Harry's in Monmouthshire

Walked past and returned as looked better than the other place I felt like going to. Spent a while perusing the board before anyone decided to speak/offer to serve. Cash only which normally I'd prefer as cash is king but on this occasion a card option would have been useful. Others that came in and commented on this. The sausage bap was OK. I couldn't say more than that really. It seems a popular place with regulars in there and I wouldn't dismiss it but I have had better service and food.

The food is of top Restaurant quality. Everything is freshly made by the owner himself, nothing frozen or procesed what so ever! Choose from gorgeous fresh sandwiches to fresh hot baps, divine cakes & quiche, oh and don't forget my Dad's favorite a slice of pizza! Coffee from a real Italian machine. True Italian customer service a must when visiting Abergavenny;-)

Average only on a visit for light refreshments. It didn't start well when I was kept waiting - there was no queue. There were 3 behind the counter, so no reason for a long wait and I was just about to turn on my heels and go! Ordered 2 teas and 2 cakes. The tea was just about filled to the brim so I had to tip some out to put milk in. So average only at a time when it was far from busy.

I had 20 minutes between buses to find something good for breakfast early on a mid-week morning. Walking up the High Street in Abergavenny I chanced upon Harry's tucked away down St John's Street. I fancied a bacon baguette and a coffee. What a delight - not just a baguette but a freshly baked rustic losange baguette. Slices of lovely thick bacon cooked to order filled the baguette to overflowing with a choice of sauces (mine's brown sauce for a bacon roll). Complemented by a really good coffee. Perfect! NB only cash accepted when I visited - so worth keeping some coins in your pocket/purse.

Paid £6 for a steak sandwich unfortunately This was loaded without asking with a very hot sauce which was not wanted and the “lean steak ” was more like a burger Very disappointed and a waste of money , ended up giving it to a passes by dog Won’t be going there again

I just stumbled on this place during the current lockdown. I love their sandwiches. Everything is made fresh to order and very tasty. They also have some great panini's that they heat up for you. Don't pass on the desserts either. Their brownies are to die for! All the staff are very friendly and there to help. I would recommend.

After almost 12 months just, had stew again today, which was even better than a year ago, latta was good,after lockdown number 2 ,if was fab

If your in Abergavenny you must pop in to harry's and try the new beef stew, i cant get enough of it,loads of veg, including potatoes and beef, just melts in the mouth, another of joes creations. Followed by latta and pear and almond tart and clotted cream

This is an excellent food bar in a side street out of the crowds on market day. Limited menu, but something for everyone. We enjoyed the bowl of stew served with a proper bread role (artisan?) and butter. It hit the spot. Highly recommended.

Harry`s is a snack bar with mostly outside seating. It serves a variety of hot sandwiches, baguettes etc, Usually a roast at lunchtime. soups and excellent homemade panninis. some superb pastries and good coffee. It has a strong local folllowing. Bacon butties with well cooked good bacon, but with thick GOOD bread. Thoroughly reccommended.

Best food ever and the service is just fantastic . The banter is fantastic and makes you feel so relaxed in this environment . Great place to visit and spend time looking at the world walking buy .

We visited this cafe for the 2nd time a fortnight ago. On this occasion we only had coffee and cakes. The proprietor is very friendly and welcoming. On our first visit we had what was one of the best burgers we had ever had. This time I noticed a steak baguette being prepared and it made me wish I hadn't eaten earlier. If you go to Abergavenny do visit this cafe you will not be disappointed.

Harry's is great for that quick snack that causes you to slow down a bit. Great premises just off the main street and superb bacon baguettes. Excellent staff too!

We have been coming to Abergavenny for the past 5 years and every year my daughter insists on coming to Harry’s for his legendary piri piri chicken wraps as a lunchtime treat. The chicken is freshly cooked on a griddle in front of your eyes and served with which ever garnishes you choose - she keeps hers simple with just lettuce....never fails to be a culinary high spot of her holiday. Harry and his staff are wonderfully welcoming and clearly take immense pride in serving high quality , delicious food. See you next year!

Whilst on a short break to Abergavenny we thought we would try Harry's for a snack.after reading some of the reviews on line via Trip Advisor.We ordered Smoked chicken paninis and cappuccinos. The paninis were served with a small salad garnish,all very tasty.The coffee was not so good.After spending years living in Spain we are quite happy with strong coffee(we know Harry's has an Italian background)The coffee was very bitter and altogether not nice.Spoilt what should have been an enjoyable experience.

I popped into this great little coffee shop and it never fails to disappoint. The owner takes a very active part in the business and it shows in the quality of the ingredients. Highly recommend a trip here.

Having checked trip advisor so glad we hunted this one out. Home made quiche and salad wonderful. Followed by coffee cake for me and my husband had the raspberry and almond tart. Great coffees too. We will be back again soon. Friendly team and owner.

Once again piri piri out of this world pear & almond tart (french style) first class latta's just fab staff very good if you are in abergavenny its a must stop

We selected this cafe on their 5 star rating an d we were not disappointed. The burger was the best my husband has had for a long time. The staff are accommodating and helpful with my picky diet. The coffee is excellent. A lovely visit.

Called in for lunch and all 3 of us were impressed with the quality of the sandwiches. Hubby had a carvery bap (warning - it was only 12.40 and they’d already sold out of carvery - we got the last portion!) and I had the chicken, roasted veg and cheese panini - both delicious. Son enjoyed his egg mayo and salad bap. Really good quality bread makes this place stand out.

Literally had the best bacon roll ever from here the other week when I called in for the first time. Lovely fresh crusty roll and lots of bacon. An absolute gem !

We've eaten here frequently since moving into the area, the food is always good quality, well presented and fairly priced. The staff are lovely. The carvery bap is a firm favourite!

I popped in for a sandwich and coffee and didn't know both were actually going to be so well prepared. The pork sandwich was amazing, my mouth is watering just remembering! Great coffee too and served by professional, friendly staff. Brilliant!

Popped in for a tea on a busy satuday. The hot pork rolls looked lovely, as did all of the sandwiches and other food for sale.

Always a fantastic place to visit , still can't talk Italian but working on it . It's my Saturday morning retreat , read the paper eat fantastic food , sets me up for the weekend .

The piri piri chicken pitta is my absolute favourite food ever. Absolutely lush. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

At my friend's request Harry prepared an Italian platter of salami, olives, Parma ham, cheeses,; salad, pickles,, chutney and bread. Totally delicious. The service here is always excellent and you can sit indoors or outside.

Absolutamente deliciosas carnes. No carne de cerdo con salsa de rábano picante, y relleno de Manzana con chispeante, o cocinados y cálido sobresaliente en panecillos o baguettes que son absolutamente deliciosos. Cada vez que estemos en Abergavenny - hacemos un esfuerzo de pop. Ñam ñam!

Este es más un kiosco de café, hay alrededor de seis asientos y sillas andtables dentro, en la calle afuera, genial cuando caliente y seco, pero los límites de capacidad de frío o húmedo si.

I've had lunch at Harry's Café twice now, and the food is wonderful. My panino with brie and cranberry, served with a side salad - very tasty. The emphasis is on freshly prepared, good quality food. Harry is the genuine Italian article with a lovely accent, and he and his staff are charming and friendly. As well as seating for around half a dozen inside the café, there are several tables outside.

Once again piri piri was fab still the best in wales and a latta to follow maybe a cake as well yes ill have a blueberry & almond tart

We had a great chicken pri pri filled pitta bread, it was very tasty and hot. Nice staff very friendly. We will be back soon

I go to Harry's for my lunch. You are always greeted with a smile and friendly service. Soup of the day changes daily and really tasty. They do the best apple cake (apart from my own) a huge slice of proper cake with apples! Lush coffee as well.

For a quick snack in town Harry's is great. Tables outside and a couple of inside seats. Watch the world go by. Bacon baguettes are to die for!

Harry's is perfect for that quick lunch, a 'pranzo rapido Italiano'. The daily choice of roast meats freshly carved into panini and rolls are splendid and with a plate of freshly roasted vegetables make a very tasty meal. The Italian coffee is very good and sensibly priced, try it with an almond macaroon, I find one is never enough. Good choice of lunchtime snacks and pastries too. Giuseppe who is the owner and chef, and his regular patrons give this gem of a cafe its special ambience, and dining can also be taken 'al fresco' for that touch of 'La dolce vita'.

Visited in my lunch hour for a hot pork and stuffing baguette . Was lovely. Even had crackling across the top. Lovely and fresh with good price and friendly service, will definitely return.

Regularly call to this little place in Abergavenny nestled just off the main street there is always a lovely welcome from the staff and the food is amazing I can recommend the piri piri chicken served in a pitta but they also serve home-made soups, meatballs, breakfast baguettes/baps, paninis, hot roast beef, pork or gammon baguettes/baps as well as a selection of cold fillings the portions are generous you certainly won't leave feeling hungryAlso if you are like me and have a sweet tooth then you won't be disappointed as there is always an array of beautiful cakes and pastries to choose from washed down with one of the best coffees in town.

Great for a late breakfast or lunch. Try the bacon baguette...delicious. Sit inside to read in peace or outside and watch the world go by.

Stopped by for lunch and was pleased to see that not only was Harry's full, but people were at the tables outside (in spite of the cold weather) - this said the food should be good. And it was: I had a big bap stuffed with roast pork, a bit of cracking on the side and a cup of tea. Great!

A hidden gem; my regular stop for what I consider to be the best coffee in Abergavenny.The pizza is freshly made each day on a delightfully thin and crisp base, and if you want something indulgent to round off your visit, then the chocolate torte is hard to beat.Great for sitting outside when the weather allows; wonderful ambience and friendly service

Went here for lunch on a busy Saturday. We managed to grab a table outside as it was pretty busy but worth waiting for. We ordered two of the peri peri chicken pitta breads and they were amazing! Full of lots of chicken, nicely spiced and with a nice amount of salad to compliment. If you're in Abergavenny and need something for lunch, definitely check it out.

The service and smiles just get better. To add to this the owner has started to talk to me in Italian to help me learn this brilliant language and all this if for free! You must visit as a great experience - always.

One of my favorite places to eat in town. The staff are lovely and are so friendly. If I'm lucky enough to have a quiet morning to myself, I come to Harry's and enjoy reading the paper and having my breakfast in the cafe area. Lovely atmosphere and a very warm welcome. My personal favourite is their peri peri chicken pittas.... Gorgeous!

Called in there as soon as we arrived in Abergavenny. Had bacon and egg sandwiches and they were excellent. The brown bread they use is delicious.

I have lunch here every couple of weeks, always the pork bap or pork baguette. Absolutely delicious. Friendly staff, efficient service, can't ask for more. It can be a little disappointing when you arrive there 12.30 and they've already sold out of pork but it's testament to the demand for a nice roll.

Another amazing lunch. We couldn't decide between our two favourites, the burger or chicken piri piri. We opted for the burger and took the piri piri home for tea. We make the trip from Swindon as much as we can. The food is just too good to go anywhere else.

I haven't been in for a few months but love the bacon baguette. Nothing has changed, spotless, excellent food and great service. Best described as bijou but outside, pavement eating is so suited to this part of town. Sit and watch the world go by.

Visit often for a tea and Tuna toasted sandwich. The Italian owner is a joy to talk with and always a happy chap. Worth a visit as a very relaxed place to be spend your spare time .

We found this gem when wanting to get away from the usual highstreet lunch places. There were plenty of fresh sandwiches to choose from, I had a gorgeous toasted sandwich and the husband had the special piri piri chicken wrap. There were plenty of options to choose from to satisfy the sweet tooth, even a homemade welshcake. You could either cwtch up in the shop itself or sit outside which we opted for. To top it off the service was flawless and welcoming.Thank you Harry's!

Harry's is an absolute gem of italian style cafe bar, whether you stand for a quick espresso or grab a seat (inside or out) for one of their delicious paninis or more traditional breakfast baguettes, daily carvery sandwich, or gorgeous pastries you will not be disappointed. Guiseppe is a properly trained Italian chef who once owned and ran the successful Charthouse restaurant near Usk (we miss him there so much !). Everything is freshly prepared and cooked on the premises by him. This is my number one cafe destination for Abergavenny nothing else comes close.

Another great visit to Harry's. We were staying in the area overnight so popped in for a breakfast bap. This was amazing so tasty. We decided to stay longer in Abergavenny just so we could stay for lunch. We enjoyed the homemade pizza and freshly made Willberry pie. The coffee is the best in town. Staff are really nice and helpful. Dont eat anywhere else in the day, there just is nowhere as nice.

Amazing value for money, hot beef sandwiches are the best. Owners always really pleasant, service fast and friendly. If you haven't been there go!

Excellent food, great staff not much more i can say about Harry's. The chicken piri piri is so nice, so much so that we have even taken some home for tea when we have eaten the freshly made pizza for lunch. Cakes are amazing. Seating inside and when the weather is ok there is seating outside. A must if you are visiting Abergavenny.

Impressive coffee. Amazing sandwiches and also other items - had a delicious Brie, red onion, mushroom and bacon pizza prepared by a cheery young man that was the best thing I've had from the cafè, though I've enjoyed everything I've had from Harry'sWorth popping into for a quick lunch!

Young lad making a sandwich in front of us , no board just cutting it on a small plate , his hands all over it , filling coming out all over his hands , really bad to watch, no real cups just cardboard ones , no card payment taken and no warning , coffee and cakes good .

Have to admit I am a regular here, but thought I would write a quick review. It's more take away than sit in as space is very limited, however there are seats outside cafe style if it's a nice day. Always busy, great sandwiches carvery and cakes. Italian owners influence is everywhere as pizza and meatballs are superb. Coffee is great too! Quick bite? Then try here.

I've eaten there a dozen times and only ever had 2 complaints, the first is that there is very little space to sit. They set up tables outside but how often is that practical? The other is the carvery, I'm not a big fan of cracklin, but one time I said yes, and as I went to bite my baguette, I saw 4 cm hairs sticking off my meat! They don't burn the hair off. I was sick... On the other hand you've never had a better quiche or focaccia. Soup is very nice as well
