Lovely warm welcome and very accommodating with special requirements. Lovely mince pies, the coffee was brilliant too with Alpro soya and oat milk options for the dairy free needers. Great spot for people watching and friendly vibes :)

The facade and entrance to this cafe are in equal measure quirky traditional and architectural gems! I ordered flatwhite with poached eggs on toast with extra bacon. Flatwhite did not have two measures...or the coffee is not great. The poached eggs came over done and hard (done in microwave I think). Toast was very good and the bacon was thick and tasty. So mixed review, barista training is required as well as better quality beans. Staff friendly and professional. Don't use a microwave it's not very "chefy"!

Been coming here every Saturday since it opened. Sandra and Paul and the staff are wonderful, very friendly and like to interact with the customers. Coffee is lovely, always stop in for a takeaway if I’m in town for an appointment. Food is of a high quality, and menu has expanded to include ice cream. Caters for Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Vegan and Vegetarian. Highly recommend.

The service is always great. Staff are super friendly, warm and welcoming. But the coffee really is terrible. This is only the second time I visited. The first time was when it was newly opened, so I thought I’d return and give them another chance. The coffee had no crema and was murky and watery with no taste. It is as if the coffee machine isn’t being cleaned properly, or unfiltered water is being used. I specifically ordered a strong coffee, so asked for it to be re-made. But it still came out the same. Scones were ok, but not fresh (microwaved warm) and we were surprised to get 1 (every other time I’ve had a cream tea, you get 2). Served with Rodda’s, but the jam was low quality ( no fruit in it). I’d return for the lovely service, but not for the coffee, unfortunately.

Coffee was bad. They really need to learn how to make good coffee and use better quality coffee too! Very slow service for very bland below average food. Really disappointing as this could be a really lovely quirky coffee house with its different layout. They need to up their game to compete with Boesti down the road.

Recent new owners. Nice setting, it was loveLy that they are dog friendly and also have a box of toys etc for young children. Service was superb, really friendly. The only downside was the coffee. They need to go on some proper barrista training. They have a nice coffee machine but our coffees were terrible. Watery and hardly any froth. Once they have had barrista training then I’m sure the coffees will be great.

A theme of my eating experiences in Cornwall has been freshness and flavour. Hatters excels in these areas. Located in fascinating property in Fore Street, freshness and flavour are to the fore and lunch was truly excellent. I had a ham and cheese platter which was flawless. Very good ham, wonderful cheese, the freshest, crispest and most varied salad you could imagine, delicious chutney and pickle and fresh, fresh bread enhanced by Cornish butter. I was surprised that there was no table service - you order at the counter - but the place has, perhaps, a (deserved) reputation as it filled up soon after our arrival. To be honest, I thought the service was pretty detached but it was accurate and they had a lot of tables to think about.I would suggest that one toilet is a bit below capacity for a medium-sized restaurant. However, this is a definite place to go for lunch.

I visited Hatters with friends for lunch during the week. The staff were very pleasant welcoming, and efficient. For those who need plenty of daylight, there are tables surrounded on three sides by glass, in what used to be the outfitters display window. This is lovely and bright on the day we visited, but would feel like a greenhouse on a very warm day.The back half of the shop was too dark for our taste, so we sat in the window. The food we had ordered arrived promptly. I had the beef salad, which, given the price, was OK. The salad was colourful, and mostly flavoursome. It came with a sauce in a separate jug. In future, I would try another dish. The one aspect which I would very much like to be different was the level of clatter coming from the kitchen. More than one of my party found this intrusive, and we kept pausing the conversation because we couldn't hear each other clearly. This background noise seems to be a common problem in cafes, in part because soft materials are not generally used to absorb the echo created by the multiple of hard surfaces. This means that all the clattering from work with crockery gets amplified. Conversation can feel like a competition with this noise!

It is great for families.Bad news: The Coffee is mediocre; it is mostly too hot and is a watery espresso. I suspect that the machine needs (re)calibrating at the very least. As for the Watermelon Ice tea...this mostly tastes like sugar syrup, with the watermelon so far removed it must be on holiday. The frozen slice of Watermelon was a nice touch however. On the contrary the teacake was 'ansome, toasted to perfection and served surprisingly quickly!

First the coffee was great, on par with the best I've had, it was creamy and just right for a flat white (lots of places do this drink so wrong). The platter was HUGE and great value for money, you can tell it was prepared that day instead of some soggy salad you get at most places. Could not fault this place, the staff was excellent and attentive, The panini's we had were delicious (Cornish Brie, bacon and cranberry) and the coffee was the best I have tasted. Will be back again.

We popped into Hatters for elevenses during our recent visit to Redruth. What a pleasure to see thriving independent shops on the high street, & not the same faceless high street brands which seem to populate our towns. The coffee shop is cosy & the staff were friendly. The coffee was very good, but I thought the cake was a little dry. However, overall this didn't spoil our visit, & I would recommend.

Hatters has accomodated a group of 9 on a weekly basis for our community project meetings. We have always enjoyed great service, friendly staff and a warm welcome, with a lovely atmosphere where everyone feels relaxed and comfortable. Great value for excellent food and drinks, with a range of home made sweet and savoury options and soups. Last Saturday, when we booked for lunch during a community street theatre performance, June and her team served 25 people in under an hour. Our cold, hungry performers were transformed into happy, satisfied customers! We appreciate Hatters support of the local community and highly recommend you visit. The interior has many beautiful original features and the decor celebrates the history of the area - well worth a trip down memory lane, to a time when going to a cafe was a real treat.

This is a really great place to go if you want just a cup of something or for lunch. We've always had a very warm welcome and the food's really good and reasonably priced. There's always an interesting soup on offer and the sandwiches/paninis are freshly made and delicious. Comfortable seating, especially the sofa at the back which is really cosy. Would highly recommend a visit.

Been coming to the GL for last 8 years whilst holidaying. Its a lovely, local pub with great views. Been recently taken over, bit smarter now, good beers and bar offering and it is worth a visit. BUT

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.

Fantastic find on our day trip to Bude. My husband had a delicious gluten free breakfast (finding somewhere good that's gluten free isn't always easy) and I enjoyed the American pancakes & a cappuccin

Very welcoming, Great ice cream flavours. Especially the Ferrero Roche and Millionaires shortbread. Lady went above and beyond for our dog letting her sit in the shade on a 25 degree day to enjoy her
