Best Indian food in the Newcastle area - nothing like a typical curry house. Book online to select your time for eating: despite what the online booking form says, you do not need to order your food selections in advance. Staff excellent, but head waiter on this visit lacked charm. Food and drink is reasonably priced, but check your bill carefully. On this occasion, the deposit I had paid was not deducted from the bill. Querying this brought no apology from the head waiter who seems uninterested in customers. On a previous visit, my bill included all the items we had ordered but also added the cost of a set meal for two! Don't be put off by that - go and enjoy.

We had been to Haveli on previous visits and the food and service where exceptional this time however I was really disappointed with the service in the restaurant the staff did not seem to be trained at all although they were polite. We ordered drinks prior to the meal and they took ages to appear. We ordered food and this was very tasty but I find it difficult to believe that one small bowl of rice would suffice two people we ordered another which came straight away which was good. We ordered wine with the meal and this was not acknowledged the head waiter came again to ask what wine we had ordered when it arrived the waiter simply put it on the table and said there’s your wine . I was very surprised that he didn’t open the wine and offer a taste but by this time I just accepted that this was now the normal. In our last visit this restaurant was deemed Michelin star but I noticed on the way out it wasn’t one star anymore which I now understand the reason why. Sorry Haveli but I feel you have become complacent and that now shows.

Absolutely amazing meal here! One of the best Indian meals we’ve ever had. Beautiful flavours, gorgeous tastes and amazing cocktails. We really recommend the cauliflower rice which is so different, no where else does it! And also the butter chicken. Service was also brilliant which is always a plus. Our new favourite!

We were sat at a badly scratched table & handed grubby menus that needed a wipe. The food arrived, which was mediocre at best. Ladies’ loo without a lock with overflowing bin. Also, another overflowing bin visible behind the bar. Poppadoms good. Beautiful restaurant. Attentive staff.

Excellent all round. Maintaining (and exceeding!) the high standards of Tyneside Indian Restaurants which for over 70 years have enhanced the local cuisine. This is one of the best restaurant experiences I have had recently, a credit to the creative management and chefs and the caring expertise of the diligent staff team. Thank You Haveli we will return soon!

disappointing food. Lacked flavour and spice despite asking for extra. The Currys were too watery for my taste. Lamb chops were an excellent bit of meat but again lacking flavour The service was great, and the decor nice but you can find a better curry elsewhere.

My wife and I went to Haveli restaurant Ponteland last night for a Valentine's evening. This included a special valentine tasting menu. The food was fantastic, we ate and enjoyed everything on our table. They have a fantastic wine menu, part of which is a selection of low alcohol wines. The restaurant has recently been awarded a Michelin BIB award last week. The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The price was very reasonable and on arrival we both received a glass of prosecco and my wife received a red rose. We'll definitely be going back and I strongly recommend that if you're local or in the area to give it a visit. 5 star.

My wife and I went to a valentine's evening at Haveli Ponteland last night. On arrival my wife and I were given a glass of prosecco each on arrival and my wife got a red rose. There was a special valentine tasting menu. The food was fantastic and my wife and I ate and enjoyed everything on the menu, of which there was 4 courses. My wife really enjoyed the wine selection, there was a choice of low alcohol wines which she thoroughly enjoyed. Haveli have just been awarded a prestigious Michelin BIB award. The service was fantastic with nothing too much for the friendly staff. We will be going again and I would advise anybody that lives locally or are in the area to go along and eat there. A 5 star evening.

Many visits and usually excellent. However, this recent visit can't compare with those throughout the last few years.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of trying some Indian dishes , and I must say it was one of the most disappointing culinary experiences I've had in a long time.

Food outstanding 😋. Best meats used and drinks and cocktail fabulous 😍 10% surcharged is already on your total bill never asked to agree to it and always left a cash tip on top. But now I know .

I regret to express my dissatisfaction with the taste of the product, despite the distinct appearances of the dishes, there was a noticeable lack of variation in taste. This similarity was unexpected and could be disappointing for those anticipating diverse flavors. Individuals seeking an authentic Indian culinary experience may find themselves let down.

Absolutely loved the experience. You can tell it’s real food and good for you. I felt uplifted after eating there and wanted to run home I had so much energy. I know it’s sounds odd, but I always eat real food and can tell if I’ve eaten real food or processed stuff. I’ll be back.

Amazing lamb rack starter, then we had a prawn and chicken dish which were both very flavoursome. Would highly recommend and the staff were very helpful and friendly too.

Our suspicions started when the restaurant was less than half full on a Saturday evening. The service was appalling, we waited over 40 min for starters and only compensated with replenished popadoms with no dips offered. We waited 15min for drinks and when it finally arrived, we had to send the cocktail back to be remade because it was bland. A fresh cocktail was not made. When the cocktail returned, it contained less contents than what was sent back. We had to ask for more drinks whilst 4-5 staff stood vacantly staring into space around the restaurant. The food was average and not worth £45pp. Reading other comments my understanding this place has collapsed since new ownership and become a distance memory of a good place to eat.

Amazing restaurant. Very friendly staff and amazing food. Would seriously recommend to anyone looking for a nice evening of dining. Ideal for a date, business meal or just wanting a take a way. Can't recommend enough. Thank you for making my dining experience pleasurable and memorable. Will definitely be back more. Must have been a dozen times already.

I recently dined at Haveli Restaurant and had a fantastic experience. The Indian cuisine they serve is top-notch, and the quality of the food was outstanding. The flavors were rich and authentic, and I particularly enjoyed Lamb Chops. The ambiance was pleasant, and the staff provided excellent service. I highly recommend Haveli for a delightful Indian dining experience.

This is such a shame as we want our local India restaurant to be good but it’s overpriced and below standard for service. The restaurant itself is not traditionally Indian and more like a canteen environment. Unbelievably the staff are lovely but don’t seem to have any idea about customer service and stand around looking vacant, even when you have no drinks! The food isn’t actually bad, I’m not saying it’s great but it’s edible and not greasy, the issue is that I feel it’s expensive and doesn’t wow you. The best thing I can say about this place is that it’s the best Indian in Ponteland, although this isn’t a huge compliment as the competition is complete rubbish. I don’t think we will come back any time soon, we would prefer to pay extra for a taxi and go to Jashn in Swalwell, you can’t beat it.

The restaurant has changed owners and the current one would not be recognised by Michelin. The service is dreadful. Slow and no idea what to do. Very much just a standard Indian restaurant now with overpriced food. It is nowhere near what it was, disappointing.

Staff were friendly and welcoming but not overbearing. Couldnt fault the food, everything was delicious. Large restaurant, unusual decorated ceiling which was very attractive. Place was spotless.

An underwhelming experience. We booked online and we were invited to pre-book our meal. When we arrived we were shown to our table but the service was PAINFULLY slow Everyone of the staff members were very pleasant, but very slow. The mixed platter was tasty , but it took a long time for the main courses to arrive (a prawn Karachi & Rogan Josh) The prawns were tasty , but the lamb was underseasoned We decided not to have coffee or dessert,but there was another delay as they couldn't print the bill!! Again there was a delay when I paid by credit card. I'm not sure if there was just an IT problem, but there seemed to be long delays throughout the night. I felt that a 2 course meal , with 2 non alcohol beers and 11/2 pints of lager was expensive ( almost £110) Nice surroundings, very pleasant staff, but I can't understand the Michelin recommendation

Usually when I order food, I prefer to have it delivered quickly. Haveli does that on point and has the best authentic Indian cuisine I have ever had in Newcastle. The food tastes like you are having it in the restaurant itself. Initially, it seemed the food's expensive but after having it, I realised it was worth the money. A must try restaurant if you are looking for fresh and hot food delivered at your place quickly.

Visited with friends on a Sunday evening, a large restaurant but empty, nicely decorated but no atmosphere. The menu was very limited, and when the food arrived, it was bland and mediocre. Pricing was on the expensive side, and the food was definitely not worth it. Service was poor with a very inexperienced waiter who handed us hot plates with food. Would not recommend or visit again.

This is our local Indian restaurant which has a reputation for high end asian food. We have frequented it since it opened but now we feel it has dropped its' standards largely through lack of staff training. I tried to book a table for 2...

Four of us dined here in April 2023 and it was so good my husband and I are going back for our wedding anniversary at the end of May. The service wasn't super fast but that was good as I never like to feel rushed. The food was delicious and I can highly recommend. Reasonably priced too.

Waiter handed plates to us rather than placing on table. Poppadoms very small and broken. Pickle tray three choices each very runny and poor tasting. Chicken tikka contained no tikka'd meat, only plain chicken. Korma tasted bad. Mushroom rice however great. Service charge added without authority and assumed! Gross, and I mean gross overcharge for the quality and quantity. ' would not return.

Really nice restaurant with excellent service. Food is amazing and the staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Good selection of drinks at the bar and a comfortable environment to sit in. Would highly recommend for any occasion with any company.

Visited this restaurant last Friday in a group of 7 very nice food. Bill charges sircharge already on the bill total at 10% this optical but not told about it till checking our bill on Saturday morning a very expensive when we also left a £10 cash tip. Returned Saturday 4th Mar h 2023 with my husband at 6pm had a lovely set menu at £29.95p each With lots of choices. Again very nice relaxing place and settings. Very cold asked them to turn the air com off and put the heat on. Again bill came in a box with chocolate. Surcharge again 10% of our bill £105.50p only me drinking barcardi and bottle coke x 2 charged for 3 got removed from bill. Also asked to remove the £9.20p surcharge ( optical but not told about it from staff, manager) which is wrong. Left a cash tip again on the table whilst leaving the restaurant. May be a while we return. Check bills before paying the bill. ( hidden extras etc). Overcharging drinks and sircharge. 1st bowl was chipped badly and told them straight in the bin without washing it and putting back out to serve again.

Regularly use their takeaway service as we have two young children so it works well to have a lovely meal in the comfort of our own home. Good quality Punjabi cuisine; a credit to the local area and a real Saturday evening treat. Good veggie options as well.

Absolutely brilliant. Popped in for a takeaway chatted with the host about what we like and got some super suggestions and some customisation. Absolutely superb.

From booking online to leaving the restaurant, we were impressed by the staff, surroundings and food. Excellent quality and good value for money. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back!

Recently relaunched restaurant with updated menu and big push on new 5 DAY OPENING TIMES. Last Wednesday was great. This Wednesday we arrive and the place is shut!!! We went elsewhere for our meal locally. Shame......Great restaurant and staff. Poor when it comes to reliability....

I am now looking forward to regular visits to Haveli , a Restaurant that ticks all of the boxes for me and is without any doubt a lovely dining experience in a great location . Went for a family celebration. Hadn't been for quite a while. We had a great night. The place looks brand new inside and very clean. Service was excellent and so was the food. Very reasonable prices too. Will be back again soon.

Visited this restaurant many times ordered a takeaway collected on time really disappointing bhaji hard food cold live 2 minutes from restaurant appreciate it is difficult for restaurants collecting but we were on time for the food so it should have been at least hot!

Very high quality and very well cooked food from Haveli. Probably the best I've had. Only recently moved into the area and this will definitely become our "go too" for Indian food. Cant wait to try more of the menu!

We’ve been going to the restaurant and having takeaways since it opened. We appreciate that current circumstances mean a limited menu, what we ordered was fine and the ordering and collecting procedure went very well. However, it would be nice to have one or two more interesting rice dishes - I’m perfectly capable of cooking plain basmati rice at home. There were three types of naan bread on offer. One or two less carbohydrate heavy side dishes to go with the good selection of mains would be good too.

It was so great to have such a lovely takeaway in the midst of these terrible times. The service was very efficient, booked and paid on line, chose a collection slot, then had a text to tell me the exact time. I simply parked outside and someone came out and popped the neatly packaged and labelled food into the boot of my car.The food itself was great - not exactly the same quality as in the restaurant but very close. Only one thing to be aware of is that the Nan bread had cooled a bit by the time I got home so could do with a couple of minutes on the oven. A thought to the restaurant - I would have loved to offer a tip when my food was popped into the car but I wanted to avoid contact and also have no cash these days because every thing is done by card. So maybe you could include the option to add a tip when ordering on line.Good luck and thanks for what you’re doing. Alan

The food was nice but nothing to write home about. Portions were ok but prices high, especially for veggie options. £12 is excessive for a veg curry something that’s not amazing. The decor was lovely but not enough soft furnishings to soak up the noise so really loud when full.Good service.I wouldn’t return.

Very good but not fine dining.We ate here on a busy Saturday night and the place was pretty noisy so not easy to have a conversation. The service was ok but certainly nothing exceptional, quite a few young and inexperienced staff. The food was really good and we all enjoyed every dish.

Booked a table for a party of 8 adults and two children on a Saturday night a week before the event. On the day I was due to attend the restaurant they called me to confirm the booking still stood, which I thought was very good of them as I was meaning to call them myself to reconfirm the booking. On attending the restaurant at 6pm it was fairly quiet. The staff were very good and attentative to our needs, which varied since we were a large party. The decor is really nice and the music, whilst quite modern, is not too loud. The food is absolutely amazing and some of the best Indian food I have eaten in a restaurant. We went for the street food meat platter and veg platter for starters. Portions were decent. For main we selected butter chicken, which had a nice sweet taste to it, chicken madras which was spicy and lamb rogan josh. The lamb was very soft and not too chewy. When we got to the restaurant it was quiet but it soon started getting busy towards the 7pm mark, therefore I highly recommend you book if planning to visit on a Saturday night, or get there early doors (Haveli opens at 5pm). Only criticism is get the door on the gents stall toilet fixed as your punters may need to use it if they order a vindaloo! Thanks to Haveli for making a special occasion very memorable!

We visited for an early dinner on New Years day.Very disappointed with overall experience. Some of the mains were served cold. (No hotplates on offer to keep food warm.)The choice of desserts was extremely limited. A mixture of stodgy puddings and some ice cream the only offers.The service was below what we would expect at the price with staff not thoroughly trained. (They should not have to stretch across tables where there is plenty of room.)Much room for improvement!Derek Appleby.

Poor average. Expected something a little better for the price. Will not return. Better quality restaurants in Throckley and Fenham.

Ate here on Thursday night and it was superb, the food is amazing and the staff very friendly and polite. My favourite is the Goan King Prawn which I have to admit I always have, my husband is more adventurous but always enjoys everything he gets. Great restaurant.

Very calm and chilled atmosphere. The decor is beautiful. Staff are attentive and polite. Food is good quality. The street food sharing platter makes a welcome change to the standard popadoms (but you can still have those of you want!) Definitely recommend

To preface this review I will start by saying this is the 5th time I have been and as always the food was 10/10 absolutely gorgeous. First class food and the best indian cuisine I have had anywhere.

Enjoyed a beautiful meal here last Tuesday night. Started with poppadums and various chutneys. Next Amristari fish and it was gorgeous. For mains I had Karahi curry with prawns and rice and it was so tasty. My friend had a vegetarian dish that I cannot recall the name of but she enjoyed it too. Service was efficient. Nice wine. Not cheap but we felt it was worth it for the quality.

Staying overnight at Newcastle airport for early morning flight. Needed to eat and did not fancy the metro into Newcastle. Decided on the Haveli in nearby Ponteland. Only a few minutes in the car or if you are drinking there are, of course, plenty of taxi's available.

We enjoyed a quick pit stop here one evening and were pleasantly surprised with the menu. Not so many of the traditional dishes but staff are happy to align your tastes to their menu, which was helpful.

Eat here at least once a month. Great food and staff always happy to help with the choices.Love the chicken Karahi.

We have been visiting Haveli in Ponteland on a regular basis since it opened. In the early days, it very much specialised in authentic Indian food, but has over the years added some favourite British style curries to suit all palettes. I should at this point mention the fact that my daughter in law is Indian and she rates it very highly. Since I have sampled her mother's cooking, that is no mean achievement.

Excellent food. Loved the lamb biryani and the dal makhani. The tamarind dip with the papadums is to die for. My friend had the railroad lamb which I tried and was delicious. They made a very mild vegetarian curry for my wife which she loved. Great service despite the restaurant being full on a Saturday night with plenty of take always being picked up.

If you like Indian cuisine you must try here. The menus is superb, nice hearty but extremely tasty dishes. The flavours are amazing. The chicken is cooked perfectly and the fish dishes are second to none. Service is fantastic also. The spinach palak chicken dish is out of this world. And the monkfish curry is excellent. Fantastic place and top marks to the chef.

Haveli is fantastic- real Indian food cooked to perfection, we have never had a bad meal here. Staff are very helpful and take their time to serve you and never rushed. A true credit to ponteland!

Having visited this restaurant many time before, we were looking forward to our Saturday curry night at Haveli. God knows what has happened, but both the service and the food has gone down hill. Yes it was busy on arrival, but we had to prompt the waiter to ask if our table was ready. Yes it was, but the staff were just not tuned in.

A very exciting and thrilling experience on both the take out and sit in menus. It was a quick service and very professional. All at an ok price

Had great expectations from a Michelin starred restaurant. The starters were over priced. The main course was tasteless and the gravy for all dishes tastes the same. Please don’t be fooled by the decor and the posh locality.
