Very much the poorest fish & chips I've had in a very long time. I've certainly never had worse. There was more batter than fish by volume if not by weight, and the fish was not fresh. It was also dripping with oil/grease. The chips weren't so bad, though also greasy, and there was plenty of them. Maybe by swamping me with chips, they were hoping I wouldn't notice how bad the fish was. But potatoes aren't the main, they are supposed to be the side. I was genuinely shocked by their cheek at serving up such rubbish for 12.90 - large cod and chips - Was it really, I couldn't tell for sure what fish it was, it was almost fossilised, and probably a small one bigged up with batter to try and make it look the business. Buyer beware!!!

Had fish and chips this week because our kitchen is being rebuilt. Rubbish and not that cheap either. Suspect the fish had been recooked as it was tough as old boots. IF we go again we shall make sure the fish is cooked from fresh and NOT refried

Classic chippy. Went in late and they still served us as the last customers. Scoffed the chips in the car as was starving from a long day. Delicious fish. They cook in sunflower oil I believe. Pineapple burger looked intriguing.

We popped in here one lunchtime when we were passing through - I am not a chip person, they are at the bottom of the list of potato dishes for me, but my husband loves them, so in we popped. These were the best chips I have ever eaten - they were mouth burningly hot, fluffy and quite frankly delicious - I did say I was not a chip fan? And the curry sauce is amazing too - You can actually taste the coriander seed in the sauce. We went in last night and ordered two large cod, a portion of chips and curry sauce which we ate in the car outside. The fish was ENORMOUS - so much so that we couldn't manage the chips. This is how it should be done -10 out of 10 - highly recommended. I am sure we will be in when we are next passing though

Excellent fish and chips The portions are huge. They give you far too many chips for a small portion we buy a large cod and a small chips and share. Wish they did a smaller portion of chips it is such a waste for people who cannot eat huge portions. I even tell them to stop piling on the chips. Always friendly and cheery

Really liked this chippy I live in London and was seeing family in the area so I had to make a comparison it would have been rude not too. Firstly the staff are very friendly which always makes thing better. Then there is the quality of the batter on the fish we ordered and let me tell you all my local chippys don't even come close and it took me back to my childhood it was lovely and then there was the chips which were nice but lacked a little crispness that I love (I've got to be fair) but you do get a large portion for your money. And to top it off phone your order through to save time perfect.

Great Chicken Gyros, however spending £7 on a “Boneless Combo” meal only to see the abysmal chicken portion size was very disappointing. Everything shoved into a small chip container. Definitely not impressed.

Staff are very polite and food served exeptentully fast great value for money aswell ask for small chips get more than enough for a big meal. Car parking is limited but can park at Alexandra road sometimes. Maybe seats could be better but not waiting for long so it's ok anyway.

Someone please tell me at 1.30pm how they can provide grotty chips. Maybe because they were left over from the night before. Looks nice inside but come on guys..... fresh chips should be as standard.

Fish was really really fresh and tasty both cod and plaice and the chips. Only thing that really let it down on this occasion is they didn't let the fish drain out of the fryer, so fish was very very oily. Have had food from here before and the quality has always been good.

I don't live round the area but work down the road and thought I would give the local chip shop ago and I must say it was very nice the chips where perfect and the battered sasuage was nice. The curry sauce on the other hand was amazing, probs the best I have ever had.

What can I say, this place has the most welcoming staff I have ever met! Always very kind and happy to please there customers! I don't eat fish myself, but there is always plenty of alternatives! The chip are amazing, portion sizes are very generous and all at a very good price. I would recommend this place to anyone :)

A couple years ago, this place provided excellent food. Now? I was genuinely appalled at how the standards have slipped over the past 18months, tonight was a new low. Soggy undercooked chips, dripping in just as much old-tasting fat as the bland, poor-battered fish, despite the half inch of paper wrapping desperately trying to drain away the excess. Last time I went here to pick up fish and chips for three (and none of us really touch chips!), it came to a reasonable ~£13-14. This time my father picked it up and he barely got change from £20, despite exactly the same quantity as last time. My parents are the ones who are semi-regular and with my encouragement they will now be looking elsewhere for their occasional takeaway.

Chips cooked to perfection, vegetarian options and friendly staff, and very reasonably priced. What more could you want?
