Nothing like a pub ripping the public off !!! £5.70 for a pint of Guinness!! Tasted the same as the Guinness in pub round the corner which was £4.80.....£16.50 for a burger and chips and I had to go to greggs afterwards for a sandwich because I was still hungry!!! Absolutely ripped off... the short girl behind the bar needs to work on her customer services skills because she has none whatsoever 🙄. My greggs sandwich was great. Maybe take some advice on food from them....

Was in for food with my family today I had your Famous Steak Pie with veg and gravy. the gravy was like hot brown water Veg was one piece of carrot cut in half and looked like it was past the sell by date, as for the pie it was disgusting the crust was overcooked and I could only eat the small amount of steak not very appetising, and very small portions and very overpriced wouldn't recommend it tto anyone !!

Very nice bar, great staff who took care of us very well and a nice fresh pint.

We’re not local to the area and was recommended the Haymarket for decent pub food. We booked a table in the “small room” that provides “table service” No service for 25+ minutes and decided to leave. I did go up with a menu and ask the bar if I can order, but they said it was table service. I didn’t just decide to sit down in a pub and wait for table service as the reply below suggests. Bar staff were great and I’m sure the food would have been good but didn’t quite experience it.

Was in the Haymarket tonight and ordered nachos, haddock goujons and halloumi fries: Nachos congealed, lacked salsa and difficult to eat in one lump. Gougons lacked haddock and returned enough of the batter to coat the next batch. Halloumi fries were drier than a camels flip flop and were Luke warm at best. Bar staff seemed disinterested with constructive feedback.

Charged £3.73 for service!! for two bar meals costing £31. It is discretionary, but only noticed after I'd paid. Not discretionary for me, be aware. Food OK, but wouldn't be back.

Nice big pub. Average ales. Typical expensive Edinburgh prices. My local is £3.40 per pint, this was more like £6. Which is typical, or even cheap, for Edinburgh as a whole. Popular pub, so seating was hard to get, for a group of 7. Didn't eat there, so can comment on the food.

Bellissimo pub caratteristico, dista più o meno 20 minuti dal centro ed è un'ottima opzione se si vuole vivere l'esperienza del pub scozzese senza spendere molto. Presenta una zona con i tavoli per sedersi e rilassarsi ma anche un bancone dove bere una birra e guardare programmi sportivi. Ha un menù vasto che può accontentare tutti, che va da burgers a piatti caratteristici. La cameriera è stata gentilissima e i piatti sono arrivati in poco tempo. Sono rimasta contentissima, bellissima esperienza!

My wife and I were disappointed with the meals we both had especially for the price we paid. I had the Balmoral chicken which was very dry and very few vegetables with it and my wife had the lamb pie again very few veg. We did mention to the server about my meal and we did get one free dessert courtesy of the manager who did bring it over to us herself but it put us off visiting the other Nicholson pubs in the city.

This is the first pub in Edinburgh where I could find ginger wine, bonus!

Had a great lunch at Haymarket Bar with friends. Staff were super friendly and the service was spot-on, even during a busy time. Food was delicious and arrived quickly. Definitely recommend for a nice, casual meal out. Solid five stars!

Great atmosphere in this pub, which is in a central location near the Haymarket Train Station. I had a Steak and Ale Pie and a pint. The pint was great, and there was a good selection. But the pie was over cooked. Crust was very hard, very little filling, which was dry. The mash was really nice though. Maybe this is just a one-off because others have really rated this pie. Shame.

When I 1st ordered, I thought that £23 was a bit steep for burger/chips and beer. However, soon changed my mind when presented with the meal. A double sized burger, along with bacon, tomato, cheese and onion, with some order of salty chips. Food was a good as it looked, accompanied by a pint of Nicholson's Pale Ale. Haymarket pub, Edinburgh is well worth a visit! First time here in about 37 years. Used to be a regular haunt when I worked close by in my late teens/ early twenty's. Magnificent👍

Outside it says that they serve food until 10pm, we got there at 9pm, ordered through the phone and then we got told the kitchen was closed after we had already paid. We got a refund but they kept the tips.

Rude bar manager lacks the skills to be a manager. This used to be such a good bar full of locals now just avoided by locals now.

We were staying at the Premier Hub on a short break and everytime we passed it was always so Busy.We decided to gave it a try and we’re so glad we did.Lovely Buzz about the place.The service and food was great ,Ellie was friendly and efficient and even recommended a gin tour and a visit to the Botanical gardens as things to do on our visit .

Popped in for a wee drink when my train was delayed. Great Gin selection which pleased my wife, I’m new to real ales but Ellie was very knowledgeable and helped me make the right choice.I know where I’ll be going next train delay.

Very Busy Pub not sure if it’s always so busy or just the festive period ,we were lucky to find a table.The staff were very friendly and Ellie looked after us amazingly even though it was super busy.Food was your classic pub food,which was well presented and tasty.Would definitely return again.

We went in on the off chance looking for an evening meal. It was very busy with a lively atmosphere but the staff went out of their way to help us find a table as most were booked. The recommended beer (Nicholson's Pale Ale on draught) was delicious and so was the food. The two girls serving us were both smiley and helpful despite being rushed off their feet. Note to self: book a table when eating out in Edinburgh at busy times!

The food from the rest of the reviews looks okay, and the pub seems fine for a drink and some snacks ordinarily, though a bit out of the way of the city centre unless you are around Haymarket station anyway. Staff friendly enough. However the Christmas menu was quite appalling really. Very low quality food and you'd expect to be ripped off a bit at Christmas but even this wasn't worth the price tag - almost £400 for four people. Starter was a decent enough soup, but the roast itself was tiny (e.g. 4 small potatoes, 2 parsnips, a teaspoon of red cabbage, a couple of slices of cheap turkey meat) and 4 profiteroles for dessert. It just seemed very cheeky to charge so much and serve so little and of such poor quality.

Wuiet when we went in. Bit expensive for my liking we passed by on way back to holtel and it looked a bit busier than earlier

Wonderful experience..up until the point we were questioned TWICE by two different employees about whether or not we paid the bill, which our fantastic waitress handled 15 minutes prior. If turning away visitors exploring this wonderdul country is your aim, we hope this post helps! That has never happened even once in my life, and it happened twice within minutes! This is unacceptable! Sounds like the employees don't know that the heck is going on in their own establishment.

Went in for a few beer for a works day out quite a quiet pub at that time of the so had drinks then moved onto Scots guards club across the road

Shocking customer service. Have to order online but this was out of order. Went to the bar to order after waiting 10 minutes for an meme we of staff to acknowledge us and they didn’t even offer half the items listed on the menu. Took 20 minutes to just put in our order. Tried to charge me £27 for my meal when it was detailed as £18 on the menu. Overall terrible experience. Would not recommend.

Walked in and were not acknowledged for about 10 minutes. Went up to someone working there and they told us to go to a different area if we wanted to eat, then said there wasn’t enough room for us despite us calling ahead. Once seated we waited for another 10-15 minutes and were once again ignored. We approached the bar and were then told we had to order food there. Half the items on the menu were not available and prices were different than shown online. Our order took almost 20 minutes to put in for three people. This is before even getting the food. When we got back to the table we also saw a waitress taking the order of a table beside us. Really disappointing experience, don’t go here for a Sunday roast

Went there for a drink. It is a classic British pub, rugby themed with lots of memorabilia and historical bits about rugby in the auld reekie. The location is quite central, just across from the Haymarket train station.

Excellent all round. Service was perfect, delivered by a cheerful and helpful French lady. Food was very good, as expected. No reasonable person could have asked for more.

A nice enough city centre bar. It's part of a chain and in many ways it shows. The staff are very helpful, but seemed over worked, and the beer is good but not exceptional. Toilets are not easy to find but clean enough once you get there. A good place to meet up and then move on from. Haymarket Station is close by.

Pub tipico di Edimburgo anche se facente parte della catena Nicolson dunque le proposte sono quelle di tutti i pub della stessa catena. Ambiente molto bello con una saletta ristorante separata e più tranquilla. Menu piuttosto ampio e piatti di qualità. I prezzi risultano alti per chi arriva dall'italia, diciamo che per un piatto e una pinta di birra servono 20/25 sterline ma si resta soddisfatti. Il servizio è gentile, io ho testato il meccanismo di ordine e pagamento dal tavolo e ha funzionato alla perfezione ma ovviamente si può ordinare al banco come si è sempre fatto.

I stopped here on my arrival to Edinburgh. Seating and service were prompt. I had the haggis and a good stout or two, and was very pleased with both. This was the perfect place to warm up on a cold evening. Great atmosphere. Sorry I forgot to take a snapshot.

Good pub near Haymarket Trainstation and near the Tram line. Good selection of beers, good pub grub and well mannered staff. Pop inside if you're around.

Pas bien mangé, on a attendu 1h30 pour nos repas surchauffés et vraiment pas tout a la hauteur qu'on attendait, tres déçu de ce pub, a ne plus jamais retourner.

Staff didn’t look impressed. I ordered a pink gin and lemonade. I’m pretty sure that if I drank toilet duck it would taste better. Drink left and we went somewhere else.

We use it a lot when we are in Edinburgh family food good staff and are very helpful especially if the trains are off and you need to know the bus times

Overall, it was a nice pub. Plenty drinks on offer. Unfortunately the food was lacking. My partner had the macaroni cheese which looked like it was just heated up in the microwave and it was still hard. Good pub but food is suspect, sorry. Good variety of drinks though
