£5.40 for a sausage bap, consisting of 2 measly supermarket sausages in a small dry bap (the small dry bap was an 'extra' £1 as part of the cost). I thought places like this in London were the worst, but congratulations Hemingways for providing the worst value for money I've experienced in many years (I travel 15 days a month to various cities, so I have a large bank of reference establishments). What a complete and utter rip off. If I hadn't been in a rush I would have made my feelings known directly to the manager, whom I'm hoping would have felt appropriately embarrassed and ashamed.

Just happened to be going past and thought I'd drop in for a pint. It's a bit on the outskirts of the city centre but it seems like a nice place with nice staff and they pull a nice pint. They have a stage so it looks like they have artists on stage during the day. Didn't stay long enough to see the acts so will have to return to see what they are like.

Live music excellent and bar staff really hard working and nice got the owner converted into putting cointreau in his bailey's😂 he'll even take the time to have a drink and conversation with you highly recommended get the cointreau out I'll be back with freinds this Saturday for another great evening. Keep up the good work. Couldn't put stars in for food unfortunately as haven't tried it yet but if it's like your customer service and welcoming bar I'm sure it's 5 star

It’s quite a cozy cafe with clean and decent interiors. Ordered a Mocha and a Brie & Cranberry panini which was totally worth the spend. The Mocha was a perfect balance between sweet and bitter, and just hot enough to enjoy sipping. Service was quite quick, and customer satisfaction wasn’t compromised at all. Absolutely loved the thoughtfulness behind serving a side of salted nachos acting as a palate-cleanser, just so the panini and mocha don’t ruin the experience. Would 110% recommend!

I'm doing a Postgraduate Pathway, at the nearby Liverpool John Moores University Faculty of Health, and found this little, "Nuggett", purely by chance. It's inconspicuous in its Location, but wow, what an absolute hidden Gem. Love its Funky Decor and Background Music. It's a Cafe AND Bar which puts on Live Gigs, and has Open Mic and Open Vinyl Nights. Staff are brilliant, as is the Customer Service. Great Selection of competitively priced Food and Drink, and the Egg, Bacon, and Sausage Sandwich is amazing. Cannot recommend Hemmingways highly enough. See you in the New Year.

As my title would suggest, like the great author Hemingway, this delightful medium size café come evening bar, is both understated and packs a punch. I visit Liverpool regularly on business, and need to eat out for breakfast. Since the pandemic most of the cafe's don't open until 08.00hrs at the earliest, but Hemingway's is open from 07.30hrs, perfect for my office hours. This is definitely a UK rather than Euro style breakfast option, but absolutely not a greasy spoon. More funky blues bar. The coffee is excellent, and the fried egg and bacon toasted sandwich (£4.95), was everything it should be.. Real fresh, doorstep bread, thick tasty bacon, and a fresh tasting runny egg. (Note to self, ask for the egg a little harder next time). With a large glass of carton OJ this all came to £8.95. There are wraps available, yoghurt and granola, jumbo cook breakfast, or pick and choose. No sign of fresh pastry's, but to be fair I forgot to ask for a definitive answer. Service was quick and cheerful, I was first through the door at 07.30hrs, and they were good to go. No faffing around while the hot plate warmed up etc. I shall be returning soon, as this is a great find.

Nice little coffee shop that transforms into a bar in the evening. Went to watch the Eurovision final and the atmosphere was amazing! Nice friendly crowd, family and dog friendly! Enjoyed a few of their cocktails including the slightly ahead of its time ‘Zomb-Tea’ (I think that’s how they spell it)…they livened things up with some blow up musical instruments to add to the overall vibe of the evening. Every seemed to have a great time. Service was great (order at the bar, delivered to table). Recommended.

Popped in for a coffee last night - well, a Mocha and it didn't disappoint. It's under new management and so a nice fresh feel about it - relaxed atmosphere just what I needed after a full days' work - and was open at 8pm, which was also a great plus. Quite a few people popped in for coffee, so had a lovely feel to it.

Well priced, friendly staff, and free WiFi is always a bonus. The coffee is a bit weak and the portion size isn't massive but is substantial. Student discount is available. Most places undercook bacon leaving the rind white and chewwy, but not Hemmingways; the rind is brown and crisp! Every time I've been in here at varying times in the day service has been quick and I've managed to get elsewhere on time. The atmosphere has a modern touch; not too lively but can act as an escape from the hustle and bustle. There are board games readily available such as Scrabble and risk if this takes your fancy.

An appalling experience, and a revelation in how bad a lack of training can make an establishment a failure. Our drinks were taken to the wrong table, and one coffee was commandeered by a legal type, who clearly no longer understood the concept of telling the truth. When it became clear that the drinks were ours, I had to send the grubby fellow with the t-shirt/ hand-rag thing going on away to make more drinks, as the crockery had been well fondled by the legal eagle. I did tell him that this was a breach of etiquette, however I just don't think he was in the learning zone. The place stinks of state fat, and is expensive. The lack of direction is palpable.

Visited on 23/10/2017 It was our last breakfast together of this holiday and we thought we tried this coffee shop before catching a flight. We arrived at 7:28am and had to wait outside until 7:37am despite a young waitress seeing us. We were eventually let in and no one acknowledged us or spoke with us. We went to order our breakfast and asked for some fresh muffins, but were told there was only a per-packed muffin available and that was the fresh muffin... We ordered some danishes and were served some stale and old danishes instead. We found the service absolutely awful (we were served by a man with longish hair). There was no effort for trying to smile or be polite and it made us feel uncomfortable and could not wait to leave. Food quality is poor as well, but if the service wasn't so unfriendly, we wouldn't have minded as much. I feel this should be addressed by the owner as a matter of priority.

A really horrible 'coffee shop' which is infact a basic cafe. It stinks to high heaven of grease and burnt food. Has a limited menu for food and that in turn is poor, diced chicken, wafer thin ham and processed grated cheese are the highlights of their offerings. All in all this place is poor, a real relic of the early nineties but masquerading as a modern and lively coffee house. The staff are rude and have zero idea of hygiene, the man i ordered and paid with then (without washing his hands) made my sandwich and touched his face and hair whilst doing so. Absolutely zero idea of how wrong this is. I will never ever return and it's unfortunate i have to walk past most days.

The coffee is average and the wait was considerable. However, I was more perturbed by the appalling customer service. The white man with long hair is shockingly rude. After I had paid nearly 15 pounds for a round of coffee for colleagues he refused to split a ten pound note into to fives 'because it was against company policy'. He would only change the note if I purchased something else. He was objectionable and offensive. They also charge 75p for anything under £10, even when you pay be debit card. Take my advise and go across the road to Bean Cafe - everyone else in the know does!

I waited nearly 15 in a queue to order my black coffee to go, picked it up and it had milk in-seriously it's probably the easiest drink to make. I saw 3 staff behind the counter serving/taking orders and it was complete chaos. I saw one lady come back over to say her sausage on toast had come in the wrong bread. It might have just been a (very) bad day for them but I certainly won't be going back.

Called in on the way to a court case for a takeaway coffee, which was violently hot and almost tasteless. During the lunch break we went back for a quick lunch with other witnesses, and obviously we had limited time. There were four of us; two of us got our hot drinks right away; both the others had to wait some time for their similar drinks. During this wait, one recieved her cold sandwich, the other was offered someone else's lunch. The staff were asked a couple of times when the three hot paninis were coming and we were told they were on the grill. Again yet another member of staff checked our order (despite being told by his colleague that they were on their way) We told them twice that we were now very tight on time and they eventually arrived 35 minutes after ordering and with only 5 minutes to eat them, by this time the drinks had become very cold. Considering it was a place that serviced the Legal/business area you would expect prompt service, although the Panini was good, I only had time to eat half of it.

We visited midweek and the pub was very quiet. The pub itself was spacious, the beer fine and reasonably priced for a city centre location. If you are visiting England and looking for a traditional quaint English pub then this is not the place to visit. However, if you want a decent pint at a reasonable price in the city centre midweek, then this is an option for you

Fantastic night out at Gilmore girls quiz. What a great format for a quiz! Felt like halfway between quiz and club night! Lots of young people there but I’m in my 50s (with my 25 year old daughter) and still had an excellent night. Such good music I loved every single track s mix of old classics and new stuff. Dj/compare was brilliant and funny. Very professional set up with lots of door staff and staff so felt very safe and everyone really friendly. Food looked gorgeous and really good prizes too. Brilliantly organised and professional events company
