Hadn't been here before, personally I wouldn't return. Three of us went, my two friends had rib of beef which wasn't cheap, the waitess on ordering it told us they couldn't guarantee meat to fat ratio and it can sometimes be chewier due to a higher fat content! It was suppose to come with Kale, no Kale was on the plate, to which we were told its seasonal, they should just put seasonal veg on the menu. The mashed potatoe was luke warm. I had fish and chips again over priced compared to other places, I was told that they didn't have triple cooked chips instead it would be Fries, that was fine. When the meal came they were triple cooked chips and were luke warm!! The chef and waiting staff clearly don't communicate. My friend asked for horseradish sauce, a tiny bit arrived apparently they had ran out due to Sunday roasts. Surely they can manage the amount of horseradish needed and order enough to last the week ahead. My friend had to ask several times for mustard. On our bill they had added a Pepsi which we hadn't had. The waiting staff are pleasant and polite, we did tell the waitress of our disappointment and they removed the service charge and discounted the bill so they did take our criticism seriously.

We were meeting family here but wanted to eat first. We booked a table for 6pm. When we arrived they told us to sit at any table. The man at the bar thought we were someone else. We wasn’t told where the menus was, had to go and ask. We had a pint of cider and a j2o which cost £9.75. That seemed a bit expensive when we looked at the menu we could see that carried onto the food. We were hungry so ordered the cheapest which was fish and chips at £19. When it arrived we was not asked if we needed sauces. Our family turned up and was also surprised at the prices. We was there for a couple of hours twelve people drinking and no one came to collect the glasses. We don’t think we will come back

Chicken chasseur but with a cheap drumstick and a rather fatty piece of what I hope was chicken....poor overall and not great value for money. Very slow bar service and 8 deep at one point so didn't even bother with another drink.

Where do I start? 8 of us went for Sunday lunch yesterday and the service was nothing short of a shambles! We booked a table for 8 two weeks ago based on previous great sunday lunches that we had had in the brasserie to find that our table was in the very tired conservatory of the hathaways bar. The table only had 5 seats around it even though we had clearly booked it for 8 but after a bit of rearranging the waitress was able to provide us with a table to seat the whole party. We were then told that there would be no table service and all food and drinks had to be ordered at the bar...not ideal but we headed to the bar. I ordered half a larger and a white wine and was told that would be £12.70. I thought this must be a mistake but no a glass of warm white wine is £10.50! If you want a bottle its £32!? Nether the less we ordered our drinks and food and the lady serving had to go and find a bottle of white wine which took some time (I would have thought white wine would be stocked in a bar?) and then didnt have enough change in the till so said she would be over with my change when she had some available. The 8 of us ordered our food and the lady behind the bar kept repeating that she we would need to let the kitchen staff know that there were 8 orders about to come in as they might be overwhelmed by the order?? There was literally no one else in the restaurant so how they would be overwhelmed by 8 people ordering off a set menu I do not know!? We sat back at our table and waited for our starters only to have our mains brought out first. I explained that wed ordered starters and the response was 'well the mains are ready now so do you want them?' Of course we dont! Weve ordered starters because we want starters!? The food was sent back and around 15 minutes later our starters arrived which were all very pleasant but there were missing items so we had to call the waitress over again! At this point i asked to speak to a manager as the service wed received was not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel! She agreed that the service had been substandard and that she would arrange a discount for the food which was appreciated. The mains then came and again there items missing off a few of the meals so we had to call the waitress over again! Once wed finished it took a long time for the plates to be cleared and we waited for our desserts...15 minutes later we still had no desserts (we were still the only people eating in the restaurant at this point) so I went to ask where they were to be told theyd forgot to tell the kitchen staff to prepare our desserts. By this point it was 3 hours since wed first been seated and our taxi had arrived so I asked for a refund on the desserts to which inwas told by Natalia the manager that she would not be issuing a refund and she become quite hostile staying that I'd apparently swore at a member of her staff which was a complete lie! The member of staff in question eventually agreed that I hadnt actually swore at her and that she ay have misread me!? I reasoned with the manager that how could she not refund me for a course that I hadnt received based on her staffs incompetence and eventually she agreed to refund our deserts. How a 4 star hotel can provide such poor service when the restaurant was empty is beyond me! I used to dine here quite regularly pre covid but there is no way I will be returning to this place again!

Myself, my wife and 2 grandchildren played on the range. Very enjoyable. However we then popped into the Hathawys pub for some lunch and drinks. We sat, as required now, and we waited for 15 minutes and no one even acknowledged we were there!!! There was a distinct lack of staff and those that were there, didn't seem to know what to do. We waited a few more minutes and then decided to get up and leave. Still no acknowledgement!!! If they put these processes in place at least have sufficient staff to be able to serve people.

Lots of small things add up to the best customer service I could have possibly hoped for. Sadly, my mom passed away at Christmas and we were looking for somewhere that was classy/yet cosy to hold her “Celebration of her Life”. From my very first conversation with Karen Village I felt at ease at how flexible Lea Marston was - unfortunately all the function rooms were all in use on the date we wanted. Karen suggested the Conservatory in Hathaways Bar, I was abit sceptical at the thought of a cold conservatory in January, but what greeted us was a bright, spacious, extremely warm, welcoming venue. I’d been to weddings and always enjoyed them at Lea Marston, but never ventured into the “Hathaway Pub” - photos of the conservatory don’t do it justice. Prior to the date we met up with Roz (Assistant Manager) and she walked us around and we had coffee and discussed what sort of things we’d like - we choose the Hot Buffet Menu B with Wedges – endless Tea and Coffee, the tables were laid with White tablecloths and candles. The room looked amazing we had no inference from any other people entering the conservatory - with the pub/bar right there you felt like you’d hired a pub for the day !! We arrived at 2pm and we wasn’t rushed out, in fact I think the last people wombled out at 10pm!! The food was amazing – fresh and hot and plenty of it! The staff worked tirelessly to make sure that everything was just how we wanted it. The Bar staff were rushed off their feet with orders, but were all so friendly … every member of staff that we spoke/dealt with were amazing … they are an absolutely credit to this Hotel! So if you are looking for something different to a social club/hotel this venue is perfect for a wake, a birthday or even a christening. We had 80 people in the conservatory and some people in and around the bar. I can’t thank the staff enough for what was such a stressful time in my life… the day couldn’t have gone better!!!! 5 stars ***** Outstanding

Booked for a work group in Hathaways bar. Was a complete disaster from start to finish. Seems like there is no one in charge. Drinks orders were extremely slow since staff were taking food orders too. Then they ran out of the drinks ordered. Starters took over an hour they were only cold plates and mezes, no side plates were provided and eventually tuned up. When the mains arrived one was completely missed so our poor colleague had to sit and watch everyone else eat. However 2 dishes were also retuned fish and chips overcooked - seemed cooked badly from frozen. Chicken burger was like cardboard. Then our colleagues meal showed up even though she no longe4 wanted it! It was completely wrong incorrectly cooked steak and the wrong fries. Overall service was poor and very slow - don’t blame them young girls with no leadership or guidance. Would give no stars if it were possible and will never ever eat there again.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon.Food had been pre-ordered and the waitress verified everyone's orders when we arrived - a great start but it went downhill from there. After a fair wait the first of the main courses were served. The chips were cold and the meals were taken away - they were returned with fresh chips, but by this time the burgers (hunters chicken) were no longer hot. Some more mains arrived - pies which were hot although the vegetables were only lukewarm. At this time we realised that some people had ordered starters, but these had not been served. We were advised they weren't sure what had happened to them.....us neither! Those of us who had fish and chips were served a considerable time later - at least an hour and 15 minutes after sitting down - by this time a number of the group had already finished eating. Steaks followed the fish & chips. I noted the steaks did not come on a stone as indicated on the menu. Hathaways serves expensive pub food, which is fine if they can get it right and deliver. This visit was awful and well below expectations. I felt really sorry for the young servers who were clearly uncomfortable with the quality of food and the delays - the management should have taken charge and apologised at any early stage. So not to cause a scene, one of our group complained (away from the table) on behalf of everyone. There was no criticism of the waiting staff and they were told throughout the meal it was not their fault. The only redeeming aspects were: When my fish & chips finally arrived it tasted nice and was hot. As a goodwill measure the manager agreed not to charge us for meals...although this was after an initial insulting offer of a complimentary drink (most people were driving and having soft drinks anyway).

Reasonably priced at £24.95 for adults and £9.99 for children (the separate children’s menu is slightly more expensive but was more suitable for my vegetarian daughter. Ordered a halloumi salad, it was not a salad it was halloumi with some cucumber, I hate cucumber and ordered this meal specifically because it was not listed as containing it on the menu. I actually think the kitchen ran out of salad and just decided to fill my plate with half a cucumber instead. My partner had ordered a sandwich that was meant to come with a side salad and guess what, it was cucumber and onion, no leaves whatsoever. If I’m paying £9 for a salad I’d like there to be more than 3 mouthfuls of leaves. the sweet potato fries I ordered arrived barely warm.

My husband and I met with friends in Hathaways Bar for a pre-Christmas meal, as we have done for 30 odd years. Currently under refurbishment, it was evident on arrival that there was far too much furniture squeezed into the reduced space, so it wasn't easy to find and seat ourselves at a suitable table. We ordered four drinks at the bar, carried two ourselves and had to wait for the other two as the lager was momentarily unavailable. When the surly waitress brought them over she seemed miffed to be asked to clear some teapots and crockery which were present when we arrived. A little later we placed our food order at the bar. Three meals were brought along with a side order of chips and, when we asked where the fourth meal was, we we told an order had only been taken for three so there would be a 10 minutes wait for it. No condiments were offered but vinegar was brought promptly on request. My fellow diners started to enjoy their parmesan chicken, sausage and mash and cajun chicken burger whilst I waited. My lamb tagine arrived and I must say it was delicious. No staff approached to clear away our empty plates, and after asking for the dessert menu at the bar, the same surly waitress came over, snatched a menu from the adjacent table and threw it at us! Desserts and coffees were ordered and brought, but we again had to ask for the table to be cleared before we could proceed.

Approx 40mins after ordering my husband went to see how long it would be before getting the meal it arrived 20 mins later granddaughter got salad I got mushy peas all three of us had what looked like very small jersey potatoes cooked previously and reheated by frying. Meals were luke warm. After dinner my husband went to see when they would be taking our sweet order as no one came and we asked for the table to be cleared of the dinner plates. The cold sweets arrived 20 mins later again after my husband asked how long they would be Would think twice about taking 6yr grand daughter again we spent over 2hrs there ordering waiting and eating meals and husband going and asking them when we would get meals. Staffs walking past could see we were there waiting. We were in a room on our own. We have been there before but had meals in the restaurant not the bar and not had any problems. Part of the Lea Marston hotel.Basically operates as a pub serving food within the hotel, albeit I believe the same menu and prices that you'd get in the hotel restaurant. Generally I thought the prices were a little high which I suspect reflects if you are staying here it's not obviously near an alternative.Staff were quite good. Menu was not huge plus there were a couple of specials options. From the specials I had hake goujons with chilli jam which were good. For mains I had the tuna steak which was well cooked, albeit strange it was served with onion rings, chips and smothered in a hollandaise sauce. That was an unusual combination.Good local ales. Firstly let me say the staff are lovely and the service was good. The downside is its meant to be bar food so you don't expect daft plates or meagre portions. The burger is about the best sized meal but its served on essentially a big table tennis bat with no room to tip the chips out of their "desk tidy" was about 50ml of coleslaw (c'mon coleslaw costs peanuts). The other meals in my group would of needed sides really to actually make them a meal and the menu should state as much. I'm all for stopping food waste but unless you're a small children or a very light eater the portions will leave you hungry and making a sandwich when you get in and its not like we are huge eaters. For the money it was not a great deal of food and to be honest a big chain like the much improved harvester would be a better place for a real dinner

Visited here last night as we are staying at the hotel attached. It was very busy but the staff were excellent and very helpful. The food was good and reasonably priced for a hotel. Me and my two boys ate for £28 including drinks they had deserts in that too.

This bar is part of a friendly hotel and leisure complex, not big but offers two golf courses! Even if you're not into golf (or health and fitness) this is a very friendly bar, reasonably-priced food freshly cooked and there are often offers available linked to the other facilities on site. Gets popular at weekends, but child-friendly and a good range of beers available too.

Typical english pub. Good beer. Food as usually in UK. Parkside ok. Prices typical for this type of bar ☺

we were staying at the hotel and wanted a snack (sandwich & chips) and placed our order at the bar. 50 minutes had past and still no food; after asking a very helpful waiter who came back all apologetic and said it had been missed in the kitchen and would be a few minutes, which it was. when next at the bar the unfortunate waitress (Debbie) who asked if all was ok got the full story. to her credit she immediately knocked 10% of the drinks bill.I think were just unlucky, all the other diners got their food ok.

We stayed and used the bar for a meal with 3 of us taking up the steak night offer - ribeye and a beer for £15 (about £23 full price). Food was superb.

Ate here with some colleagues for the first time. Excellent service. Though the seabass and veg was cold when mentioned it was replaced steaming hot and extra veg and discount on bill without being asked. Brian was a great waiter and all served the food wearing gloves! Advise to order extra veg but food delicious and well presented and reasonably priced. Will come again

As a treat for my daughter and I we went to Hathaway's bar at Lea Marston. We were shown to a table in the conservatory. Today we were the only guests. The weather was awful and the conservatory was leaking in many areas but this did not deter from the lovely afternoon tea. Fresh variety of finger sandwiches, warm scones and clotted cream and a platter of sweets delicious. Plenty of good strong tea and a nice setting if the weather was better.

Poorly trained college staff, burgers very oily and burnt, most probably deep fried. Chips under cooked. Confusion and mixed information as to how to add food bill to room bill etc

I am coeliac, which means I need to follow a strict gluten-free diet. When I mentioned this at Hathaways Bar, nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff who went out of their way to ensure I had as good a meal as my non-coeliac companion. Great customer care. Good food too!

Visited for a meal and a few drinks with my husband and a few friends. The atmosphere in the bar is nice and friendly. Service good and the food lovely although not a huge amount of choice. Would visit again.

Me and my partner dined here for his 40th birthday treat.. food was good. Limited menu a little. and a little pricey for pub grub.. but Debbie at the bar was a delight.. she helped me choose a whisky for my partner.. and designed him a birthday plate with happy 40th birthday. She made our evening very special. Thank u Debbie xx

We visited for a Sunday lunch and a quick meet up with family, both me and my husband had the roast he chose the chicken and I had the pork with crackling and apply sauce. We were really disappointed the chicken was dry and cold as was the pork loin without any apple sauce as stated and a the thinest piece of crackling I had ever seen it was the length of a pencil but thinner! And whoever thought that popcorn on top if the Tiramisu dessert really needs to taste it! It's just odd and really spoilt it.You really would expect better and to be honest we should know better by now because everytime we come here to meet with family (here is the easiest place as they stay here) the food is always a disappointment and very limited. The staff however are lovely and polite the food just really isn't up to much.

We stayed at the Lea Marston for two nights and ate at Hathaways both evenings. Between my wife and I we ate the salmon, burger and steaks. All were fresh, hot and very well presented. If I was local I would definitely, regulalrly eat at Hathaways. Excellent food, friendly staff and a good selection of real ales, beers, wine and spirits.

As a family we had two evening meals in the Hathaway Bar. On the first night the family were arriving from various parts of the country and nothing was too much trouble for the staff in making everything run smoothly. On the second evening we were celebrating a Golden Wedding and once the staff became aware of this, they arranged for us to have a private room just off the bar, this was done without any request from us. The staff again went out of their way to make the evening successful. The menu was extensive which was helpful bearing in mind that the ages of our group varied from 3 yrs to 73yrs. The food was excellent and always well presented. We would recommend this venue to anyone who are having a night out or celebrating an event.

This is the hotel bar for the Lea Marston Hotel. Beer choice is good with three real ales from a local brewery on tap - I recommend the Cuthberts. For a starter I had the deep-fried breaded mushrooms. Excellent. For my main I had the sirloin. Note, though, that you may wish to order your steak cooked one degree higher than usual - my "medium rare" sirloin was near enough blue; when I ordered a "medium" the next night it fitted what I would've classed as medium rare. I didn't order a dessert while I was here, so can't comment on those. The ambience is great, with an open fire. This wasn't lit while I was there, so I can't say if it ever is lit. There's also a conservatory and outdoor section attached. Not usable at this time of year of course. All in all, a pretty good hotel bar as these things go - practically indistinguishable from a village pub.

We stay every year and have eaten in the restaurant and the bar, also ordering room service from the bar menu. The prices seem to have risen a little and whilst beautifully presented the food was ok. Last year I thought it was much better but then they did have Ribs on the menu which were beautiful. Perhaps it was an off night

We have been here twice in the last few months to meet with family, all the food sounds delicious however the quilty and taste just doesn't match up to the price, 1st time I had the thai green curry which was very creamy and tasteless the 2nd time I had the fish and chips which was soggy batter and cold mushy peas.Come on Lea marston if you want people to keep coming back then you need to up your game!!

I have gone past it for years and always thought the outside looked dull and not welcoming at all. So if the effort is not put in for the outside, then there cannot be much effort on the inside. The saying 1st impression comes to mind. Needs flowers and plant boxes and some change in a bit of colour. Boarders around grass edges done properly and more outside design in general. Could have huge potential with the right look and garden area done properly.

I wanted a plate of food and a pint after a long day - staying nearby where could I go? To be fair the information available on the web is minimal ( different names, locations etc) but as within walking distance of where I was staying thought I would give it a go. Not disappointed, great selection of good honest pub food at decent prices with a nice selection of draft pints available - again at decent prices! Scampi & chips + a pint of Thatchers exactly what I wanted and I couldn’t have asked for better,,,,, It’s now called The Bulls Head!!
