This used to be a nice place but we went here for a few drinks and only stayed for one. The floor staff were incredibly rude. The bar was poorly organised, the staff didn't know who was first (and it wasn't very busy), and the table we got pointed to "go over there" was grubby. I'm not going back.

A good place to have a drink or meal in the centre of Cardiff. Reasonably priced and a good selection of drinks in offer, including tea/coffee. Two or three steps on the way into the bar and I saw no ramp, so if you have a wheelchair then it would be very difficult to get in. I'm not aware if they have a way of combating that, so you may want to check before your visit.

Very disappointed at Henry's today. All the roast dinners had gone before 6pm so I had to choose an alternative unlike the diners next to us who left immediately. I asked if they had garlic mayo to go with my meal. "Yes we do". Except no they didn't, the kitchen had run out of that as well. After my meal I ordered a latté only for the poor waiter to have to come back and tell me they'd also run out of milk! Only oat milk left which I don't like. The dead daffodils on every table didn't improve the situation either. The young man who served us was very pleasant and most apologetic so 5 stars for him.

Nice place, good food but rude, abrasive and sarcastic waitress. Julie even had the nerve to give us a card to leave a comment about her service.

Called in was really busy and lively we were shown to a table immediately excellent food and service a young polite waiter named Arthur made all the difference to our visit And even though himself and his colleagues We're extremely busy he took the time and patience to attend to everyone's needs Well done young man bravo will definitely be calling here again 👏

Came for a bottomless brunch… and oh was it worth it! Timea our waitress was amazing, such a laugh and didn’t leave us without a drink! Food was lovely, and the atmosphere was great. Definitely worth a visit, and if you have Timea as your waitress then you’re doubly lucky!

We had a very nice meal at Henry's. Steak and venison pie for me, and fish and chips for my wife. Emi took very good care of us, accommodating our requested changes to dishes. Good food at a good price.

We went to Henry's for brunch and this was great. Curtis was our server and he was absolutely fantastic and made sure everything was okay for everyone, even making amendments to drinks for some people. Thank you Curtis for your amazing service, we really appreciated it and will definitely be back! In terms of food, the brunch food was good, however some of my sausages were almost rock solid and I could not eat them, if this was resolved this would have been an amazing brunch however this would not put me off coming again, thoroughly enjoyed. Coffee was nice, however breakfast was bang average, the toast tasted like a tangerine and my bacon tasted like a pack of walkers, it was extremely over cooked. Great drinks however food is below average.

Great food. Good prices plenty of choice. Pie was lovely with plenty of veg. We were there for pre theatre late afternoon lunch. Served in great time had lovely cheesecake afterwards. Food not rushed and service was fab from Julie and her colleague - thank you

Went for pre theatre dinner. However unlike previous theatre reviewers ate early giving us plenty of time to eat at leisure and have coffee and dessert after knowing it would be busy. Served by Julie and other young man who were very polite no rush. Had Lamb shank and husband had Beef rib. Both served piping hot and in reasonable time. No rush, no problem. Perhaps future diners prior to theatre reservations need to inform Henry’s of theatre trip and take advice from them on what time to reserve table due to increased demand.

Pre-theatre dinner reservation. Had to wait to be seated. Understaffed. Long wait for drinks, only receiving them after complaining. Another long wait for food. ANOTHER COMPLAINT. Was offered free drinks that never arrived. Finally received our meals. Lamb shank was cold and the Hunters chicken was just about warm. ANOTHER COMPLAINT. Was offered a discount on our bill which we turned down and left without paying. Witnessed other diners complaining about cold food and slow service. Also witnessed diners leaving as they hadn’t been served. At the end of the day, if Henry’s cannot cope with the amount of bookings for a pre-theatre dinner service, then they should turn down bookings, it’s better to have a half full restaurant with happy diners than a full restaurant with unhappy diners. The staff also need more support with extra staff on duty at busy times. I’m not sure if the place is under new management but if it is then they’re not doing a great job. Henry’s has been in that same spot for well over 30 years and the pre-theatre dinner service after that long should be a beeeze. I certainly would not recommend this place to anyone now and shall not be returning anytime soon which is a shame.

Reserved a table for 6pm as we were seeing a show at 7.30 so gave us 1.5 hours for food before the show. Turned up they couldn’t find my reservation so showed them the confirmation email. Found us a table, sat down waited 25 min before we even got a menu. Ordered drinks and food eventually, both of us wanted steak but they had sold out so ordered something else. Waited another 15 mins for the drinks! People had been waiting ages for food and all complaining, I asked the waiter how long food would be as we had a show to go to and already been sat at our table around 40 mins and only just ordered the food as service was so slow with the waiter coming over to be told at least 45 mins!!! So ended up leaving as wouldn’t be enough time. So went away disappointed and hungry with not enough time to find somewhere else to eat in time before the show. Terrible experience and will lot be returning or recommending this place to anyone!

Went Henry's on Valentine Day with my wife for food before the show in the New Theatre. Had ribeye steak and a bottle of red in the Valetines offer £45. The steaks were lovely and so was the wine. Andrew was our waiter who was friendly and efficient. Lovely experience. Definitely recommend.

We haven't been to Henry's since finishing work in the city centre. The food and staff, especially Julie, was first class. The table service was attentive. Never felt rushed. Would recommend to anyone. We will be back.

Went for pre-show drinks at Henry’s with some friends. The bartender argued that they didn’t have any bitter lemon (to accompany my gin), despite the fact that my friend had previously ordered the same drink. The bartender was adamant that they didn’t stock it, even when I explained that they obviously did! He never bothered to look. In the end I retrieved the bottle from my friends order to show him. No apology was given! Shocking attitude and poor customer service.

Everything was as you would expect. Julie was very professional and on the ball. Would definitely go back.

Visited for pre theatre dinner on 14th Feb 2024, plenty of tables available, service was relaxed and unrushed and Julie was very friendly and efficient. Rather than a main we had a selection of starters and side. We had the scallops on minted peas, dauphinoise potatoes and bbq chicken wings, all of which were very good, I would recommend all of them. One suggestion I would make is asking for a finger bowl as the bbq sauce got everywhere due to me being a messy eater!

Decided to pop in with my wife for dinner a few weeks ago, while away in Cardiff for the weekend. From the start... the only unoccupied table we found for ourselves had to be cleared, had to find menus myself. At no stage did any staff come to us, so after about 20 minutes of a wait, I went to the bar and asked for someone to please come take our order - another 25 minutes later someone finally came to take our order and to clear the table. Half an hour later, though it could have taken longer - I honestly lost the will to keep checking the time - the food finally arrived. It was mostly cold and inedible. I would have added some salt/pepper/ketchup to it to add some flavour but none was provided - once again I had to go find some myself. We'll definitely be back in Cardiff - but not here.

This is a fantastic place for great service and food. Our waitress Timea was amazing, friendly and always had a smile. The food was delicious and did not disappoint. Definitely be back again. Thank you to everyone.

Disastrous visit. Arrived at 5pm. The restaurant was quiet. We were Looking forward to a nice pre theatre meal . Drinks order taken promptly. Food ordered. We ordered a starter which did arrive. 1hr 20 minutes later main course still not arrived. Other people who came in after us served before us. . I prompted the waitress as we had very little time until our show was starting. My burger swiftly arrived . It was stone cold in the middle. I don't think I would have minded so much if there had been an apology and admission that our order had sadly been forgotten. Ruined our evening.

Haven't been here for a long time but pleasantly surprised. Bar staff were friendly and drinks were reasonable priced. It was quite bright but good range of table sizes for different sized groups and a cheerful atmosphere.

I will avoid Henry's in December and with a large booking. The waiting staff were pleasant and tried hard but they were fighting a loosing battle. We had preorderd only to find that they had sold out of our deserts by 6pm. Surely by pre ordering you keep the already ordered food to one side. Not sell it twice. Possibly a money making scheme? One of the party had a severe nut allergy and could only have a cheese board but the staff had already given that out. Thankfully one of my group took charge of the waiting staff and was able to allocate most preorders to guests. The turkey was cold and as an apology Henry's felt that giving 4 bottles of prosecco to 32 people was appropriate. That is 10mls per person. At least company was great and we will go out again next December - just never to Henry's!!!

Had our works Xmas do, clearly couldn’t cope with numbers. Not good when you see the staff all smoking by the side door on the way in. Food cold, carrots were burnt, beef quite fatty although gravlax was good. Wasn’t worth the price and considering all the other reviews something is amiss here and needs sorting. Waitress tried her best.

Excellent meal and drinks at Henry's. The bartenders we're friendly, drinks were very good especially the Passion Fruit Martini. Burger and chicken burger were served hot and in a timely manner. We will definitely be back.

It has been a while since dining here, so gave it a go for a lunchtime meal. Service was very slow, although the restaurant side wasn't full, we were told it was a 40-50 minute wait for food! Goodness knows how long it would have been if the restaurant was full! After finishing eating, the plates were left with us for probably another 30 minutes. Didn't stay for desert, or probably would have spent another 60 minutes there!! Asked for the bill and was provided, but wasn't asked how we wanted to pay so no card machine was brought, we had to ask! In a pretty much cashless society, bit more forethought was probably needed. Sorry to say that there are better dining options in Cardiff, I won't be back.
