Excellent food fab service and lovley people

Nothing revolutionary but a decent cafe with nice food and coffee at honest prices.

The most rancid meal I've had the displeasure to consume!!!

Amazingly good at very reasonable prices. A clean bright interior plus outside tables and a menu ranging from full meals to sandwiches all home cooked.

Always spotlessly clean. Friendly staff. Excellent food.

Always positive experience at Hays cafe, starting with the lovely and helpful staff always doing the best they can , the food it's tasty and fresh and the portions are huge, they got decent prices but like I said 10 stars for the hard working staff there, even they are very busy most of the time.

Amazing service,really nice atmosphere,everyone was all smiling and nice really helpfull,food was AMAZING i cannot believe how good it was,cafe was spotless and really clean,will DEFINITELY be visiting more!

Sorry to say this is not the place to go if you want a decent coffee, peculiar taste and asked for cappuccino more like a latte with chocolate on the top.

Quaint cafe, chips were adequate sausage frozen sausages, ample portions, bring your own ketchup etc as thay are watered and vinegared down,had a slice of bread and butter which was stale,my first and only time here,plus menus have different prices to what's in the menu board..

Despite many places to choose from in Hailsham to get a cook breakfast, Hays Cafe, by far, has the best value for money breakfast you can by. Lots of choice on the menu if you don't want a cooked breakfast, but be warned, it gets busy at peak times!!

First, remember its a small family run traditional cafe with all day breakfast that has multiple menu options plus traditional English menu. The service was happy and friendly. The food was properly prepared to order. Wait time was reasonable considering every table was occupied pretty close to capacity. For a local traditional cafe its a definite winner. Don't sit by the front door on a cold day, door doesn't self close and nobody seems to understand the sign on the door to close it properly. Only downside to the experience. Funny how the old people close the door properly and those under 50 don't seem to comprehend the sign 🤣🤣🤣 Be nice if the fixed or replaced the door.

First time visiting this café. My husband had a bacon baguette i just had a coffee & looking at their breakfast menu will be visiting again.

Bog standard cafe, tasteless fried food. Nice atmosphere, probably due to the Christmas Market outside. Staff where polite.

Popped in with my elderly Mum. For a nice lunch and drink. It is always busy the wait is so worth it. The meals will be freshly cooked and prepared for us. Great portion size looking very appetising and always tastes fresh. Just wish they were open more hours and days. To offer deliveries really love this place. They will always have our custom. Plus our recommendations

Absolutely disgusting service I wrote in my order pacifically to not put beans as allergic and an extra sausage and when called up and told that my whole order had been wrong he called me a liar said he was busy and hung up and he said that my pacific instructions wasn’t on the order when I had it in front of my face and I was reading it to him!!!!!!!Absolutely disgusting didn’t offer to do me and my partner another breakfast or give me any money back just hung up

Always good food at fair prices. Lovely friendly staff. Clean seating areas and cutlery. Great place for lunch with or without friends. We keep going back time and again. Thanks Hays staff!

After the continuous shocking service from this cafe i will not be returning. Long waits for drinks even when they are not busy, the staff are rude and unhelpful. Everything seems that it is way to much bother for them. no respect for their customers as they are more interested in speaking between themselves than actually serving. The manager is on a completely different level he is rude, very disrespectful and eavesdrops on your conversations. He makes you feel really uncomfortable with the way he glares at you after hes been eavesdropping on your conversations. Makes you wonder what he does to your food before it comes out of the kitchen

Prices too much , £2 for a can of drink. Portions are getting smaller and smaller but prices don't reflect what you get. Dissapointed.

First time going in this cafe just thought we would give it a try. Well we're do we start, firstly we were served by a young boy he was scruffy, unfriendly, rude and definitely should not have been behind a counter serving anyone I asked him a question and he had to ask a foreign woman with blonde hair who was just as rude. The tables were sticky we had some rude disgusting man sitting near us and while we were eating he burped which was disgusting 🤢. The only good thing about the place was the sandwich we had which was an egg and beacon sandwich it was lovely but apart from that I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Always a pleasant welcome , the food is of a high standard ,its not fast food it's cooked to order in a very clean kitchen, good varied menu, I try and pop in at least 3 times a week ,never been dissatisfied.

I definitely 👍 recommend 👌 Hays café. They are a positive team and serve delicious food 😋 High standard no matter how busy. Food looks 👌 great presented and good portions. We will continue to visit them and hope nothing changes. Julie-anne ❤

Been here a few times now for Breakfast and Lunch. Also had a couple of Take aways. Friendly staff, fresh food, place clean and tidy. Definitely one of best in Hailsham

Had breakfast at hays cafe yesterday and was charged 70p for a glass of tap water and was told this was normal

We just popped in here on the off chance for a quick bite to eat, Hay's Cafe has a very large menu to choose from, the food was excellent with huge portions & was piping hot, very reasonable prices too, friendly & helpful staff. There is a restroom & free WiFi. Plenty of seating inside & out. The coffee was nice & strong too. Well worth a try 👍🙂

Such a shame the owner/manger is so rude! Came in today to support a local restaurant in these hard times rather then just go to weatherspoons. Their was about 4 or 5 other customers in. I walked in with my other half to be shouting at! GO AWAY WE ARE CLOSED! As i walked out I saw the opening times saying they close at 5pm this was no where close to 5pm hours away! If i was spoken to Nicely this would not have been an issue! But the fact I was shouted out like I was meant to be able to read his mind!

Absolutely love this place , massive portions , really well presented and easy to plate up at home ... quick delivery , piping hot .... I honestly cannot recommend this place enough

Always excellent for and great value

Very disappointed with this place. I love supporting local businesses, during these times it's more important now than ever but there was absolutely no care given to us for wanting to keep safe whilst doing so. We went in for a coffee and something to eat, sat at a table away from others (asking staff before doing so) and had another family sit on the table right next to us, including the space with a clear yellow and black cross taped to it to allow for social distancing. Not a problem, things are strange at the moment and take some getting used to. I spoke with the family saying they were not supposed to sit so close and it was clearly marked not to. As they did not care to move I called over a member of staff who told us to move if we did not like it even though we were sitting down first and when I said this just got a blank look. After explaining the situation further she took up our menus, went behind the counter and ignored us! I spoke with another member of staff who I explained the situation too who proceeded to do the same thing! My husband took the baby outside and I continued to ask why they were not following the guidelines to keep us safe, it's no way to treat customers. The chef came out and asked what the problem was, I started to explain and just got shot down with 'darling, I'm busy' and 'get out, go'. I'd like to point out I spoke with respect, I did not shout or talk down to anybody. It's ridiculous having to write this review and I'm sad to do so but we were not listened to or respected and neither were the rules to keep their 'valued' customers safe. It was such an easy thing to sort out. A simple, 'I'm ever so sorry but this table has a cross on it to allow for social distancing, please could you move to this table' would have done. I'm shocked how we was made to feel terrible for wanting to follow the rules to keep us safe but also everybody else. Please see it from our point of view, we were not wanting to be difficult and cause trouble. You need to improve your customer care and value people making the effort to support your business.
