Hebridean Jewellery Cafe in Eilean Siar

I did not like this cafe. The coffee and treats were lovely. The staff were super friendly, happy to chat. What it meant was that there more time spent in the outlet which meant it cost a lot more than coffee and cake by the time we left. I'm sure the jewellery will look lovely when worn, I bought a calendar (not quite equitable...). Oh, make sure you book ahead if coming round lunch time, it's very popular.

We visited the cafe on our recent trip. The sandwiches, cake and tea were delicious and the staff are lovely. Book in advance as seating is limited.

Stopped in for a bite to eat at Hebridean Jewellery and to do a bit of window shopping. They were very busy but managed to squeeze us in before a booked table arrived. Very helpful staff in bothe the shop and cafe. Usual high standard of food and service. Hopefully not our last visit this year before we return home from our Holiday.

Really came across this lovely cafe by accident - went to see the jewellery! The coffee we had the first afternoon was excellent as was the ‘toastie’ sandwich. We had struggled to find a good cup of coffee on the islands so we’re totally impressed.We enjoyed the coffee and sandwich so much we returned the next day to try the cakes!

We managed to get a table witout booking ... Had coffee and cake which was very good. Sadly the cafe and shop closed due to Covid so we were unable to go another day for lunch.

Great little shop and cafe, with gluten free options! Billy was great for recommending us things to do in South Uist and very friendly.

We popped in to buy some gifts for family and friends, I’m glad we did! Great selection of arts and crafts. When we were paying for our goods, we got talking to the assistant who was checking us out! A joy, his enthusiasm for the area he lives in and that you as a visitor should see as much of it as you can was infectious! We later found out his name from a local, I will not put it out there on Trip Advisor but thank you BMP, you’ll know who you are!We then visited all bar one of the places he recommended!Please visit if you are in the area, it’s worth it just to meet BMP if he is working!! Thanks againWe did not use the cafe but only because we had not booked and it was nearing lunchtime! Pity the cakes and scones looked superb!

Delicious toasties for lunch in a very busy cafe attached to the Hebridean Jewellery shop. Once again staff were very pleasant and helpful in buying jewellery.

Good soup and lovely jewellery in a very pretty location. It was a very nice stop. The jewellery was beautiful and there was something in every price range. The cafe was busy and bustling with visitors and local people and the soup was delicious.

local smoked salmon in a bagel and cheese & ham panini were both served with coleslaw, side salad and crisps. Tasty, filling fare and lovey friendly staff.

Having read a previous review, thought I'd see if they could repair an engagement ring that had been broken for 30 years.I wasn't disappointed, we left it with them about 11am and called back at 3.30,it was all done - a perfect job.It looked amazing, couldn't believe it was the same ring.Pleasantly surprised at how little this repair cost.This gave us the chance to go for coffee & cake twice on the same dayShop and cafe staff couldn't have been nicer.This is a must place to go.

We had been biking for what seemed like forever, when we came across the sign leading to Hebridean Jewellery Cafe. Very nice spot, good coffee and sandwiches. Nice jewellery too.

Beautiful location worth the slight detour of the main road. Have often eaten here food and service are always excellent and you have the advantage of the gift shop

Homestyle sandwich fare with espresso machine. Thoughtfully prepared food. Note: Most sandwich fillings come with mayonnaise already blended in, best to speak up if you’d rather not have mayo in your salmon sandwich.

Husband and I took a short detour off the Hebridean cycle route to visit this cafe. Glad we did, the soup was delicious and the cakes yummy. Well worth a visit.

Toasted sandwich/panini/soup/cake. Nothing fancy. Clean and tidy. Very friendly. As there is hardly anywhere else to eat lunch at this end of South Uist, and it was a nice day, it was packed. Well done to all the staff for keeping their cool!

We had a stop over here for a drink and a look at the jewellery shop. Very nice cafe, good service and while the drinks were arriving we had a look at the jewellery.

This is a pleasant cafe with good food and good service. I had a nice warming soup for lunch with plenty of wholemeal bread to accompany it. The gorgeous jewellery is well worth browsing through.

Stopped by to get the wife some Hebridean jewellery so this little cafe was a bonus. Lovely friendly staff and really tasty home made food. Just plain great.

Afternoon tea and large helpings of succulent cake that couldn't be faulted. Friendly staff and clientele. Sat outside on the small terrace as unfortunately the place isn't dog friendly.

We had a short visit to the jewellery shop and cafe. The coffee and cake were excellent and the service quick and efficient - there was a lovely view from the cafe and there is a customer toilet - recommended

It takes a bit of work to find this gem but it is worth it.We enjoyed browsing through the jewellery and the food and service were first class. What's not to like?

Called in here on our way north to Lochmaddy. Very busy and were turning some folk away whilst we were there. Lots of holiday makers as well as a few local "mums" gathered there for lunch. Quality of food was good, we had toasties as they had run out of the soup (this was early afternoon). Parking available.

We came for lunch and had the salmon and oatcakes and a toastie.

Have been here previously and the café is still as good as ever .All home made great staff and great place beside the shoreline .Everyone here is so eager to help Many locals eat here as well and it is always busy ..that tells you all you need to know !!

We stopped here for lunch one day. Lots of choices for vegetarians and great coffee. There’s also a gift shop there that sells local jewellery. Well worth a visit.

Crikey, we spent a good bit of time here and visited more than once. The jewellery range is huge and I saw several things that i would have like to come home with but stuck to buying a wedding ring (which was resized for me). So a few gifts for family and a return visit for cake and hot chocolate.....and a warm friendly face and helpful staff. Thank you.

Made extra special by having a goldsmiths' workshop on site, the jewellery reflects creative design and craftsmanship with Celtic and Viking influence. The service felt very personal. Lovely and friendly tea shop and gift shop were included - all the more unusual that it is set on the outskirts of a very small village just before the causeway crossing between South and North Uist.

A must see! The jewellery is absolutely beautiful and unique. The coffee shop is a delightful spot for coffee and cake.

We had worked up an appetite after a long walk on the beach and, as tourists, did the touristy thing and went to the cafe. We enjoyed home made soup, a cheese, ham and pineapple panini and two lattes.

I stopped here for lunch after visiting the jewellery shop though many customers were just coming for the Cafe. Like most attractions in out of the way places in the Western Isles there is a Cafe attached. I had a very tasty bagel with salmon filling freshly made to order. Friendly staff

I was with a group of 6 friends who decided to visit this jewellery shop. The cafe was a real find too. What a lovely lunch. The fruit cake was amazing and the coffee was great too.

We visited the cafe a few times with our children and alone. Each time the staff were really welcoming and hep as well as understanding about the mess our children made!

The cafe is good, serving the sorts of sandwiches and cakes you'd expect but it's the staff that make it great. We had a panini and a coffee each which we unremarkable but the service was lovely. We got chatting to a gentleman (perhaps late 40s?) in the shop about places to go for a nice walk and he took the time to advise some amazing places that really made our time on south uist special. I hope he sees this to know how much we appreciate it and enjoyed his recommendations

Great food and service that is hard to beat. Typical Uisteach hospitality. It's a pleasure to visit this wee cafe and the shop is a bonus. Lovely jewellery and a nice collection of candles, books, music and gifts. I always leave with my purse lighter and a smile on my face.

A lovely little cafe, perfect for a quick stop. Good cakes and coffee, along with a good selection of toasties, sandwiches and paninis. Also spend some time looking around the jewellery shop next door to the cafe.

Its nice to browse the shop then sit and have a light lunch in the cafe, the selection of food was lovely and the staff friendly.

Set opposite a long sandy beach and with an interesting gift shop attached this cafe gives a lovely relaxed setting for a post walk cup of tea and cake. Good choice of home baking and friendly staff.

The shop is lovely, and the cafe is a great addition to the shopping experience. Excellent ambiance and selection of cakes and sweets.

What do you expect more? The coffee (Espresso) was excellent, the service friendly and the toilets were clean. However, the Cafe is not the reason to visit this place, it's the Jewellery which is worth visiting. The pieces sold here are quite expensive, but they are localy made and of very good handcraft. If you buy a silver ring and the correct size is not available, small adoptions of the size can be made within minutes, so that the ring fits perfectly to your finger. Polished, stainfree, without any sharp edges.

It was a beautiful Wednesday afternoon when we called in here for tea and cake. The car park was full so we had to park on the road. Inside both the shop and cafe was very busy but we managed to get a seat. We ordered a Cherry Scone and a slice of Coconut & Jam cake and teas. We weren’t waiting long before they we brought to our table. Both the scone and cake were delicious, nice and fresh even though they were about to close at 4.15pm. Excellent friendly service, good WiFi and very reasonable prices.

I arrived with a friend for lunch. The menu was fresh and local. My tea was forgotten but I reminded them and it was brought promptly. The food was tasty. A very lovely lunch stop.

We arrived just before they closed and the ladies who were working there were very kind to us and even recommended somewhere for us to eat that evening. Despite having had a busy day and trying to"get ahead" for the next day, they were very happy to serve us - I had a lovely hot chocolate and piece of their lemon drizzle cake which was lovely and moist.

We stopped here for coffee. It’s 1 1/2 miles off the main road and we were wondering whether we had taken a wrong turning. However coffee was fine with home baking.

Stopped off to kill time while my friend went for a long walk on the beach and was very pleasantly surprised. Coffee and home made cakes were excellent, served by friendly staff ; we had an impromptu singalong! I take severe issue with another review accusing the jewellery shop of being a highly priced tourist trap. I wasn't in the market for any jewellery myself but the wares on sale were beautiful handcrafted items made in the adjoining workshop, and very reasonable indeed for the work involved in creating them. Any one of them would make a wonderful and memorable purchase for someone who wanted a lifelong treasure. They do also sell small tourist gifts like nice soaps and trinkets.

Visited here for snack food, cake and coffees. Service was excellent and staff were friendly and efficient. Place was spotless. Displays of jewellery were eye catching and well worthy of time spent browsing. Food was reasonably priced

A nice café attached to a jewellery workshop and shop. Tea, herbal tea and coffee - and best of all there are wonderful home-made cakes at all times of the day, and delicious lunches on offer too. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The seating is a bit hard. But overall, there are not many eating places in the vicinity and it's well worth a visit.

Went here twice on our time on South Uist and managed to come out without needing a loan for some jewellery! Loved the coffee and cakes that much we drove back 15 miles to sample them again. A lovely friendly set of ladies.

Fine coffee cakes a bit dry staff in the shop was a bit off you would think that visitors would be there bread and butter , we went twice and both time the local post person and lady in canteen was better spoken to than...

Went here in desperation, hiding from some really bad trip spoiling weather.The jewellery didn't really catch my attention as it falls under the usual highly priced tourist trap category. the cafe on the other hand was a joy full of an amazing choice of home...

There aren't a lot of cafes in South uist but you won't be let down by this one. Great coffee...

Good soups, beautiful cakes, fresh coffee and happy friendly staff. A real delight to lunch here. My Mum who is very fussy and disabled is always well catered for and nothing is too much for the staff. Well worth a visit.

We spent a very pleasant hour or so here with the family enjoying the tasty delights and coffee. We all bought something to take home as the work on display was of a very high quality and reasonably priced.

This is a must visit place. Wonderful views onto the the Beach and Machair. They have a nice selection of coffees and food. More importantly is the Jewellery side with some of the finest hand crafted jewellery you will get anywhere. Our favourite was the Mo Ghaol Ort rings. (My love on you) Friendly staff and make sure you don't miss this lovely place.

We called in for tea and cake. Sadly neither member of staff could manage to smile, or engage with us at all other than take our money. The tea and cake were fine, but I can't really recommend you visit! A pity. Maybe we caught them on a bad day.

Called in on a dreary, drizzly, windswept morning. Even through the manky weather the views across to Benbecula were spectacular.I love Jewellery (but don't usually wear anything more than a watch and plain stud earrings) so had a happy time browsing through the gorgeous rings, necklaces, broaches and earrings on offer. I didn't buy anything for me but did find some stocking filler items for Christmas.Then it was time to explore the cafe and indulge in a mid-morning wedge of delicious home-made cake with a pot of tea. I can thoroughly recommend the salted-caramel cake, the lady behind the counter said she was having problems resisting it and after having a slice I can understand her problem. If I had stayed any longer I would have had to have a second slice!There are more items for sale in the cafe and I topped up the stocking fillers with some lovely blank greetings cards that feature the work of local artists. the workshop and cafe are tucked away off the main road but are well worth the short detour for a visit.

My family came here on two occasions during our stay as there was little or few places to have food on the island.Plenty variety of gifts to buy from their gift shop and a cafe area where you can have a coffee & cake or light lunch to sit in.Definitely recommend.

Had a wide range of excellent gold and silver jewellery but also had a super cafe offering snacks and very tasty home baking with spectacular views over the south ford. A good place to go for lunch.

Stopped in here for a quick lunch after arrived in Benbecula. The setting is superb and the shop very interesting. Cafe food was good quality with a nice choice of lunch items. Delicious looking cakes but my panini was too filling to allow me to try one. I did mean to return but time didn't allow this. Would have loved some cake and to look more at the shop. Next time...

Having arrived via Glasgow and having been up since 4am a much needed early lunch was high on the agenda. We were not disappointed. The individually prepared dishes were very appetising and presented beautifully.

This is a must visit with gorgeous unique jewellery pieces, friendly people and a lovely coffee shop with delicious cakes!!

This place is well worth finding - very good coffee and cake. The lady serving was very welcoming. The jewellery shop is very tempting and there are cards etc displayed in the cafe to get you in the browsing mood - it worked!This is maybe just me but the decorative arrow on the road sign is confusing and we almost missed the turn. Glad we didn't though.
