Spa is lovely and the treatments were great. Rooms pretty basic but the beds are comfy. Evening meal was delicious. Disappointed to see the breakfast menu is limited and you have to pay extra for a full breakfast given its an expensive place to stay.

AS A SEASONED SPA HOTEL TRAVELLER - I THOUGHT IT MAY BE GOOD TO SEE HOW THIS 4 STAR HOTEL FAIRS FOR A FAMILY. WELL LET ME BE HONEST I AM USED TO TYLNEY HALL (ALSO 4 STAR) IN HOOK - AND JUDGING ON THE INITIAL PICTURES - I THOUGHT I MAY BE OK. LETS START AT THE BEGINNING - I DID ASK FOR A PARKING SPACE NEAR THE FRONT OF THE HOTEL. - NOW TYLNEY HALL PUTS A PROPER STAND WITH YOUR NAME ON IT - I GOT A BOLLARD. MOVING ON - THE SPA ROOMS ARE SMALL CLEAN BUT BASIC. THE TOWLING ROBES AND TOWELS ARE BASIC QUALITY. THE SPA FLIP FLOPS ARE OK FOR A CHILDS FEET. SO WE GO TO THE SPA - I ASKED FOR A DRINK THE STAFF (GIRL) REPLIED "DO YOU HAVE ANY CREDITS??" WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN?? INDOOR SWIMMING POOL IS OK - BUT THE MAJOR DOWNSIDE OF THIS HOTEL IS: 1. THERE IS NO OUTDOOR TERRACE LIKE TYLNEY HALL. SO REALLY NO WHERE TO SIT. THERE IS A COURTYARD NEAR THE SPA MOST OF IT IN THE SHADE AND WITH NO CUSHIONS TO SIT ON. YOU REALLY DONT WANT TO SIT THERE -ORDER A DRINK ? NO CHANCE NO STAFF OUTSIDE. 2. THE BREAKFAST IS BASIC - THERE IS NO FILTER COFFEE AND CREAM AND YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR OWN TEA AND COFFEE FROM A MACHINE(???) (ONE WAS BROKEN) VERY SMALL AREA SO VERY CONGESTED. NO FRESH ORANGE JUICE ITS FROM A BOTTLE. NO PAIN AU CHOCOLAT. FROZEN CROISSANTS. 3. THE DINNER WAS OK - NOTHING LIKE THE GRANDEUR OF TYLNEY HALL - THE WAITER IN BLACK TIE SERVING THE CHATEAU BRIAND AT YOUR TABLE....THE SINGER AT THE GRAND PIANO - YOU WANT TO STAY EAT DRINK - TAKE A BRANDY BY THE OPEN FIRES - HERE YOU WANT TO GET THE BILL AND GO BACK TO THE ROOM. THERE IS NO CHAMPAGNE BY THE GLASS...???? THE MAIN ISSUE IS THAT THIS IS NOT AN OAK LINED 19TH CENTURY MANOR HOUSE SET IN 20 ACRES - ITS BEEN MODERNISED AND SMALL. THERE IS NO RECEPTION JUST ONE DESK. THE SPA ROOM WING HAS BEEN ADDED ON AND ALTHOUGH CLEAN ITS BASIC AND SMALL. OUR ROOMS DID NOT GET A THOROUGH CLEAN - I FOUND THE REMOTE CONTROL IN BETWEEN THE BEDS. THERE ARE CANDLES ON THE TABLES BUT THEY ARE BATTERY OPERATED. . THE CARD ENTRY SYSTEM TO THE ROOMS DIDNT WORK ON ARRIVAL SO I HAD TO COME BACK TO RECEPTION??? THEN THEY AUTO CANCELLED AFTER 24 HOURS - SO HAD TO GO BACK AGAIN TO GET THEM RESET - TERRIBLE. IF THIS PLACE WAS A CAR SALESPERSON - IT WOULD BE A NISSAN QUASHKAI DEALER - POLITE, CLEAN, BORING, AFFORDABLE AND FUNCTIONAL. BUT WHEN YOU ARE USED TO A RANGE ROVER DEALER THEN YOU START TO MISS A LOT OF THINGS. ALSO IN TYLNEY HALL (HOOK) (4 STAR ALSO I CANT BELIEVE IT) YOU DRIVE IN FOR 5 MINUTES UP TO A MANSION - GET GREETED BY A CONCIERGE AND A GOLF BUGGY TO TAKE YOU TO YOUR ROOMS EACH ONE DIFFERENT AND GRANDIOSE. THERE ARE COTTAGES ALSO WITH VICTORIAN BATHS. I WOULD RATE THIS HOTEL AS NO MORE THAN 3 STARS. THE ONLY PLUS POINT IS THAT IT IS 15-20 MILES DRIVE AWAY FROM THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TOWNS I HAVE SEEN. THE FOOD AND QUAINT SHOPS, LOVELY STREAMS AT THESE TOWNS WAS A1. STAFF WILL PASS YOU BUT NOT SAY GOOD MORNING JUST LOOK DOWN.... ITS MORE OF A STOPOVER HOTEL THAT I EXPERIENCED IN PERPIGNAN WHEN I DROVE TO SPAIN. THINK THATS HONEST AND ABOUT IT REALLY.

I recently stayed at this hotel, and unfortunately, the rooms were disappointing. They were outdated, dirty, and in need of maintenance—the view from my window was dreadful- definitely not worth £140. While the manor looks impressive from the outside and in photos, the interior tells a different story. I also visited the spa, where the staff were friendly, but the cleanliness was subpar. I found a bitten-off toenail stuck to my hand while in the jacuzzi, which made me feel physically ill. Upon further inspection, I noticed several more toenails by the side of the jacuzzi, along with hairs stuck to the wall. I wouldn't recommend this place and certainly won't be returning.

The hotel its self I fine, rooms are basic but comfortable. The down side is the bar service. Sometime I have been stood waiting for a drink for 20 min before anyone even turns up behind there. Another issue is food, although taste is not the issue the size of the portions compared to cost is small, it cost me £4 for peppercorn sauce after paying £30 for the steak, however the sauce came in what can only be described as a child's jug from a playset.

Decided to change gym’s based on recommendations from a friend who’s currently a member at Hatherley. Looked online and called in regarding the “free introductory session” only to be told that it isn’t the case. I would have to pay a one off £25 charge for a 2 hour session which would then later be deducted if I decide to sign up. Not exactly an ideal situation when you’ve had a recommendation off of an existing member. Considering the membership I was looking at was over £1,000 annually plus the sign up fee of £150. I wouldn’t expect this sort of proposition as a way to try the facilities before I decide to sign up. I have already cancelled my existing gym membership with intent of changing but now reconsidering my options as I didn’t like the attitude of “the manager” who I did not get to speak to. Maybe consider updating your website if you’re not offering this service.

The reception staff were fine , the rooms were fine , the spa was fine , the massage was fine , the public toilets were good , the waiters and waitresses were good , especially the more mature women on at breakfast really good , chamber maids all said good morning and were pleasant, Would not have made any negative comments as price was reasonable However the steaks were cooked really well by the chef , unfortunately they were very tough , I tried a burger as an alternative but I have to say it’s the worst I’ve had , I asked were they locally sourced but I was told the steaks come from a catering supplier but the burgers were kitchen made , this was untrue I later found out they were also bought in , How the chef can work with produce which is obviously cheap and of poor quality, I feel sorry as it’s not their fault I did eventually get these taken off the bill after some difference of opinion with the manager , but ended up going hungry Which spoilt what was a pleasant stay COST CUTTING doesn’t always work !

We did not use the rooms only a function room. This was ideal for our needs. The staff supporting this room were polite and helpful. The carpark could do with a little work as there were some sizable puddles across walk areas. We loved the location, close to sizable town/cities but with a real rural feel.

Stayed here as part as a company trip. The welcome in the hotel was amazing, the rooms were beautiful there wasn’t anything we could fault on the hotel side of things. However when we entered the spa this is where things started to go down hill. The spa manager was really welcoming however the rest of the staff treated us differently to the rest of the other clients visiting the spa, we had paid an extra fee to stay longer so we didn’t expect to be treated so poorly. The lady at reception reluctantly gave us robes after we asked for them so we could sit and we could grab a snack in the cafe. The woman at reception made a comment towards us telling us to “make sure we bring them back” implying we wouldn’t give them back! Again we were met with the same reluctant attitude in the cafe, totally understanding there’s reservations that needed to be catered for first but we found that the way we were treated put a dampener on the whole experience. We found ourselves leaving a little earlier than expected because we felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome. We’re not sure if it’s because we are a bit younger than the clientele they usually welcome but either way we paid extra so we expected to be treated with the same respect.

Nice place to stay for one night with my wife while visiting our youngest son in Bristol. It is an old building so allowances have to be made regarding certain things in the room but the staff were all really good. We even got a room upgrade after say the view in our first room was not so good! Did not dine there except for breakfast which was okay. Also we did not use the spa facilities which were inclusive with the room.

My husband and I booked the New years eve ball, as we did it last year and we thought we would do it again. We were given the Bridal Suite although we have been married for 35 years. The room was extremely spacious and the bed huge. The bathroom was luxurious but extremely cold, the thermostat for the underfloor heating was damaged so we informed a manager and she put a radiator in the bathroom. It heated it up slightly but the floor was so cold, I decided tomorrow I would go back home, as we lived locally, and get some comfy slippers. That evening went for dinner, service not great, as our meals arrived before our drinks, we had to ask for our drinks, eventually came but food almost finished. Choice of good wines not there. During the 1st night I went to the bathroom, no loo paper on the roll and no spare loo rolls. Totally wrong and had to use tissues. So back home got a couple of Cushell toilet rolls and and my warm fluffy slippers. Sorted. The Hotel could get an extra star if they improved the service, as the food is very good, and the NY eve ball was fab.I suggest you gt a Maitre D gor your restaurant, Then service should improve.

The staff are welcoming and accommodating. The service is inconsistent but polite, but the food 2 nights in a row has been consistently poor. Overpriced for what it is, and generally bad.

I recently worked at Hatherley Manor to photograph a surprise proposal and absolutely loved the rooms, the spa and the grounds. Everything was so well kept and attended to, the staff were so helpful and showed me all the spots I could take my couple to. The room where the proposal happened was bright, clean and quiet. It is a beautiful setting for any event! I hope to be back here soon!

Stayed here for one night and all the staff were super lovely, always happy to help. The room we had, Beams, was really nice too. Only issue was the TV wouldn't connect to the Internet but not the end of the world. The spa had everything you'd want and the breakfast was fab. Would definitely stay again

1 night stay, hotel was better than expected as some reviews mentioned the hotel needing renovations so we must have been put in a relatively newly renovated room as no issues at all Spa facilities was good, and breakfast was very nice - no cooked breakfast but a small selection of cooked foods available to order. The EV chargers advertised as being available did not work so I had to drive elsewhere to charge at an expensive rate so not impressed on that front. Overall it was a good spa hotel, good value for money.

I stayed here for the 2 night spa break for a milestone birthday. The two spa treatments were great and I would return for these. The afternoon tea was nice and I'd be happy to have it again as part of a package. The rest of it was really disappointing - a room on night 1 with a bed so uncomfortable I had to sleep on top of the duvet and use the provided dressing gown as a blanket. The jacuzzi was luke warm on day 1 while the pool was fine, the pool was visibly emptier of water and very cold on day 2 while the jacuzzi was now fine. The fish I ordered for my birthday meal was so undercooked I had to return it to be cooked further (which I hate doing) and was then told by the waitress that the chef was a trainee. If that's the case, don't put a trainee chef on a Friday night dinner service if they don't know how to cook items on the menu, especially something as basic as piece of white fish. The receptionists were friendly and apologetic, they asked me to email them with this feedback and that they would get back to me, which I did and they didn't. So not a good experience all round.

Outstanding Service from Graham, But Disgraceful Kitchen Behavior from Alex! We had the pleasure of being served by Graham, and I cannot praise him enough. From start to finish, he was amazing—attentive, friendly, and genuinely helpful. He made sure we were well looked after, checked in regularly, and provided excellent service with a great attitude. He is truly an asset to the team, and if it weren’t for him, this visit would have been a total disaster. Unfortunately, the kitchen experience was a complete disgrace, mainly due to the so-called chef, Alex. He was shouting so loudly that both customers and staff could hear him, creating an incredibly uncomfortable atmosphere. What shocked us the most was overhearing him say, “I’m sorry, it’s not my fault they’re fat and hungry.” This kind of disrespect towards paying customers is beyond unacceptable. On top of that, he was shouting at the staff and arguing when we pointed out that our burgers were raw. Cooking a burger properly is basic kitchen practice, yet somehow, this seemed beyond him. Instead of fixing the issue, he became defensive and dismissive. To make matters worse, kitchen hygiene standards were clearly being ignored. We noticed that chefs with beards were not wearing beard nets, which is a basic food safety requirement. This is not only unprofessional but also unhygienic. While Graham’s service was 10/10, the kitchen staff—especially Alex—were the complete opposite. We will be sending a formal complaint to head office because no customer should have to experience rudeness, poor hygiene, and undercooked food in what is supposed to be a welcoming dining environment. Management seriously needs to address these issues before it ruins the restaurant’s reputation.
