Harvester Monkspath in Solihull

Family birthday meal with my kids, we used to love coming here but I am appalled at tonight's experience. The place had about 20 customers, so not busy and seemed to be a reasonable amount of team. Over half the menu was not available to order including the half roast chicken which is surely a signature dish for Harvester. Salad bar was empty of most things, but what was there was shrivelled and unappealing. Cutlery was dirty, and the medium rare steak that was ordered was cold and blue. On sending back I was told it would be 20 minutes... really for a medium rare rib eye.??? After my daughter and I had finished my sons meal was finally delivered, steak was still not cooked, and the chips, tomato, peas and mushrooms were clearly the same as had been sent out the first time. Maple sauce was 4 days out of date. When asking if the steak was going to be removed off the bill I was told, my manager will give you 20% off. Laughable and a total disgrace. M&B what are you thinking.. Will not return and will ensure to make our friends and family aware of this disappointing situation. And to the manager and team member that decided to argue with me, your customer service is a disgrace.

Not our first visit, however, it will be our last. My family and I visited the restaurant for my Son's Birthday at 6p.m. a time which suited my Grandson who is only 2. Once seated no one acknowledged us until 25 mins later not even an offer of a drink. Once we placed our order and visited the salad bar, again we were disappointed as most of the items where missing and no bread in site. The food took a very long time to come out and when it did everything was overcooked and dry, the first time I have ever had very dry spit roast chicken. We were there nearly 2 hours to just have mains, my Grandson by this time was very tired and bored because we were sat at the table for a very long time. A feel for my Son as it was his birthday and he couldn't eat his Ribs as they were so over done. POOR SERVICE, POOR QUALITY OF FOOD AND POOR SALAD BAR. NEVER AGAIN.

Arrived here on Thursday evening at 8:20pm, it took 10 minutes of standing by the “wait here” sign, 3 staff members to look at us and walk by without a word, and a table of staff members congregated by the salad bar looking at us and giggling, for us to leave. Embarrassing

We have eaten here on previous occasions and have been very pleased. However, we went for a Sunday lunch with friends yesterday and had a very poor experience. We received our salad bowls but once we had placed our food order we waited and waited and chased it up a couple of times. One meal, gammon, finally arrived with burnt, hard fried eggs, shrivelled peas, onions rings rock hard. Spoke to waiter who said the eggs would be replaced. Didn't know it could take so long to fry a couple of eggs. Another of our party toom his steak home fur the dog as it was too hard to eat. These delays couldn't have been put down to busy period as thee were few people in when we arrived. Apart from this, the toilets were filthy, ladies toilets blocked or not working and floors flooded. Gents hand dryer not functional and wet floors. These were reported to staff. The staff on duty did there best but it seemed there was a lack of leadership. We will not be going there again.

We booked a table for Saturday night for a family meal. Although it was quite busy, we were seated straight away and asked for our order very quickly. The drinks arrived promptly, along with the salad bowls, but the meal took far too long. However the food was good when it did arrive. We did not have enough cutlery on the table and had to ask for more and there were no napkins or side plates for the bread. We did not see a server from the time we were served our meal until we left when we found a group of them by the tills. Not a bad evening, but could have been improved by more attentive servers.

Had a lovely experience from the point of view of service and food and shall definitely be returning again. A very big thank you also to Yvonne for great service so keep up the good work.

Overall a bit of a shambles. Met for lunch with a friend,the waitress we had wasn’t terrible but wasn’t great. Felt like she may have been under pressure even though the restaurant was pretty empty. Half way through our starters we asked for a salt cellar that actually worked and was told they’re all the same and that we have to take the plug out the bottom pour it into your hand and sprinkle it over your food. We were pretty gobsmacked at this to be honest. It’s a shame as this is my local harvester and I probably won’t ever visit there again. The best part of the meal,service and overall experience was the lemonade refill.

Lovely lunch experience. Great choice of menu. Food served piping hot. Main course and desert delicious. We were served by Taylor. Polite, cheery and helpful. Very efficient. Enjoyable experience

Thank you to Victoria for looking after us. After not being here for a numerous amount of years we thought we would try it again and we have been highly surprised. The food was amazing and great portions for Adults and Children. It was the start of lunch time and we were greatly looked after throughout the service. Thank you again Harvester Monkspath.

Really can’t fault the food… good value for money… we come to this Harvester a lot and never really had a issue until today…. The floors were very greasy and slippery we were sat at a table and was given salad bowls that were dirty and still had salad in the bowl from the previous customer…. Took sometime before we actually saw someone to ask for clean bowls… then it took some time before someone came to take our order… even though they walked past us a couple of times … I have to say the service today was shocking… nothing like it we’ve experienced before… staff just standing around talking not taking any notice that customers were waiting to be served… after finishing our main meal we sat waiting for ages to order coffee etc after waiting for about 20 minutes and not a single member of staff appeared after cleaning our plates 20 minutes before…. we decided to leave… we went to the bar where 4 staff including the duty manager were standing around chatting… duty manager’s attitude wasn’t the best she seemed completely disinterested in customers it was very much like she couldn’t be bothered… disappointed experience today but the food was great

Always a great place for a meal, staff are all friendly and service is excellent. I love the chicken, and fish and chips here

I am generally a person who likes to give second chances. So despite my previous disappointing experience at the Harvester Monkspath, I decided to return in the hopes that things might have improved. Regrettably, I have been let down once again. My recent visit was nothing short of a disaster. As I entered, I was greeted by the sight of staff idly standing behind the bar, engrossed in their phones. Such a lack of professionalism right at the outset was alarming. The lack of cleanliness was another disheartening factor. Dirty floors, missing cutlery on our table – the state of the restaurant spoke volumes about the management's disregard for hygiene and overall presentation. This is far from what one would expect from any dining establishment. The food service was equally disappointing. The wrong food was sent to our table, and we had to wait an exorbitantly long time for both our starters and main courses to arrive. This significant lapse in service is simply unacceptable for any restaurant. The staff seemed uninterested and nonchalant, showing a total lack of enthusiasm or concern for their work. It's disheartening to see such a poorly organised and run establishment, particularly when dining out should be a pleasurable experience. In summary, my visit to Harvester Monkspath was an absolute letdown. The lack of cleanliness, inefficient service, and indifferent staff are signs of a poorly managed establishment. Regrettably, it falls far short of what can reasonably be called a restaurant. I strongly urge potential patrons to reconsider before choosing to dine here.

Popped in for food yesterday on the way back service was very good and food was lovely aswell 👌👍.

Very poor experience. Never seen such a filthy restaurant with so much discarded food on the floor, empty tables not cleared and drink spilt by drinks machine which was simply left until I pointed out the slip hazard! Clearly very understaffed as terribly slow service....

Amazing service through out my visit I was greeted with a smiling friendly member of staff think was the maneger that was on shift at the time she was very chatty just what you need in a business like yours. Quick service from victoria had a drink on table in few minutes of sitting down and ordered food about 5 minutes after . The food was the best ive had in ages i will be returning very very soon thank you so much made our day .

Arrived booked table , to be asked if we could sit in bar no I booked the restaurant. Ok no worries waited for them to find a table . Got seated waited 15 mins or more for no one to come over and take drinks...

Surprisingly good. Not been to a Harvester for many years. Dropped in for lunch. Very pleasant service. Food was excellent - nicely presented, generous portions and well cooked. Salad bar was good and included with main courses. Would be very happy to return.

Came in for dinner and my waiter Connor was attentive welcoming and a lovely young adult. Food came out quickly and was very nice!

Came here with the kids and Spanish visitors the food was great and the service was good. Only downside was it was cold as the heating had broken down but it didn’t spoil it we just kept our coats on.

Visited here with all the family on Christmas Day. Incredible meal and the service was second to none. Two young ladies Taylor & Sarah waited on us and they were both superb. A young lady Anjali served us our meals and was ever so polite and even the Manager Roxanne took the the time to check in on us all. Cannot fault this restaurant in anyway. To think all of the staff had given up their Christmas day to ensure everyone enjoyed theirs is heart warming. A big thank you to each and everyone of you for making our day so fantastic including the chefs who prepared and cooked our meals. We didn't quite manage to thank you all but I really hope you all see this and know how grateful we are to have received such impeccable service on such a special occasion and we will be back very soon. Many happy returns to all at Shirley Harvester.

Very impressed with the service we received. Booked a table online and upon arrival we were greeted by lovely lady. The food was delicious and everything we asked for was available. The manager was able to assist with my wife's dietary needs and was very professional. When we left the restaurant my wife was beaming. Its been a very long time since we have been able to have a meal out just the two of us and we could not have had a better evening, so much so we booked again the following weekend with our children and we were thrilled to receive the same quality of service. Very impressive for a chain restaurant. Great job by all the staff. Many thanks

No espresso martini which was a bad start, 25 minute wait for drinks and food wasn’t great which coupled with inattentive service made a birthday meal anything but special. No tip given and no desserts had as a result, a real shame although the salad bar was good!

Popped in here whilst visiting Shirley area of Solihull.We were greeted by Lisa and shown to our table very quickly. Lisa was very warm and genuine with her welcome to us, made fully aware of the Covid rules being followed and made to feel safe with the restaurant Covid policy. Salad bar was served by staff, and the lady was very pleasant and gave a good potion. Our meals arrived quickly, and were good size and value for money. Will come past again when in Solihull.

We went for breakfast here, it was really busy and the re weren’t many staff about. The ones that were working were run off their feet, but did so with smiles on their faces and were so nice & friendly. I wasn’t impressed by the ‘continental’ choices, what’s a continental breakfast without croissants and pastries! Plus the company expects the staff to serve this to customers instead of allowing self serve, which puts another staff member out of action. I was so impressed with the staff, but hope they get more staff soon to take the pressure off them.

As a regular customer of this restuarant we were really disappointed at our recent visit for my husbands birthday. The place looked shabby, dirty and untidy. The toilets were absolutely disgusting, they smelt and there was something horrid spread across the door to the ladies (god knows what?!).The starters arrived (on time so that’s something!) but looked nothing like breaded mushrooms which was what was ordered. More like tiny balls of overcooked batter. My husbands chicken strips were much the same, presentation and quality was just awful. The mains were generally ok although again quality not great, my daughters burger bun was so dried out she couldn’t eat it. The staff were only interested in talking to one another (sometimes over us!), not welcoming or friendly as expected. Overall it’s made me not want to return anytime soon!

Had a fabulous meal, served to us by the most loveliest lady called Lisa, who went out of her way, to make sure we had everything we wanted. From the meal to the service was a brilliant night. Thank you Lisa xx

Went for a mid week family meal. No expectation. However, it turn out to be a great experience. Great with a smile and a very polite staff member, shown to our table all goo so so far. The waitress turned up and very polite, helpful and up for a chat and a laugh, really nice. At the salad bar the staff member who fills your bowl was again really polite chatty just a really nice guy. The meal arrived in good time, piping hot, and was really good too. Overall, we have a great meal out, where there were no issues, with ice food and great staff. A really nice meal out.

Food was delicious. Service started out really well, friendly waitress, prompt service then it just fell apart.We were asked if everything was alright. No, I don’t come out for alright to be honest. That’s one step up from ok. Then I grabbed a drink from self serve, then another. The finished plates sat there for nearly half an hour. Paid and left. No apologies, no questions. Embarrassing.

Booked online with special requests as with an elderly parent. Professional friendly greeting and seating by a tall gent in a blue check shirt. Good and drinks order timely, baked potatoes a bit on the gray side so replaced with fries rest was very good.

My husband and I had breakfast this morning. 27/6/21 At the Havester in Monkspath. We really enjoyed the breakfast it was presented nice and was good and hot . Thank you to Dan and his team of chefs in the kitchen. Great job. Would also like to say how good the service was Megan served our table . She was very professional and was really attentive to me and my husband and other guest eatting breakfast in the restaurant. Would definitely recommend for breakfast.

Went on Fathers Day, the service was very slow, the waiter stood around chatting rather than serving, the salad bowls and empty glasses weren't cleared before the main course was served.

Came here with four of us and ordered all unlimited breakfasts and everything was absolutely perfect. Great quality sausage and bacon was not salty.

Brilliant food and service we shall be back in the coming weeks kids really enjoyed the food the salad bar looked great and fresh delicious

I have visited a few times recently with a young boy with Autism. At first, we were concerned about the noise and how busy the restaurant was but the staff were amazing! Roxy went above and beyond to make sure our visit was as easy and enjoyable as possible. It's rare to find a restaurant so understanding of special needs but Roxy and her team were honestly fantastic! We plan to visit regularly.

We used to visit the Harvester regularly before Covid. Today was our first time back and we were very disappointed. We waited ages at the door to be seated as there was no member of staff about. My daughter's food wasn't edible. Many items were unavailable on the menu. We waited about 40 minutes for our plates to be taken and to pay. I would expect this if they were busy, however there wasn't more than 5 tables occupied in the whole restaurant. Won't be coming back!

Bad Attitude of staff. Understaffed, poor service. Harvester are one of the worst Pub/ Restaurant chains.

Been here tonight and the service was excellent down to our waiter Stephen from the minute we walked in it was nothing but good vibes which put us in a good mood considering it’s only Monday.

Went for a breakfast, the first time for a long time. 3adults and one child.Given that we were experiencing Covid19 and everything that it entails, I was impressed with the seamless way in which our breakfast order was taken and then presented. Other than the requirement for mask wearing when moving around the restaurant it was a normal visit to a Harvester.Special praise is due to our server, Meghan and her manager, both of whom were professional and welcoming.Well done Harvester

Met my friend for breakfast on Sunday morning, good covid-19 measures in place, warm welcome, lovely fresh cooked breakfast. We were served by a lovely waitress (Megan), nothing was too much trouble, all served with a smile - albeit covered with a face mask! Will definitly be back. Well done to all the staff and management, keep it up.

Up in Monkspath for a family get together, ate out Saturday evening 10th October. It was extremely busy, and noise from children eating with family was deafening (it was still quite early and families departed after 20 minutes or so). Asked for drinks, tried to order a White Zinfandel rose (listed on drinks list), to be told none was available. I then asked for a Cinzano and lemonade, and the waitress asked whether this was a white or red wine !!!!. This also was unavailable. So had a lemonade. Waitness was pleasant although uninformed, and food took quite a time to arrive. The scampi which I had was soggy, and the whole meal a bit unappetising. Would not visit again, sadly, Perhaps this was due to it being a Saturday evening, but a poor showing all round.

I visited in August with my partner and two children for lunch as part of the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme.We were disappointed with a few things:- The cover measures weren't as good as we've seen in the various other places we've eaten out in during the restrictions. We found signage confusing for example and were redirected causing my husband and son having to wait further back in the queue than me and my younger son, causing a problem when we were trying to order at the salad bar.- We requested a very plain meal (one plain gammon steak with no chips, sides, sauces or salad) for my 7 year old that has additional needs. They were very unaccommodating around this. Where as I do appreciate it is a special order, the vast majority of places we visit are very understanding and helpful in their attitude. They offer to serve it at a Childs meal price or at a small discount. However the manager wouldn't even come and discuss it with us despite our kind waitress asking him twice. We didn't highlight his special needs but we were wearing our sunflower lanyard which normally people recognise and try and be accommodating where they can. - There was no ice cream left (at 12.30pm) meaning all the desserts the kids wanted were unavailable.The desserts that we did order came with items missing.- The staff (other than our waitress) were not particularly friendly or helpful. Perhaps a side affect of the scheme leaving the restaurant fairly busy but it was noticeable and impacted on our experience. We felt like a bit of an inconvenience.- And it was expensive! Two adult main meals, one childs menu meal, one plain small gammon steak (uneaten), 2 Childrens desserts and 4 soft drinks were around £65. I think that's quite a lot for the quality of the food and service. I was pleased we were paying less due to the government scheme but it has meant we've decided not to come back to Harvester in the future.

Visited this restaurant as part of the 'eat out to help out' scheme with our two young sons. We were seated at a table which was basically in the middle of the restaurant and had people pushing past our table every few minutes, literally inches away from us. At one point a woman actually walked past and coughed all my children! There was no one way system in place where we were sat so these people were walking past both ways. It was constant. We mentioned it to our waiter who agreed that the table shouldn't be in that position. Apparently it had been identified as an unsuitable table and was removed for a time but then management wanted it re-instated. Food was OK but I'm afraid until they tackle the problem with seating we won't be returning.

Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning and ordered vegetarian breakfast. There was no "service with a smile" from all members of staff.The poached eggs were more like hardboiled eggs. The toast was burnt and the roasti was dripping in oil and inedible. The veg sausages were dry and like rocks. Will never return for breakfast.

Visited here for my Birthday with my husband and two grown sons. Tables were well spaced and hand sanitizer available on entrance. Once service commenced it was prompt and all staff were courteous and efficient. We have not visited the Harvester chain for a long time as we found their portions a little on the restricted side & the salad and bread rolls did not appear to be fresh or very appetising . . .but upon this visit the salad bar & small white bread rolls were all extremely fresh and most appealing the food was hot, well cooked and filling. Had a slight problem with one of our ordered drinks but our waitress deducted it from our bill.Would we eat here again - definitely

Had an evening meal, it was fairly quiet when we got there but filled up as we were waiting for our food. We ordered two mains and then waited 45 minutes for luke warm food. The chicken was overcooked and dry, the chips were nothing to write home about and went cold quick, the cod was ok but once again not hot... what a shame! So unimpressed so we didn't bother with dessert. We noticed our food came out at the same time as another table who had arrived 15 minutes after we had got there... we won't be back.

Had a reservation booked for 21pm. arrived earlier and stayed at the line.still 20:45 and the guy just said "sorry but have to cancel your booking we are totally lost at the kitchen". Really? had to go away and find a decent place to have dinner.totally not acceptable. will never return

After visiting the restaurant last night,I won't be returning,the food was not could I ordered skewers with rice and that's what I got,a bit of steak 3 prawns and this the problem..peppers.they were mouldy on the stalk and couldn't be eatrn.i told the waitress and she said it had been grilled! The rice was only warm and tasted horrible,and a teaspoon of what I suppose was to be coleslaw.waste of money,not going bsck

So revisted today with our teenage son and some family members. Our server was kind and helpful unlike the food which was terrificiy inedible. One of our party made the mistake of ordering a wrap. Which had Slaw in one half and Salsa in the other half, My teenage son is faily fussy about these things so refused to eat the rest of his food. I was super impressed with the service today so great job there. Now work on the quality of the food.

Never been here before, came with a friend as they fancied it. Waitress who served us, name on receipt was Natasha, was very polite and attentive. I overheard some of the interactions between the staff members and other customers and all the staff seem to give excellent customer service. The food was okay, firecracker prawns, I expected to be spicy, they weren't and were served with what tasted like apple sauce, which I thought was strange combination. Also, I realise food is left under lights for a few minutes before serving but please do not serve cold food such as coleslaw in hot crockery. The negatives are minor though and I would return here in the future.

Last time I came here I had a really bad experience, but because of lockdown, I decided to give it another chance. It was a decent service, the website wasn't working so we called and made a reservation. It was quiet which was expected after the crazy long lockdown, service was really good, food was average and did taste like frozen Iceland food, so not amazing but not food that would make me want to come again anytime soon. But least the service is much better than my last visit.

A quiet Saturday afternoon, the place was quiet but took a while to be noticed by any staff. The food was okay, just okay, however the menu was dirty, not been cleaned in quite some time and it’s nice to read on the toilet wall that my mom is a c@@t, very family friendly.

The Sheriff was top banana with me, due to my allergies. Thank you Sheriff for taking time out to check the food for me.

I had been given a voucher to use here as a gift, I used to come here often but it had gone downhill so this was the first visit in a year or so. The salad bar was a disgrace, this was 6pm on a Monday evening and it was virtually empty with random items in bowls that didn't correspond with any of the labels. There was food all over the area that had not been cleaned, the salad dressings bottles were messy and there was no butter or bread rolls in sight. The meal itself was ok but nothing special as the chicken was quite dry on the BBQ Chicken Stack. I won't be returning in a hurry, such a shame as the voucher was a gift so a waste of my colleagues money.

What’s not to like? Reasonably priced, all you can eat salad bar and a great menu. We were served today be ‘The Sheriff’ what a really lovely man, he made us all feel welcome and made us laugh! The food was tasty and hot. Definitely recommend.

No Traditional Roast Beef, Roast Potatoes and Yorkshire Pudding on the Sunday Menu. The very thick gravy for thew Chicken was more like a sauce.

We came for my sons birthday and we was a group of 12 people. Waited over an hour for 3 starters then another 40 mins for mains . 2 meals never arrived and two meals of scampi were cold ! The plays were warmer than the food ! And it was a Thursday evening so they wasn’t even busy . Sorry but we won’t be eating there again

We had organised a get together with family and friends for breakfast on Sunday morning to catch up. The place was not as busy as I have seen it before but that didn’t matter.Our server “The Sheriff” took our order. He was very pleasant and had some good banter with us. Opportunities were taken to upsell to us and he did not let our plates go empty without reminding us we could order some more if needed.Food when received was great with no complaints.The children enjoyed the continental options.Great food and excellent service. Good service and good food. We went on a very busy Friday night. Both ordered off the set menu as that seemed best value for money.

Service is fine. Food very poor. Wouldn't bother again. Some food was cold. Small portions too and it's not cheap.

Booked a table and had to wait to be seated. After waiting 45 minutes i asked the manager how long it would be only to be told i had only be waiting 10 minutes!
