Served by Becky, who was lovely and very thorough :) It was cold in the restaurant and some items have been changed on the menu, not a big fan of the changes, prefer some of the old items

Lovely and friendly service from Abigail, great food. One of our favourite places to go if we aren’t sure where to eat. Highly recommend.

They have recently had a refurb done and the restaurant looks stunning, everything is so clean and fresh and the building itself really stands out from the main road. We visited with family and we all ordered our favourite dishes. The steak was melt in your mouth delicious as was the pudding! Highly recommend the waffle with ice cream & toffee sauce! Our server was so welcoming and warm from the moment we arrived, nothing was to much trouble. Safe to say we will definitely be returning.

Have been to this Harvester many times. Great service and food is of good quality. Our most recent visit was particularly good thanks to our server Abbie.

Lovely to see the refurbishment, great service from both Becky and Alarna, Atmosphere of restaurant lovely, food delicious and great to see some updates to the menus. Timing on drinks and food was perfect. Easy parking too.

Could not have asked for better service. Very quick on arrival to select drinks, then gave us a few minutes before coming back for order. Brought over a lunch time menu as well, which we did select from. Starters arrived after about 5 minutes which was excellent then mains shortly afterwards. Excellent quality of food and preparation. Waitress was very chatty maintained eye contact, gave us time for selections very efficient and willing. Ladies toilets rather disappointed to find no soap in dispensers and no hand sanitizer, although soap was in a large commercial canister and there was sanitizer out in the restaurant area. Also toilets very smelly as walked in.

No draft beers,cat all apart from carling and no jacket potatoes, and the salad bar looked disgusting. What next.

Called in on a Sunday early evening, on our way home Seated quickly and menus given Waitress was friendly, took our order quickly Starters and drinks arrived! Starters ok, no style or substance, just a bowl with 5 ‘calamari strips’ Mains arrived, we had ordered the 14oz gammon, only got 7oz Order large chips, got less chips than a normal portion, Waitress ordered the ‘extra’ gammon, which arrived, over cooked, after my partner had finished all of his meal! No cutlery on table, had to ask 3 times Food was not hot, and even colder by the time cutlery arrived! No salt and pepper on table No offer of sauces etc ( mustard, mayo) No napkins on table No Baileys available ( waitress very apologetic!) very few lagers available As we left, we were caught in the cross fire of customers complaining they hadn’t received the food they ordered 40 minutes previously, and the waiter shouting ‘oh my god’ and rolling his eyes and storming into the kitchen, being shouted at by other staff members! No management presence, no organisation, not worth the £90 bill

I stayed at the Premier inn, I decided to eat at the restaurant as the choice is limited to the garage up the road. Imagine my disgust 9 months later receiving a fine from DBCL bailiffs for £170. All because the carpark was full when I came back from a funeral. Absolutely disgusting, food was dry, out of date. Staff showed absolutely zero interest. I personally hope both these establishments fail. & replaced with business that respect customers. Never ever again will I stay here. EVER. Improve the situation & the review improves. You just lost a very regular customer.

Amazing service for becky who recently moved here used to be my favourite waitress and the other harvester in St albans now she is here and still as fantastic as ever

Thought we would try again after refurb ~ not impressed Our favourite waitresses have gone, Vicky And Chrissy are no longer there, these were well loved and professional staff who could not do enough for customers. We thought that as refurb had been completed they would be fully functioning, but no sweetcorn on salad bar and limited amounts and choice of other salad items, as I only have the salad bowl I was very disappointed, then to make matters worse, no soft whippy ice cream - why go to a harvester if no sweetcorn, no ice cream and no friendly atmosphere. In fact only 1 ,member of staff we have seen before, won’t be returning. Where oh where have the excellent staff gone.

Friendly staff great service. And food was good but shame the menu has changed.

Very busy but great atmosphere, staff go above and beyond. Really good with children. The food took a while to come out and we was very disappointed the burger we ordered was supposed to come with cheese etc and didn't. It was over cooked as we're my chicken fries. Portions really small and the plates are tiny rectangular ones so when cutting food goes flying. Won't be returning.

I was greeted upon entry to the restaurant with a smile from a polite waitress. The food was reasonably priced and cooked just as we asked. But to top it off was the outstanding service from Priscilla. A lot of staff at other restaurants could learn a lot from her. She was polite, attentive, and patient.

I like this place as it is just off J 9 of the M1 and handy place to get a good meal with salad buffet rather than the usual Motorway service station junk food.

Booked food went In sat down for there to be no food, was looking forward to it they had no steaks no burgers no chicken hardly any salad no anything they should tell you before hand that they have no food then to let you come in and be disappointed, I went in and sat down as found out there was no food I left and I got a message saying your booking cancelled because apparently we was late even though I was sat down.

Failed on every level to offer any kind of eating experience. Have been before and was not impressed but second chance was far worse. Would not recommend this place and will certainly not be going back.

Fantastic breakfast cooked by Gracie this morning, looked after impeccably by the lovely Cilla as always. Going to to miss this lovely lot for the next few weeks while the refurb is under way.

Very disappointed I know it was NYE but we were unbelievably rushed. Food arrived within 5 mins, before we had even returned from the salad bar but just as well we had some salad as none of the usual garnish on the plates. Plates cleared whilst others still eating and bill brought before dessert finished. As others have stated this site is well overdue a bit of redecoration.

Slow service. Missed some ingredients off my dish. By the time they arrived I’d finished the meal. No offer to reduce price.

Only had drinks ,but loads of dirty tables .

Food and service good. But the restaurant is in need of a face lift to replace worn stained carpets and general decor

Well it's food... That's about all you can say for it, portions aren't fantastic, meat was dry and they delivered the wrong order without a word.

The christmas dinner ( brussles were not even barely cooked broccli and potatoes only a tad more cooked. Very disappointed and will not attend for this again. Service good and friendly

Christmas Day at harvester Poor food quality and quantity , inedible food uncooked vegetables, lukewarm meat ,laughable amount of gravy hard potatoes, 30 mins plus waiting times for food The waitresses were absolutely perfect considering all the complaints they were receiving from multiple tables and they were very apologetic towards everyone and they were the only nice thing about the Christmas meal

**Terrible Christmas Lunch Experience** I had Christmas lunch at Harvester Flamstead St Albans , and it was nothing short of a disaster. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with poor service and disappointment. It took an unreasonably long time just to be acknowledged and even longer to be seated. The restaurant itself was dirty and messy, which immediately raised concerns about hygiene. Unfortunately, the food was even worse. It was old, unappetizing, and downright disgusting. Not a single person in our group finished their meal—it was that bad. For a day as special as Christmas, we expected a warm, festive atmosphere and decent food. Instead, we got the opposite. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, and I strongly recommend avoiding this place. Save your time, money, and holiday spirit by going elsewhere.

Nice and clean, with friendly staff as well. Plenty of food choices at reasonable prices.

Very disappointed in the food. My friend is a vegan and hardly anything available as they had sold out. She ended up with a burger but she didn’t want but only thing available. She asked for no cheese on it and it still came with cheese. The restaurant was very quiet at the time we were there. So surprised by the lack of choice. I had chicken skewers and the chicken was dry, tasteless and very tough. Profiteroles for dessert was not nice as pastry soggy. Not the normal level of food I’ve had in the past. Waitress was surly and unwelcoming. Was told it was due to getting ready for refurb and things will improve in February when they reopen. Will wait and see.

Food really poor, small portions for what you pay and not particularly tasty. Service was very good though. Really attentive and polite young man.

Restaurant was busy, advised on phone that we could choose from festive or standard menu, but told we couldn’t choose from festive menu on arrival. Portions were small and overpriced. Mine was burned and overcooked. Asked if meals were okay, but staff ran off before we all had a chance to reply.

The new menu not as good as the old one, choice in more limited, the place was cold, no midweek menu and price is too high for what you get Only go to meet relatives Had the Christmas dinner not much has changed soups were cold had to be replaced main meal was just passable some items were over done, I will say desert was good Service was good

Layla and Chloe were fantastic hosts, handled their busy sections with no problem and made time to talk and look after us as a group and not make us feel as if they were rushed. Made travelling away from other harvesters worth it for this experience. Food was great and facilities clean.

Abi your the best you always had a smile on your face and made us feel welcome and always checked to make sure are food was ok!!!

Had a good meal, atmosphere was good, the staff were very helpful and cheerful. Coffee machine was broken, can't believe a place this size only has 1 machine. There was a group of 12 of us, the service times for each course coming out was good. Will definitely return again though.

Food was fine but extremely understaffed. When we arrived there were five groups waiting to be seated and no one came by to greet anyone for ages. We ordered unlimited refills and the glasses they gave us were filthy. When I went to get my drink, the machine had run out of postmix and there was no one available to ask. I went to the bar instead and still waited a long while to be served despite being the only person at the bar. Tables around us sat covered in dirty plates for over 20 minutes. After we'd finished our mains, no one came to offer dessert so after waiting 20 minutes we just paid the bill and left. Ladies toilets abysmal: one out of order, one with no lock, two with broken light. I visited a month ago and noted the broken lock and 2 broken lights then so it doesn't seem there is any urgency to repair what should be a simple fix. Staff that were there were polite and trying hard but just seems poorly managed.

We went there on Saturday and the restaurant was fully booked so we used the bar area. There was foam out through the chair I was sitting on and food all over the floor we were there for an hour and no one came to clean it up. No cutlery and food was rather basic

I love Katie. Katie is amazing. Katie is life. Katie deserves a raise. Also Josh was good.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Great value and tasty. Had the rotisserie chicken which was perfectly cooked and well presented. Staff were genuinely friendly.

Kids liked endless coke and several visits to the salad bar. Good food and not to long to wait between courses.

We were travelling back home from Stansted. The website and google said the restaurant was open until 10. We arrived at 8:50 and there was a sign in the window saying they were closing at 9, but they were already closed. Really disappointing as I was looking forward to a burger.

A great place for a family meeting over a meal. You can come to this restaurant after reserving seats for a specific number of guests. Everything is great here. However, I have one small comment! So that the chef does not allow cooks to remove meat too early from the devices in which they are roasting, stewing or grilling. It turned out that I would have to eat the chicken undercooked. So I didn't eat 😄. Apart from that everything was delicious. On the other hand, I'm not a bit surprised about this chicken. Guests come and go like sea waves. The room is always full. I think the chickens bake too slowly and the guests can't wait too long. There were 7 of us here. Me with my wife and my daughter with a family of 5, i.e. my grandchildren 😎😄👋💐

Although our waitress Alarna tried her best she was let down by other members of staff. I ordered two rotisserie chicken with gravy,and one turned up with bbq sauce, the chips were overcooked and the cornbread was nowhere near as nice as fresh sweetcorn. I specifically asked for a gin and tonic with only a small amount of ice but the drink turned up with ten ice cubes and no slice of lemon, when I asked a male member of staff for a slice of lemon I was told that they didn't have any but this was obviously untrue as I went to the bar and arranged for some slices of lemon to be brought round to the table. Alarna was very apologetic about the mistakes and showed me the order she had placed. All in all a very disappointing evening we didn't bother staying for a second drink or dessert.

Accommodating staff and they try to make you feel at ease, the pity is that it seems mine after the change of menu they have made big changes also to the prices with significant increases, such as the hamburgers. Paying them on £ 17.49 for what is served I would say is not fair because the quality has not improved, in fact it has slightly worsened, the quantity... decreased but then this increase is based on what (I don't understand) at this point I would prefer to go to any other restaurant or pub and eat better for the same price, I'm sorry to say it because I liked going to harvester precisely for their honesty between quality and price ratio, but I think that if you expect a higher price you should offer better quality which I didn't find yesterday

Salad bar not replenished, out of many sauces. Too noisy with screaming kids everywhere. Waitress not the most friendliest. Waited ages to get served also for food and drink to be brought to us. Food was excellent but service is poor.

This is possibly the stickiest restaurant I have been in, everything needs a clean. We arrived at 8.30 and were bombarded with warnings that the kitchen was going to close and the salad bar was going to close. And there were no jacket potatoes

The food was served on time and good to eat My wife’s chips were cold and were replaced but were barely warm The waitress apologised but my wife said it spoiled her visit and she didn’t eat them
