First visit here and not being local I was interested to visit. Located close to the station and I found parking very easy. Decor instead is good and a busy atmosphere although that would be expected on a night England football v Montenegro. Also games tables and several large tv screens to view sport. We had a basket meal, which was fine and excellent value. The one negative point was the lack of bar staff to serve, and the lady behind the bar was certainly not welcoming and really looked like it was all a chore.Would I visit again.....yes, hoping staff are positively welcoming.

Popped in for a beer with my two sons and also had a game of pool. This is a pub that has found its niche and serves it very sucessfully. Its customer base is primarily male and possibly younger rather than older. The owners have worked hard to improve the outdoor areas with new seating. There is a good range of beers and lagers.

Amazingly I almost didn't ask if they served Gluten Free beer as I couldn't see any bottled beers behind the bar. But they do! Hidden out the back, the very helpful bar lady revealed that they do indeed have a gluten free lager (Daura Damm). Although I did not try the food it appeared to be reasonably priced traditional pub fayre. The beer garden was spacious and there was a separate play area for children. A good welcome at this pub and the stocking of a gluten free beer means this is a pub which will get my custom again in the future.

Friendly welcome, basic tasty food at reasonable prices and pleasant garden area. Nice touch is reductions on main meals for senior citizens. Helpful bar staff. Good to see three vegetarian options on the menu.

The food was excellent and served efficiently and in good timing, considering the number of guests (40ish). Although the function room was large it felt homely and warm, even in February. I would recommend this for any medium/large function.

The bar and restaurant became a sports bar for our Sunday early afternoon party booking for a friend's lunch. Car parking was difficult - full, so some lunch guests used either the railway station pay-and-display or the private spaces belonging to an adjacent car servicing business (closed on Sunday). A large number of people were in the pub to see the local Premier Division team play Arsenal - a big TV screen was installed for this.We all enjoyed the basic roast-meat course, with sufficient slices of beef, lamb or pork. My preference is for vegetables not to be served soft, nearly mushy (the cauliflower), but other people liked the way our food was served. At £7.50, we were certainly not overcharged for the main course. This is a plain clothes restaurant, entirely unpretentious, meaning that our servers (including behind the bar) were not wearing a restaurant uniform or even aprons, but were wearing apparel for any old job. I sometimes refer to this casual wear as "housework clothes". In my ratings, full marks do not go to any establishment which does not even try to look professional. The bar service was satisfactory except that my bottled beers were quickly (too quickly) emptied together into a glass, whereas to proper way is to pour some of the beer and then to give the restaurant customer the glass with the bottle. The Hassocks Hotel serves the local Harveys draught ale but not the companion low-alcohol products; I had a foreign brand, Becks. The football fans left quietly after their team lost 2- 0.There is nothing wrong with the ambience here. You have a view of the pub's car park, the apartments or houses opposite and the Station Approach. For romance, would this matter? - probably "yes" ! And there are not enough sports bars around. It is good that there are still places like the Hassocks Hotel, but it is also good that there are places much better.

A nicely fitted bar and welcoming staff. Three ales are available. Shame about the food. I'm guessing my burger was frozen and microwaved and it wouldn't surprise me if it was a Rustlers burger bought from the local BP garage.

Literally a stone throw from the railway station. Good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Food is very good and reasonably priced. We were there on a busy Saturday night and the service from the staff was quick and they were all polite.

Fairly average family pub, just beside Hassocks train station. Does everything it needs to, without falling over itself. Perfect for a quick pint before or after a train journey, but not a pub you'd settle into for an evening.

Attentive staff, pleasant environment, busy yet well organised and very good value for the large portions served. Menu is typical, basic "pub grub" which did the job for us. Why haven't we been here before?

I walked in here by mistake whilst looking to get out of the rain one day when it was chucking it down, and I'm glad I did, stopped for lunch and the food was brilliant. The hotel is a bit on the old side, but the staff are friendly and welcoming. Worth a try.

My son and I went to lunch prior to watching our soccer team (Brighton) play Arsenal. We had a terrific meal - chicken and mushroom pie for my son and southern fried chicken for me. The food was hot, the portions were generous and the service was great, Kelly and Mal looked after us and we had a really great time, having only decided to pop into the Hassocks instead of the local Costa at the last minute. Other guests had the "full works" Sunday roast, which looked very good. The value for money was great and we'll definitely be returning. It was the high point of our day...Arsenal beat us 3-2!

We walked 4 miles to the Hassocks Hotel for Sunday lunch which costs £5 per head. Amazing value and quality for the price. Home cooked meat and fresh vegetables and plenty on the plate. Highly recommended. I would phone and book because at this quality and price they will run out.

No doubt the Hassocks Hotel is well known to many locals but we discovered it only recently. Since then we have eaten there twice and on each occasion the food was excellent, amazing value, and provided with all the friendly service for which you could wish. There are special prices for pensioners that make it even better value.
