Outstanding food in a nice venue. Convenient location and enough parking on site or nearby. The food was incredible and the staff were quick, polite and super efficient. We visited as a group of 6 and were served really fast but everything was fresh and delicious. Stand-out dish for me is the Gobi Manchurian. So good we had to order a second plate. Everyone on the table loved it!

First time new have used this restaurant. I just can’t compliment it enough. Food - choice and quality - excellent. Service - excellent. Cost - excellent VFM.

First time going to this restaurant/pub, on entering we were greeted straight away and shown our table. Our drinks order was prompt and when the drinks came we ordered our food. 3 people ordered curry meals. Tikka Masala & Butter chicken, these were found to be too spicy hot. Jalfrezi was hotter than you would normally have elsewhere. Butter chicken was a huge disappointment for one of our friends. Other friend had halloumi burger. Unfortunately all of us have had an upset stomach today. This may not be the food and a bug but is a coincidence. Most staff were friendly & pleasant.

lovely food. Mixed grill excellent. smell was so good people on another table ordered it.. (despite the smoke alarm being activated!) . Young waiter was excellent and very engaging. When I asked if we got our meal free as smoke alarm went off he instantly replied it would cost more ( we knew he was joking!)

There was a 14yr old who was very rude and discourteous. He refused to help me with ordering and I believe he tampered with my food. He was very unprofessional. 1 star would not recommend

My favourite place to go, the service is always brilliant, nothing is too much for the staff they always go above and beyond. The food is always great, good selection for everyone and you can order pub food and Indian food. There is an option to sit in the garden or inside and no matter where you sit the service is the same. Whether it’s a family meal or a few drinks in the evening everyone is welcome and it is just a relaxed atmosphere. Massive selection of drinks and cocktails. The shows that they put on are just fantastic cannot recommend this place enough.

Took my daughter and wife for a birthday lunch.food excellent,hot,plentiful and well presented.they have an Indian menu and a pub menu so a large choice.I would recommend the dosa which was the second time I have had this dish at this pub. We came here Saturday evening for a family meal. All the staff were very polite and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble: The food was cooked to a high standard and was absolutely delicious. Glad we booked in advance, we wouldn’t have got in otherwise. Would highly recommend this place and would definitely come here again, if we were in the area. Thank you to everyone who served us, and to the chefs for the excellent food.

A group of us went for a lovely lunch at this local pub in Southwater, West Sussex.Our meals ranged from ham, egg and chips, omelette, fish and chips, macaroni and salad and I had sausage, egg and chips. The two sausages I had were huge, extremely tasty and I think obtained from a nearby local butchers.Other specials were visible on the blackboard along with puddings. The staff very very obliging and the food and drinks reasonably priced.

Lovely landlord, lovely pub, but Sunday lunch not great, I suppose that fact that it was pretty empty was a bad sign, maybe 3 other couples.I had phoned and asked about a carvery, the person answering said that it isn't BUT the food is cooked on the premises. It clearly isn't, the beef and lamb ignore cooked and tasteless, typical Brake Bros fayre, and the Yorkshires are bought in.Cheap, edible, but not one I would return to. Sad as the pub and host are spot on.

First visit for me yesterday meeting friends for lunch and a good gossip! Not many traditional old English pubs left sadly but this is one! Dating back to the 1800's it has kept it's old worlde charm and what a delight to have no loud music or a TV blaring away in the corner! My second visit for lunch with friends. It lived up to the first visit. First class food, welcoming staff and lovely decor. Everything you want. It is a PROPER pub with a great atmosphere. Previously we had the delicious Carvary but this time we chose from the menu. We all decided on burgers, and my beef one was the best I have had in years. The others loved theirs too, including the lamb burger. The puddings are great and once again I had the waffle and ice cream. Yum. It is our restaurant of choice now when we meet. Highly recommend this delightful place, great food, atmosphere and value.

So me and my wife happened upon this little place when we were house viewing. All I can say is nostalgia!!! It's the type of pub that you just revert back to your childhood!! This is not your gastronomic pub or your fine dining pub. This is your local pub which serves local ales and usual beers what more do you want? Great bar staff, friendly locals, family and dog friendly. Had a great night last Friday during one of their events and the time flew by. Will go back and try their food.

We stopped here for lunch last week, it is right on the main road but, has plenty of parking. Once inside you can't even hear the traffic noise. We ate an omelette, Goulash and the Sausage bagette. The Pork Goulash was very filing, tasty with plenty of rice, very peppery. The Sausage bagette used locally sauced sausages which were very nice, lean and tasty. The hand cut chips were lovely and plentiful. Mother had a Cheese and Tomato omelette, again with hand cut chips. The service was personal and quick. The beer and wine was also acceptable. All round good choice for lunch.

Regulars at the Hen, great place went there for dinner couple of Saturdays ago lovely meal Emma really knows her craft, Chris was in great form too, beer good as per our favorite pub in the area, will be back in this weekend.

My husband and I regularly visit the Hen & Chicken for lunch and we've never been disappointed. It's your average pub fayre but it is great value for money. Especially the 2 for £9 menu..... very decent sized meals considering the low price, with great taste and presentation. We've even visited with the dog, and she's welcomed by a water bowl by the bar and complimentary treats on the bar!!!

An extremely friendly village pub with staff and regulars making you feel welcome whenever you walk through the door. The beer is excellently managed and the food is prepared with fantastic care. Be prepared for long enjoyable conversations with other villagers in the pub.

Very homely with friendly staff and quick service. It's a very small pub and the only easily accessible one in that it area which affords the locals a short walk to have something to eat or drink without having to go into town.

We will start with the only negative and that is the Hen snd Chickens web site. We were visiting elderley relatives nearby and wanted to view a menu before going there but none was shown on the website . We had to phone the pub to ascertain what meals were available and prices. We think it would be helpful if a menu with prices was included on the web site. Now the good news this is an authentic pub selling traditional British food and fair prices.We enjoyed our evening meal and when we come down to this area again we would not hesitate to eat here. The service as friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. In addition to the standard printed menu there is an excellen Specials board

We were returning from a day out in Worthing to Surrey and at the suggestion of a friend called in at Hen and Chicken for a evening meal and a drink. We would not described the menu as exactly healthy eating as no salads etc. However there were some great choices and we forgot about the healthy eating and really enjoyed our food. The minted lamb and vegetable pie was delicious. Generous portions at reasonable prices. The staff were very friendly. The venue itself was a fairly basic traditional pub retaining what would appear to be many of its original features.We would certainly return to eat here again if passing.

Great pint - fabulous food - the most congenial host not forgetting the rest of the staff too. We had fish'n'chips and sausages' n'roast potatoes (YumYum). My wife and 14 year old son paid our yearly visit here on a Wednesday evening with friends from Southwater and as usual we were made to feel very welcome. We had a hearty meal with a cracking local real ale and the bill doesn't break the bank! We are a little sad that we will be leaving before the weekend as Sunday lunch is spectacular (but make sure you book).
