I have not eaten here, but by the reviews it looks amazing! however, I have left 3 messages over a 2 week period to book a table and no reply - not even to say there is no availability. Online booking was unavailable, and no email that I can see to either. I understand they may not be open everyday but I rang on a Thursday, Friday and a Tuesday.

I wish I was more eloquent to describe this delightful experience. Everything is a gorgeous fun-and-happy-love-bomb of flavours. Definitely worthy of a Michelin star. Reservations only and so glad we were finally able to book. Bravo Stephen, Martyn and team. Can’t wait to return.

This was our second time at the Haus of S&M and it was as fantastic as the first time. The atmosphere and service are great and the food is to die for! We’re big foodies and eat out a lot. The Haus of S&M is the best food we’ve had in Scarborough - it’s fresh, unique and every dish is delicious! Can’t recommend enough! If you like a quirky, irreverent, fun evening with amazing food then make sure you go!

An absolute gem of a restaurant with a heavily South-East Asian influenced menu. We had Moo Ping, Tempura Prawn, Sate Gai, Gyoza and various other delights. All up there with the best I've ever had (and I'm pretty obsessed). To pile joy upon joy, the cocktails are incredible, with genuinely original takes on the classics - little hints of SE Asia reflecting the food without overwhelming the flavours while kicking like a mule (not an easy balancing act). The cherry on the cake was the warm welcome and the quirkily debauched humour running through everything. Lovely lovely people knocking out banging food and drink with heart and soul. If that ain't your thing, know that we can never be friends. To find this in Scarborough on our last night was an unexpected treat, Haus of S&M is an oasis of culinary excellence and hedonistic perfection in a town that, let's be honest, isn't always blessed with great dining experiences. Thank you! We will be back! Xxx

This hidden gem is exactly what Scarborough has been crying out for - every single moment of your trip is so special and worth every penny. On the day of your booking you get a text message with your secret entry code to the venue. Once inside you are transported to a mash-up of Soho in the 1960s and the vibrant streets of Bangkok. The interior took our breath away - if you want some photos for your Insta account then you won't be disappointed ... and I don't normally say this on a restaurant review but a trip to the loo is an absolute must!! The cocktails are out of this world - you can take a gamble and order blind, or get the menu and choose your tipple the old-fashioned way! Our favourite was probably the Haus version of a Long Island Iced Tea which came in a cute teapot and served in the kind of glasses you would find in your Nanna's best cabinet (you know the ones which were only for show!) ... We also had a soft spot for the Unholy cocktail which came with a glowstick and some candy floss - this earned it the nickname Grotbags on our table! This restaurant isn't all fur coat and no knickers though ... there is substance alongside all this style. The food does not disappoint!! The menu is Asian with dishes from Thailand, Korea, Vietnam and Japan - the friendly staff are really happy to talk you through the dishes. I am a veggie and my partner is a pescatarian and we were both taken care of. We had tempura to start and for our mains I went for Tofu Yakisoba Noodles and my other half had the Bibimbap - which he has been raving about since our visit - we also shared a delicious tofu and sriracha starter as a side dish. We came away stuffed and satisfied - honestly this was some of the best Asian food we have ever had. DE-LISH-US!!! We are lucky to have this venue almost on our doorstep and we will definitely be back! The Haus of S&M is run by Stephen and Martyn (S&M geddit?) and they have created a beautiful, quirky, tasty and spicey little venue which is the perfect 'darker little sister' to their Eat Me Cafe across the road in the Stephen Joseph Theatre. Book your table and enjoy your trip to the Haus ... Pre-booking is essential.

Booked this as was intrigued to find out what the experience would be. Took my husband without telling him anything. Loved the secrecy of the access code being sent on the day and from the moment we entered we knew it was going to be a top night! The staff are so welcoming that you feel that you are visiting friends. The food is amazing. Our only wish is that we could’ve fitted in more! Sharing plates are generous and the chicken satay and spring rolls out particular favourites. The bespoke cocktails are a great idea. We stuck with a shared cocktail served in a teapot. It was fabulous! We both loved the restaurant and can’t wait to visit again. Definitely for us the best restaurant we’ve been to in a while and the food is on a level with the high end restaurants in bigger cities.

If you love Asian inspired food and yummy cocktails then this is the place for you. Hidden away on Hanover Road - you are sent a code by text/email before you enter. Once you have entered the code you are transported into a neon filled room with lots of trinkets and treasures. Head to the toilet and here you will find lots of dressing up props and some interesting things to keep you company whilst you do your “business”. The staff are so polite and it’s just a great all round experience. The spring rolls are to die for ! And the edamme is a great starter! So many things to offer. You will literally want to go back time and time again.

Fabulous food - we had a variety of Asian inspired small plates to share, and our only problem was deciding what not to order as we wanted all of them! Each one was delicious. The vegetable tempura, gyoza, fried chicken with pancakes and satay chicken were gorgeous. As - incredibly - was the tofu! Rare indeed a man who can make two non vegetarians bargain over who gets the last piece of tofu. A list of dishes really doesn't do it justice. All I can say is - if you like the Asian dishes at Eat Me Cafe at the SJT (which is also excellent and run by the same guys) , then you will LOVE what they do at Haus of S&M. It's done with extra sparkle, and a twist. And talking of the twist.... that cheeky little title and the window display.. If you think that might be too "dark" for you, please don't let it put you off! Inside it's all done with a lovely gentle British humour alongside - Kenneth Williams chatting to you (on tape obviously. Sadly no longer available) in the loo, which is decked out as the artists changing room, and we didn't even need our torches to read the menu as there are fantastic table lights. The service is superb. A small but slick and super friendly team. Oh yes. And the cocktails are fab too! Do go - you'll need to book in advance as they are only open on Fridays and Saturdays. And if you book, make sure you turn up, as the restaurant is tiny and you'll be robbing somebody else of the chance for a fabulous meal at what is rapidly becoming one of the most prized restaurants in Scarborough.

From booking on line, receiving our entry code before arrival we had high expectations, these were exceeded. A really friendly welcome on entering a totally unique dining experience. The cocktails were definitely a must and the food was fantastic. We definitely will be visiting again, very soon.

From the pre-arrival text giving you the secret code to get in, to the moment you walk out, nothing fails to delight. As you enter, you have to go through a couple of doors so the anticipation is immense and then you are greeted by the friendly staff and a dark, moody and imaginatively set restaurant. We where met like old friends and seated before immediately being given the menus, some water and popcorn to keep us going.....The service was fast and helpful ensuring all of our questions, like portion sizes so we didn't over order, where answered, the cocktails where tasty and the food was outstanding.....The menu is cleverly limited which means everything is done well....and certainly not overpriced...The concept is something that Scarborough has been missing and it is definitely something that could be expanded and played around with making this restaurant experience even more theatrical than it already is.....Loved it and hope it is well received in Scarborough and wish them every success with this new venture....

An amazing new venture for the Eat Me guys. Great atmosphere, surroundings are fun and entertaining but still with a feel of old Eat Me. Our friends sampled the brilliant choice of cocktails, we had our old faithful Buddah Beer. The food is just amazing,...

We accidently discovered this cafe while hunting around Whitby for something more "homely". The staff were very accommodating for our party of 7. They ensured we got seated and looked after us all the step of the way. The food was plentiful, tasty, and very reasonably priced. There was a good selection that suited both adults and children. If you want to avoid the mass of marauding tourists and seaguls. Take a stroll up the hill to Stokers.

We stumbled across this place whilst wandering around the old town. It’s near the swing bridge on Grape Street Small menu so we tried most of it - everything we had was great. Loved the kimchi dumplings and the sushi. The bowl of delight which I forget the name of was delicious as was the sweet chilli chicken. All freshly cooked and tasty! We will return to try what we missed!! It was very reasonably priced, friendly service and can’t recommend enough.
