We went to a funeral. It was nice and spacious. They have a garden. The food was nice. X

Traditional Sunday carvary. Great food & fun - neef, turkey, ham yorkshire pudding & veggies. Just like grandma used to make.

This pub has helpful and friendly staff and locals. They're a dog friendly pub, as long as on a lead and kept under control. We popped in on our way home from a walk to Sharpe's Green and back. We had our dog, Milo, with us and one of the staff, who came out for their smoke break, saw him and offered him water, she brought it out in a proper metal dog bowl!! There is a small garden, for the odd occasion we actually get a sunny day around here, but, by the main door into the pub they have a decent smoking area, it has a kind of open fronted shed, with a picnic bench and the shelter has walls on 3 sides and protects you from the elements (unless the wind blows the rain in the open front!!). There is wheelchair access, (not the main door, as there are 2 rather high steps down into\out of the pub.) ask a member of staff and they'll direct you to the wheelchair accessible entrance as it's not that clearly marked, if you don't already know where it is!! The ladies toilets however are not wheelchair accessible, (I'm not sure, but, I think the Gent's loos actually are wheelchair accessible) and neither is the dining room where they serve their carvery, which is on the same level as the ladies loos, although, I believe that, if you asked, they would allow you to sit in the main bar to eat if you can't get up the 2 steps into their dining room, and the steps are quite high (I myself am disabled, but, I can with my partners help, get up and down them, but, they are quite high, more so than most steps). The dining room also serves as a good sized room to rent for Family get togethers, birthday parties or any other reason you might need to book a room for (I know that a band used to rent it for their band practice years ago, and at one time there used to be either slimming world or weight watchers groups that used it too!! I don't know about now, but, my point is it's a good sized room, but, it's not huge!! Your best bet is to call the friendly staff and ask!!) There isn't a bar in the dining room, so if you rent the room for a party, you will have to use the main bar. In my experience (I've been to a couple of birthday\anniversary parties here!!) if it's a Friday or Saturday, you might find there is a bit of a wait to get served, even with the extra staff they try to have on. I have been going to this pub on and off since the late 90s, I even worked here for a while in the late 90s early 00s!! It has changed hands a few times over the years, but, it has not changed that much, the staff are and always (mostly!!) have been friendly and welcoming. They nearly always have at least 2 real ales on, and according to my mates who drink it, I have never heard anything bad said about it. There is also a rather good sized car park, which is useful if having a party here!! I would definitely recommend this place.

The Hastings Arms is a fantastic pub with such friendly staff and customers. I have booked the venue for my 60th birthday party aswell.

Nice quiet pub, decent prices and and a good atmosphere

Went to a private event here. Didn't really stay in the bar area. Loos were fine. No decent rose wine. Private room good. Food supplied was fine. I think there's a garden/outside area too but it was after dark when I was there. Decent size carpark.

Brilliant premises for a wonderful carvery and amazing helpful staff, Toby Carvery could learn a thing or two in what a carvery should be. My wife is temporary disabled and the staff couldn't have been more helpful in ensuring her safety.

It's like walking into a working man's club. Staff are nice but sadly I prefer atmosphere.

The Hastings Arms in Gillingham is a quiet and well run local pub with a very relaxed and quiet atmosphere. When I visited there were no cask ales available, so I had to make do with a larger.

This used to be my favourite carvery. The decor has always been dated and worn but the food more than made up for it. I haven't been for a while. And was looking forward to going back. The meat was already cut on plates and I very much doubt that it was actually cut from a joint. It more than likely came from a packet. A measly three slices of very below average thinly sliced meat and over cooked veg made for a very disappointing Sunday lunch. The beef seemed to disintegrate rather than melt in you mouth and the gammon was more like budget, packet ham. Such a shame.

Lovely little pub. Great atmosphere! They have live singers some nights, karaoke other night. The only thing that bugs me is they have a lovely, friendly big dog that sometimes walks around the pub before hand and there is dog hair on the floor. I'm allergic. Doesn't stop me from going there though with my brother in law

First time visiting this pub. The pub was busy, glad we booked a table. Meal time there was a choice of 3 meats of which you can any two plus the veg, on this occasion I found the broccoli and carrot's over cooked. The roast potatoes were perfect gravy cold. If the carvery can get these little things right then it would have got 5 *.

Okay venue for a wake and a quiet beer .bit of a dive toilets not very clean tape over the wash basins on one side ,and when there five weeks ago male toilets humming with flies .not impressed with venue bar staff lovely .

All you can say is OK, needs some TLC. good selection of drinks a plus is their Sunday Roasts - excellent, good as home cooking.

Great carvery friendly and helpful

If you like a great traditional Sunday roast, with a choice of 4 brilliantly cooked meats, choosing your own potatoes and veg (which is all cooked perfectly) and all served up with a smile from the friendly, welcoming staff, then this is the place for you. We cannot fault the food or the staff, whether in a large group or just us and our baby, it's fantastic every time and incredibly priced...especially considering you can load up your own plate with a much as it can hold. Great choice of veg, something for everyone. I can't recommend it enough...when we took the whole family, all 8 of us were happy with our food and that rarely happens. Coming from homes where the roast is the centrepiece of family life this is praise indeed I can assure you.

A pub for the local area. It sells beer. I've had better elsewhere. Big function room. TV and football shown. Jukebox with unusual selection including Pink Floyd. Carpark. Would probably go elsewhere for better beer.

Just dropped in by myself for a pint, not carrying cash and was told by surly barman minimum spend to use my debit card would be £10...needless to say I left to go somewhere more welcoming and friendly.

Nice, friendly pub. Hayley, one of the bar staff is second to none. Easily handles a full bar on her own. Sunday lunch is good too.

This is the best roast dinner by far. ive tasted some rubbish roast dinners. So go here and you not be disappointed. All home made. No rubbish frozen food. This is why I have given this pub grub 5 out of 5 stars.

Friendly pub with good selection of lagers and usually three or four guest ales. Garden and patio at rear, and a function room as well, available for hire. Deb (the landlady) cooks a SUPERB carvery on Sunday. I recommend booking for this.

Went here to meet friends but we left after 1 drink because we wasn't made to feel welcome by the locals, my husband went to the bar to order a drink but no one would move out of the way for him to get to the bar meaning he had to walk around the other side to pick the drinks up, plus we kept getting funny looks from a few so we left. 😞

The food was spot on , everything cooked to perfection . good service from staff . proper home cooked roast dinner , not the mass produced mush from a toby or Copperfield. The only downside ...........I just let all you know about it ....bugger lol
