Went to Henry’s on the 14th Dec 2024 had the most amazing Christmas buffet menu…. Plenty of food …..young girls who served us were amazing and so friendly…. Would definitely recommend 🎄🎄🎄😋😋😋😋

The food was lacking in flavour and authenticity sauces were bottled,little or no vegetables, ie,mushrooms bamboo shoots.Also very small amount of chicken in chow main,the bulk of it was noodles

Fantastic buffet lunch on Father's Day. The staff were friendly and very helpful and food was delicious with a well balanced selection. We'll be back!

Yet again, I chose Henry's Oriental to celebrate my birthday with close family members. This was a big one... my 60th birthday with the added bonus of it also being Fathers' Day. We all had the lunch-time buffet. The food was superb as always. The team took the time to decorate my table with 60th Birthday themed glittery things, sang happy birthday and also presented me with a lovely gift. None of this was expected and it was all so appreciated helping to make a great day even more enjoyable. The team were on top form as always; polite on the ball and not too busy to share a few words. Henry's Oriental is one of the very few restaurants in the area where we all feel so welcomed and so at ease. It's a special place run by a great team and we all look forward to visiting again in the very near future.

Got a take away of chicken cashew and Hong Kong style pork. The pork was okay, but the chicken.. where do I begin. Literally plain boiled pieces of chicken I could’ve boiled myself at home. With a questionable sauce, and pieces of carrots and boiled cashews. Absolutely terribly. Worst chicken cashew I’ve ever had.ended up binning it

What a great dining experience at Henry’s . The service from start to finish was excellent and the ladies were friendly and knowledgeable about the food . The quality of the food was outstanding I would go so far as saying the best Chinese I have tasted . No rush in dining either which made the visit more enjoyable and the price was reasonable. A lovely visit .

Went tonight for my friends birthday, first time there and will for sure be back again. Made us feel so welcomed and even decorated the table for my friends birthday. Staff were really helpful and worked very hard. Will be back again.

Had a fantastic meal with friends last night. All food was delicious 😋 The young lady that was serving us was extremely friendly, made recommendations and very professional. Would highly recommend and definitely will visit again.

Another great night at Henry's. Food is plentiful, tasty and of good quality and the service was quick and efficient. The staff are always friendly and accommodating and there's never a rush to be in and out quickly. Will be back again soon!

Come for the lunch time buffet and will definitely be back! Staff work really hard, food is always being topped up, tables cleared often and all were friendly! The food was really nice & there was a good selection.

Best gluten free Chinese we have ever had, just a shame we live 3 hours away! We had a takeaway and could not fault anything. It was extremely busy but staff were super organised and calm under pressure. Food was fantastic and would most certainly visit again when we are in the area. Top tip - order your takeaway early. We ordered 6pm on a Saturday and the soonest collection time was 8.45pm.

Just had a wonderful meal last night (Saturday)for a party of 5. Three of us are gluten and dairy intolerant and one vegetarian. We were asked to preorder due to it being a busy Saturday night and in order for the chef to take all precautions not to cross contaminate with any allergens. We were all delighted and impressed with the amount of variety and meal choices available, all catering for our needs. Food was delicious and the service speedy and attentive. We all were very impressed and would readily recommend this restaurant every time. A big thank you to Henry and his lovely team. Look forward to our next visit.

Such a lovely restaurant. Food was well presented and tasted delicious. Staff very friendly and happy to help. The room looked pretty with fairy lights and had a warm feeling to it. I'm going again soon.

We have always loved Henry's and it's usually a real treat, however our recent take out was disappointingly mediocre; the broadbean starter had barely any chillies, so no heat, and little flavour and the noodles were dry and bland, without there usual delicious smokey flavour. I hope this was just a one off and not due to cost cutting :(

One of the best meals out I have had in a while. Had set meal D, plenty of tasty and varied food for £26 pp. The staff seem to be really well trained so the service is excellent. Take cash so you can leave them a nice tip! Recommended

Looked after the grandchildren well with a colouring competition for Halloween which my granddaughter has entered And special chop sticks for my husband tied together a warm friendly place I had intended to press a five star sorry the food was hot and delicious wish the plates had been a bit larger to save going back to the buffet twice 😊

We come here regularly as we've never had a bad experience. The food as always was lovely. Had the sharing platter to start then crispy chilli beef. Service was brilliant and the staff were very friendly. The little fairy lights create a lovely atmosphere.

Another great evening at Henry's. It's been far too long since our last visit but, as always, the food was of the usual good quality and the service was excellent. It was busy but everyone was quick and efficient and there was no waiting. We wouldn't consider anywhere else in this area for Chinese food. Well done Henry!

For me and my partners first time at the restaurant we found the service absolutely fantastic the waiters was very on point with my dierty issues and helped me with what i was choosing by giving me a menu full of dishes that have all allegiance to people. He helped me guide through what i was choosing to make sure it had nothing i was intolerant to. He also came back from The chefs after checking to makes sure that my food i had chosen was fine for me and to make sure everything was ok they were on point with it all and we was well looked after. The food was delicious and i couldnt recommend a better place for fantasic service and food.

Disappointing, lacking authentic and rich flavours. I was expecting this to be better than a standard Chinese takeaway, but it wasn't as nice as a really good takeaway! The service was polite, but fake, from people who said polite words without real warmth (other than one genuine lady who greeted and seated us, and may have been a manager!) Won't go back, we'll vote with our feet!

Whilst the service and the starters were fine, my main dish, Szechuan Beef, had a distinct urine smell that put me off. Im told this can be the bamboo shoots. Asked for no peppers or onions found 2 in the dish along with spring onion in the fried rice. I don't complain about food, to the people that handle my food so.. left really unimpressed. Also why do you need so many waiting staff? Served by so many different people! Feels really impersonal. Honestly wish Id just gone to my local takeaway, food is better and cheaper to boot.

A great find while a weekend away! I highly recommend the hk style, sweet and sour. The service was great, and if we are ever this way again, we would definitely visit again.

This place is my mum’s go-to. I have always struggled, being a vegetarian, to find places to find authentic good tasting Chinese/Asian food. My family are all meat eaters, so finding somewhere to accommodate both, especially in Yate, is really hard. Henry’s always have 10/10 service, advise what is vegetarian and even go the extra mile to make dishes vegetarian. Service is honestly the best for any restaurant / takeaway in the area/most of Bristol. The crispy broad beans are the best too (nobody is allowed to share these with me). The meal I had tonight, especially the Pak Choi, took me back to travelling around SE Asia. If I could give this 10 stars, I would.

I celebrated my 59th birthday with my wife, daughter and the team at Henry's yesterday evening. We are frequent visitors, both for dinner and the Sunday buffet (take aways also) and are always made to feel so welcome to the point that we feel part of the Henry's Oriental family. We first discovered Henry's through friends back in 2011 and my wife and I, friends and family members, still enjoy the Henry's experience to this day. We have never been disappointed. The care and consideration for customers offered by Henry and his wonderful team (a special shout out to Zowie, sorry if the spelling is incorrect) is faultless and the food is, without fail, amazing. I can't thank the team enough for making my 59th birthday complete. Looking forward to celebrating with you on my 60th.

Delicious takeaway food for a family gathering, delivered to the door. On time, food hot, helpful friendly staff. Food was brilliant. Highly recommended.

Coeliac friendly with excellent service and huge attention to detail with allergen menus. First time here and it was such a delight to be able to order such a wide range of food, especially at an oriental restaurant. This is definitely going to be a regular choice for us now. Highly recommend the Singapore Slings too!

Had my sons 40th Birthday party at Henrys. We had the Buffet and this was exceptional qualty quantity and value. Great venue with attentive staff . They couldnt have done more to make our evening a very special one . Excellent!!! Highly recommended

Ordered a takeaway. Food reslly disappointing - bland & inseasoned. Also pretty expensive for what we got. Massively disappointing as we have known Henry for a very long while. Worst meal that we have had!

Great little unknown restaurant, tucked away above The George, in Sodbury high st. Lovely staff, menu is superb..they do an excellent take away service also.

Have not been to the restaurant recently but when did it was excellent. However it is the only takeaway where my son has been able to have one. He has some severe allergies and (with the exception of Friday & Saturday when too busy,) they will use fresh oil. It also tastes good too. Pleasant staff even when busy including Henry. Definitely worth a try.

If you fancy some really good Chinese food, and want to experience amazing service then this is the place for you. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout the meal. We didn't even have to wait to order more drinks as they were with us before our glasses were empty. The food was amazing, all served quickly and the crispy duck (for the pancakes) was shredded for us at the table, which was a lovely touch. Looking forward to going again - apparently the Sunday buffet is great so that's my next visit!

Food & Service superb!!! We ate here on a Friday night as a group of 4. Didn’t know what to expect, but it was absolutely delicious. The food was hot, tasty and a good portion. The service was second to none, very attentive and polite! Would definitely recommend to anyone!!

got a large takeaway with all sorts in to cater for mixed bag of people eating... everything from starters to mains. The food in Henrys always used to be excellent & completely faultless, but I found that tonight the quality was not consistent.. the vegetable and rice dishes were good.. but not as good at they used to be... and the meat dishes lacked flavour/ seasoning + meat was overcooked/not tender. This is most unlike Henrys?... Perhaps the usual chef was not on? .. sad to report that overall experience was average and not a cut-above the rest like it used to be.

Excellent food - we collected a takeaway spread for 2 on Sunday night and it was all excellent - everything was well cooked and tasty. Pleased it's close to us, will use again.

Such a fab Chinese restaurant, try the phoenix dragon rolls! You won't regret it. Staff are wonderful.

Who would have thought this treasure of a place tucked away on the second floor of a hotel in a place I never heard of. But you really must visit, the service food and place are incredible. We will be returning

We had such an incredible evening at Henry’s Oriental last week!! We went on a Saturday evening and we were originally going to drink a pint whilst ordering to take away but decided to see if we could eat in. They managed to squeeze us in and you could see they were busy but that truly didn’t affect the quality of service at all. We were sat in a lounge area that had a film on a TV the size of my car but we waited less than 5 minutes before being sat at a table that had prawn crackers ready to go. Soon after we ordered a couple of cocktails that came from the lounge next door and then we ordered our food! We went with the five spice chicken to start which tasted amazing and very clearly in a fresh and light batter. We were also given a finger bowl too! My partner ordered the egg fried rice and orange chicken and he said the rice was possibly the best he’d had. I ordered the fried Singapore style vermicelli and the beef sizzler with a sweet garlic sauce. I don’t even know how they made the beef so tender but it melted in my mouth and the noodles had amazing chicken and pork in it too which tasted JUST as good the next day. The portion of noodles could definitely be shared but I was glad to be able to take it home so my experience with them lasted longer. The whole way through the evening all of the wait staff were attentive, efficient and helpful! We have already decided this is where we’ll bring friends and family too because we’re new to the area and SO pleased we’ve found a place. Will absolutely be visiting again thank you so much!

I was there last year, celebrating my 30th birthday. The place was lovely, the food was really tasty and the staff was very kind. I'll come back this year for my birthday again :D

We haven’t been to Henry’s for ages and had forgotten just how good it is the service and food were excellent. We will be back again without so much of a break and if we have a takeaway will only get it from here.

Our first time of trying Henry's and it definitely won't be the last! We had chicken curry, roast pork canton style, Kung Po chicken and egg fried rice and each dish was amazingly delicious. Looking forward to our next one and hopefully eating in the restaurant sometime soon!

First time at Henry's but not the last. The Valentines evening set menu far exceeded our expectations , beautifully cooked , great variety of dishes to try and all served by excellent staff . Brilliant.

Loved it! The peppered salt squid, sweet and sour Hong Kong style, prawn toast and duck was amazing. Cooked to perfection. I really liked the decor as tastefully styled and with Christmas decorations. Very friendly staff and well priced. The hoisin sauce was delightful and tender duck, all with the right amount of crisp and soft meat. I will definitely be heading back, I had a takeaway with a friend before so thought I would try the restaurant and I'm glad I did. Just to add to this review, I went back to try more dishes, very authentic to Chinese cuisine, the Pak choi in garlic and oyster sauce was great as well as the lemon chicken.

Recommended by a friend who obviously doesn't know what palletable food is. I know that covid has forced you on to allocated slots so the wait can be quite a while but that does not excuse the leather tough satay chicken skewers, or the questionable meat or lack of in my rice dish. The wontons... where do I start on the wontons... over battered, non existent filling... and a sauce pot so big I could of drowned my disappointed face in. Not only was i overcharged for the quality of food I received but.... I had to pay a separate charge of £8 to get it delivered.... £8 for a 10min drive... Quite frankly you are a direct insult to Chinese cuisine.

We treated ourselves to a Sunday night takeaway treat from Henry's. As usual the food was delicious - we enjoyed the crispy duck and sweet and sour Hong Kong style king prawns. Whether we eat in or have a takeaway the food is always outstanding, and Henry's thoroughly deserves its reputation for being the best Chinese restaurant in the area.

I organised a meal for our martial arts club to get together to have the buffet. The staff were fantastic with helping me organise & pay for the meal upfront. Even accommodating the vegetarian within the group to ensure there was an option available within the buffet set menu. I had to ring a few times leading up to the evening and every time I was greeted with friendly staff more than happy to assist. On the evening this continued throughout the night even with keeping tabs on drinks between couples so that when it came to that dreaded splitting the bill it had already been worked out and was nice and straight forward. Thank you everyone for an enjoyable evening everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.

We had a lovely evening Friday 19th. Excellent food and although restaurant was extremely busy, with new staff, staff they were courteous and friendly. Food as usual was really good and promptly served. We have regular takeaways from here but nice to visit the restaurant when we can now we are allowed. Well done everyone we know how hard you have worked to keep things running through all the rrstrictions.

Manager was incredibly insolent, even made a friend cry. In addition over charged by over £5.00. Have never seen a manger handle a situation so terribly in all my years in the catering industry.

Henry's Oriental Chinese was absolutely amazing. Very bubbly and friendly staff. The food we could not manage to eat was put in to boxes to bring home. Would highly recommend.

The food was good, the resturant was not busy but the wait for the food was quite lengthy, the waitresses did keep us topped up with drinks though. Not sure how many chefs or cooks were there. Otherwise it would have been 4 stars.

Came here for a birthday meal. As always very tasty food served by lovely staff.

We tried this restaurant for the first time last Sunday and had the buffet lunch. It was very nice. The food was amazing and the staff were lovely. Zoe was our waitress for most of our visit and she was brilliant. Fast forward to Thursday and we decided to order takeaway. Zoe took our order and it was delivered at the time we wanted. The driver was very polite and the food again was amazing. We have only lived in Chipping Sodbury for 8 weeks and are over the moon that we have such a nice Chinese restaurant/takeaway just around the corner. We would definitely recommend

Spot on! Great service and great food.

Based on what others have rated/mentioned in their reviews, it was surprisingly poor. The Egg Fried Rice barely had any egg and there wasn't anything which actually suggested the rice was even fried - just boiled. Also clumps of uncooked/hard rice. The orange chicken contained poor quality meat. It was also chewy and overcooked. We had beef noodles (prominently for our son) and it actually tasted like salt, which was totally bizzare. Couldn't taste anything else and never experienced that before. We couldn't feed him this food and we were not full at the end, despite ordering 5 dishes as we couldn't and would not finish it. On the up side, the ribs we had were nice. Crispy shredded beef was average. Schezwan hot and sour soup was poor. Sorry guys, but hopefully this will be noted more so than a phone call.

Henry was exceptional in helping us to arrange for a special dinner for our 21 yr old son who is living on his own in Bristol. It was our son's 21st birthday and due to CoVID, he is unable to return to Perth, Australia to be with us. I emailed Henry to ask if he would accept our order (from Australia) and he replied without hesitant - YES! Even though it's outside his delivery suburbs! He even offered us advice on where to order a cake and made arrangement with the lady to have the cake delivered to his shop to add to the food delivery for our son. That was truly kind of him and his staff to help us make our son's milestone birthday really special! Thank you so much Henry and your team of staff!!!! Definitely highly recommended if you want to a special place with special people to have a meal!

We have been visiting Henry’s for 8 years and have never been disappointed! As a vegetarian I really enjoy being able to swap quorn into the different dishes and the staff are able to advise on which sauces are vegetarian! We have had a number of parties at Henry’s and have always been so looked after! The valentines meal deal was excellent and a lot of thought had been put into the detail! Thanks so much to the team!!

We booked a valentines day takeaway meal for delivery with a bottle of wine. The food was delivered on time, the quality was excellent as was the quantity. We had a four course meal from the special menu for that weekend only. There were four starter dishes to share followed a quarter crispy duck then a choice of two main dishes with rice selected from four available on the menu. There were also delicious deserts to share. All this along with a nice bottle of wine, a red rose, prawn crackers and either fortune cookies or chopsticks. A most enjoyable evening for two. Thanks to all al Henrys for making such an effort at these difficult times.

Would rate 5 star, but gave me runs.

My wife and I fancied a treat this evening to cheer us up during the lockdown, so we decided to order a Chinese meal from Henry’s Oriental. We had one of the set meals for two and it was all excellent. We ordered and paid for it by telephone and it was delivered within the half-hour window that we requested. Make no mistake, this food is not to be compared with the many Chinese takeaways in the area. This is restaurant quality food for eating at home.It may be slightly more expensive but it is of far superior quality and well worth it. We just cant wait until the end of this awful lockdown to go back to the restauarant with friends to enjoy an evening there.

We absolutely love the food from Henry's restaurant. We have been having regular takeaway deliveries, even more so since the lockdowns. Also go to the restaurant when we get the chance. The food and the service is always first class. Fresh hot and full of flavour, the schezwan beef being my personal favourite. The only problem now is that i won't go anywhere else for Chinese food, as it just doesn't come close. Thanks Henry and team, keep up the good work.
