Phenomenal drinks and the atmosphere was cozy.

"cocktails" are actually a child's sugary fruit drink. Can't taste the base spirit, including the mezcal drink that had zero smoke flavor. Cocktails were garbage basically unless you don't like cocktails. Food from the hotel next door was great. Atmosphere is very dimly lit cave.

Nice cocktail bar although quite quiet and a bit hard to find! Service was lovely and drinks were tasty - prices are standard Edinburgh prices!

My friend and I had a poor experience at Heads and Tales last Friday. We had a table booked from 5 PM but bar staff failed to inform us that it was only for 2 hours (they did not mention this while my friend called to make a reservation not when we arrived and sat down), we bought a bottle of wine and settled in and then we were told we will have to vacate the table just before 7 PM, we were informed we can stay another hour at another table that was appadnerky booked from 8 PM and during that hour we were reminded every 15 minutes that we have to leave soon which was very irritating. We'll never go back there.

Came here with family and we were all very impressed! The service was great, the drinks super tasty, and the food was delicious! The halloumi fries were the BEST!! Definitely get them. With a bigger group booking they put you in your own little space that feels like you’re in a cave - we loved it. Would highly recommend!

Great bar service at Xmas time and cosy atmosphere in the tunnels but disappointed I was chucked off the piano by the staff - apparently not everyone encourages musical talent! Don't have an in-tune piano if you don't want anyone to play it 🎹

This place is a hidden gem, located under The Huxley and right next to the over-crowded Gillie Dhu in Edinburgh’s West End. Fantastic atmosphere with very attentive staff. My favorite (non whisky) bar in Edinburgh!

Brilliant service and vibe. We popped in after recommendations from staff in Huxley. Such a lovely atmosphere, knowledgeable staff and amazing drinks. Will definitely be back and will recommend place to others!

Been before and loved it but tried again and was shut despite google saying it was open. Feel bad for the tourists who had booked a table and also couldn’t get in.

Was booked to DJ at this charming venue last weekend and had a great time. Unique space for a more intimate vibe with extremely friendly and accommodating staff. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Super vibey pub below ground. Soundtrack was 90's hip hop and it was poppin. Just had drinks but they were delicious. Tried a Gin flight and a Singapore Sling. The flight was served with ice, tonic, and garnishes on the side to BYO g&t. The sling was super refreshing. Service was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend. The perfect tonic to a long day.

Really fun place, great cocktails and service, excellent food and atmosphere. A bit pricey, but if you're looking for a fun evening out, this is the place.

We were greeted by matin who was very pleasant and had a good knowledge of gin and suggested what my husband to have which he enjoyed I a wine drinker was very pleases that the got me Rosie from an other bar With its love unusual surroundings you feel instantly relaxed great atmosphere Eilidh who was our waitress for the rest of our stay was sooo lovely and chatted as she was serving My only negative comments is the price of mixer would be better if draft or can as found bottle a bit pricey

Superb place to discover. Certainly not easy to find, but it's worth it. The atmosphere is great and the decor is ultra original. The servers are passionate and attentive. The cocktails and gin are excellent.

Food was not tasty, cauliflower wings were just sour. Lots of drinks to choose from, but staff could not help so much with choosing a drink

Amazing gin selection with interesting coctails and lovely steam punk atmosphere. Two of us got food poisoning from the food, I returned my order as it arrived cold but was still ill from one bite. Limited drink selection for non-gin drinkers.

Highly recommend! Came back to days in a row, luckily staff was the same! Heartily welcomed, guided through tastings of several great gins, and just had an overall fantastic experience both nights. Must visit for gin or cocktail lovers in Edinburgh!

Came here for drinks on the way back from the royal mile, what an amazing drink bar! Such a cool and unique atmosphere! They have a precise menu of appetizers and charcuterie trays to go with the magical drinks, can't recommend this place enough! It's sexy as hell, as were the drinks, charcuterie was delish, and the service was top notch! Just try it!!

Excellent attentive staff who were all very welcoming. Great atmosphere with some amazing cocktails. There is a wonderful selection of spirits and house cocktails. All the staff are very knowledgeable and accommodating to special requests. I cannot recommend this venue enough. Rae and Elberto looked after my partner and I exceptionally well, we can't wait to come back!

Gorgeous decor, super comfy seats with plenty of space. Atmosphere a perfect mix of relaxed and upbeat. Lush drinks, we only got cocktails so about £9 per drink but happy to pay for the quality we got! Lovely service and friendly staff.

Nice little gin bar under the Edinburgh Gin Distillery. Friendly and skilled staff and great selection of drinks. A bit too expensive and not really special. They have some nice cellar separate rooms.

Holly and Shaheen where soooo lovely. They made our experience really enjoyable. Listened to what our cocktail preference was and genuinly thought about what we might enjoy drinking and made recommendations . I told them there was no liability obviously. 5 star for craic.

Had an early reservation to kick off our NYE. Our waiter Alberto was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. Started off as a pop in for 1 drink to us running late for dinner because we were enjoying ourselves so much. Drinks were all phenomenal. Highly recommend for the atmosphere, drinks and staff.

My brother suggested here as a great place to try. We were in one of the booths, chose from the huge gin selection that they have to try but unfortunately could only stay for one. Great use of a basement area, what a bar. Will be back.

Awesome cocktails and atmosphere

Went there for the gin making and it was so fun. But when we went back that night for some food and drinks it was not very good. It just seemed like they didn't know how to make drinks or food. Sad cause I was so excited to try this place.

It took a bit of research to find this place, but finally we ended up in a fantastic cocktail bar with thoughtful mixology and a great selection of booze. The house recipes we tried (the bananarama, the one-shot method, and the foreshots) were creative without being too over-the-top. They offer twists on the classics (the heads (negroni), the copper pot (corpse reviver no 2)) that hold their own. Staff was friendly and fun. Nachos earned 3-stars.

You must visit Heads and Tales when in Edinburgh! This was by far our favorite bar in Scotland and one of our new favorite bars ever! The ambiance was super unique with tons of cozy places perfect for small or large groups. The drink menu was EXCEPTIONAL! They had everything from creative gin flights to tiki drinks to classic cocktails and also fun new drinks with flavor combinations we have never had before. This was super cozy and a great place for my family to catch up. Our service was excellent and the food was very tasty as well!

Gin Master Class with Jack was brill. He introduced us to the idea of adding different flavours and smells as well as demonstrating the difference a speciality tonic can make. Cool little bar, unfortunately not disabled friendly with the need to get down a dozen steps outside the entrance. Lots of fun and highly recommended!

This place made me love gin! I didn't give a care about gin and this bar changed my mind. I had just never had good gin before! The space was great fun and the drinks were reasonably priced and very good.

An amazing selection of gin to try with a range of tonics and garnishes. Detailed descriptions and friendly knowledgeable staff. The food was also delicious. The whole thing was very reasonably priced. Very comfortable and well thought out decor too.

One star off for prices. A cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Playing some low volume RnB music too. Good chairs and, a vast selection of the poison.

Fabulous selection of listed cocktails, but even better, a barman (Jack!) who could both construct interesting combinations on the fly, and also make the classics, including ones that aren't part of the gin-focused menu, like the superb Sazerac cocktail in front of me now.

Very disappointed. They do premix drinks. And if you order a good gin you just can’t taste it as it’s gonna be sour or too sweet. The standard G&T is everywhere in Edinburgh. So don’t need to go for G&T and wait to be sitting. As nothing special. Interior was nice.

The drinks, staff atmosphere and ambience were amazing. One of the best places I have been for a drink in recent years. The only real improvement I could suggest is a suitable hot and cold mezze or tapas using local ingredients. All in all a great time with a brilliant drinks menu

A fantastic gin bar, so glad we found it. Located underground down a set of stairs you could easily miss it, but it's fantastic inside. Querky and cavernous, it's got a great atmosphere, and an amazing selection of gins, each with recommended tonics and garnishes. Does also sell cocktails and beers. Great staff, and excellent atmosphere.
