Great place not over priced will use it again

We have always used Harveys for our Take away, we usually have 2 /doner kebabs, a *large chips and 2 curry sauces, 2 fritters and a large sausage, but we ordered yesterday 9th May 24 and were looking forward to it as it was always so tasty. When it came, there were /no Kebabs (it turned out that this was my fault) but the chips were less than 1/2 the side that we had always had, the fritter batter was flat and greasy,, and the curry sauce was completely different, so overall it was a big distaster and a waste of money. We ended up ordering 2 kebabs from The Turkish bar and they were awful, on Nann and very dry, no sauces whatsoever at £9 each this was joke ( I dont think), We wondered if Harveys had changed hands? But that is no excused for the quality of the food, So what was surposed to be a lovely night for my husbands birthday turned out to be a complete distaster. We will never order from either of them again.

Cheap prices but you get what you pay for.

Absolutely disgusting, fish smelling off and old, kebab meat covered in grease, cold and not a fresh nan but an old reheated nan that was made elsewhere, cold food and totally ignored instructions message for the food. Reported to environmental services Derby. What is wrong with these takeaways they want your money, and it is the customer who keeps your business alive and you just don't care about the food quality you are sending out. Show respect for your customers, WOULD YOU EAT IT!!!!! I think not!. Food hygiene Date of inspection 13 May 2021. 4 ⭐. 2 and a half years ago.. what is going on.

By far. The best fish and chips delivery. Fish was not over cooked. Batter was thin and still crispy. Lovely food. Thanks

Won't be buying ever again my son got food poisoning the food was full of grease cold and turned up two hrs later

Normally I have always enjoyed there food, great portion sizes but I ordered and large chips were the size of a same and had mixed kebab and was tiny and shoved together not sure what’s happened but wasn’t happy at all nearly £30 spent for shocking food quality and sizing

Oh dear.Placed an order for delivery today,didn't turn up.A great shame,food and price OK,service abysmal.Staff don't seem bothered and certainly don't care.

Food quality was good, I haven't had a problem before with them. Unfortunately I have noticed a price increase and a decrease in the portion sizes, which was always a plus for this business previously. I understand that the cost of food products has and is continuing to go up, but to reduce the portion size at the same time is a shame

I think you guys just don't care about your customer's, I paid good money for my meal, I had about 10 chips, the kebab was burnt and dry and don't get me going about the potato fritter, see photo, it's a shame when the batter is thicker than the potato. Rip of Britain, sort yourselves out.

omg the kebabs are amazing you just got a new customer I’ve been getting chips etc for last couple of years chips normally very generous myself and my son got less than a handful each Very annoyed and upset quality seems to have gone downhill Thankfully it has been resolved we had a takeaway and food was fantastic you must of had a off day best chips in derby

Absolutely disgusting not only did it take ove an hour and a half to arrive the chips are greasy and mushy not even edible the portion sizes are pathetic for the price. The sauce on the kebab I may aswel of not had any for the amount on it. The donner meat is dry and hard. I would not recommend this place at all. And the driver tried to lie and tell me I ordered it at a different time. 0 stars if I could

This chip shop has so much to choose from. When I fancy donner, chips and salad I won't go anywhere else. 😋

Have used a few times and was good but this time 23rd June it was birthday ordered 11 meals told her once she read back it was all right 60 mins later all wrong food came all wrong three short then rang and said hadn’t charged us for everything when she reread the order so for a meal costing £58 was very upsetting

One of the best chip shops in the area. Their portion size for chips is very generous. This chips here are the best I've had around, they taste brilliant. There are so many meal options too and I love the mixed meat and chips meal myself. I've been multiple times and it's consistently fantastic food. Well worth a try.

This place is disgusting they cancelled my order with no explanation wouldn’t answer the phone and very rude and always get the order wrong anyway disgusting customer service!!

Ordered online at 5:40 pm, rang shop at 6:58pm, took ages to answer phone then told me it was on its way. I live 5 mins away and my order finally turned up at 7:20pm. Food was ok but wouldn’t use them again

I work with a gentleman with autism and every time I've been in here with him the staff have been wonderful. They remember his name, offer high fives, speak to him as his own person instead of his support workers, and he's even been given a creme egg no charge. Truly excellent customer service.

Had a to good to go bag from here and by gosh for £5 you get so much it amazing would highly recommend to people. Just wish they was a little bit more variety on there instead of it being just sausages and potato fritters haha.

Disgusting food, chips came unsalted and disgusting, my sauces didnt even see this order, kebab was bad, without any taste of meat. Never again!!!!!

Food is always hot and tasty when we have it deliverd BUT!!!! In the last 6 Derliverys and 1 Collection the order has been wrong, always somrething missing. Its a shame cus the food is nice

Ordered a mixed kebab from here, thought I'd give it a try... Always dubious about chip shop kebabs but this stood out. Fresh naan, piping hot kebab meat. They have a Mediterranean style one which I asked to sample and waitress was very accommodating. Very nice all round, beautiful naan loads of fresh salad and generous portion. I'll be back. .

Great food just very poor service. Every order arrives incorrect every time and very rude staff when you call to explain they have the order wrong. Shame really

Honestly I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, best SFC in Derby. Absolutely love the food from here, it’s well worth any wait you may encounter due to them cooking things fresh to order. Trust me I eat a lot of chicken and there’s no better I’ve tasted in Derby.

Waited 70 minutes for food When it arrived it was very dissapointing Chips white very under cooked Fish all dried up and tasteless. Spent £16.00 Was a waste of money

Ordered some food through just eat and received a confirmation email at 7.35pm to say food will be with us 8.40pm, comes to 8.55pm no food, had to make a phone call asking when would it be delivered with the answer driver on the way. A few minutes later driver pulls up outside, moves black bin from the street with his bare hands so he can park outside our house, picks up food and brings it to the door. How disgusting is that! On top of that we had item missing from our order which shortly after was delivered. Great, delicious food but always late and please speak to your drivers and tell them that delivering food after touching peoples bins is not professional nor hygienic!

Ordered food at 7 30 said will be delivered in 1hour after 3 phone calls got through they said it was with driver shortly another call 20 later they was busy on way 9 40 rang again said went to wrong address on way food arrived at 9 55 food hot but chips horrible missed items of order rang again they said will credit me on my next order I told them I deffi wont order from there again at which point they put phone down wat a way to run a business

Brilliant food can’t doubt it, but two times now missed a pie from last order and a savoly from the ordered just been, which is a big part of the meal? And no one contacted to say anything about it

Very quick service. Food was very fresh and tasty, not oily at all. Will definitely be ordering from Harvey’s in future. My all time favourite place now, definitely recommend to all friends and family.

Ordered food from here tonight and it's that bad iv put it in the bin. Absolutely disgusting worse food I have ever had no words can describe how bad the food was how can you get chips so wrong dirty greasy food chicken burger wasn't even cooked kabab stank unbeatable

Harvey's are absolutely mint. Delicious food. Friendly Helpful Staff. And they are honest about delivery times. The 1 time I did have an issue with a later than usual delivery, which was disappointing but a one off. Next time I called and mentioned it. I got my whole order for free. Sums up the place. Brilliant. Deffo the place to order from. 👍💙💙👍

Chips are always cooked fine, meat's always juicey, standard chippy prices. Vegans will enjoy the potato wedges.

Food was ok other times have been better

Ordered last night..battered sausage chicken nuggets onion rings chips and a cheese salad...I asked for the onion rings to be wrapped separately. When order turned up around 19.00 food was just warm and the onion rings where wrapped with the sausage and chicken nuggets..I have one person allergic to onions the other a vegetarian...and salad had no cheese....I could have rang and complained but what's the point it was getting late.and they are getting things wrong on a regular basis and when it comes to food allergies it is serious....so as you can imagine it went in the bin apart from chips and salad...there is no point in saying you should have rang to rectify this as the moment had gone and are you frying onions with the other food????? Very disappointed guys😡😡😡😡😡

Used to love this chip shop but unfortunately over the last few months it's got worse, food is still nice but delivery can take over an hour and food is offen going cold by the time it gets hear, allso they get orders rong quite offen, so I'm afraid only 3 stars

Disgusting service, turned up 9.15 asked for donna kebab only to be told they had too many orders so i could not be served. Plenty of meat on skewer being cooked, but no help. This is wrong if people who can't be bothered to come to the shop, get priority over they who can. Will avoid this place from now on and make the effort to allenton to zanfish, more expensive, but you do get served. will also contact trading standards.

Waited nearly an hour for fish and chips because they had written the house number down wrong...after asking me twice.. not impressed. Not even sure the service merits one star...

There was a time when I was impressed by this place. The most recent order (12/12/18) was abysmal and has put me off this place for good. The food came late, chips were under-cooked and they FORGOT MY FISH. This ruined the takeaway and I would have rather had a cold can of beans than this disaster. I'm paying for a negative experience. Anyway, we rang up and two members of staff were arguing in the background. Now, they resent out the fish and it arrived within 15 minutes. However, they had a chance to rectify their absolutely ridiculous mistake (how can you forget something which is in the title?). Free bottle of pop? Free can? Nope, just a fish that was tough to eat and smaller than usual. Poor show guys.

Partner ordered via just eat and wow what utter vile sludge of food... The worst "chippy" experience I can remember tasting. Batter was inedible fish was dry... And the sausages were anaemic bless em. Tasteless bland and just a waste of TIME BINNED. THE CAN PEPSI MAX WAS OK THOUGH DE249JA

Ordered through the app & was notified they needed an extra 40mins to cook the food. Waited reluctantly & arrived 10mins earlier than suggested, the food was stored waiting for us & must have been like that for some time as it wasn't hot & the burger bun was incredibly soggy! Very disappointed.

I go here on a regular basis and the food is fantastic especially the chips ! and I must admit that its even better then the other chippy in or around Alvaston and I can personally 100% recommend them to anyone to give them a try and you won't be disappointing :-)

Shocking used to be lovely but it's gone downhill since the new people took over I've just scraped pie and chips in the bin god knows how long the pie had been there the bottom was burnt won't be returning

large portion is actually massive. tastes good and not really pricey. would take 25 mins to walk there instead of 2 min walk to my local chippy (frydays on london road)

Ordered cheesy chips, onion rings and sauces. Sauces and cheesy chips are good. I can't complain. Maybe a little cold, but eh. It's cheap, you get what you pay for... unless it's onion rings. First box was burnt, and covered in oil. Complained and they sent a new box. So they tried... But even this box was covered in oil, was too cold, and tastes horrendous. My girlfriend called this time, and just got them to send a free drink, as I lost my appetite and faith in onion rings. So the customer service is good, don't get me wrong. But the food isn't so good.
