Haven Cafe offers a friendly welcome and freshly prepared food with unprecedented views of this lovely cove. The cafe's coffee and tea are as good as its quality food, though it is quite pricey especially if you're feeding a family whilst on holiday. (£8.95 for a crab sandwich is the most we've paid for similar fresh produce anywhere in the UK.)n.b. Public parking is close by though there's no on-site toilet facilities so you have to use the community-maintained public ones across the road.Nevertheless, the Haven Cafe is definitely worth a visit.

Before commenting on the Haven, you have to acknowledge that this is a lovely spot. Rugged coastline, spectacular views, challenging walks. Not overly popular even in high season as access to low tide sand is across tricky marbled, black and white boulders, so whilst it may be a good choice for families with younger children, it may not be their first choice on this coastline, as it takes a bit more effort to utilise the location. There are lovely cliff walks to the west, rewarded by classic north Devon cliff top views, and to the east a walk up to the cliff top overlooking the bay.Facilities consist of two cafes and a pub, and although we have used both cafes, and they are both excellent, we prefer the Haven as we visit all year round and as well as the outside tables, they have a larger internal eating area on days with wet and cold weather. Both though are spectacular in good weather. There is a good sized car park between both cafes. The only toilets for both cafes is a utilitarian block across the road, but it is perfectly serviceable. We have taken our visitors here and never had a meal that was not preceded with the word "Wow" as you order from the menu something that appears straight forward and it arrives with a mixed salad, bean salad, coleslaw, mushroom ratatouille, and more and leaves you regretting the fact that you had a good breakfastYou wonder how many crabs perished to make the crab sandwich as it is stuffed full with brown and white crab meat and is absolutely delicious. Home made pies and pasties are featured on the blackboard but they can run out over lunchtime so if you go on an afternoon they may be sold out.For younger visitors, and those young at heart they have a separate ice cream shop adjoining, as well as beach toys, balls, bucket and spades etc, and some gift items. For a day out Crackington Haven is a lovely spot to stop on a tour from Bude, Widemouth Bay, coast road to Crackington and on to Boscastle and Tintagel but after Widemouth Bay these are really restricted width roads and in high season, be prepared for lots of stopping and pulling into passing places, but don't miss out on it as it is certainly very special

Lots of food to choose from. Pizzas are great. Ok it's not cheap, but then there is only one other option so understandably they have a captive audience.Last year we had great service. This year I feel the only thing that let the place down today was the lady behind the counter. We paid our first ever visit to Crackington Haven this week, a tiny little village with a gorgeous beach in north Cornwall. It was late on a lovely sunny day, so we sat on the outside tables of the Haven Cafe and had a cream tea.The cream tea was lovely, and the cafe has a great location near the little beach, so you can sit and look out at the sea while you eat and drink. The cafe also serves excellent home made flapjacks (including one of my personal faves - with jam in the middle and a yoghurt topping). The service was very friendly, and the Haven cafe is well worth a stop if you are either visiting or passing through this lovely village. Blow the cobwebs away with a stroll on the beach and then dive in or sit outside the Haven for warm scones and tea or coffee. They are served with jam and clotted cream. The scones and cream are delicious shame about the jelly jam which is tasteless. Came in here to escape the beating sunshine as the family swam in the sea nearby. Ordered a bacon sandwich for which the server was very apologetic when it arrived, as it was a roll rather than sliced bread. She needn't have worried, that was probably the nicest bacon roll I've ever had! Also ordered a bowl of chips and a pot of tea. All very polished and very nice indeed. Sat and read the cafe paper, drank tea in a very relaxed and spotlessly clean in this well appointed seaside cafe. What's not to like?Prices are not cheap, a shade over £4 for a bacon roll but it was very generous portion and came with a little salad. It's very much a seasonal place perched by a remote beach in the middle of nowhere, and on balance it was a good experience I'd happily repeat. Well recommended.
