Traditional, relaxed, welcoming café in old Victorian station, just off the main road through Hellifield village. Perfect cup of tea and large selection of home-made cakes (took us ages to decide what to have!) served by friendly staff. Cooked meals smelled delicious, will try these next time. Lots of railway memorabilia to browse through in a separate area, if you are into that sort of thing.

Superb café in the station building at Hellifield. Excellent food, particularly recommend the lunchtime pies, meat and vegetarian options available but don’t leave it too late or they’ll have sold out! Friendly staff, very interesting railway memorabilia, a must for anyone interested in trains. Visiting on a day when steam excursions are running is very worthwhile, the locos stop at Hellifield for half-an-hour or more to take on water. The accommodation upstairs in the station building, The Yorkshire Sleeper, is also superb. During our week’s stay there in July we saw the Flying Scotsman, plus Scots Guardsman and Sierra Leone pulling The Dalesman excursions.

A great railway themed cafe and tea room, located in the Grade 1 listed station, serving a range of freshly cooked hots meals and delicious home made cakes. Great food at very reasonable prices with friendly staff. An additional attraction are the displays of railway memorabilia and publications many of which are for sale. Particularly interesting for anyone interested in the Settle & Carlisle line

My wife & visited last week, what a super cafe. If you want great food and a warm welcome with different surroundings this is the place for you. Enjoy your meal & watch the trains as they head to and from the Settle - Carlisle railway. Worth checking the web for a steam special but the station will get busy with train spotters when the engine stops to fill up with water.

Viva la difference!! If you want somewhere different to eat, drink and be transported back in time, this place is for you. We found it a year ago and have been at least once a month since. The railway memorabilia (some for sale) in the various rooms is so interesting - you'd pay to go into a museum to see the items they have. Brilliant for distancing during the p........ , lots of space in the dining area utilising the old waiting room. However, we wanted to take advantage of the blue sky and sunshine yesterday and had our food, drink on the platform - truly wonderful to be outside. Fantastic full English breakfast using local produce - washed down with a cafetiere of decaf ground coffee. The ladies serving on are a pleasure, they are always so friendly and helpful. That, coupled with superb Yorkshire value for money food, means it deserves 5 stars. As somebody has already said it's a little gem!

My wife and I visited today meeting up with a friend for lunch. Good menu, amazing value for money, nice surroundings and pleasant service. I had the breakfast, proper sausages and real bacon from a local butcher, with all the trimmings and a pile of toast. The two ladies had meat and potato pie with mushy peas and gravy, again proper locally sourced pies. Yorkshire tea of course. Being on the platform of Hellifield station there are a few trains going by including freighters, not to mention steam specials on certain days, a must for train anoraks! Recommended, we shall return!

We had read about their excellent breakfasts, and enjoyed a magnificent 'bacon and egg butty'; enough to satisfy any train enthusiast (or hungry wife!). We were lucky enough to eat just as one of the Rail excursion trains pulled in for water - Leander. Then the chalkboard was changed to say that Tornado would be coming through during the afternoon for the same purpose. We went off for a happy day in Settle market and environs, but returned to Hellifield in time for tea. Tornado glided into the Victorian Station sedately, as befits her status - giving ample opportunity for all photographers to capture her entrance on video or camera. I am not a railway enthusiast... but the atmosphere - after 16 months of Lockdown - was electric. It was a joy to be able to see people enjoying themselves. I heartily recommend the cafe and its wonderful staff - they stayed open longer than normal in order to serve the trainspotters... I honour all the volunteers who have supported Hellifield since 1977 - and long may they continue. ~~We will be back!

We'd long intended to visit Hellifield Station as we'd been recommended the cafe there and my husband had spent many a happy hour there transpotting as a lad. What a treat it was! The friendly staff served us with the best cup of Yorkshire tea and delicious cake. The setting on the station platform with lovely clean tables under the railway canopy added to the experience. The prices were very reasonable, such good value. And as if it couldn't get any better, a steam train pulled in at the station and stayed for quite a while. What a splendid experience!

After several recommendations, we decided to have breakfast at Shed24H. Plenty of free parking at the station's car park and the café is actually on the railway station itself. Tables are available in the café or on the platform. We were exceptionally lucky as a steam train pulled in whilst we were waiting for our breakfast prompting several train spotters to leave the café and take photos! It took a while to order breakfast and for it to arrive but this wasn't surprising as the place was so busy and it was worth the wait. Food was hot and very tasty, especially the black pudding. This breakfast would fill anyone who is hungry. Lots of toast and preserves accompanied the breakfast but I would have appreciated a side plate to have appreciated it fully. Extremely well priced, this café is certainly well worth a visit.

During a run out today (Sun.20th Sept.) we were feeling a bit peckish and decided to call at Shed24 at Hellefield Station. We have been calling there for a good number of years and have had a lot of breakfasts there. The last time we went a new family had just taken over and the first thing we saw was Benji the dog GREAT!! it's dog friendly at last which is a big plus for us as our dog is very well behaved anyway, I digress, so back to the review. We had The footplatemans breakfast absolutely gutted, there was no SPAM but to be fair the breakfast was superb (just kidding about the SPAM I didn't really miss it that much). The breakfast arrived in a timely manner and on hot plates (this is a must in my book) and was perfectly cooked along with tea and a rack of toast and jam and marmalade, how could anyone be dissappointed and a fiver apiece.Just for a comparison, a couple of weeks earlier we passed the end of the road and didn't stop as the Cafe A board wasn't there. Instead we detoured into Settle and went to The Naked Man Cafe where we had a Full English Breakfast. It was a very good breakfast, toast included but tea was extra, a lot extra. In fairness the breakfast was bigger with more bacon, hash browns and mushrooms but the cost was £23.40 for the two of us.Back to Shed24. Absolute bargain for an excellent breakfast with high quality ingredients, faultless. The Cafe is now a lot cleaner and brighter, as are the toilets and we came away impressed with the service from all the family and well fed to boot. Finally the setting is great and for Steam or any rail enthusiast a must visit place to go (and look at all the benefits). Not to forget a big thank you to all the Family including Benji for an excellent dining experience.

Friendly, enthusiastic, helpful welcome from the ladies behind the counter, who were just as happy to talk about passing trains as they were their excellent food and beverage offerings.Simple, but tasty menu of hot and cold items, plus nice choice of cakes. We both had the (all day) Fireman’s breakfast, which at £5 including a hot drink and two rounds of toast, was cheaper than making it at home. Very tasty too.Masses of free car parking, and small display area of railway memorabilia, some of which is also for sale.A fabulous, non pretentious, find; we’ll definitely be back.

Had lunch there today, well an "All Day Firemans Breakfast" actually. Never been a fan of Black Pudding so was offered extra bacon/sausage instead. Meal came, freshly cooked and piping hot, consisting of 3 rashers of bacon, 3 sausages, tomato, baked beans and a fried egg, 2 slices of toast with jam and marmalade and a cup of tea, all for £5. Plain and simple perhaps but great value and with excellent service.

After 12 weeks of shielding was good to get out for air, normally taking shots of the Station from overlooking fields, today was a rare visit to see how the Shed24H is coping under the coronavirus restrictions, I have to say I was admirably impressed.Gone are memories of previous tenants with a fresh feel, willing, caring, outwardly helpful and friendly attitude. On a rainy day when it was takeaway only (albeit in a few days will be open with full service) I had the pleasure of meeting the kind lady on the pre prepared takeaway table, and managed to be pointed in Gayle's direction.Gayle quickly obliged my interest in Shed24H and all its fascinating memorabilia, my last visit had been at Christmas when a community Carol sing a long was held there, which was when I had been made aware of the sheer historic beauty of this place.Hellifield's fine architecture is a listed building, but however beautiful the exterior is, made more gorgeous by the floral input from Gayle and Stuart, fresh flora and innovative planting of wild flowers, and beautiful planters. Opens out onto a immaculate platform. Its a family concern and it shows!Full of pride Gayle showed me around (2 metre distancing and with face coverings), it was a delight to experience whilst the station was not bustling with people, albeit there were tables around the platform being served their fare on a tray everything was done as cleanly and safely as is possible, with hand sanitiser (which I availed) at numerous places. The fare on offer was greatly appreciated by those engaging, and I myself enjoyed some of the fare on offer. I enjoyed my cuppa in a room with 2 tables, 2 metres apart, as the main large room is not yet currently in full use. But I am sure within days those breakfasts will be flying out of Stuart's kitchen, and devoured hungrily. All food is freshly prepared and of reasonable prices, good proportions and served with a smile. All the above and the next train was ON TIME! Perfection. If anyone is planning on visiting Hellifield, driving through, or using the station facilities you MUST try Shed24H.The station even has a Amazon point at the entrance of the tunnel to the station, with parking available, phone, seating, covered waiting area, and of course all the facilities of this truly memorable cafe.Visit soon you wont regret it.I actually caught Gayle assisting a workman carrying a door up the tunnel as I left, horror of horrors, she just burst into laughter. My kind of Cafe, my kind of gal!

The cafe is under new management after the previous occupant retired recently (September 2019) and the new team are in the process of decorating and renovating the cafe. If you visit in the next couple of weeks or so you might have to bear with them during this "transition period" and only a basic menu may be available but after the renovation has taken place a more extensive menu will be available. They are keen to encourage walkers, tourists and train enthusiasts to use the cafe so if you're in the area don't hesitate to pop in for a brew or bite to eat!UPDATE!! The new owners have bedded in nicely and the place is now up and running properly. It gets busy when a steam special is visiting, but only because the place is so good!! The staff cope really well at busy times, as it's a family "all hands on deck" organisation. I'm sure Benji the station dog would take your order if he could, but he's usually laid behind the counter waiting for passing visitors to offer an ear tickle or paw shake, which he gladly accepts. Anyone who loves steam trains and railway nostalgia REALLY NEEDS to visit this place. You won't be disappointed!!

The cafe is now under new management since the last proprietor retired in September 2019. I got a very warm & friendly welcome from the new proprietor, she serves drinks, sandwiches & cakes which are very good. Her freshly bakes rock buns are superb, she showed the recipe book next the the plate. Renovations to the kitchen were in progress and she said a more comprehensive menu will be available when they are finished. At the moment the cafe is open every day until about 4.00pm apart from Mondays. The cafe building houses the only toilet on the station so there is no toilet available when the cafe is closed and there is no public toilet in Hellifield. The cafe is an excellent place to see steam train specials travelling on the Settle to Carlisle railway, they stop to take on water here.

Recently had a brilliant stay at Crina Bottom B&B at the foot of Ingleborough (one of the 3 peaks). It is entirely off-grid but the owners have done a terrific job in making the property comfortable, clean and very attractive. The bedrooms have been furbished to a high standard and you are guaranteed a sound sleep. The en-suites are large and are like those found in a good 5 star hotel. The chef produces great breakfasts which are substantial enough to set you up for the day ahead. I would thoroughly recommend this superb B&B
