Disappointing meal, I chose a salad, but the plate was warm so the lettuce was slimy, the bread greasy. Only saving grace was the melt in the middle chocolate pudding.

I don't think an 8oz steak, 10 chips and half a tomato equates to £19:50. The only reason I didn't make a scene was because it was mother's day and there were other families there. We were told there's a 40 minute wait, this was fine. Turned out to be over an hour.

Very slow service, waited over an hour for our food to arrive

Food was good but multiple mistakes were made with our orders that led to delays which isn’t ideal for a work lunch trip. Mains: forgot to prepare one meal - or just got the order wrong. Kitchen clearly had to start from scratch once we pointed out the error meaning one of our party was waiting a considerable time while all others ate. Puddings: Exactly the same error with dessert, leaving one of our group waiting while others ate. Led to having to rush back despite allowing 1hr 45m for lunch. I’ll come again at a weekend but probably won’t be choosing the Pinhoe Hoard anytime I need to be somewhere after lunch!

Oh dear. Your poor staff. It seems they were overwhemled this evening. Maybe you had unplanned absences or simply didn't allow enough staff for a busy Saturday night but everything suffered, including your own people who were clearly distressed by not being able to provide a good service. Some were in or close to tears! They wait for food was not the advised 40 minutes but 120 minutes. When it did arrive it was poorly/over cooked. - and they knew it. No point in mentioning this as I couldn't manage another long wait. Sadly, this is not the first time I have had a similer experience at this venue so I will be cautios about returning.

We waited 40 minutes for starters , 35 minutes for our main course. My 4 year old granddaughter was very hungry by this time. My granddaughter accidentally spilt her drink , the waitress was informed and returned with some napkins which we had to clean up ourselves. My main had to be returned (ceaser salad) as was tasteless and lettuce was limp, unfortunately I forgot to take a photo. My granddaughter ordered an ice cream sundae which was a big disappoint as per photo !! We won’t be returning that’s for sure!!

Took my youngest in for a drink and some food but their kitchen was closed this day so unfortunately we only got a drink and crisps. It wasn't overly busy but had a nice welcoming atmosphere and it looks very nice inside. The bar areas are really big, the place was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend a visit. They have a beer garden with a play area for kids too.

Visited for work meeting. Service v slow and food looked like it had been literally thrown on the plates and had no plate appeal. For the price very expensive. Shame

Absolutely disgusting food,one person serving with a face like thunder, waited ages for the food to come out.it was badly cooked and looked like it was just chucked on the plate, think a 10 year old good have done better!never would I visit this place again! I would advise to avoid this place at all costs

Absolutely fantastic quiz night, amazing atmosphere great fun. Prices are fair, quiz prizes are worth going and the staff are very professional and welcoming.

Absolutely terrible service, we booked 4:45-6:45 as we had another activity booked for 7. The waiters completely ignored us after seating us, I had to go to find somebody to take our order, even though the pub was extremely empty. We waited over 1.5hrs for food although we asked after it twice to which they were “just plating it up”. we had to leave without eating as we didn’t have enough time to get to our activity. Very disappointing as this was a birthday meal and ruined our night.

Always warm and friendly atmosphere. Great food and drink, really nice place for kids and Stu always greats our family like we have been going for years! Highly recommend

First time visitors as new to the neighborhood. As a relatively new build pub I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Lovely atmosphere, great food and kind staff. Most importantly for us, something on the menu for everyone! Will be back to our new local

Poor service. Had to wait 40 minutes for drinks and another hour for food. Food wasn’t even hot very small portions and overpriced. Won’t be going there to eat again

I ate, I sat, I quizzed, I conquered (I lost).

Not a great experience to be honest. We on a Monday afternoon, party of 2 and there was only 2 other tables in use. It took 45 minutes for our mains, which is fine and they were tasty, however it then took another 50 minutes for pudding. It was obvious we had been forgotten about because after 35 minutes I asked where it was and was told it would just be a few more. 15 mins later and our half cold, clearly microwaved dessert arrived with no acknowledgement. The place is also filthy, the table, floor, bathroom and highchairs were gross.

Returned here as friends were saying it is much improved . Hubbie and I had the steak fillet with a mini pie. The food tasted good apart from it being a small portion and £25 . When the waitress put the plate infront of me I nearly said “ where is the rest of it “? I never have the need for a pudding but was still hungry and the pudding selection was not to my taste so I left there not completely full For an expensive dish there needed to be more potatoes and the gravy to go with the pie was also not enough . I think the quality of the food has improved but if your going to charge £25 it has to be a good sized plate of food . Would I return here , probably not ?

Tracey was our server and was lovely! They brought out a surprise birthday brownie for my Nan with she loved. Food was great, will definitely come again and would recommend to friends.

The food was lovely!! We had sea bass, curry and a chicken burger - everyone thoroughly enjoyed! It was served hot, and was full of flavour. The staff that we came across were all wonderful! They work so hard, and still manage to keep a smile on. We are yet to have a negative experience at the Pinhoe Hoard.

The pinhoe hoard has been our nearest pub for about 6 years and we’ve always enjoyed going there for lunches and dinners! But I really felt compelled to review; we got married yesterday and at short notice/same day notice they reserved an area of the pub for us to celebrate after! Was a wonderful evening and they looked after us very well!

Waited 3/4 for food (which had obviously been forgotten)… no apology only a lame excuse “it’s on its way”!! We went for the quiz which was rushed and ended up trying to eat at the same time… very disappointing!!

Stopped for a quick tea after having some family time, big mistake. No tables free unless we sat in the bar area, not ideal but as the children were older we thought it would be ok. We ordered via the QR code on the table and waited, after almost an hour our food arrived. The portions have definitely got smaller with one plate containing 11 chips to go with scampi and salad, the side salad was tiny. For the money we spent it wasn’t good value and we all came away hungry. Annoyingly we won’t be returning as it used to to be a lovely pub with decent size meals.

Martin was a fantastic barman and curated a friendly and comfortable atmosphere, relatively local to where I live and I will definitely be returning!

Mediocre service - I had to go up and remind the staff to come and take our drinks order 30 minutes after being seated, food was nice, then had to go and remind staff again to bring our pudding as they did not come at all after we recited our mains. Pretty poor as there was maximum 10 other tables to serve.

Tyler was very welcoming. 10/10 service from the minute we walked in to the minute we walked out. Stuie who took our order was very polite and helped with our choices of drinks, again 10/10 service. Lovely restaurant to dine in.

Not great for a Monday afternoon. Ordered online waited an age had to chase up. Drinks dumped on table with no word. Then when food arrived was warm at best, some of it missing and nothing like the photos on here or the speel on the menu. When we chased up missing ingredients was addressed but nothing communicated to us once it arrived. Not something we would want to repeat again, I'm afraid.

The food was delicious, nice and hot temperature. We visit quite a lot and enjoy meeting the new staff. Beers were great and my wife enjoyed the gin! Thank you we are looking forward to our next visit

Overhearing manager saying we’re gonna shut service early was not very good start. Food ordered was very slow coming out with a 55 minute wait. Also being told that much of the veggie Sunday menu food was not available…. We went in at 5.45 pm so it was not busy. The young waiters did apologise but really considering the delay the lack of Food, the manager should’ve made a point of coming out and seeing us as we were a party of eight.

Everything was lovely...slight mistake on drinks order, swiftly rectified by our waitress who was very friendly and efficient. So many thanks to Tracy. My only complaint was no tomatoes in our chicken ceasar salad ...I realise it doesn't necessarily belong... I just like them.

Had a excellent meal at pinhoe hoard today with my family. Two excellent staff, Tyler and James, Customer service was exceptional! Food was amazing as always.

I had previously given this place a high rating review (2 years ago) where I said how fantastic Pinhoe Hoard was and how much it had changed. However, on my previous visit (a couple of weeks ago) I could not have been more disappointed. Food wait time was ridiculous (we arrived at 4:30pm for dinner and ended up receiving our desserts at 6:45pm!) The food was also just poor quality - very chewy and overdone. I wasn’t given any chance to feedback at the time, as no one came to ask how things were at any point in the meal. I’ve been asked to have my stars reflect my old review. I would ask the Pinhoe Hoard to have their food and service reflect the standard they used to have in order to earn those stars back!

Two words short staffed. The guy did what he could but with 2 people running the whole place inevitable wouldn't work. We had food missing. Cold food given back and never returned to us! Not a single check in didn't come back to take plates away, order more drinks or order dessert I had to keep going to the bar. He was apologetic and doing his best by the time we left you could tell he was broken. Not a great experience unfortunately.

We came here with friends for the evening and were really impressed. We come here quite regularly as it's local to us . Other visits have been a bit hit and miss but on our last few visits the service and food have really improved. It's great that you can bring dogs as they are part of the family but on this occasion we didn't. We were served by Stu who was very friendly and helpful but he was run ragged as it was so busy which is nice to see the place so busy . Thank you for a nice evening 😊

We were a table of 6 with 4 eating. We ordered around 5.45 and explained we needed to leave by 7 to go on else where. We were told no problem. After 45mins we chased up the food. It arrived at 6.50 leaving us just 10 mins to eat. I ordered the fish with new potatoes. It was disgusting! The potatoes clearly were warmed up from the day before. Brown in the middle & the skins were wrinkled. The fish was over cooked and clearly had been cooked in the same griddle as the meat. The steamed veg were wrinkly. Needless to say I couldn’t eat it. The other 3 eat theirs (scampi, a burger and fish & chips) but all said it wasn’t very nice and would not ever go back.

Second visit. We were seated by our host Stuie, the restaurant was very busy but he squeezed us in. I ordered the Hawkstone lager on Stuies recommendation, lovely pint. I had the chicken tikka and the tart for dessert, fantastic, service with a smile and a great atmosphere. I will definitely be returning next month.

Me and my boyfriend went for lunch the food was amazing we had roast pork it was stunning. Stuie who served us was very friendly and helpful and it's a really nice place to eat. Never been before but will definitely go again.

What a fantastic meal. Sunday lunch with my partner. The restaurant was quite busy but not overwhelming. Stuie was very helpful, nothing was a problem. The Roast pork was lovely and tender. We will return.

I had lunch there today, never again. I paid £18.50 for a serloin steak. Normal price. But all I got was a steak, one small mushroom, one tomato and a few chips. I was extremely disappointed. It doesn't take a qualified chef to make that. I'll never be eating there again, absolute rip off.

Little bit disappointed as it was boxing afternoon and they weren't busy .waited a long time for all courses ,staff were pleasant but being had ordered all our meals ahead of going and there was 8 adults .And when deserts Christmas pudding came it was with ice cream no custard or cream offered ,also we had fruit crumbles and very very little custard came infact we asked for more as it was so small .I am sorry to have written this but was disappointed as Exeter is where our family is and have had a few meal there and they have always had good meals .

The booking system and run up to the evening proceeded smoothly. However, the choice for the New Year’s Eve menu was limited, and noticeably pricier than my previous visits earlier in the year. We eat at the Pinhoe Hoard regularly due to its close proximity to our home. My daughter and I pre-ordered the chicken dish, and although the chicken was dry, the meals we had as a family were very tasty, and we enjoyed the food on the whole. The portion sizes were also very generous. However, we were not impressed by the fact that once seated in the dining area, it took over an hour before receiving our first course. However, even though we had to prompt the waitress in the end, the staff were friendly and helpful considering they appeared to have their hands full. Further more, we are members of the Goumet Society which attracts a 25% discount at your restaurant, but sadly this did not work on our most recent visit to you. New Year’s Eve is not a bank holiday, and neither is it a weekend day, so there should have not been a problem in using this promotion, and this was one of the reasons we decided to eat out on this evening. Normally, we wouldn’t due to the inflated prices on this day.

Went Xmas eve (table of 8) and was very disappointed, 50 mins wait for starters and then mains, my daughter order pan fried sea Bass, which wasn't pan fried, I had chicken curry which wasn't great either, other meals were ok nothing special, the manager was very apologetic and knocked all food off the bill so only paid for drinks, I appreciate it was Xmas but there didn't seem to be any planning or thought at all.

My Mum and I went for New Year’s Day lunch and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience.we had 2 courses - main and pudding followed by coffees. We had a fantastic waitress, Ming who was so friendly and efficient. Thanks Ming!

Great food and excellent service was had.

Mediocre food, very slow service (although it was done with a smile at least) and overpriced for product received. It could have been on the money if the food was up to scratch, but it was overcooked, unloved, dry, items missed from the order and was universal to all dishes so wasn't worth sending back or leaving, we were too invested in our 3 hours visit to worry about it. I felt the need to ward others away if you were hoping for a nice family get together. Might be OK for a quick bite as the room was comfortable and relaxing enough. Toilets could to with a haul-over. I have however only been the once and I am prepared to accept that we just got a bad day, middle of the Christmas/New Year week, on a Monday, busier that expected, staffing issues are a possibilities. I will try and visit again when the weather is better and compare and contrast.

We were a very large party and as such, we had to pre-order which is fine. Having pre-ordered, I was disappointed that the food still took an hour to arrive. The venue is fantastic but there was a lack of staff on the day. Service was slow, the food distinctly average but we had a great time. Unfortunately one member of the team serving us had bad BO which was noticed by most of our group. A little staff training would help but the few staff that were there worked really hard. I will be giving it another try and hopefully they will be better prepared.

Table of 8 (3 kids) No burgers. Service so so so slow. Had to ask to take food order. Ask where food was twice as Food took ages and came in at three separate times across 30 minutes. One dish had uncooked potatoes. One dish (hunters chicken) was missing salad. Had to ask for bill then ten minutes later had to go to bar to ask to pay. Get someone in who knows how to run a restaurant. Don’t have waiters serving at the bar. Just a dismal experience.

Loved my visit here. Good attentive service. The pub has a nice atmosphere about it, cosy and warms and contemporary. Also dog friendly. We were quickly seated to out table. You can choose table service just by scanning the qr code on the menu which has plenty of food choices to choose from. Also plenty of drink choices too.

Overall I would give 4 stars. Ming who was serving us was really friendly and helpful and couldn’t have done more for us despite the restaurant being very busy on Christmas Day. Some of the food was really nice, the main downfall was almost all the veg was undercooked and crunchy but I feel like on a normal day when they weren’t so up against it this probably would’ve have been the case and therefore would definitely recommend a visit 😊 Thank you to all the staff for working on Christmas Day!

Very very disappointed with lunch menu offer as I ordered chicken tenders and fries 3 tenders and it's apparently a 1,000 calories no way, I have visited wether spoons and had 5 chicken tenders and chips 748 calories £.9.25 with a thatchers zero, which I had to pay £5.40 for in your pub which was more than my husbands alcoholic pint, So as you can guess from this review we will not be visiting the pinhoe hoard again

Fish and chips absolutely delicious, didn't have to wait too long even though it was a busy day. Everyone friendly and helpful, relative had a scooter and a good table was found so he could pull up properly.

Ok, but sat at a drafty table next to a Christmas party, which was loud for 2 people eating. We need to go to the bar to order food as no table service within a reasonable time

Went for lunch to celebrate my dad's 92nd birthday with my sister and her husband. Friendly welcome, good selection of beers and lagers including Hawkstone which was a lovely pint. Food was served quickly and was great. Dad said his pie was very tasty and brother in law said it was the best fish and chips he'd had in a pub. Staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Thanks for making it a lovely lunch with my dad.
