The staff are always very rude and give dirty looks when standing around the till. They are especially rude to students and as soon as you’ve finished eating will come and take your plate and will give you looks while huddled together talking until you leave. They make anyone feel anxious when ordering and make you feel as though you’re not welcome in their cafe (which is normally half empty) especially as an a level student just trying to get some work done. The person who I can only assume is the manager is awful and constantly glares at customers as though they’re worth nothing and then when you go and sit down, she continues to look at you whilst talking to her staff. There is maybe one member of staff in the cafe with proper customer service, everyone else hardly talks whilst taking your order, making it an awkward situation and then joins in with the glaring and talking. They are also all constantly on their phones and not checking how the customers are getting on- you never see them working unless a customer has physically gone up to them and asked for something, other than that it’s just constant glaring and talking about customers. They are all constantly looking scruffy, which although I can not say anything about how they dress outside of work, is not appropriate in a work environment when they look like they just got out of bed and would do anything to get you out (which we all feel when we’re working- we just don’t show it!)

Very expensive for what it is, got kicked out as a paying customer the minute I finished my food despite it being half empty. Only students and younger customers are kicked out even if they aren’t causing an issue and have items bought in this store - seems like discrimination.

Absolutely terrible service, one of the staff members asked us to leave if we didn't order anything so when we asked what the cheapest thing was she made a snarky comment of 'let's see what you can afford' throughout our stay we were given dirty looks by the staff. I don't know if this type of service is only towards students but the discrimination is actually disgusting.

When I was in the cafe I was dictated to leave by one of the very rude cafe staff members. In my opinion the only reason why she did this is because we were students. We had only just finished our food before we were given only two minutes to leave.

Girls behind counter on their phones, went in at 2.30 Thursday 6 th October. Asked for advocado and poached eggs,we were told no advocados, There was a shop in the store with loads. Not a lot left to choose from, so had ham and cheese toasties and two teas, asked for a clean tray to carry it on as the ones on table were dirty, told they didn't have any. Went to sit down table was dirty, then the toasties came and were burnt,no point complaining as they were on their phones again. It wasn't even busy, Really disappointed.

Situated on South Street, this up market coffee shop provides a variety to meet most tastes and offers a range of brew your own at home accessories. Your name is taken with your order and when your order is ready, hopefully you hear your name being called to collect your order from the counter. Not the best arrangement for the hard of hearing! The lattes were one shot strength, smooth and without bitterness costing £3.

It is always hard to find somewhere that welcomes your dog when you need a coffee or light lunch in town. Harris and Hoole is a delightful setting for such an occasion. It has a friendly atmosphere and at the moment they are serving some delicious hot food as well as the array of cakes, sandwiches and croissants. Coffee is very good too and our dog is always made a fuss of by the staff which is always an added bonus.

Went on Saturday , the staff were more interested in Having a conversation than clearing any tables , there were at least 9 tables that were mucky and needed clearing not conducive with having a coffee in a pleasant environment. If they can’t keep the basics clean and looking decent, how does that reflect on the care they give the food they are serving!!! Not impressed!!!!! Also the cloth used to clean up the coffee area was filthy to be told it’s only coffee!!!!

Yep, so handy for the 45 minutes one's car is over the road at the IMO Car Wash & Valet Centre (see separate review). Excellent coffee, swift, friendly service. Sort of lunchtime so grabbed a Tuna Sandwich to go with my small Americano. Just perfect. And Harris & Hoole is a separate company so their only link with Tesco is bring on the same site. Try it. Initially I thought the place was too posh for me, then my friends dragged me in there and I have not regretted my involuntary venture since, the mint hot chocolate was amazing...and the sausage roll they serve had me questioning my sense of reality. 10/10, it’s a bit pricey but considering the chilled atmosphere? I don’t mind paying at all, I will definitely be back to have another sausage roll, the first time I’ve had any sort of sausage and not instantly regretted it.

We found this coffee house in South Street Chichester for the first time recently. It was welcoming and clean with a very relaxed atmosphere. The coffee was great and the sandwiches fresh and tasty. The staff were very friendly all in all a coffee house to put on your "to visit list".

Ideal whilst your car is being washed / valeted at the excellent IMO (see separate review), alongside the petrol station. Harris & Hoole is actually an independent company, so don't confuse with Tesco on whose site they share space. Fresh and short fruit scone - it was nearing the end of their working day. Fine coffee. Good service. What's not to like? Hayling Seagoon

You can tell how good the staff are at a place if you turn up 10 minutes before closing and they smile, are helpful, cheerfully serve you coffee and a chocolate brownie to share. And that's what happened yesterday. A lovely man behind the counter could not have been nicer. And the coffee was excellent and my half of the brownie was very yummy

The service inside the Tesco store in Chichester is extremely poor and unacceptable in such a hugely competitive market place as coffee shops. One of the members of staff (a tallish Guy with short hair) frankly barks at you when you order, bordering on aggressive. He’s not service oriented at all and should not work in front of customers with this kind of flagrant attitude. Another staff member (a women with longish blonde hair) also has a terrible attitude towards certain customers, for example she’s ok with those who act like robots but not those who point out bad service. I nor my friends and family will be going their again for our coffee or sandwiches. Travel just a little further to Waitrose, it’s better there. In this day and age this kind of bad service needs to be stamped out because business go under every day and most because of their front of house staff.

A splendid addition to Chichester’s South Street. I first came across a Harris & Hooke in Guildford a few years ago and am pleased to see it has now transplanted further south. This branch is a large inviting shop majoring in artisanal coffee but much else besides including sandwiches yoghurts and the delicious cakes and pastries we enjoyed with our tea. Service, however, was a tad slow.

Nice & spacious coffee shop inside Tesco that has 3 hours free parking in the large carpark adjacent that serve a good range of hot & cold drinks, scones, cakes, sandwiches as well as selling their own range of beverage products such as cups & saucers, filters, espresso equipment & so on, this was my 1st visit, & my medium mocha was made to perfection plus I found the staff to be really nice.

Coffee houses are my venues of choice, being a driver and non drinker I am always looking for new and comfortable surroundings. Harris + Hoole up until now, as far as I had noticed, were a coffee chain that began popping up in large supermarkets but I have now found a stand-alone venue in the heart of attractive Chichester. Comfy and modern seating matched with trendy dressing makes this new café/coffee house a relaxing place to take a coffee and pastry. Brown walls filled, with some coated in Trompe-l'œil which all in all makes the lounge an attractive place to be no matter the time of day. The coffee is a smooth rich blend with no hint of bitterness and they advertise the full bodied drink is a European award winner and the taste of the coffee backs that up fully. In a city full of coffee houses this one stands out amongst the crowd because of its classy interior, fine atmosphere and friendly service.

Went for a vanilla latte. Got a vanilla latte. It was hot, tasted nice and pretty quick. What more do you want to know? Chairs were comfy. View is of a carpark. Other customers were drinking coffee too (some had tea). Serving pastrues too! I definately didnt have a chocolate swirl. If I did it would have tasted fresh and the pastry would be perfectly soft in the centre with a good crunch on the outside.

This is a coffee shop style café within the Tesco shop. It offers the usual hot and cold drinks, light snacks and cakes. On this visit I had a delicious brie and cranberry toasted sandwich, with a coffee. The sandwich was very good, and the coffee ok though it did take a long time. There wasn’t much of a drinks queue, but for some unobvious to me reason, making the drinks took a long time – I’d finished most of my sandwich by the time it had arrived. The place appeared to be clean, and the staff pleasant. There was plenty of room and spare tables. The prices are more expensive than I expected for a coffee shop in a Tesco shop.Overall, a good place if you need a break from shopping, but given the prices not somewhere I would use regularly.

Recently relocated to Bracklesham Bay and still finding my way around.Visited Tesco in Chichester for the first time and decided to treat myself to a coffee.Never again; service was slow, choice minimal and costs average.I asked for the coffee to be extra hot, yet it was served lukewarm 'as is our custom'! I also had a scone which was mediocre to say the least. The coffee shop itself was decidedly unclean and it was difficult to find a clean table, amongst the debris on the floor.Really cannot recommend this place.

Chichester industrial estate area has lost its last proper greasy spoon, first went the tesco cafe and then my beloved Terminus Cafe. It was therefore with a heavy heart that I visited what seemed to be a generic Costa, Cafe Nero type joint in Harris and Hoole's branch in Chichester. Expect that it was very very good. I had a bacon bap which was proper fair, good bacon and fresh cob style roll and a very nice pot of tea. A refreshing change from the standard coffee house which also gives decent grub for people who don't want a crappy muffin! The smiling and welcoming staff must also be commended.

I came here today with my mum as we were having a quick Look around Chichester. We ordered two hot chocolates and a slice of banana loaf. The hot chocolates were lukewarm which completely contradicts the name. I didn’t say anything as we were about to catch a train and were in a rush. It also took them a good 20 minutes to make two drinks and there was nobody in front of us. Also the banana cake was so dry it must have been left out uncovered. Would definitely avoid if you would like to actually have a hot drink.

I recently visited The Barn in Chichester for breakfast with some guests, and it was an amazing experience! Although this wasn’t my first visit, it was just as wonderful as before. The atmosphere is so charming, especially with its lovely garden and quirky, outrageously fun shed seating in the courtyard. It was such a unique touch and made the experience even more memorable. We all loved sitting in the shed, which added a fun and playful vibe to our meal. The food, as always, was delicious. The Barn is an ideal place for both breakfast and brunch. The service was exceptional, with a sweet waiter who made us feel right at home. The whole setting, from the china teacups to the knick-knacks in the decoration, created a wonderfully unique and cozy atmosphere. Every little detail added to the charm of the place. I ordered the Welsh Rarebit, and it did not disappoint! Rich, flavorful, and perfect for the setting. My guests were equally impressed, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend The Barn for anyone looking for a cozy spot with great food, a fun atmosphere, and a quirky touch that you won’t find anywhere else. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
