We arrived early and had a friendly welcome. Having sat down it was clearly apparent there was a change of staff, roughly 3pm. Our first server I’m guessing was checking off, no interest at all, next server was fair but never saw again, all in all 6 different servers, not one the same on any time coming to the table so no continuity, very little interest except for the lady towards the end. We had pork belly ribs to start, amazing, nice salad with it. The. Between three we had a 1kg porterhouse plus two fries mushrooms mac and cheese and drinks. The steak was excellent but I felt the portions were all very small for the cost of the food. Not good value for money. But this is London. After one dessert it came to just shy of £250. I was really looking forward to this meal but felt very let down. A shame and will be hard pushed to return. I feel there are better restaurants serving quality food for more value. Sorry

We had an early sitting, around 6 pm, and the restaurant was already quite busy. Our waiter was attentive and picked up on a very short mention of one of us celebrating their birthday which resulted in chocolates and a candle later on. The oysters whilst not large were excellent and my steak was fantastic. The Portuguese House red is good value for money and went well with the main course. Whilst not a cheap restaurant I feel it is good value for money due to the quality of the food, service and location

Terrible uninterested service. The beef was no better than ok. The noise was awful. The staff did not wear uniforms or badges and were so sloppily dressed that it was offputting. I am amused by Hawksmoor's reply, below, to my comments. They say "food and service are a highlight" of what they do. Well, what else do they do?

TLDR: Go to Goodmans. After not having been to Hawksmoor for over 10 years I thought it was worth giving it another shot. Noisy place, but service was quick and efficient. Steak (500 g Ribeye) was ordered medium rare and half of it was cooked perfectly and tasty (albeit without much of a crust), but the other half was overcooked somehow. My parents ordered the mixed grill platter and unfortunately everything there was overcooked. Wine recommendation was good. Coffee was bad and while there were 4 ports on the menu they came back to tell me they had none available. Also, no cheesecake in a steakhouse? Overall not impressed.

Compared to the New York branch, the home country was truly different. The taste, price and service were all perfect. It is recommended that you make a reservation in advance and try the Sunday roast, which is only available on Sundays.

Just been here for a business lunch. The positives, steak was fantastic and cooked to perfection. However service, started well with the lady on reception and the lady on the bar, however the wait staff leave a lot to be desired today. We asked for advice on how to order as a group to share. The advice on the steak was spot on but the sides are so tiny we immediately ordered more as soon as they arrived. The greens on the menu were just boiled unseasoned cabbage. The rest tasty but very small including the tiny jugs of sauce you get. Our waitress was not good, very abrupt, verging on rude and at one point literally swiped away our glasses to make room for the food. Quite a surprise for a high end restaurant. We paid the service charge but a note to the team, you charge for service and we expected better today

We came for a Sunday roast, had the chateaubriand with the trimmings. Beef was very tough and hard to cut with the dull knife given to us. The potatoes were hard on the outside, so hard that the dull knife couldn't cut through. Then there's the service, for a space that markets itself on being high-end, I would say that the service was sub-par, and not attentive to us or trained properly. It wasn't all bad though, the sticky toffee pudding was excellent, I would highly recommend it!

From US and put this establishment on our list after seeing it on a list of top 10 steakhouses in the world. We’ve been to 7 of them and wanted to add this to our list. The atmosphere is a bit pubish and lacks the aura of some of the others. The food overall exceptional from the creative drinks to the delicious scallop appetizers, bone marrow generous and best we’ve had; to the great steak sauces and delicious sticky toffee pudding. The creamed spinach side was delicious but the chateaubriand for 2 fell slightly short of world best status. We will be back and I’m guessing a different choice of meat will elevate it to a world contender!

Our visit was disappointment because of the overprice. We with my wife ordered shared 600g Chateaubriand with couple of side dishes and bottled beers (no draught beer or ale was available). While the meat was good, it was slightly overcooked. The portion came without any 'decorations' and we had to order more side dishes. All this definetly was not 140£. For such a price range, I would also expect a tablecloth. In my view, this was a "tourist trap" for one-time visitors.

As a family we went for the acclaimed Sunday Roast . Don’t expect a traditional English pub as there was no beer on tap and cocktails at 13 quid each were small and the decor was plain.. Both the roast beef and potatoes lacked flavour ,the veges were good and the bone marrow gravy was very average Definitely catering for the unaware tourists at 27quid per person ,desert additional . If you looking for a traditional English pub with a beer on tap and a Sunday Roast for 18 pounds ,there are other options close by .

An old favourite but afraid no longer and have seen a decline in quality over the years. Sunday roast now £28, rump portion size has shrunk and so much of the plate filled with other than roast - half the plate filled with carrots and plenty of greens. We had a great Sunday Roast at Hawksmoor, but the experience was slightly let down by the meat. While the T-bone and Chateaubriand steaks were good, they could have been cooked a bit better—they weren’t quite perfect. Staff very attentive but let down by product. Contrary to the declaration that the Hawksmoor was in the top 5 world steak houses (Daily Telegraph business 06/08/24) the rib eye was no more than OK. The menu puffs itself up by offering beef dripping fried chips and fries which suggests they are a top end home made product but they were just McCain style frozen chips at £6.50 per portion. Garlic mushrooms had been deep fried whole leaving them watery and flavourless and spinach was over powered by what tasted like nutmeg! Many more steak houses in London to try. In my opinion the Hawksmoor talks the £££ talk but does not deliver. Sorry but very average.

I start with: It is Probably the best Sunday roast I ever had; Like a steak house you can choose your cut of meat and weight and pair it with all the roast sides, a dream, we went for the Chateaubriand and T-Bone, both cooked perfectly, the first one felt a bit dry but probably because it is low-fat cut of meat, but all fixed by the best gravy I ever had, it was delicious! The service was funny and welcoming but a bit confusing. Also Fair price thinking that we had wine as well. Really really recommend it!!

Was really excited to dine here and i was highly disappointed. The quality of the food is very low quality for the high price. I had a ribeye steak and it was very bland and dry. I have had better steak from other London restaurants that are half the price. The chips are just frozen and not made there, which for £6.50 I would expect. The creamed spinach had an overpowering taste of ginger which I couldn’t eat. Overall, do not recommend as it is a rip off!

Disappointing Sunday Roast - overpriced and underwhelming. I’m a big fan of Hawksmoor, love the express menu, so was excited to try the famous Sunday roast. The website prices it at £25, which is already more than usual at most places but it’s Hawksmoor so you expect that. We sit down and the menu shows £28 - so expectation grows. You can see what we got - two small slices of beef, a few tasty veg, but nothing special. The sides of stuffing and cauliflower cheese are delicious, and service was great, but can’t help feeling ripped off at the high price. Worth saying our table loved their desserts. But £28 for a small Sunday roast? Such a shame as usually love Hawksmoor but definitely wouldn’t recommend coming on a Sunday.

The staff was disorganized, uncoordinated, and unprofessional. Dire need of a FoH manager. Simple requests took far too long, wine requests took 3 and 4 requests before they remembered to actually bring the wine, well after the meal was finished. Drink refills were not offered and only provided after several requests. Staff was not knowledgeable or even familiar with wine list. Ordered 3 steaks for the table, Porterhouse, Ribeye, chateaubriand. All three came out at the wrong temp. Steaks were delivered cut from the bone and sliced. Chateaubriand was flavorful but dry, decent texture, temp a little undercooked. Porterhouse was tough and fatty, akin to a all night diner steak. Ribeye was most likely not even a Ribeye. Flavor was lacking, texture was off, overall dry and overcooked. All three steaks were dry. Tomato salad was amazing. Bone marrow was satisfactory but smothered in onions, about a 15:1 ratio. Sourdough bread was very tasty. Atmosphere was very noisy and chaotic. It was difficult to have a conversation or communicate with the server. Without drastic changes to nearly every aspect I would not recommend this establishment. Still trying to figure out how they justify the price.

I don't get the negative reviews on here, which actually nearly caused me to change to another place for dinner. But I didn't. And it was very nice! Staff greeting, staff service all very nice and friendly. The food was good, all very tasty. We both had the potted beef with yorkshires for starter, very nice indeed. One of us had the hake and the other steak for main. Both perfect. I would definitely come here again to eat if I was in the area. The music was a bit too loud for our liking (if you struggle to be heard, it's too loud!) but the staff turned it down a bit and it was more comfortable. I really don't understand loud music in restaurants where generally people chat a lot, but maybe that's because I'm getting old!!

I reserved a table because my wife and I wanted some prime rib. The website cautioned that the smallest piece would be about 500 grams, but that seemed about right for the two of us. Unfortunately, when we tried to order, we were told the smallest piece was around 1,000 grams. That is way too much for us (and 120 pounds sterling). So since we were hungry we ordered other food. I thought the Dover sole was fishy and so didn't eat it. My wife did eat the sole, but didn't think it was very good. She also thought the scallops lacked taste. The fries (frites) were bad. We both thought that asparagus was excellent, and the marrow bones were great. And the Jersey Rock oysters were phenomenal. I love Miyagi (Pacific) oysters, but did not expect to find them here by the Atlantic--and so wonderful.

Who doesn't like a good steak? Well, my wife actually as she's a vegetarian. But I'm dining alone so here's my chance. Hawksmoor are steak specialists with a number of restaurants in London and other UK cities with a very good reputation. The one I visited had a 4.6 star average on Google. I ordered the 400g ribeye (rare) with chips (of course) and creamed lemon and garlic spinach. Chips were OK, spinach was creamed with lemon and garlic but honestly, a ribeye should be marbled but not fatty and have so much gristle. Needless to say, I ate it all.😄 The service was attentive at first but quickly fell away. For instance, the follow up after the food had been served was slow and trying to get a second drink required effort. It was busy but not overly so and there seemed to be plenty of waiting staff so I think it's probably a training issue. The waiting staff were always pleasant so I didn't have any problem with the 12.5% service charge. The prices are premium but the experience less so. If you want a steak house that lifts itself above the average then Hawksmoor might do just fine, if you're after something special or memorable look elsewhere. And maybe, if you're going out for dinner, don't fixate on steak - after all, anybody can salt and flip a steak - even Beefeater. I'm clearly in the minority as it is hard to find a review that isn't 5*

We booked Hawksmoor Knightsbridge after having a lovely experience at the Canary Wharf location a few months ago. Unfortunately this experience was the exact opposite. We booked our table for a roast dinner at 16:30 and arrived at 16:15, we was not seated until 16:45. I am pregnant and upon ordering our roast was told we had 2 options for the beef bloody or well done, we both asked for well done. Both mine and my husbands meat came out bloody even though we asked for well done with mine being a necessity due to being pregnant. We kindly explained the situation to our waiter who happily took the meat back to get it re cooked but the meat came back bloody again. The food was not hot at all. The potatoes tasted like they were reheated. No crisp to it at all. The Yorkshire pudding was dry and cold. I did send an email before resorting to this but no one seemed to be too bothered to respond. We will not be coming here again.

I've thought about this for a few weeks now and have decided I can't let it go, even though I didn't pay for the meal as my dad who was in town from Australia did. I had the 400gm sirloin - rare - and it was categorically the worst steak I've eaten in a restaurant. Tough and tasteless is not a great combination. The staff seemed nice, but they forgot my fries and also forgot my second drink order. Not the end of the world of course, but at £43 a steak without sides, one might expect better,. And the fries that did turn up were the bottom of the barrel kind. I hadn't been to a Hawksmoor in some years but safe to say I won't be going back. Dad liked his dessert, so that's the reason for not giving it 1 star.

Our server was absolutely amazing and so friendly which really made the experience. The food was incredible as always and the lychee martini was delicious. If you’re going you have to try the peanut butter shortbread as it was life changing!

We enjoyed our steaks - service was good. but the place is in the basement and despite the AC it can get quite stuffy. Go for the food but not the place.

Lovely place to have a good meal after a long day. Had booked a table well in advanced after hearing good things about Hawksmoor from the Sorted Food youtube channel. We were not disappointed. Friendly staff, good food, nice atmosphere. Will come back if the opportunity presents itself.

Absolutely fantastic experience, would highly recommend! Got the three course express menu which is amazing value for money, food was fantastic. Really cool atmosphere in the restaurant, and kind and attentive waitstaff.

This is one of my favourite steak restaurants ever. I find the atmosphere to be really good and the service is always on point. In my opinion, they do the best steaks in London.

My husband and I wanted to experience a traditional Sunday roast while in London and Hawksmoor was recommended by one of our food tour guides. I made the reservation for 5:30 because we were visiting museums during the day. We arrived about 5:10 and the hostess told us they only served Sunday roast until 5:00. We were disappointed, but told her we’d still have dinner since we’d heard their meat quality was excellent. She told us she would ask her manager about the possibility of serving us Sunday roast. Minutes later the manager appeared and said he would take care of us and bring us Sunday roast. We were thrilled when we got our plates. The meat was tender and delicious, as were all side dishes. I love a good gravy, and Hawkmoor’s was superb. After enjoying our meal we were approached about dessert and said “no thank you.” The manager appeared at our table and said, “someone told me you did not want dessert. I can’t have that. I’ll surprise you with something. My treat.” Soon a pineapple and chocolate tart with ice cream was placed in front of us. Our dinner at Hawksmoor could not have been better. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food, was traditional as we wanted, and delicious. We highly recommend Hawkmoors at Knightsbridge for lunch or dinner while in Kensington.

Great place, good decor. Service was a little slow at first so dropped a star but not awful. Food is always great at Hawksmoor.

Ribeye steak was cooked to perfection! Silky smooth mash to add. Valentina the bartender gave me amazing attentive service with quick delivery on my Shaky Pete’s. What more can anyone ask for!

I ordered the potterhouse and asked for the steak to be medium rare. The steak looked okay, but when I ate it I found it was extremely burnt and bitter. As a tourist eating steak in the UK for the first time, I initially thought that local steaks were like this. But the more I thought about it, the more wrong it became. It was very likely that we were Asian foreign tourists and the dish was given to us as a failure. It has been more than an hour since I finished eating, and I still have a disgusting bitter taste in my mouth. The key is that it is expensive. I was full of expectations, but the quality turned out to be so poor, bad review! ! !

Quite noisy but a nice space. Steak was great, the only one left was much bigger than we needed. Order as quick as you can as the steak takes 30-45 mins. The sides are way too expensive, loved the garlic mushrooms but literally two come in a tiny dish; at £3.50 each it’s the most expensive fungi I’ve ever had.

We went for Sunday roast and were sorely disappointed. The surroundings are pleasant enough although louder that they should be due to a barrel shaped ceiling that makes it an echo chamber. The food was the real issue. The roast was cut with the grain making the meat stringy and tough. The roast potatoes were so over cooked and dry I had difficulty cutting them with my steak knife! Much of my beef was not edible, and I had to remove much while chewing which is incredibly uncomfortable to have to do in a restaurant. Cutting beef against the grain is like Cooking 101! We left hungry for lack of decent food to eat and our bill was 75 pounds. Avoid this place. We would have enjoyed decent bangers and mash more than this overpriced, over-hyped “meal”.

Attended for an after work function catering for 15 people. The communication and information prior was clear and concise and following attendance the food was absolutely amazing. All attendee's commented on how great the food was an overall it is definitely highly recommended. We look forward to visiting again and thank you for your great hospitality.

Superb all round steakhouse experience, good wine pairing, the spot belly pork, rib eye and fillet all fantastic. Mac n Cheese and Vietnamese oysters stood out! Highly recommend, it’s pricey.

The prawn salad was phenomenal and well presented. The beef was has an enormous serving portion, cooked to order and perfectly juicy. The atmosphere was very posh- there was live jazz music and a singer

We both had the pie & mash bowl with 1/2 beef gravy & 1/2 “liquor” (a greenish gravy) & we loved it. The owner was very personable and proud of the reputation she’s built over the decades. It was the best local fare we had in London and also the most affordable meal during our stay. But bring CASH. No cards are accepted.

Recomendable
