The cocktails were fantastic, the food was lovely and the service was incredibly attentive. Our server Jo did a great job, especially considering we were a large table.

Christos was an excellent server, very helpful and efficient. Food was tasty but not particularly warm, but was rectified without issue when raised.

Christos was a fantastic host, He made good recommendations and had great knowledge of the menu. The surf and turf was cooked to perfection and the lighting and ambience created a warm and cosy atmosphere. Prices are fair considering the service and quality of food.

Wow! We decided to have some lunch here to celebrate my Dad’s birthday & we had an incredible experience. The staff is attentive and very welcoming. The food was sublime & incredibly tasty. And overall the atmosphere really lent itself to the experience as the decor & table was upscale yet comfortable. I really couldn’t recommend Browns more.

Decided to eat out for Easter Sunday lunch and could not have picked a better restaurant. This newly refurbished restaurant ticked every box. The food was delicious ✅ The setting and decor beautifully designed and put together✅ The atmosphere and ambience laid back and classy ✅ The service polite, friendly and attentive without being too " in your face " ✅ Prices are not extreme for a restaurant of this calibre.✅ The menu and choice of dishes were varied and well thought out. ✅ Location great _ at Exeter Quay area✅ Free parking ✅ All in all a place deserving a fantastic review. We had the Sunday roast lunches which were delicious and plentiful and beautifully presented. A special mention goes to Raphael_ our main server today _ who was knowledgeable, polite, and very professional.. The addition of live piano music being played in the background certainly added to the restful and classy dining experience. Thank you to Paul the pianist for this. We also met with the manager of the restaurant and thanked him personally for the fine dining experience, passing on our compliments to all concerned. Would thoroughly recommend Browns and we we will definitely be returning.

The burger is incredibly succulent and moist, and the wine was soft and comforting in the best way. To add to that the waiter Raffael was calm and presented the wine very elegantly. Very mindful, very demure.

This this restaurant exceeds all what I have been told about it I thought it was at the Old Harvester restaurant in Exeter which it was very impressed food was wonderful the service was fantastic excellent all round if this is anything like Miller and Carter and we are going to have a lovely lovely meal there

Food was well presented but small portion. Chicken Caesar salad had around 4/5 pieces of chicken. Crumble was good size but with a small ball of ice cream. Service slow Drinks expensive Cider £6.50! Cordial and soda £3 plus! Bill was completely wrong! Overcharged quite dramatically! Please check you bills! It was rectified but only when I made a fuss! They definitely need to improve billing system and speed up service

I went to browns last night with a group of friends 9 in total, we were seated at 6.40pm given our menus one of which was a set early bird menu that stopped at 7pm and was asked if we would like water for our table, 7.10pm came and we were still waiting for our water and no one had been over to take our order or ask for other drinks. I eventually called a waitress over and she finally took our drinks order and sorted the water for the table. On taking our food order the waitress stated that it was past the 7pm set menu time so we wouldn’t be able to order that, after telling them that we had been waiting to have our orders taken she eventually agreed we were allowed to order from the set menu if we would like. When our meals arrived we had to ask for butter for our bread, sauces twice, and even 2 plates (for a sharing meal) Two of us had the £70 chateaubriand which was the sharing dish that was meant to consist of the steak, fries, onion ring, vine tomatoes and two sauces one of which came out and had half of the sauce missing compared to the other sauce and no vine tomatoes ( we didn’t actually realise the tomatoes were missing/included until we relooked at the menu) but you would think for £70 that meal would have been perfect! We ordered our puddings and they came out within minutes of ordering and one was meant to be an tiramisu but was solid and wasn’t at all like any tiramisu we have seen/tried so didn’t eat. We then had to ask for our bill to find they had added a £35 service charge! Now we wouldn’t have minded this so much but as pointed out by one of our friends not once did the staff come back to us to ask if we would like extra drinks or the fact we had to ask for all extra things which should have come out with our meals We have been left quite disappointed by our first and probably last experience at browns

Visited not too long ago and I must say the service and food was exceptional, the young gentleman came promptly and took our order professionally. This is the first time me and my friends have visited a restaurant like this and I must say it did not disappoint. Not only was the young gentleman exceptional the young lady on the bar was also exceptional, making drinks promptly and providing a friendly conversation whilst the drinks were being made. I thoroughly encourage family’s to visit or any group of people who are looking to celebrate an occasion, the staff do truly make the evening special. I will be back!

Disappointing. Having been to the flagship restaurant many years ago, this one fell far short. It was very quiet (Monday night), but despite the plethora of tables available, a family was seated right next to us. This was awkward as it was so quiet that we couldn't not hear each other's conversations. I asked to move, which they accommodated, but have some common sense! When we ordered, I was told the fish wasn't available on the set menu. We should have been told this before we decided what to have and preferably given another fish option in its place (they didn't do this) The food was quite tasty but not amazing and the pudding (chocolate brownie) was a stodgy mess that had the rubbery texture and variable temperature of something that had been microwaved. The staff were very attentive but actually too much so - the minute a meal was finished, they whisked the plate away and were right back with the next course. Our whole three course meal from start to finish was over in an hour! They also slap a sneaky "discretionary" 12.5% service charge on. For larger tables, this is customary, but not for two people. I'm sure this is done in the hope that you don't realise and whack another 10% on top. Won't return.

We went for a late Mother's Day but it was not good, I wouldn't recommend it. I had lobster it was all bone or shell don't know whether you're supposed to be able to eat the body or not? but I thought you were, the people I was with had steak and it wasn't good badly cooked it was very expensive don't think it was value for money😱

Kelly was absolutely exceptional. And the young man that took over were fantastic. The food was delicious and the service was even better.

Lovely atmosphere & decor, clean, & helpful waitressing staff however not enough of them. Unfortunately the coffee wasn't hot, & one of the meals looked as though it had been standing for some time. Once brought to our waitress' attention it was replaced quickly. It was a busy morning, however looking at the location & weather forecast, being busy should have been expected. You need to up your game when charging these prices!

First visit and we were served by Nikki. What a star she is! Bright and bubbly, and made us feel really welcome and comfortable. She was just amazing. Only fault we could find was with food which we found was more warm than hot. Overall we will be back though, due to the wonderful service we received.

The service was great, for a relatively busy Saturday lunch, Millie and Cristos were great. I had the pan fried cod and found it a little bland but might be personal taste! Would definitely return though, it is a gorgeous restaurant and the atmosphere was lovely

Today was my second visit to browns since it open, the first time I came for a roast (which was excellent) and this afternoon we had the afternoon tea. The food was amazing and the service was really good. The lovely Jude served us to begin with, she was super attentive and kept us really informed. She then went on a break and christos took over, he came over to intro himself and to say he’d be available if we needed anything which was really nice. Really great all in all and super lovely staff.

I have been twice, first time it was nice for Valentines Day. The second time, it was not busy, though it took 20 mins to serve drinks on two occasions, they did not have the items on the menu, and the £5 salad came out as one piece of lettuce and one small tomato which wasn't too impressive. They did say afterwards they were changing their menus and refunded the salad. Ha.

Abouslety disgusting waiter one individual refused my 5 week pregnant girlfriend and her 9 year old son from using the toilet leaving her embarrassed On the other hand the manager handled it very well and came and apologized so my gratitude goes to him

I’ve been to Browns many times over the years so was excited when Exeter’s new restaurant opened. However I’ve been a few times and the service has always been sub par. I went at Christmas, when it was empty, and they refused us a table because we didn’t have a booking (we could’ve booked immediately after as it was empty, so that was weird). I went for New Year’s Eve lunch when it was empty again and the service was incredibly slow, the staff were ignoring us but stood milling about chatting. The food was slow to arrive, but was nice. I then went last night for the ‘launch’ party. It was fine at the beginning, we had some canapés and a free drink. However when it came to dinner, the service was abysmal. It took a bit of time to take our order, which ended up just being bread and a main each. We waited for about 1 hour and 20 minutes to receive our mains, by this point all of us were exhausted and hangry. The staff completely ignored us after we had ordered, no one came to check in on us, apologise for the delay, or offer more drinks. It took me literally getting out my seat and asking where our food was after it had been an hour, and they then said it would be another 10 minutes, which suggests it was completely forgotten about. A different server did apologise and acknowledge we should be annoyed. By this time it was 8:30pm and we all just wanted to go to bed. The food was nice enough, but was tainted by the wait. No one came to ask how the food was and after we finished we then had to spend ages trying to get the bill. We had planned to get desserts but by that point, we all just wanted to leave. They then had the nerve to add service charge to the bill, which we refused to pay. But there was not really any apology, they could’ve offered us a drink or to not pay for, I dunno, the bread as a good will gesture. We had also watched multiple people get 2-3 courses during the time we waited, and the excuse that it was busy was obviously nonsense as they had plenty of staff and it was a bookings only event, so they knew how many people would be there. At one point, we saw staff stood around chatting. So there was, to us, no excuse for poor service. If they had acknowledged and apologised without me getting out my seat to get attention, we probably would’ve been less frustrated. But they simply didn’t have an interest. And we were a table of 6! Consistently the service has been the issue at Browns. The food is good. The drinks are good. The atmosphere is good. But it’s been tainted for me and I am really disappointed in how I’ve been treated by the incompetent staff there.

This is the fourth time we have been. We went to the re launch night. Was not expecting as good a service as it was busier. However, it did not disappoint. The canapés were fantastic, complimentary fizz, drinks and three course dinner. We were served by liam, we have been served by him before. Very attentive, calm and made us feel welcome.
