Hasan Meze & Mangal in Hackney

This restaurant has changed ownership. It was once great and now is below expectations. Food was not good at all. As for the service - very poor. They don't even serve us bread. Will never go there again

What a lovely restaurant, good food and service and atmosphere, definitely hope to go back. Hasans is the best Turkish place you’ll find in London.

I went with a group of friends. We had a delicious assortment of starters, followed by succulent grilled meat and salad. The portions were generous, Devine friendly - and really good value!!

I went in on spec for an early evening meal ahead of a concert across the road. It was exceĺlent. The turkish roots came through in this location and great service but it a simple setting.

Ordered a takeaway from here and can't believe how much freshness and flavour each box contained. We love Turkish food and honestly this place is the best we've experienced!

We came here for an end of year celebration. The food is great - go for either the mixed grill or a sharing thing. Remember it's bring your own beverage as well!

Hasan Meze has to be one of the best Turkish restaurants I have been too! The food is one of a kind, great service as well. You can even bring your own wine ;)

I went here with a friend on a mid week evening. We were seated ASAP, and ordered some lamachun, hummus and yogurt with cucumber. They also served us with amazing hot bread, a great refreshing salad and an awesome grilled onions soaked in a pomegranate marinade. All the starters were amazing and exactly what you expect. As we had so many starters we ordered a small mixed grill for us to share. This was fantastic, the best chops ive ever had, so juicy and flavoursome. The kebab, ribs and pieces of chicken and lamb were just st as great. We were stuffed and just about finished all the food. The staff were friendly and attentive, they cam round and offered us more bread and salad, we kindly declined. I haven’t been here for more than 10/12 years, and the food is as i remember. I will definitely be coming back sooner. Im just not in the area much. Complimentary tea followed.😀

The decor of this restaurant may not be the best, but, the food was just simply amazing!! Would definitely recommend it and plan on going back again soon! Thank you Hasan.

Great family restaurant. Fantastic good the juciest meat you'll ever taste. Rice has so much flavour. The onions you get in pomegranate juice is to die for, salad mix and bread before the meal is all included in the price. Take your own drink if you want. Just a fantastic restaurant. Try it and see for yourself.

Hassan has been a favourite of mine for a good few years, it's the grilled onions in pomegranate vinegar (their trade mark dish) they give you as a free appetiser that keeps me coming back. All food is cooked fresh in front of you. Massive salads with gorgeous breads to compliment great dishes such as; Chicken Beyti or lamb Shish. Very reasonable prices and friendly staff, I'm a regular 😏

A very typical Turkish eatery with a standard offer of grilled meat and side salads. We found the hummous a bit dry; the grilled lamb was good instead. Fair prices.

This restaurant is an average Turkish restaurant. The food is good on most days, but can be hit and miss. ONly tried the mixed Grill platter here, not as good as others on the same street.

It looks like a very simple restaurant, set in Dalston with all the other Turkish restaurants. But IMHO, Hasan's stands out because it was my first visit here on Friday. The food is simply very tasty. We ordered a selection of grilled meats and all I can say is that it was just like our vacation in turkey. The grill chef really knows his stuff and the meats were so good, tender, juicy, flavorful and succulent. Rakhi was the right brand too!

El menú es variado, así que hay algo para todo el mundo y es muy buena relación calidad-precio. El personal era increíblemente amable y atento. Una buena noche de todos.

Hasans is my all time favourite Turkish Restaurant. I always order the same thing every time and it never fails to impress me. The Lamb Chops is the juiciest and most flavoured lamb chops I've ever tasted. The grilled onions is also a must!

This place is my particular favourite Turkish in Dalston, everyone who comes to visit has to be brought here! Order the meze feast, a set menu for meat lovers only - I'm sure there are veggie dishes on the menu too... Meze feast starts with...

By far our best experienced with Turkish food on Kingsland Rd. The food -- meat and veg -- was uniformly excellent, the portions were generous, and the waiters were all incredibly nice. The restaurant also gives you free salad, amazing barbecued onions, and dessert. Can't recommend highly enough!

Delicious food & plenty of it. Ordered a main only however all the additional food that came with our starter of hummus was amazing. Beautiful, friendly and extremely polite staff. Complimentary dessert too, Turkish tea AND Turkish delight. Wouldn't hesitate to go back again. EXCELLENT ALL ROUND.

Professionalism from start to the end. They called to confirm booking. We had to change the booking time and they accommodated us. It is a friendly place. The waiter Shalini's service was exceptional. He ensured we had all we needed without being intrusive as well as exchanging banter. The food was hot and cooked very well. Even though were was a fairly large group eating out their noise didn't bother us. Very pleasant will definitely dine there again. Very good value for money.

This is a nice restaurant with good quality food. We sat near the front so I could see the chef cooking the food. However, I found it a bit unhygienic when I saw him take the bowls of salad out of the fridge and use his hands to grab a handful cabbage, cucumber and carrots etc. and arrange it on the plate, and then return to carry on cooking the meat. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this is a bit wrong, they should be using a pair of tongs for this. If I saw this when he was arranging our salad I would have not eaten it.

Three of us came here at lunch. The service was prompt and the food is one of the best I've had in recent times. We will be back for sure

We were taken here for dinner earlier this week, our friends raved about how good it was so I was very excited.From the exterior it doesn't look particularly inviting but this was more than made up by the exceptional food.Key was the charcoal technique which reminded me of the best outdoor summer BBQ you've ever had.Succulent meat with outstanding marinates complimented by well balanced and interesting side dishes. I have never tried onions that are so delicious with the delicate spices, this was a highlight.

I went to the restaurant with my family after being recommended going there by our AirBnB host. The food was really good and the staff was nice. When I had to pay though, they by accident charged my card twice. They weren't sure if they had or not, so they told me to come back when I could see it on my bank statement. This happened a friday so I couldn't see it untill monday.Monday evening I come to restaurant and expect them to pay back my money, but the employees at work says there's nothing they can do without their boss, since I was flying home to Denmark tuesday morning, that not acceptable. After discussion back and forth, we come up with the solution that I'll contact them through email when I get home.I write them an email and hear nothing. I write another email still nothing. I call them and finally they start to do something about it. After more than a month of "working on it" with continuous updates, they finally tell me that they WON'T refund my 50 pounds, because it will cost them 22 pounds to transfer them via a bank.I'm still 50 pounds down, horrible service. Only go there if you pay cash!

Delicious fresh food and plenty of it too. The meat was cooked perfectly and the salads were very tasty. I have been to many of the mangals in Dalston and this is certainly one of the best. Friendly service and a fair price. Will definitely return.

I have been to Hasan on three occasions. I am always very satisfied with the food. All of the waiters and chefs are friendly and efficient. They have recently started allowing customers to bring their own wine. This makes it even better value for money. Every time I have been I've been given a complementary dish. They go above and beyond to keep the customer happy. Highly recommended!

3 friends and I had a massive dinner the other day, the food was amazing! We had a huge portion of meat and managed to finish all. The stuff are kind and nice, it was just a great experience for all of us

Food was filling and it tasted great! the meat used on the Kofte was good quality and jucy to bite into! Staff were friendly, I would recommend this to anyone!

I went there with my family and there was 22 of us. The food was great and I have been going there for a few years now. After dinner they gave me my bill and they have over charged me by 50.00 so annoyed about that as the place and food is mouth watering. Very disappointed with them

Food was absolutely delicious, and well presented. They give u loads of sides and it is free of charge. I don't know any other place in London where guests are so taken care of. Service was at the top. Guys were taking care of us very well. At the end we were served a desert, and it was on the house. It is such a lovley treat. All that in a really good price.I'll be back for sure. Best turkish restaurant so far.Simple proof that kebab doesn't have to be greasy take away.Guys you are brilliant here.

We chose to visit Hasan as our usual favorite Turkish restaurants in the area seemed to be getting a few so-so reviews.Although very quiet when we visited we loved the change of scene. Helpings were noticeably more generous and the bread was particularly tasty. The meat was very nicely cooked and we really liked a few of the interesting meze dishes we'd not tried before such ast the Ezma Salata - freshly chopped tomatoes, onions and parsley with herbs, olive oil, pomegranate and lemon juice.We will be back!

Have been to this restaurant multiple times with my boyfriend. Service is rapid and consistent. We always get the mixed grill, £15, which includes a generous portion of meat, bread, rice, bulger wheat, chargrilled onion salad and another mixed salad. Would recommend this place for anyone looking for an authentic turkish. The chips are also cooked to perfection!

There are lots of excellent Turkish restaurants on Stoke Newington Rd and on Green Lanes. Hasan is one of the best--and in terms of value for money it is #1. You can eat massive amounts and have a few drinks and you'll pay 10-15 quid max. The portions are huge. 3 mains and a few starters will feed 5-6 hungry people easily! The Ali Nazik here is better than anywhere in London and even better than some places in Istanbul. The sucuk and lahmacun is excellent. The other kebabs are great too and they serve you onions in pomegranate sauce for free with everything.I have been there 4-5 times now and I keep going back

No point in going to a restaurant (as in this one) if they use cheap food products and sell at a cheap price. I'd rather pay more and not harm my organs. And even if the food is not of great quality, you can atleast try cook it to a good standard and serve the food looking edible. Workers seemed bored and over worked.

I have been here several times and even already reviewed it once before but I felt I had to review it again as the food is amazing. The bread (meat juice bread as I call it) is to die for. I could just come here and eat the bread alone. Meat is tasty and juice with great flavour. Staff are pleasant. You have to visit!!!

Have been here countless times, the last time being yesterday evening for the usual mixed kebabs and chops. Fantastic tasting food and excellent value for money. Very kind staff always topped off with the complementary backlava and tea.

This place has great food served in unpretentious surroundings. The chef prepares the ezme salad at the front of the restaurant - it can be served hot or cold - highly recommended - and the meats are superbly tender. The wine list is fun. You order merlot Shiraz etc. and each time I have eaten it is a different brand from the supermarket shelves but none the worse for that and great value. The onion pomegranate/turnip juice entree is a treat. Still the best value taste experience to be had.

Have used this place on several occasions for lunch. they do a great lunchtime deal or the chicken wrap if your not too hungry! staff are friendly and food is great quality

Free BYO, copious amounts of bread and sala, lovely staff, complimentary tea and pudding - what's not to like! We often sit her for a couple of hours having a leisurely dinner - which is lovely as many other places in Dalston are very keen to hurry you out!

I first went here back in 2009 when I was coming over and back from Ireland to my now fiancée. It did then and continues to amaze me. The food is fantastic, perhaps one of the most enjoyable meals you will have [should you have the Meze in particular]. I have been here many times since 2009 and what I love is they remember us and are always so kind. If you are looking for fancy cutlery, fine bone China, an exceptional wine list etc. - this isn't for you. But if you want without doubt, the best Turkish Food in London for amazing value - just go!I must say, I would love to see more reviews of put forward by diners - Hasan more than deserve it.

I am a regular here, great service, love their pomegrante and bread and onions they provide complimentary before a start of a meal, i come mostly for this mouthwatering starter and the mains was excellent ..i havent stayed too far on the menu so need to change more but it never dissapoints. Salads are great and portions are not shy. As long as they keep their price right i'll continue to be a regular.

i've been to the turkish in greenlanes, stoke newington and dalston. this is by far my favourite place. the onion pomegrante salad is incredible and the bread is warm on the kebap grill and is delicious. Service is great with friendly and helpful staff as well.

Best food I have eaten in ages, lovely meat dish full of flavours, bread was beautiful and rice and cous cous dishes were fantastic. Can't wait to try the lamb chops next. All greeted with a big smile from lovely people 5 star for this wonderful gem of a restaurant

Came here to catch up with friends over Turkish food and we all had an excellent time, Didn't have to wait too long even though it was busy.. although you can pre book a table for larger parties, As there was 6 of us, we ordered the Meze mix kebab platter to share - and WOW it was worth it!! The best Lamb chops ever!!! Cooked perfectly pink and full of flavours! Everything else was lovely too.Friendly staff, very welcoming and helpful.Great atmosphere.

This is the best turkish restaurant! Food is delicious! We have been coming here for several years and have gotten to know the staff well who are all friendly and helpful. The 'meat juice' bread (as we call it) it to die for and I would go there just for the bread alone. You get special onions in a pomegranate syrup which are amazing and a salad before you even order. The meat is cooked to perfection, succulent and tender. You always leave full and content and it is all an excellent price. This is helped that you can take in your own bottle of wine which reduces the bill considerably. If you haven't visited Hasan yet then I suggest you do for a taste sensation.

I've seen the great reviews so decided to try out this restaurant for lunch yesterday with two friends. On arrival the restaurant was completely empty and there was one man working, we were completely ignored so sat ourselves down. The man gave us the menus and walked off, again no smile, no hello, nothing. We asked him for the lunch time menu and he just pointed at some items on the menu that we could order. We ordered humous for starter, which was quite nice and then had lamb beyti for our main. The beyti was so gristly it was inedible and I couldn't eat it at all. Not wanting to make a fuss, we just asked if we could pay. Again we were treated with absolutely silence, there was no ' did you enjoy your meal' or 'was there a problem with your meal'. We paid and left.I have never been made to feel so unwelcome in a restaurant and now I know why it must be empty every lunchtime. The food is terrible, the service, non existent, the only atmosphere was one of hostility and I can guarantee we will never return or indeed recommend anyone else to eat there. It would appear that although they are a restaurant they do not want any customers in of a lunch time as they are an inconvenience.

Good service, great food, great value.My partner and I visit Hasan's on a regular basis. We have got to know the staff and the owner always come and makes an effort to say hello. Upon arrival you're quickly seated and given warm bread, onions in a sauce and salad. We always order far too much and still the bill rarely gets up to £40. The Meze is brilliant if you want a little of everything otherwise I would highly recommend the Pirzola or Yogurtlu Adana.With a loud atmosphere it's perfect for groups or couples. Dalston / Stoke Newington has a lot of Turkish restaurants but Hasan is the best pick of the bunch.

It was a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon and we were rather hungry having arrived rather late for lunch. We left feeling very full, despite only spending £16 each on a 2 course meal with a hot and cold drink each - this is excellent value for London.Obviously not part of a chain and family owned, service was welcoming and friendly but unobtrusive. While we waited for the starters to arrive, we were given a basket of bread with 2 nicely presented salads to share (apparently free).For starters, we both ordered arnavut cigeri - diced Lamb's liver with parsley, tomato and onion. This was quite a large portion for a starter and the liver was perfectly cooked to my liking and nicely but subtly seasoned.For main, I ordered beyti - 3 sausage shaped lamb mince patties flavoured with garlic and parsley served with 2 types of rice and salad - one plain boiled and the other mixed with a tangy red sauce. Everything was hot, not too spicy and the char-grilling was subtle and not over-carbonized as often happens with this type of cooking.We ordered a glass of ayran (jogurt drink) each with a coffee and when we declined dessert (we were very full by this stage!) - we were given 2 cubes each of what looked like Turkish delight, but I think was flavoured with honey - haven't come across these before.We will definitely return to this place when next in the area.

Best service and staff are excellent! Me and my girlfriend have been a few times and one of the staff who is the owners son recognise's us and always comes and says hello which is nice.Food is the best ever! Fresh, tasty and hot! Excellent place to eat if you like turkish cuisine.

Everything was incredibly tasty and fresh. The (free!) onion in pommegranate and turnip juice is something really special. Great bread, huge salad. I didn't know grilled chicken could taste so nice. After two courses we were almost too stuffed to enjoy the (free!) turkish delights - almost. Would absolutely recommend and will be back very soon.

Great food. Fresh and delicious. Excellent value and quality meat. Even better, restaurant is BYOB. Can definitely recommend lamb chops but everything we tried was good. YUM.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Hasan's: service was swift and friendly, and the quality of the ingredients was excellent as is so often the case with the best of Dalston's Turkish restaurants.

Went with a friends last week and was greeted by a very attentive waiter and the chef (the kitchen is in the main dining area). Excellent food, very reasonably priced in honest and unpretentious surroundings. Recommended for an inexpensive and very satisfying meal. absolutely fantastic service

great food once again the lamb chops are juicy and taste great (A MUST HAVE) all the other dishes on the menu are equally good the staff are friendly and very attentive a group of 10 of us visited on sunday to have yet another great meal cooked by the owner himself mr hasan all the food came out hot and we was all served together which is very rear when there are big groups

I've been to Hasan Meze & Mangal on a number of occasions and I haven't been disappointed yet. This time a brought some very fussy friends along and even they were won over. The portions are plentiful and the food is very tasty. Definitely recommended and opens till very, very late for you nocturnal types.

One of the best Turkish restaurant in London. If you are in Dalston, don't miss this place. Lamb and chicken dishes are delicious along with dip sauces. Definitely 5 stars!!! .. 4 people with less than 15 pounds each ! Highly recommended!!!!!!!!I will definitely come back again and again.
