Great find! This is a really fun and unique spot for drinks. We came late one evening after dinner. It was a Saturday night and we were able to book reservations for just drinks in advance, which we really appreciated. The atmosphere is really cool and we loved the overall vibe. The drinks were also spectacular. The big highlight was the "Smoke and Gin Revival." If you get one drink this is the one to get. It was one of the best drinks we've had in a long time and really wowed us. We also got a Gimlet, and the Singapore Sling. Both were delicious. If we lived in town, this place would be a favorite of ours to visit for sure. For finding the bar, just a friendly FYI that the entrance is down a set of stairs (it can be tough to find at first). They do have signs, which were very helpful. If you have trouble finding it, know that it's about 200 feet away from the Waldorf Astoria. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would happily go back. Definitely recommend.

Booked here via open table fairly last minute, was pleasantly surprised that such a lovely bar had tables available at short notice. Nice cocktails and wine, bar snacks also tasty. Our server was very attentive and enthusiastic. Will definitely be back!

Heads and Tails is soo much fun! Alberto is a Liquid Chef, Vibes incredible, and music is fantastic.

Amazing little gin bar in the heart of Edinburgh. Great atmosphere and the gin list is extensive. The staff, especially Alberto, are so knowledgeable and always recommend the perfect gin. Highly recommend the dirty martini as well. Must visit when in town!

In the cellars of the Huxley Hotel lies the Heads & Tails bar by night (and Edinburgh Gin showroom/sales by day). Accessed by some dark side steps you will wonder what you are getting into, but beneath lies a warm welcome and a modest sided cellar bar with different types of seating areas. There is an extensive cocktails menu a and big gin menu categorised by type of flavour - it was all very good and we enjoyed our visit. We had reserved a table in advance.

What a fantastic venue in the heart of Edinburgh. Great staff, great drinks and great atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

A fabulous experience! We walked down random stairs and found a hidden gem! Louis was a great bartender! The atmosphere was so fun and we ran into Holly our favorite Huxley server working there too!

Best cocktails in the city and we tried a lot of places! The expresso martini was the best I’ve had anywhere. Staff were excellent too. Look forward to returning on our next trip.

This place is undoubtedly an Edinburgh’s hidden gem and definitely an unmissable bar ! If you know about gin this is the place to be and if you don’t know about gin this is one of the best places to learn about it in the city!

Lovely place for upscale cocktails - they also have gin and tonic flights which is a fun way to try the different Edinburgh Gins and something I don’t see in other places! Pricey so definitely a special occasion place, also great for dates / couples or bringing people from out of town who like a cosy vibe and an elevated cocktail.

We had a fun and interesting evening doing the gin tasting and distilling of Secret Herb Garden Gins. Shaheen was our host for the evening and he was friendly, fun and knowledgable about the gins and the distilling process being very patient with our many questions. Came home with a small bottle of gin. Would highly recommend.

Great little basement gin bar. Can get busy and some people either queue or turned away - we were lucky enough to get straight in and found some seating. Great drinks, nice waiters/waitresses and nice ambience

We joined 2 young lads to a gin master class that taught us a lot about the history of gin and how the drink evolves as you add the different ingredients. Served in one of their 3 booths it was an intimate and interactive experience. We stayed on to try their different gin cocktails which where served by staff that had a real passion for Gin which made the experience extremely enjoyable. We will for sure go back and try some more.

This little place is absolutely great and has a cosy seating area to sit and enjoy yourself. On arriving it was very busy but the server suggested that our group of 2 could sit in the larger booth area but if a group came in we would have to move this was no problem and understandable. After a few minutes of sitting deciding on a drink the a server came back through to tell us a table had opened up. Fantastic service from this guy as he didn’t have to let us know about the table. Drinks were very tasty and a great selection of cocktails and Gins. Loved being served a cocktail in an Irn Bru can. Will definitely be back again in the future.

Completely overrated bar. They do not even offer all gins of the Edinburgh Distillery even though they are the bar to the distillery, very poor... Service was also not the yellow from the egg- avoid! Go instead to the 56 North Bar! They offer a variety of gins and very good service

We stumbled upon this bar by accident, but so glad we did. It felt like something out of Harry Potter, with some truly unique cocktails. Attentive, friendly service and it wasn’t too busy either which was nice, compared to a lot of other bars in Edinburgh. Would definitely recommend!

We only found this unassuming bar via Trip Advisor, as it is nestled in a basement location, but loved it very much! Atmospheric, chilled, and a perfect place to try many of their Gin-based cocktails! Spent some lovely hours there with my wife.I would also like to say 'thank you' to the amazing staff there, not just for their attentive service, but I left my wallet behind on my last night in Edinburgh, and they sent it back to me even though I live on the other end of the British Isles. Thank you! x

Bueno, fuimos a tomar algo el domingo temprano y nos sentimos como si estuviéramos yendo a algún tipo de lugar clandestino. Ojalá lo hubiéramos encontrado antes como fabuloso. Nos sentimos como si estuviéramos siendo traviesos e iban a ser asaltados por la policía o alguien más que un fabuloso bar tipo gin. Definitivamente volvería otra vez.

Gran lugar para probar gin - tonica. Sin mencionar el lugar que ya es absolutamente increíble. Un servicio atento, lo deja tranquilo, no tiene ganas de irse. El mejor pub al que fuimos en Edimburgo.

This bar is basically everything I want in a bar: fantastic drinks, laid back atmosphere, and staff that is helpful, patient, and really knows their stuff. The cocktails are extremely good and their gin list is a gin lovers dream, though if you're like me and are overwhelmed by the sheer amount of gins just go with a flight (trust me you won't regret it). My mom and I went here a few times while on vacation and it was the perfect spot for both of us, even though we tend to like very different atmospheres when going out. I would recommend this place to anyone of any age who appreciates a well made cocktail or who enjoys gin.

Visité aquí a mediados de semana debido a una recomendación de un camarero de un restaurante cercano que nos lo recomendó para una copa después de cenar y no nos decepcionó.

Parece que solo hay un bar de ginebra / cóctel en Edimburgo que permanece abierto hasta las 3:00 a.m. y este es el lugar. Así que caminamos durante unos 30 minutos frente a Pleasance (a través de las muchas atracciones nocturnas de Grass Market) hasta el extremo de Princes Street (el extremo opuesto a la estación de Waverley) y no nos decepcionó.

If you like gin, love it & enjoy trying different ones this is a bar not to miss. A downstairs bar, that serves gin, nibbles & snacks. The gin menu is eight pages long, each gin is described in detail with suggestions for tonic & garnish, then categorised. The staff are knowledgeable & happy to make suggestions. Highly recommended.

If you’re just wanting to go out for a drink in a cool bar, this is a good place to visit. The drinks are great. Don’t come here if you’re hungry, especially if you’re veggie or vegan!

I came here with my friends I have never had service like I received from Adam this guy is passionate! He puts everything he has into every drink reguardless of how busy it is! He is second to non and I will definitely be coming back!

We were a group of 8 who had been looking forward to a real Gin experience. When it came to the drinks you delivered to the expectations. When it came to customer service, I rarely experienced a feeling of not being wanted going to a bar. Of the 4 waiters we were in contact with, only 1 was close to delivering a good customer experience. With the quality of the goods and the locality, there should be some enthusiasm and joy for those who worked there. Unfortunately, there was a total lack of desire or knowledge to give us a service that would give us the perfect gin experience and become ambassadors for Heads & Tales in Edinburgh.

Small intimate tables, nooks for chatting, and relaxing, and a wide assortment of gins. This bar is more than that, it is a Gin experience. The waitstaff is extremely knowledgeable about gins. The menus is 13 pages, and broken down by flavor types. We were brought over several choices in the desired categories, and in depth descriptions and comparisons ensued. We went for one drink, stayed for two, then went to dinner, only to go back for a martini night cap. When we back the next night, they remembered us, even though it was a completely different server. If you "like" gin, want to know more about gin, or LOVE gin, this is a fantastic spot. Thank you for a very pleasant experience.

We stumbled upon this place while wandering around the city. The entrance is pretty unassuming so you’d never know it was there, but once you get inside it is the cosiest bar, with some super tasty cocktails. We wanted to come back again before we went home, but unfortunately it’s closed on Mondays. Can’t wait to come back though.

We went looking for a Gin bar whilst on our trip, once you find the entrance to the basement bar you will enter a almost living room like atmosphere, very relaxed with table service. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable this is a massive bonus given such a wide range of Gins. If your tagging along with a gin drinker there are beers / whiskey and other drinks on offer. If your not a Gin drinker then given the choice in Edinburgh I would maybe head elsewhere.

A group of friends booked in for the gin masterclass was a little apprehensive as a couple of them weren’t great gin lovers! I needn’t of worried as the very knowledgeable gentleman who took the class lead us through all the different eras of gin making with great humour and showing us that most people like gin it’s the tonic that they don’t!! I thought it was great value for money tasting four different gins with various tonics and embellishments and then a gin and tonic at the end. This was a very enjoyable experience in a quirky bar would definitely recommend it .

Es un lugar al que puedes ir y realmente tener una conversación sin tener que gritarnos porque la música es demasiado alta o la gente demasiado fuerte, nos encanta. Had a great night with four here. We hadn’t booked but very luckily scored one of their private cave rooms. If I was returning I would book to be sure we got something similar again.

We stumbled upon this bar on new years eve before heading to the main hogmany celebrations and loved it. A great cocktail menu (and they serve gin and Irn Bru which made my husband very happy!). We went in for one and ended up staying for 3. Table service and you are immediately greeted by a waiter who brings you water and explains the menu. Orders were taken quickly and refreshed promptly and the drinks were delicious. It also has a really nice vibe - low lighting, industrial style and played hip hop the whole time we were there, which sounds incongruous but actually really worked! Make time for a visit if you're in the area.

Visited on a recent city break. Quite liked the fact it was tucked away in a cellar! Really cool interior, very friendly and knowledgable staff and the gin selection was amazing.

Heads & Tales is a real gem in the West End! Popped in on Friday night for after work drinks and had a great table near the bar. We ordered a few of the sharing boards which were incredible! Really fresh, local ingredients and perfect for sharing between 2 of us but would of been equally perfect for bigger groups. Grant looked after our table, great chat, knowledge and excellent service! Can’t wait to come back and do the gin tasting!

They offer a private gin tasting with a bartender with lots of knowledge about the history, the different kinds of gin and what garnish who goes with the different types. A really cool experience also for a beginner in the gin field!

They have a wonderful menu of exotic Gin Drinks. Their Mixolgists really know what they are doing.

We visited this quirky bar for a gin masterclass and it was excellent.

Nice wee place under a very busy pub and great restaurant up top. Doesn't attract massive footfall which is nice. Impressive selection of gins with associated tonics and garnishes. TBH I think some of the garnishes have jumped the shark now. The interior is great and pretty intimate and the staff were very helpful.

Zuerst besuchten wir (zu viert) die Gin Masterclass, wo wir von einem der Barkeeper in Geheimnisse des Gins eingeführt wurden, die wir definitiv noch nicht kannten. Also nicht das 08:15 Touristen Programm. Unbedingt empfehlenswert! Anschliessend gab es in der Bar noch einen Gin Tonic dazu, die Auswahl auf der Karte ist unendlich. Leider ein wenig zu viel Eis. Aber das Herzblut der Barkeeper spürt man.

My husband and I visited Edinburgh in Scotland and found this little gem on our first night there. The ambiance is great and they have a large variety of gin, beer and mixed cocktails from which to choose. I highly recommend.

Amazing venue hidden away of the beaten track. Decor and ambience is incredible, including all the Gin distillery equipment on show. Staff, very friendly and a fantastic selection of gins and cocktails for anyone who's well in to their gins but even if you're not there are a great selection of other drinks. Massively impressed

Fabulous little gem even though the walking google maps almost took us back to our hotel only one door so no obvious front ! We were greeted by a doorman with a guest list who took us to our booth! Our own volume control music, fabulous staff and a gin and traitor list to die for !!! We only stayed for one drink as we had other places to try but this place fantastic and we wish we had stayed longer !! We will def be back and will def tell all our friends and Scottish family about heads and tales ❤️❤️

Fuimos a tomar una bebida después del trabajo ya que estábamos cerca. Heads and Tails es una verdadera joya escondida, ¡el ambiente es genial! Nuestros cócteles se prepararon perfectamente y sabían muy bien. ¡Volveremos!

Este gin bar está justo en el medio del West End y es parte de la destilería de Ginebra y el de Edimburgo Rutland Hotel, sin embargo, no es fácil de encontrar, aunque sabíamos donde íbamos. No hay señal o entrada. obvio es la vuelta de la esquina y al bajar las escaleras a una gran puerta de madera y es bastante desagradable. Es una sorpresa cuando vas dentro. Su peculiar y fresco.. Me hubiera encantado cuando era estudiante. El diseño con las cabinas en bóvedas y la decoración de la destilería es bien pensado. Previamente pudimos hacer con un menor que de costumbre cantidad de gente ya que teníamos personas con discapacidad en la compañía y fueron muy comprensivos sobre este, así que fue una buena atención al cliente. Yo la verdad no me sentí bien en la llegada lo que moja mi entusiasmo. Tuve terrible acidez así mi hermana fuimos al bar y pedimos pep, para ayudarme, pero el camarero era extremadamente grosero, inútil y arrogante y por lo tanto realmente quería irse de inmediato. Una chica nos sentamos en taburetes de bar que no eran adecuadas, pero todo el crédito a que nos cambiaron cuando más cómodo se convirtió en disponible y me gustó mucho y que ella sugirió la crema de menta para mi indigestión. Otro estuvo entreteniendo notamos era mi cumpleaños sobrinas y compramos un tequila que disfrutamos. Que era muy considerado de él. Si no hubiera sido por el barman grosero, entonces el resultado servicio hubiera sido más alta, pero él realmente desprestigia. El menú de bebidas es amplia y variada, pero personalmente no me gusta el estilo del portapapeles ya que encontrará difícil de negociar, también, el papel se pone empapado y parece horrible. En cuanto a las bebidas que no fue la mejor experiencia como me sentí mal. . . Ojalá me había sentido bien y quizás si hubiera sido al principio de la noche no hubiera sido mejor en un marco de la mente, y lo disfrutamos más. Como yo era simplemente no dan una sensación para el lugar. Es mi cumpleaños en octubre así que puede intentarlo de nuevo cuando estoy menos enferma y desgastada. . Me voy a la derecha, justo todavía. Una cosa a tener en cuenta es que tanto hombres y mujeres de ir en la puerta misma de los inodoros y los hombres tienen que pasar entonces si lavarse las manos o la aplicación de maquillaje. . Todos vinieron se disculpó y fuimos a salir de nuevo y tuvimos que decirles que pase. Estoy mencionando esto porque algunas mujeres no como este.

Hotel nos envió aquí para cócteles antes de la cena. Está por debajo de la planta baja. No dejes que la entrada de disuadir. Una vez dentro, se alegrará introducida. Un bar guay. Tenía una copa de gin y una "traiciã³n" o bebida no gin. Muy bueno. El servicio es estupendo. Lugar perfecto para cócteles.

Visitamos este tesoro escondido de un bar la noche antes de nuestra excursión gin se celebrarán en el mismo lugar, así que sabíamos cómo encontrarlo a la mañana siguiente. No me di cuenta hasta entonces era un bar por la noche se venden un montón de diferentes Gin. Era un bar íntimo muy pequeño con servicio de camareros y un ambiente relajante para disfrutar de unos multimillonarios. Sin embargo, aviso, volvimos para la última noche de nuestras vacaciones un lunes por la noche sólo para descubrir que no está abierto de lunes noches! :-(

Visitamos el sábado 21 de julio, la calle un grupo de 8 mujeres que aman gin! La cata de gin superó nuestras expectativas, debido a la excelente conocimiento de la historia de la Ginebra y la amplia gama de gin probado! Nos de hambre así que pedimos la junta pan y aceitunas, la selección de panes era fabuloso, algunos eran todavía cálido y luego las aceitunas eran asados y excelentes para probar! Recomendaría a todo el mundo a probarlo!

Visitamos los jefes y los cuentos para una clase maestra el sábado 14 de Ginebra (tarde) como un grupo de 12. Toda la experiencia de principio a fin era increíble y nos encantó cada segundo. La señora entrega (se me olvidó su nombre, lo siento) era extremadamente eficiente y entretenido. Sin duda lo recomiendo y volveré en mi próxima visita a Edimburgo.

I visited this weekend to help celebrate a special birthday. The venue is very quirky and atmospheric with a wide variety of gins on offer. Due to the size of our group, a £50 deposit was required upon booking.

Headed in here for a couple of drinks. As with the other speakeasy bars, it has plenty of character and appears part of the Edinburgh Gin distillery. Good selection of cocktails available. It was quiet when we went in, but still had a nice atmosphere.

Ok, we turned up on a bank holiday Sunday with no reservation. 15min wait for a table fair enough. Another 25min at the table and didn't even have our order taken. Other tables around us had no drinks or had finished. 1 lady behind the bar and 1 girl floating around unable to cope with a full bar. A shame as we have been before (also no reservation) and found the gin selection really good..

Really enjoyed the cool décor and also the friendly vibes. You enter through a downstairs tatty wooden door way into a mysterious corridor, and the rooms open out into really funky venue. The drinks were amazing and the food was really tasty too

We booked out Heads & Tales for a private 21st birthday party last month. Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world... this is the one to go to. I thought it was "cool" and the 20 somethings assured me...

I had never tasted Gin before visiting Heads and Tales. The "rustic" feel really added to the ambiance of the bar and lounge. Staff were great and very helpful to a "first timer"!!

Nos recomendaron venir aquí por un amigo y estamos muy contentos de haberlo hecho. Precioso, acogedor bar gin con gran picoteo y platos combinados. Lo que realmente hizo que fue el chico que nos atendio, fue tan bien informado sobre todo lo que recomienda ginebras, me gustaría, lo que va bien con lo que puede, como para probar la próxima y podría lista por todas las notas de cata y Botanicals había desde cualquier grúa. Su entusiasmo era increíble y como un amante de la ginebra muy apreciado.

Really put off by what can only be described as the most irritatingly bad and loud music. Couldn't hear myself speak and both myself and my guest left early. We did ask for it to be changed and the tunes improved very slightly but still far too loud. We have both gone home with headaches! Drinks lovely, food ok, staff very nice.
