it was cool. Highly recommend!

The Henry House never disappoints. The food is delicious every time; well prepared and presented. Nice atmosphere as well! Would definitely recommend.

If the establishment has shepherds pie on the menu it's got me. A tasty portion cooked just right. That combined with a local craft beer makes for a good meal. The Henry House seems to have been a cozy dining option in Halifax for my whole adult life. It remains is a wonderful restaurant to visit during those cold wintry nights. Food leans to the heavy, traditional side, but I recently discovered they do make stand out lighter fare and salads. Cozy dining on 3 levels and great cocktails. Glad this establishment has stood the test of time.

Spent the first night of my recent trip to Halifax unwinding with friends in this charming basement pub. Sitting close to the fire, sipping on a local craft brew while sampling amazing food was the best way to reflect and anticipate the other treasures this city has to share.

Visited tonight 27th December with family who are visiting. My sisters Chicken and Leek pie was cold in the middle. They took it back to warm up, whilst we all ate and gave her the fries to eat whilst they warmed it up. They then brought it back out when we had all finished and she had finished her fries....we should have not had to pay for this! Also the menu says potatoes, she got fries, we questioned this and was told it's always fries, even though we then re-checked the menu! Also the potato on my bangers and mash was dry and bitty. As a Brit, I would not recommend this place or take any future guest there!

Ate here twice in two days, which tells its own story. Friendly, fast service with good pub grub, tasty and filling. Try the sausage and mash (very much with a British flavour) or the chicken and leek pie. Atmosphere is very relaxed with a welcome fire on a freezing mid-December day. Next time we're in the area looking for relatively cheap eats in a good setting, we'll be back in the Henry House.

We had dinner before a hockey game and we will definitely return. The service was prompt and friendly and our meals were very good. It was a Friday night an we only had an hour to get in and our. We were a bit worried about being late but the service was terrific and the food was delivered quickly. The mushroom swiss burger was excellent and the fish cakes were great. We enjoyed a Garrison with our meals. We will absolutely recommend the Henry House to others, we enjoyed our meals and the ambiance.

Warm and friendly on a cold, Halifax night. We went to the basement and I had the best beef dip sandwich of my life. The fire warmed me from the outside as the drinks warmed from the inside. Highly recommend!

We ate at Henry House twice on our recent trip to Nova Scotia. The first night was just a delicious Ruben Sandwich and the second time was chicken and leek pie and fish and chips. Went here for dinner due to a locals recommendation. Waiter was short with us and not pleasant. Took 30 minutes to get the onion soup-which was $14 each!! It’s was good but not worth the wait or price. People came in after us and were served their meal before ours came out. Waiter was jovial with a table that came in-he apparently knew them. This is a charming pub with old world ambiance, and a great menu. We had the pear, and beet root salads, the Salmon club, the chicken club wrap, and the pan fried haddock. The latter was so good, we returned to have salads and haddock again The stout chocolate cake, made with one of their craft beers, was also memorable. Our server was helpful, efficient, attentive, and charming. He also assisted us with some suggestions on places to see. Highly recommend.

The Henry House is an interesting old landmark building with great food, fantastic service, and good tour advice. The bitter is quite nice, as is the Cornish pasty, and burger my wife had. To top off the very nice lunch the waitress gave us great advice on things to see within walking distance. If we ever get back to Halifax we will make a point of visiting the Henry House again and can definitely recommend to others.

We were fortunate to get a table when we arrived on a Wed evening to a packed house. My husband had a beer, I had nachos which were average. The shepherds pie my husband had was the best ever he said. We liked the atmosphere and the music was good. I won’t hold the average nachos against them and would return and order something different. Service was good, and for the 3 items and a tip the bill came to $55

Having not eaten a rel meal since Friday evening due to Hurricane Dorian we were keen to find somewhere open, with electricity and serving at lunch on Sunday. Henry House looked like an old fashioned English pub and served very good food and bee rs to match most at home. Coupled with excellent service, even though they were short of staff due to people not being able to get in post the hurricane, meant that we had a really good time. Strongly recommended.

This is rated one of the top restaurants in Halifax for good reason. We received great service during our visit to the pub downstairs, and the food was simply delicious. They also have a very nice selection of craft beers on tap to boot. This will continue to be a staple during any trip to Halifax. If you haven't visited, I highly recommend you check it out.

We came here because it was close to our hotel. Good beer and wine selection, excellent friendly service. My wife ordered the Shepard’s pie which she loved so much she ordered it again when we came back a 2nd time. I had the fish cakes and fish and chips and both were top drawer. Great outdoor seating, never looked in the pub so can’t comment. We really enjoyed going here both times.

This is an excellent ale house as it's the only place in the area that serves real ale or to the less knowledgeable cask conditioned ale. There's 3 of them on hand pull. Peculiar, Best Bitter and Best bitter special there are various "Guest Beers" all are displayed on the drinks menu. I tried most of the ales, well it would have been rude not to and it's safe to say there were all Marvellous. They also do food and the building is something historical, whatever floats ye boat. The only downside was that the gravy was rubbish not very British so take some OXO (other brands are available in shops) with you in a flask.

Met a couple of friends here for supper. Lovely old-world atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating (seasonally). We sat in the basement which was a real throwback to another time - lots of stone and exposed wood beams in a dark, yet cozy environment. I enjoyed a Keefe's Irish Stout along with a chicken and leek pie. My beverage was very good and I quite enjoyed the pie - very filling. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices are reasonable for Halifax, especially considering the historic and unique nature of this establishment.

We enjoyed good service, good food and good atmosphere at the Henry House. We tasted our first Poutine--never having heard of it before--and found that we quite liked it although one order was enough to give 4 of us a sufficient sampling! I loved my salad with Goat Cheese and would certainly return to this establishment if ever I return to Halifax. We're quite happy when the waitress has no problem giving us each our separate checks--we get an argument about that "back home!"

Our hotel check-in lady recommended the Henry House for a late lunch/early beer. We sat in a pleasant outdoors area and were promptly served an excellent burger and local beer by a friendly and efficient waitress named Laura. We liked it so much we decided to return the following day for dinner, but didn't have a reservation. Anthony worked us in anyway and we had a great dinner. The restaurant is in an old historic home that has a different atmosphere on different levels. All in all, Henry's House has it all: pleasant atmosphere, good service, good food, local beer, all at a reasonable price. They do accept reservations, but you cannot book on the website.
