Having been to the Hayhurst Arms previously and it being fairly local to me, I decided to take a visiting family member for dinner as a treat. I ordered the tomato and red pepper soup to start and the Malaysian Sweet Potato and Aubergine curry for main. The soup was lovely and obviously home made and tasty. However, the curry, despite being described as such, contained two small pieces of sweet potato and courgette with no aubergine in sight. The rest of the meagre portion consisted of peppers and red onion. A meal that probably would have cost me less than £2 to make at home and I feel did not command the price on the menu. I spent £97 for 3 people and I left fairly hungry, disappointed and I’m sure I won’t return anytime soon

Popped into the Hayhurst Arms without booking a table and Jake got us seated straight away regardless! The service was exceptional and the food sublime. My only complaint is that I had to leave! Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would absolutely recommend for anyone who enjoys good food and good service.

We both chose the roast chicken, the chicken was cooked to perfection, very tender and super tasty. The gravy was a bit salty, maybe that’s just my taste, but other than that the meals in general were delicious. We are regular visitors to this establishment and over the past 6 months haven’t had any complaints at all. The service was great, the waitress was very attentive and polite, also, even though the place was full, no delay in receiving our food, which is a bonus.

I visited today (27/09) at 5pm and every single member of staff was a 10/10 for politeness, attentiveness and friendliness. I had the feathered beef- the portion was generous, and it was absolutely delicious- I have been raving about it all day. Amazing experience, and I can't wait to come back!

Have eaten here many times - so generally very good. This time was disappointing. Ordered fillet steak but then told they had none left. Tried the brisket instead (recommendation of the waitress). Unfortunately this was really salty. We should have sent it back but didn’t make a fuss. Starter and dessert were ok. If this had been our first visit - it would probably be the last! However in view of previous good experiences, will give it another chance (just avoid the brisket).

We love the Hayhurst and visit at least four/five times a month. We've never had a bad meal, the pub is gorgeous, made even better when the sun is shining and we get to sit on the terrace. Staff are world class, friendly and always up for a little chat even though they are usually very busy.

Awful from the moment we walked in. We've eaten here before many times but it's really gone downhill. We hadn't booked (never previously have for lunch midweek) and we were met with a man who rudely waved us over rather than meet us properly. Told us no food was being served outside but later walked past us with food to take to outside tables, sat us in a cramped, noisy area and just seemed generally inconvenienced by us. We almost walked out. The food took ages and was only okay and the whole place seemed to be run by kids that didn't really care about the service or their jobs. Will not be returning.

Called in after a day at the Cheshire show, didn’t make a reservation but staff kindly prepared a table for us while we parked car and even got us a high chair ready for our little one. Familiar with the Brunning and Price brand so knew what to expect. However I felt compelled to write a review as just had a lovely evening. Staff were so so friendly, attentive and helpful and never too far away to ask for more drinks etc particular shout out to a young girl just finished a course at LIPPA in Liverpool - didn’t catch her name. Food was gorgeous, had the salmon and partner had the beef brisket. Food was served in good time, fresh and piping hot. People complain about the price of the food however I’d rather pay decent money for excellent food, fantastic service in a lovely atmosphere any day of the week. Thank you Hayhurst Arms, we will be back!

My second review of the Hayhurst Arms and it hasn’t changed much. Mine host seemed a bit harassed and abrupt, hardly giving us time to sit down before asking what drinks we wanted but found us a table, and the service in general was prompt and efficient, food was excellent, I had the sea bass and my partner the lamb shoulder. The Weetwood Bostock Blonde ale was excellent, less enthusiastic about the rum flavoured cider. Like most Brunning &Prices gets very busy with a certain clientele.

A busy pub restaurant with good ambience. The front of house staff are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. We visited as a group of friends. We had a lovely efficient waitress but what a disappointment when the meal arrived. One had the fish and chips and the portion size was very small. I had the sea bass and my meal was cold and tasteless. My friend had the chicken burger which looked so dry and burnt and she couldn’t eat the top of the bun and then had food poisoning. My partners pie was ok but small and nothing special for the price. Our other friends had the lamb and were very disappointed. Very pricey for such poor quality of food. I wish I had taken a photo of the dishes. A shame as it is in a lovely location close to home. The food here has gone downhill.

Location is superb, the Garden setting is lovely on a summers day. Dogs friendly and actively catere for, free water, biscuits etc. However, I was starving, I was treating mum, How chose the Quiceh, with new potatoes and I opted for the Fish Finger butty, Failsafe how hard can it be. 40 minutes later, having chased up the order the waiter brought out our meal, the dissapointment was heartfelt. Fish Goujons, were freezing cold, size no bigger than your thumb, sliced into layes over lettuce on a huge slive of stael sourdough bread. The quiche was a round hocky puck size quiche and the potatoes were not bad.. I left the bread and the token side salard, and ate what little fish there was.. It was really not great.. I wont be going back. If you are there this month avoid the fish finger butty its so so poor

We always go to a local brunnings and price in Thelwall village and adore the food. We wanted a little drive and a different scene. This is what brought us to the Hayhurst Arms. Small 20 minute drive and small drive off the M6. We sat outside as it was a beautiful day and we’re able to set a tab. Drinks were brought out fast and the staff were really friendly. Me and my son have coeliac and the choice for the food was amazing. So many options and choices not the standard sorry you can only have a jacket potato. My husband ate here 6 years ago and had the same meal he said this is the best steak sandwich since he was here 6 years ago! Inside is lovely and I expect in the evening would have a lovely atmosphere. Dog friendly with treats at the bar. We will definitely be returning thank you very much.

As a few others have said, absolutely ridiculous prices and I felt ripped off! The food is lovely, however myself and my daughter had a roast dinner and a drink and the bill came to £71!!! Lamb roast = £23!!!! Glass of Sauvignon Blanc = £11.50!!!! What is going on? This totally took the fun out of eating out and I won’t be returning unless they stop taking advantage like this. We also had to pay £1.25 extra for a Yorkshire pudding!

Stumbled upon this establishment by chance heading home after spending a few hours ambling around Northwich. As relative newcomers to this area we are still exploring and this was a really pleasant surprise. A really good location set against Bostock Village Green, and a bonus for us, DOG FRENDLY! Our meals were simple 'Pub Classics' of 2 Pie & Mash (one swopped mash for chips without issue) and the portions were more than adequate. Service was efficient, pleasant and friendly and even our dog was given a friendly greeting. Would certainly return.

Good quality but some items were horrendously expensive for what they were. A side order of peas £4.25 WHAT! Glass of Merlot £9.40 WHAT! This is taking the mickey. I like Brunning & Price establishments and won’t stop going but we were there Bank Holiday Monday 7.00pm - it would usually be full but it was not even half full. We went for our Christmas catch up with friends. 3 of us ordered the turkey dinner. I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the meal. The potatoes were hard and anemic and the turkey quite dry. Certainly not worth the £16.95. We ordered a...

Attended Hayhurst Arms for our works Christmas Function. We booked at least two months in advance. Turned up for our table at 6.30 and it wasn't ready so we were told to order drinks from the bar. I ordered a bottle of rose wine along...

A great family and friends visit to the hayhurst. Wonderful food, great service, great value for money. The staff were so helpful, we didn't feel rushed, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Well done, hayhurst staff, your wonderful efforts are greatly appreciated!!!!!

Food was very nice and service good. Very busy for a Monday but instead of using the whole pub, all the diners were sat in the same area. So no social distancing or ventilation and it was very warm.

Lots of 5* star reviews here so it must be us! Had lunch here which was well cooked and tasty, but £16.95 for fish pie without chips was excessive. Needless to say we didn’t bother with dessert. There are restaurants with more extensive menus where you...

Birthday treat for afternoon tea. Put us in a room on our own so I asked to be moved to sit with everyone else dining...which they did. Sandwiches brought out on saucer sized plate then another plate with cakes and scones. I asked why not served on 3 tier cake stand as she gave some poor excuse as to cakes might melt so they don't use them hower other diners had them! They forgot to bring the strawberries and cream and champagne we ordered. Waitress was moody and unhelpful and we had to go into bar for a cocktail as they were now shutting!! Huge amount of money for poor food and service. Never been back!

Have been going to this cafe for years and have always received excellent service and food, the staff work so hard yet always manage to be friendly and have a smile for you, the food is great and really good value for money.

The Woodland is close to Ellemere Port Hospital and serves for much of the day. Usual "Stonehouse" fayre. Very pleasant member of staff who checked for allergies and carried our drinks to our table as I am dodgy on my feet. We took advantage of the offer of two meals for £11.75 from a reduced menu. Pleasant food, but nothing special, except the price.

We went here for food as the brewers fayre is closed for refurbishments at the premier inn we were staying at. The food was terrible, if it wasn't for us being starving after a full day at Chester zoo we wouldn't have eaten it. Wasn't expecting top of the notch food for the price but was definitely expecting much better than what was served. Everything looks to have come out the same deep fat fryer which seemed could do with a oil change, one of my children's starters was veg sticks which were so dry and looked like they'd been prepped the week before, the others a "garlic bread starter" was two slices off a cheap garlic baguette. The staff were lovely and the place was clean so probably a great place for a drink, just wouldn't return again food.
