Bridge Centre Cafe, in Eilean Siar

We were both off for the day and got soaked walking the dogs, couple of chicken wraps and coffee later we were sorted, fast friendly service, loads of parking.

Don’t walk past and ignore this cafe , we came as it was dog friendly . The young lady that served us was very good at her job. The menu is diverse but I think all freshly cooked with an emphasis on Asian food. My husband had special fried rice and I had Malaysian noodles which were amazing. Local families were there, probably for the value for money and tasty food. If we came to Stornaway again we would definitely call back.

We stopped here whilst travelling the island to do our laundry. Well, the coffee is some of the best we have tasted on the island. Whilst you may just think it’s not a branded coffee shop and looks like you should walk past…. DON’T We grabbed lunch whilst here as we waited for the washing to finish….. again a great range of food! If you like authentic Chinese / Thai then this is a place to stop and eat. Very clean, dog friendly.

Had a very good lunch taste excellent, generous servings and good staff. We had planned ordering take out as we had our dog with us, staff saw this and offered to set up a table outside for us. Food clearly cooked fresh to order.

Would be good if it wasn't for the obnoxious attitude of the two caretakers of the bridge centre. I have never before encountered such hateful and incompetent women as these two. Yes Pauline I'm referring to you and your neurotic colleague.

Really taste, cheap food. Quick service. We had an iced latte, Hawaii fried rice, prawn fried macaroni, and a can of Coke for £16 (cash only but atm nearby at the petrol station). The food had loads of vegetables in and tasted really nice. There’s toilets just outside, and there’s a public laundry facility next to it.

One of our favourite cafes, the food is always yummy with good sized portions. It’s also very family friendly

Great food, freshly cooked to order. Excellent value for money with friendly staff. whilst it looks basic as you enter, the Thai/Chinese food is very good. Good if you are getting the ferry, you check in early and leave your car at the ferry terminal, and it is only 5 minutes walk away to get here for a meal.

I took my lunch and my dinner in this atypical restaurant, with one of the best value for money I've ever seen. The menu is very diverse and the dishes taste really good. I ate really good pad thaï for less than £5. I totally recommend this place.

Went to the cafe after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. The cafe is attached to a community centre and does very reasonably priced Thai food, as well as other options. Had a lovely pad Thai with a cappuccino on the side!

Three of us had a late breakfast here. Big meal, which included two slices of toast, and pots of tea that poured into the cup rather than ending up on the table. We all left clear plates - enough said. Would love to try the Asian food, as if it's as good as the breakfast it would be great.

Lovely food, good size portions and so reasonable. It’s great for families and really good location for the Castle Grounds. Much better than eating at the castle. Love it!

Very tasty vegetarian Malaysian style noodles with lots of fresh veg and good portion. Friendly, efficient service! Good that it serves when most other places have closed between lunch and dinner.

I went there for lunch with my daughter, she ordered spaghetti bolognaise and I ordered the spicy basil chicken. My plate came at least 15 minutes before my daughter's food and we were both so hungry that she shared mine so we could both eat and then when her's came we both shared that. Not good service at all and just a quick apology for the delay but not exactly heartfelt. I commented to my daughter that it will be a long time before I take her there again for her lunch, we'd be better going to Eleven, at least we can get our food there the same time. It's a shame as the food is good but definately a repeated issue of food coming at different times.

You can't go wrong here. It's cheap, clean, modern and very friendly and you can barter depending on the time of year. Don't be frightened to do so. Joey.

Went to the Bridge Centre Cafe with my wife Shona and our friends Margaret O'Brian and Lorna and Christine Murray. Food was excellent Thai cuisine reasonably priced and served in good portions. We had good service and a lovely meal out

I was lucky to find this little cafe and have since visited it several times. Very friendly service! I asked for a vegan option and it was no trouble at all!! Very yummy dinner and great serving size!

We visited here for lunch today for the 2nd time this trip.

We visit Stornoway several times a year and always come here for lunch. We had friends staying with us this time and they were looking forward to lunch as we always rave about the fabulous food. The food and service were as fantastic as always but lunch was spoilt by a very badly behaved child who seemed to be related to the staff. Our friends commented on the child's very bad behaviour and although they loved the food decided not to revisit the cafe again. We used to love going here but not sure we will be back.

there is n excellent choice o. the menu. there are toys for younger children,free wifi, it is a great service and the staff are very good

Really unlikely place to eat in what appears to be a community/student building but don't let the look of it put you off. The menu covers a range of international options and the usual café sandwiches and cakes. The Thai selection was really good - large portions and great value. Don't leave it until the end of your visit as its somewhere you'll probably return to.

Found the Bridge cafe and used it quite a few times during our weeks holiday. Good portions good price and used by the locals so that says it all really.

The Thai food here we found was excellent, very tasty, fresh cooked and excellent value. The place may look a bit unusual but stick with it, it is actually a hidden gem and well worth a visit - wish we had found it sooner.

Fuimos a probar el sitio por sus buenas valoraciones y salimos encantados. Los precios son muy económicos, los batidos y las tartas lo mejor! En especial la tarta Millionaire shortbread...es increible. El sitio por dentro no es muy bonito, ya que es un comedor de un colegio, pero la relación calidad precio es insuperable.

This place has such a wide range of food choices from Thai food to simple, no fuss food for fussy eaters like myself! ive never had a bad time while eating here. Something i love about this place is how affordable it is, and they give a proper portion size, you wont leave hungry!

Not many options in Stornoway and this one is quite tucked away. Its a gem. We had phad Thai prawn, and green curry. Both excellent and enormous. And served pronto with a smile. We went another day for more of the same. Great selection of teas too. And much much cheapness.

The plastic tablecloths make it look a bit more canteen than canton. However in all fairness the cafe is clean,quite comfortable, with an extensive menu, the cooking is good,waiting times reasonable, staff are pleasant, prices are about average. You get what you pay for.

Great Thai lunch, very reasonably priced. However miserable young female taking our order and terrible attitude when requesting the rest of our order as it had been forgotten. Food served very promptly and was very good but male server was equally miserable.

Makes a change from the usual takeaways on the island, with such a varied menu. My family were able to order some Thai dishes while I stuck to burger and chips. All meals were reasonably priced as well.

Well if you know Stornoway, it's no fun taking the dogs out to the Castle Grounds when the rain is horizontal, well not this time as once the dogs were in the car a "you fancy a coffee" was uttered closest place was right by the bridge we just crossed, coffee was after a cracking lunch from a well stocked menu, glass wall it may have but it's in a hidden courtyard, well worth a visit

If you're short on time, then you can have a quick meal here. Extensive menu choices; burgers, Thai, pizza, wraps etc. They offer a take-away service too. It's cheap and cheerful and provides tasty food at reasonable prices. Don't go looking for a wonderful ambience, there could be young children about enjoying themselves playing in the toy corner. It's good to have somewhere where all the family can go to.

Friendly staff, great value and a good varied menu. Cheap and cheerful, would definitely recommend. Limited parking also available.

Comí aquí regularmente y no tengo ninguna queja sobre la calidad de la comida. Es bueno poder sentarse mientras espera su comida para llevar como en algunos otros lugares no tienen este espacio. Hay una buena selección de comida, pizzas y platos de pasta, pescado y patatas fritas, etc. tradicional y un montón de comida de estilo tailandés.

La comida está bien, pero es como comer en una cantina. No hay atmósfera y su gestión un poco amateurishly. Los precios son buenos, pero es muy básico. Sin embargo, la comida es realmente muy bien, así que vale la pena un vistazo si buscas un aperitivo rápido y sin adornos.

They do takeaway and sit in. Place was nice and clean and the price was reasonable. No parking if you want to go there during the day though.

great place to go and eat or for take away and taking a young family in with you as they have plenty to keep them occupied

Hemos visitado el café muchas veces y siempre disfrutar de la comida. Almorzamos hoy y el nivel de su era tan buena como siempre. Langostinos crujientes chili tenía la que eran fabulosos, bastante picante, pero no demasiado caliente. Tenemos ganas de probar otros elementos en el menú pronto.

Ofrecen una selección de comidas bastante estándar hamburguesa, comida frita y sándwiches. La calidad es aceptable, pero nada especial. Y un poco como un bar burger, limpiar mesa de fundas de plástico y los asientos parecen diseñadas para conseguir que entres en vez de vagar....

Cafetería muy práctico y accesible, especialmente si se aloja en el centro de puente, que es autoservicio.

Have been here a couple of times before. The food is fantastic, full of flavour and at a reasonable price. The variety of dishes accommodates all taste buds and make sure your hungry before you go, the portion sizes are big especially the wraps.Staff are very friendly and helpful.

serve tea and coffee along with cakes but the best s the hot chocolate, piping hot cream and toppings it's up to you. it gets busy.

Beautiful, tasty fresh food at very reasonable prices. Friendly staff. A great place for families with babies and young children too. There is a play area. There are some unusual drinks and fresh fruit shakes. This may sound strange but the Stir Fried Macaroni is delicious (not British style or mac & cheese as we know it). And if you like your food hot and spicy just ask. I'll be back!

Have been here before, for sit in ans takeaways. The people are lovely, the food is great, its not expensive and is quick.

We found this cafe through trip advisor and a local recommendation. The cafe was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly, helpful and unpretentious. The food was excellent- tasty and fresh. The owners are Thai and offer a menu from Asia and Europe. The portion size was generous. In my opinion , this was the best meal that I had during two weeks in Stornaway. Definite recommendation and I am looking forward to a return visit.

We visited here again during our recent visit .....It was once again very very good...we had a mate with us who loved thai food he was very impressed good value here as well.Worth a visit......don't expect silver service but don't worry about the food quality or cost!!

I love this takeaway,it's clean and best in town. It's also the cheapest. Always excellent food,delicious tasting,cooked to order. I've spent 18 months in hospital and I've had a takeaway from here every Saturday night. Either number 11 or number 14 with chicken. I always enjoy it. I've recommended it to all my friends. A lot of local people don't know it exists so I think you should advertise more. This cafe/takeaway provides a brilliant service. Thank you. From Margaret O'Brien xx

unfortunately went for a coffee and bacon roll to take out - unoftunately the bacon was deep fried in a chip vat of fat - how revolting - told them to bin it straight away - still got charged for the privilege of getting presented with such disgusting and unappetising food.

In between a cafe and a Chinese what ever! Good for parking while visiting town! Apart from that nothing attracts!

This place is the best café in alloa for me but last week when I placed an order in over the counter to whoever served me with the ridiculous bun/ make up, needs to learn how to speak to customers as I listen in to her telling a man the place was closed when it was only half six? on a Friday.. I guess she new but the guy left in anger

Great little cafe offering a good choice of food. The Thai Curry and prawn noodles were really delicious and the food was freshly prepared and excellent value for money. Definitely worth visiting, we'll be back.

Hidden jewel of a place. Went there yesterday with my mother and three young children. Great for kids and lots of toys and an area to play with them. Menu was great and lots to choose from. Portions were really ample and really really tasty. Fed all 5 of us for under £20. Staff friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back before we leave as the kids loved it.

We visited here today for lunch.Very good value all food freshly made.If you want authentic Thai food this is the place to come Lunch for two was just over £14.We will visit again when we are back on the island.

Good food at a very reasonable price. Service was cheerful and quick and the added bonus of free wi-fi was really appreciated. Near to town and the collage where i am taking a course and I,m told it a real favourite with the students

The cafe is advertising its opening hours as being 8 am till 8 pm. Upon arriving at 7.10pm, we were told that no food is served after 7 pm. What's the point in advertising that you're open until 8, if you can't get food after 7? Furthermore, the staff were not in the least interested in offering any kind of assistance or service worthy of the description, and appeared to be more anxious to clear the venue of customers before the clock did strike eight. Avoid.

Affordable and authentic oriental food that was quickly served (and quickly eaten) - we did not miss much of the music on offer in the Castle grounds. Although there are food concessions on site they are limited (but the pizza is excellent) so the Bridge makes a welcome augmentation, I will probably use it if I am in Stornoway at other times.

We have tried a number of dishes from the Cafe and they have all tasty, they have never let us down.Fresh vegetables in everything, a lot healthier than other takeaways and a good selection of meals.

Cheap and cheerful! The food is very good and great prices, plenty of room and the added bonus of wifi make it a great place to grab a cuppa or a bite to eat.

The food in the Bridge Centre Cafe is excellent and reasonably priced. We went in for a late afternoon meal and paid £13 for two main meals that were very tasty. Other half had the Thai Green curry and I had a spiced beef dish; we both really enjoyed our food. We'll be back again!

Great value for money. The portions are large and I can't fault them. Whether sitting in or taking away, everything is always fresh and tasty.

What a find this place is! A friend took me for lunch and I hadn't heard of this place before. I visited again and to be honest, this would be in my Top 2 places to go for lunch in Stornoway! Delicious, fresh and high quality food at reasonable prices. The size of the venue is great - not too small or too big and there is a play area for children. A place for lunch for everyone to go - old, young, families, friends, couples or alone just for a coffee. They have a very extensive menu. The only problem I had was deciding what to have! I will be back and certainly recommending the venue to anyone who hasn't been yet!

Visited the cafe three times during our visit to Stornoway. Thai Green Curry and Prawn Pad Thai were fantastic and great value for money. Food all freshly prepared and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Lewis. If anyone is looking for quality food at a great price this place cannot be beaten. Give it a try.

I was reading all the review for value for money and I am a local person and I certainly don't recognise the VAUE FOR MONEY I was in the laundrette and my grandkids wanted something to eat - I had a bacon roll - despite having previously had a bacon roll with mouldy roll which was £2.00, my grandson had a banana muffin for £1.00 (50p at husbands take away further out the road). the crunch was my grand daughter wanted one slice of DRY toast the total bill was £5.00making one slice of toast £2.00 could easily have bought 2 loaves in Tesco for that - I refused to pay for it and eventually got the toast for £1.00 - good value for money - I don't think so. Ifrequently used to have a full breakfast but the last one with sour food was the final straw.

We have yet again come to visit Lewis. We had heard of this place and visited today for lunch and were not disappointed, Dont be put off by the location great food friendly staff and very good service.Lunch for 2 at £11 fantastic value...we will be back.

We enjoyed a pleasant meal here after choosing it on the basis of other Trip Advisor reviews. We would agree with those other reviews - our meals were well-prepared using fresh ingredients and were tasty and great value. Staff were friendly and efficient, and the surroundings were standard cafeteria-type but clean and bright. Portion sizes were more than ample.If you want a good basic meal, from a menu with plenty of choices, and at great prices, we can recommend the bridge centre cafe. It can be a bit tricky to find but it is inside the courtyard of the Bridge Centre, which is located near the Co-op but on the opposite side of the main road.

This really is a hidden gem in Stornoway. It is hidden away in a housing complex with just a blackboard on the road to attract your attention. It is quite industrial with tables and brightly coloured table cloths. I enjoyed the King Prawn Pad Thai to take away which was priced at an incredibly cheap £4.95 - plenty of prawns, noodles, julienne of carrots and spring onions in a sticky sauce with a side of chopped peanuts - too much for one person. They do breakfasts, lunch and snacks throughout the day. It seems to be run by the Thai community - very good customer service. I would highly recommend trying it if you are visiting Stornoway.

We popped in here as it was the only place to get a cooked breakfast early. Arrived at 8 as the staff were arriving to open up. They sorted out 8 of us very quickly with a full fry up. Excellent food and lovely staff. Looks a bit like a community centre and is in the middle of low cost student flats, but don't be put off, food is great. Perfect for the hungry traveller.

I have eaten here on numerous occasions and never been disappointed. Every order is freshly made, I have also tried various dishes and always really enjoyed. I take my visitors here and everyone has enjoyed their meal and the excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Suitable for disabled, clean and handy for the town.

A student oriented restaurant near Lewes Castle College with a variety of items including hamburgers,wraps and Thai dishes. I had the spicy beef salad, one of my favorites, and it was as good as any I have eaten. on another trip had an excellent tom yum soup. Reasonable, clean and staff is very helpful and interested in customers.

We came to find a coin operated laundromat and popped next door for a snack. We had stir fry spicy chicken and stir fry spicy beef with basil for £4.50 each. Food was delicious, fast and served with a smile.

Called in to just get a bite to eat but after looking at the menu and the prices decided to go for a full meal. The Cafe is primarily for students but the peope there ranged from very young to retired. We had Thai Spicy Chicken & Beef with boiled rice and it was great, freshly cooked, and the quantities were a good feed after a day of sight seeing. Staff were very friendly and happy. If you are in Stornoway and looking for a good cheap feed you can't go past this Cafe and the parking around there is easier to find then other places in the town. The menu covers more then Thai and Indian with eat in or take away.

Fantastic prices too.Well worth a visit at any time - open 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday.They do takeaways - have had these and excellent value.Coffees are beautiful, works of art.This is now on my regular list of places to visit when in Stornoway - excellent.
